Gradient lines showing on imported photoshop images

I am using photoshop for the background of my captivate
videos - I can see the gradient lines when I play the video as (
next 5 slides ) I have tried increasing jpeg quality to 100
percent.
I am using png files ( save as png from photoshop) should i
save as to jpeg or well, there are lots of options to save in
photoshop - which is best for captivate -
Also - i use the standard 72 res - is that right ! I also
have fireworks but photoshop is much better so would prefer to use
that.

72dpi should be fine.
I save Photoshop images as 24 or 16bit (RGB) BMP files then
import those
into Captivate. It seems to retain the quality a lot better
than a
pre-compressed format like JPEG or PNG.

  • Why the White Lines around imported Photoshop Images

Working in CS6, importing native Photoshop images into an Illustrator gradient.  Certain imported Photoshop images, with transparent background, produce white lines bordering the images.   The white lines stand out against the AI gradient.  The whites lines are not visable on screen.  They came out in the commercially printed product.  The overall AI document, with PS images placed and linked, was save to a PDF.  It was then printed from the PDF. The PDF, as viewed on screen, does not show the white lines either.  Why and how do the white border lines (the box surrounding the image) appear?

First I would recommend making sure there are indeed »no pixels« there in Photoshop – applying the Layer Style Stroke can help locate stray, semitransparent pixels.
Other than that I am afraid your print service provider may not have provided optimal output.
What print process was employed anyway?
It looks like flattening effects, but those should simply not be visible in print.
They happen when exporting X1 or X3 pdfs, which disallow transparency, so in creating the pdf the psd files that have transparency are flattened with whatever background and often broken up into smaller parts.
That way a whole mess of fragmentary images can be created, as one can see when one opens such a pdf in Illustrator.
One can avoid that by creating X4 pdfs, which do allow transparency, but if those can be processed by the printer is another question.
But this issue might be more suitable to the Illustrator or pdf Fora.

  • Importing photoshop images into Final Cut??

I am having trouble importing an image I have which is a photoshop file and has layers with a transparent background and whenever I import it into Final Cut it always has a white background. Is there a way of making it transparent like the original photoshop format.
    Thanks Heaps

    Hi -
In Photoshop, go to the menu Image > Mode and make sure RGB Color is selected and 8 Bits/Channel is selected, and re-save the document.

    Hope this helps.

  • Importing photoshop images into fcp?

I'm currently working on a project where i'm having to blend in images/photos (jpeg/tiff format) with the HD footage i'm editing with. Simple question really; do you recommend that I re-size the images in photoshop so that the image is the same dimensions as the footage in final cut? I know some blurring/loss of image quality will occur but that's not important at this stage.
For instance my settings in fcp are HD 1440x1080, 16:9 aspect ratio. Just so I don't get left with big black borders around my photos once they're in the sequence is it best that I doctor them in photoshop and size them to the exact fcp frame that i'm working with?
I assume that if the image is too big for the frame in fcp it will crop the image so it fits nicely?
Thanks for your help on this,
    Alex

Your assumptions are all misguided; you're in control of everything FCP will attempt to do to your still images. However, you need to understand how to wrest that control from the defaults and that's a few dozen pages in the manuals.
Bringing layered Photoshop documents into FCP is different than importing still image files. Another section in the manual. There are entire websites dedicated to this topic, too, and you're going to to need to experiement on the numerous techniques suggested.
At its basic level, you want your images to have pixel dimensions that will support the maximum zoom you will want to use. If all of your images are simple full frames, create your still in the exact pixel dimensions of your sequence. Yes, you must understand the difference between square and rectangular pixels. Manual again.
If you intend to do zooms or other complex moves, you will want to size your images about 200% larger than your HD sequence.
Still images have no fields, only sequences do.
Stick around for a few more days and you'll get several additional posts.

  • Importing Photoshop image into Flash without discoloration

Hello, I just put together a banner image in photoshop that I would like to import into Flash and put a small navigation menu at the bottom but whenever I use the import to stage feature I am getting a large amount of discoloration in the image.  I've tried saving it as a .tif and .png but both came out looking poor.  Attached is an image to show what I mean.  Anyone have a suggestion on this?

    >>One more thing when you created this graphic did you make sure to use web color only, rmember the web views I think only 246 colors (somenthing like that) so anything outside of gamut will go to the next best thing.<<
That isn't true at all. The web safe color palette had nothing to do with the limitation of the web and everything to do with the limitation of color monitors at the time it was proposed. At the time the color palette was proposed many displays could only display a maximum of 256 colors on screen simultaneously. The operating systems reserved about 20 colors each for their own use and that left 216 available color slots. Anything about that number that tried to display on screen at the same time would caouse color banding (what gifs images do to photos).
But that was along time ago.

  • Check mark not showing after importing in Image Capture

The check marks will show right after importing photos to a hard drive in Image Capture. However, after unplugging my iPhone and plugging it back in to import new photos, the check marks are not showing up for the photos I have already imported. One way I was successful at getting the check marks to show was to select another folder to import to and then select the folders that contain the imported images.

CDs don't contain artwork, you can either add the artwork manually or (if the album is available in the iTunes store) you can have iTunes download it automatically from there. You'll get information on both methods at this link: <<a href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesMac/8.0/en/15298.html" >iTunes for Mac - Adding artwork to songs and other items

  • Fireworks CS3-Color changes when importing Photoshop images

    Hello,
I created a background image in Photoshop CS3 but whenever I import it into Fireworks CS3 the color changed. It seems that the saturation level is changing. The hue is close however. I tried using the color palette to type in the exact RGB & Hexadecimal number but it is still not working.

  • Pixel-slop in Photoshop image rotation

See three small bitmaps attached: <<original.bmp>>; <<45cw.bmp>>; <<45ccw.bmp>>.
The original is a simple 21x21 pixel test pattern, black except for white pixels in the center and corners.  It's appearance should be the same whether rotated 45 deg clockwise or counterclockwise, and the appearance should keep the symmetry of the original.
    I used "Bilinear Interpolation".  I used a gamma = 1 profile, and to be extra-safe set Edit>Assign Profile>Don't Color Manage ...
I set the background color to black in the toolbox.  Thank you John Joslin.
Then I rotated the original image 45 deg clockwise and counterclockwise to make the other two files.  Why to the resulting images look so different?  Why are they lacking in symmetry?  With the other interpolation methods too, clockwise and counterclockwise rotations give quite unlike images.  A partial explanation could be that Photoshop rotates about a point not in the image center, but this doesn't explain enough. I tried 20x20 patterns which showed similar problems.
I'm mostly interested in bilinear interpolation because this is supposed to conserve the total pixel value.  Each white pixel in the original has value 255, so the blob resulting from this pixel should have total value 255.  Look at <<45cw.bmp>>.The blob on the left has total value 69+94+13+5+18+1=200.  The blob on the right is an almost perfect antipode with total value 1+18+6+13+95+68=201.  The blob at the bottom doesn't resemble the side blobs and has total value 42+56+40+3+55=196.  The blob at the top has total value 40+41+56=137.  Clearly Photoshop has lost the top of the top blob.  (It also does this with 45 deg counterclockwise rotation, and also with 135 deg rotation.)  The blob in the center has total value 49+49+48+47=193.  All of the blobs fall far short of 255.  Photoshop might be excused for messing up edge pixels, but not a central pixel.
Photoshop messes up rotation at the single pixel level.  I made a test pattern with clusters of 4 white pixels and the rotation of this did conserve the total value for the central four.  Edge pixels still showed problems.  Photoshop image rotation appears to be based on sloppy code.

Then how do you account for my post 11? How to you account for X2 detecting a extra hidden row on the left and top side of of the image? There is no hidden row on the bottom or rightside.
Adobe digimarc did not detect anything.
Paint Shiop Pro X2 digimarc did.
I have posted the proof. It is not my fault that Adobe digimarc addon cannot detect the watermark.
    The watermark is there.
    dcouzin wrote:
Fantasy watermark.  First of all a black pixel isn't a watermark.  It can't "hide" a watermark.  Hiding has no meaning in this context.  If the file header has a digital ID that's fine, but it's not "hidden" in the image, not under a black pixel.
All of your reported O=255 data is not in the image either.  There aren't enough bytes in the file to specify opacity at each pixel.  This is a 24-bit RGB image not a 32-bit RGBO image.  Maybe O=255 is specified globally somewhere in the header, but I don't see "FF" anywhere in the header.  More likely full opacity is presumed for a RGB image.
    THERE IS NO WATERMARK.
I suggest you download BinViewer 2.0 and BinEditor 2.0 which are freeware. Look at the file <<original.bmp>>.  You will count 114 zeros between the first "FF FF FF" and the next "FF FF FF".  114 divided by 3 equals 38 so "00 00 00" appears 19 times between the "FF FF FF"s.  Hey, that's the 19 black pixels between two of the corner white pixels.  Now you can use BinEditor 2.0 to change some of the "0"s or "F"s to anything you want.  You can write "dec9" in there.  Save and open in Photoshop to see what you've painted.  It's great fun creating colors and shapes by poking numbers into a file.  It's the opposite of Photoshop's glistening gliding paintbrushes, and it has a powerful truth.
This is why I want to know what Photoshop does when, for example, it rotates an image.

  • Create a link within a photoshop image?

forgive me if this topic has been beaten to death but i couldnt find what i was looking for in a search:
i'm importing photoshop images as each of my webpages but would like to create links from text within the .jpg file. i'm pulling out my hair trying to figure this out!
    any suggestions? thanks in advance!

    Chip:
Do you want to link the entire file or just a portion of it? To do the entire file select it and open the Inspector/Link pane and set the link to whatever URL you want.
If it's just a portion of the photo create a shape, resize and place of the portion of the picture you want to be a link, set the border to none, transparency to 1% and then use the Inspector/Link pane to set the link.

  • Imported RAW images badly corrupted, looks like red paint splashed all over the sky.  Photoshop and Iphoto have no problem with the images from my D800E.  Aperture worked fine for me in June with the same camera.  The Nikon software shows no problem.

I am having a problem importing my images into Aperture 3 from my Nikon D800E.  The images appear as if red paint was splashed across the sky.  The Nikon software used to transfer from the camera does not show this problem and Photoshop 6 is fine with the images exported as jpg from the Nikon software.  Aperature does not even like the jpg images usable by Photoshop.  I am suspecting that Aperture is not correctly using the camera raw file.  Also, the histograms are radically different between the corrupted images and the Photoshop (good) versions.  Aperture worked just fine for me in June with the same camera.  All drivers and software are current as of this posting.  Anyone else out there seen this before??

Are you sure you do not have Highlight Hot & Cold Areas turned on? (View->Highlight Hot & Cold Areas)?
The bug in Digital Camera raw only affected Raw images. In your first post you wrote:
Aperature does not even like the jpg images usable by Photoshop
If the JPG's have the same problem then it isn't this bug.

  • Photoshop Images displaying a horizontal line

Framemaker 10 - Photoshop files (PSD) that I import (File -> Import -> File -> Copy into document) into my master pages are all displaying a horizontal line on the right side of the image. The line is not in the original image. Does anyone know what is causing this anomoly?  Thanks Chris.

    Hello Everyone,
I'm having the same issue with the vertical line appearing on the right side of my .psd image in FrameMaker, but only when it is printed to .PDF.
Here are some of the things I've tried:
Checked the .psd image for layers and found none. Therefore, it can't be flattened.
Zoomed in on the right side to see if I have any phantom pixels, but have found none.
Used the trim tool (Image>Trim). Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Tried saving as a pdf instead of printing to .pdf, but it still has the line.
The line reminds me of the "track edits" line that appears in the left margin of the text when tracking edits in FrameMaker. If I save the Photoshop image as an .eps file with Tiff preview and then print to .pdf from FrameMaker, the line isn't there. Has anyone figured out if it's a FrameMaker, Photoshop, or Acrobat thing?
    Thanks,
    Peg

  • Is it possible to import an image w/ transparent background from photoshop?

    Hello,
I was wondering if it's possible to import an image which contains a transparent part of it into Motion, so I can later add in images and videos underneath that layer.
    Thanks for your time.

    hi again,
there are two ways to do this. In Photoshop you can elect to have a transparent background, if you erase your image to show the chequered background, Motion will do the same.
Or from within Motion you can apply a mask to an image to have it show whats underneath. Apply the mask using the mask tools in the toolbar to the image, then step over to the Inspector, hit the mask tab and select the type as subtract. That will punch a hole in your image revealing whatever is underneath it.
    thanks

  • Importing Photoshop RAW images into Aperture

When I import Photoshop RAW images that I have made adjustments to, into my Aperture library, they show up as the original RAW files and not with my adjustments. Is there a way to get the RAW adjustments imported as well.
The only reason I need to import them into Aperture is to post them in a web gallery. Or is there a way to create a ME web gallery directly from Photoshop files? How about creating a ME web gallery directly from Lightroom? Anybody have a clue?)
(Btw, in attemtpting to research this topic, I find I am totally unable to do a search of the discussions. Even with a search word like "Aperture", I get no messages. Not matter what search word I enter I get no messages found. ???)
    Thanks!
    Jim

    Thanks for the reply Allen.
I am saving them all as TIFFS now. I was just trying to avoid that time-consuming step. I do not really need them as TIFFS right now. It is to show edited RAW files to a client. Later, when selections are made, I would save that much smaller number of images as TIFFS. But it seems that there is no other way to import the RAW files with the edits into Aperture.
I used to create all of my web albums for clients in PS. But once I got a .mac account, I love and prefer the look of the .mac web galleries. But of course that necessitated importing all my PS files into either iPhoto (not an option) or Aperture. But can these PS web galleries be exported to a .mac web gallery?
    Thanks!
