Gradient Tool not Rendering at 100% opacity

I'm trying to create a gradient in Photoshop, but the gradient isn't rendering at 100% opacity. The layer is set at 100%, and when I inspect the colors in the gradient box, they are both at 100%. When I add the gradient though, it comes over at about 70%. It does it even with the preset gradients in Photoshop. Anyone have an idea of what setting is out of whack and how to fix it?

I completely missed the opacity setting for the tool in the top toolbar. That was the issue. Thanks.

  • Gradient tool not fading transparency/opacity... help?

    Hello fantastic photoshop experts,
I'm having a bizarre problem in Photoshop CS2 (sorry, no money for a newer version) with my gradient tool not rendering transparency. I've been using CS2 for a while on my mac (Powerbook G4, OSX 10.4 if that matters) and this is the first issue I've ever had with it.
Basically, I try to choose the "Foreground to Transparent" gradient, and although the settings are all set to default and all the sliders appear to be correct, the applied gradient doesn't have any transparency. Instead, it just goes Foreground to Foreground! I've tried to manually enter in opacity values, moved the sliders around, changed to different colors or different gradients that contain transparency in the hopes something would mysteriously kickstart Photoshop into correcting itself. I've restarted everything, clicked reset the presets, restore defaults, anything I can think of, and nothing works. All gradients that have some sort of transparency fail to render the transparency. Any 100% solid color renders fine.
I've searched and searched and can't seem to find the answer to this frustrating problem. If this explanation doesn't make sense, I hope the attached screenshot makes things clearer. I would really appreciate some insight into this! Thank you in advance.

Well, shucks, Buko, you make it so easy!
Yes, that finally fixed it. I thought I had trashed my prefs, but it turns out I trashed the wrong one. Thank you very much!

I have cannot paint in black to conceal on a layer mask.  I have "NORMAL" mode set and the foreground color is set to black.  When I paint or use the gradient tool in "normal" mode with black it paints to transparent.   Before the uprade it was normal.   I have this problem on both CS6 apps pc-and-laptop.  I am lost here.  Can I get someone to help a brother out...

    Same issue, please see below:

         Photoshop 12.1 x64 on OS X 10.7
    Problem:
Painting with black and using the 'gradation tool' inside a 'white' (everything exposed) layer mask is NOT WORKING:
    The facts:
         1) Using a black-to-white gradation in a white layer mask is not working.
         2) Using a black-to-transparent gradation in a white layer mask is not working.
         3) But, a using a white-to-black gradation in a black layer mask is working.
         4) or, using a white-to-transparent gradation in a black layer mask is working.
This used-to work. Shall we keep an eye out for a fix or is Adobe going to back-out this bug from the update that broke this?

  • PSE 12 Brush will not go to 100% opacity

I have tried shutting down, resetting the brushes, yes they are at normal opacity,  and I simply can't think why the brush won't stamp or perform at 100%.

Have you tried resetting preferences?  You do this through Edit> Preferences> General, then click 'Reset Preferences on next launch' and restart the program.
You might want to check out post #7 here: http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60064 and see if the suggestion about flow rate helps any.
[EDIT] Checked in PSE12 and the hidden flow rate option is still there and DOES affect the brushes. With the Brush tool selected Use Shift+0 to reset it to 100% flow.

  • Local Adjustment Brush and Gradient Tools not working in LR3.2

I am not sure what i did, but those tool have stopped working.  I don't know how i manged to do this or if it is a bug, but i noticed that the color palette is gone from the setting tab for these two tools.  If you look on the right tab of the screen shot, you can see that where the colour box used to be, there's nothing.  Not even the box with an "x."  If i try and use either tool, the whole frame just turns pure grey.  Any thoguths or Help would be much appreciated.  I'm hoping that maybe i accidentally clicked or hit a key i didn't notice.

    Hello,
when applying a gradient to a rectangle i will get the gradient tool, click on the left half of the object i want it applied to and while holding down drag a line to thew right hand side of the object. the problem the arises when i release the mouse as the gradient bar that has been shown while holding down then disappears. this applies the gradient but the issue is that all gradient editing has to be done on the gradient window as a posed to live on the object slowing the work flow.
I am not sure what I'm doing wrong but help would be much appreciated.

  • Gradient Transform Tool not working in Flash Pro CS6

I've tried all sizes (reducing and enlarging.)  I'm working in shapes (I'm following a tutorial exactly so I know it's not what I'm doing wrong)
I'm running Mountain Lion on a 2008 iMac, but according to all I read it should be fine.  Is Flash CS6 not supported in the new Mac OS?
I seem to be seeing a lot of complaints on various forums. I don't see the circle shape when i click on the tool.  There's nothing. Any suggestions?
    Wayne

I'm having similar problems with the Gradient tool. I'm on a iMac 2009, OSX 10.8.3.
The gradient transform tool isn't working properly. The options for the tool aren't showing up in the tool bar.
I want to transform a gradient in multiple elements at the same time. A bunch of letters in a word.
The gradient transform handles only show up when I select a single element. And not when I select multiple items with the same gradient fill. I'm also using Flash CS6 via Creative Cloud.

When rendering a project, FCPX did not stop at 100% but appeared to keep rendering - when it reached eleven thousand something, I quite FCPX (it allowed me to quit).

The background tasks indicator just kept going and going... 200, 300... 400... 600...800... When I opened the background tasks window, the only process it said was active was rendering.
I clicked on "stop" but it ignored me, kept counting on and on....  1000... 2000,,, 5000 I clicked Pause, it didn't ignore me but still kept counting...  7000... 10,000...
I went to my activity monitor on my mac and from what it said (like, 97% or so idle), I surmised that it actually had stopped rendering.  So I quit FCPX - no problem, no "not responding" or "force quit" or anything.
My external harddrive was still whirring (that's where my project is stored) so with much trepidation I ejected it: no problem...
After my question I (agian with much trepidation) opened FCPX, did some editing, rendered, exported, without problems.
But I'm concerned about what might have caused this bizarre behavior and what to do if it happens again.
    any thoughts???

  • Gradient tool to show hide not work in layer masks

I have a PS CC (201410204.r.310X640 subscription.   When I used CS5 I could use the gradient tool (black and white) to show hide content in a layer mask.  This achieved the correct smoothness I want to achieve.  In CC the tool does not work in layer masks -it removes too much or the reverse, etc.  I have no control at all over what is removed and not.   Is there a fix for this please.   The lack of the gradient tool for this effect is making CC not worth using at the mo to be honest and I am just about to give up on it.
Many thanks for any help you can offer.
    Susan

Thank you for the replies and I apologise for havingn taken so long but have been busy with one thing and another for a few days.
How to explain?   What I mean is that if I have an image and I, say, then, for example, add a texture image, I could then add a layer mask to the texture lay and working in the lay mark remove or replace the texture mask as I wished... in CS5 I usually used the diamond gradient in little tiny strokes, if necessary, and this removed the texture in with a nice smooth gradient - or replaced it, depending on whether I was using black or white
Now it does not matter how I use the gradient tool, each 'stroke' just moves the exposed part to a different place in the image
and no matter whether the colur is set to black or white, each 'stroke' moves the exposed part to another place in the image.
In order to replace the texture, I have to use the paint brush tool.
I hope all this makes sense to you clever folks.   I have not reset preferences and tools but it has made no difference.
Also, I apparently have PS versiib 2014. 2.2 Release   20141204.r30 x 64   - I have updated several times but do not know if this is the correct version.   Any ideas gratefully received.
    Many thanks.  Susan

  • Clone Stamp Tool not cloning transparency correctly

My clone stamp tool is not cloning transparency correctly.
I have looked at all opacity, flow, and blending setings.
Basically, what I remember from before this problem started,  is that cloning a transparent edge, or an area with some degree of transparency, and the transparency information would transfer pixel for pixel.
Now it appears that the color cloning is working correctly but the transparency information is cloning as additive.
For example, if I have a solid color square with no transparency, surrounded by tranparent area and I clone from the square into the tranparent area, it clones corectly. If I try to clone FROM the tranparent area, into the square, nothing happens. The zero opacity (transparent) information is added to the 100% opacity square and the result is no change. I would expect to create a brush shaped line of 100% transparency since my cloning stamp is set to 100% opacity.
If there is an area that is50% transparent. (Like if it had been erased at 50% opacity), then when I clone one part of the 50% transparent area onto another, instead of staying the same the tranparency goes to 100%.
I am trying to use the cloning stamp tool to modify a .png logo that contains many areas of varying transparency, and so this problem is making the editing slow going if not impossible.
I do not know how to fix this or if I inadvertantly checked/engaged some sort of setting.
    Any help is appreciated.

You may be correct. I tried it on an older version of Photoshop with the same effect.
I am not sure why I thought transparency would clone rather than add the transparency.
I think it would be more effective if you could clone the transparency though, or at least choose. For example, what if I I want to clone an area with less than 100% opacity on to another area with 100% opacity, or if I want to clone an uneven edge that is opaque on one side and transparent on the other, and I want to move it into the opaque area a little further.
It seems I have done this many times, but I may just be tired and not remembering correctly.
At any rate, thanks for the quick reply.

  • SSRS report does not rendering properly in sharePoint 2013

    Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie with the MSBI development tool, I've tried to create a testing SSRS reports and its layout showed correct when preview them in Visual Studio (2010 and 2012). Then I migrated the report in SharePoint 2013, but the layout do not rendering as I
expected, some data mix-up on the matrix table
The Ident on detail data (drill down) does not render properly compare the layout in when preview in Chrome or Visual Studio (SSRS)
The summation on second matrix table went wide on both browsers compare when preview thereport in Visual Studio
The export PDF (using the "action" button on the report in the browsers) showed the second matrix table is overlaps the first matrix table.
This report has 3 main queries (2 for the matrix tables and 1 for the chart) on a Dev environment:
Window server 2008 R2 with service pack 2
SQL server 2012 enteprise with service pack 2
SharePoint 2013 (no service pack) with integrated mode on the report service
    Visual Studio 2010 development tools
I'm very appreciate for anyone can provide any solution to solve this issue.
    Thank you so much,
    Dac.
P.S.: I attached the preview of the report in both browsers (IE & Chrome) and its preview in Visual Studio.
An update: ... due to the setting space on"snap to grid" default to 20 and I've made the 2nd matrix table overlaps the 1st one, therefore the it showed overlaps when export to PDF file ... it's solved.
But the Indent on IE and summation still persist in both browsers.

    Hi everyone,
The PDF's export has been solved due to the 2nd matrix table overlaps on the 1st table.
Also, I don't know why the summation (aka Row Total) went wide when data represented on the 2nd matrix table (see previous post on the row named as "Premium over 5000$" on both browser. So I've redesigned the 2nd table as normal table instead of
matrix table ... and the summation showed correct (it's so weird)
For the "Indent" issue showed in IE on both drill down of the 1st table and 2nd table which cannot be fixed, and the end user used only IE.
Could someone can enlighten me please?
    Many thanks.

  • Blur with gradient tool / Lens blur

    Hi everybody,
I want to make some blur effects like miniature effect or open apperature lens blur.
Currently I'm using the gradient tool with negative sharpness. But I think in 100% zoom, the effect looks a litte bit like on/off. Or is the visible effect just non-linear??
Furthermore it would be create to simulate a lense blur effect in the corners. Currently I have to add at minimum 4 gradients, one in each corner. That's no effective
Otherwise it would be possible to implementate a radial gradient mask additionally to the normal linear gradient. Also a reflected gradient mask, would be useful.
    Lightroom is great!!
    Thanks,
    Leschi

-51 to -100 sharpness is lens blur.  It's power is limited by the amount of time it takes to calculate this sort of effect - bigger = longer.
