The Skype Premium pages suggest that group video also gives you free calls to U.S. and Canada calls. However, when I go to make a call, I am told that I don't have funds and the call cannot be made. Are the marketing pages wrong? Are calls not included?

Skype Group Video: Free for everyone or not?

I've been paying for Skype Premium for 2 years now for group video chat. Now I read EVERYWHERE including Skype's website that says Skype Group Video chat is now free. So I chat with a Skype customer service guy to find out why I was charged for Skype Premium and why I even need it anymore. He tells me Group Video is NOT free for everyone and that it's coming in the near future. I asked him why the FRONT PAGE of Skype.com says it's free and all he says it that it's not free.
Anyone know what the deal is?

We therefor upgraded Skype Premium subscriptions as detailed here: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA34454/what-s-new-with-group-video-calling
The Skype Premium subscription you have includes an unlimited calling option to a country of your choice. This should get upgraded to an "Unlimited World" subscription allowing you to call 60+ countries while keeping the same subscription price. This upgrade hasn't seem to have happened yet for your account though.

Bandwidth for group video chats

Hi everyone
A few things I would like clarified about group video chats before I set one up.
1) Will everyone who joins the chat be able to see each other's videos? Or does only the host have access to see all the videos?
2) How much bandwidth is taken up by a group video chat, and does this affect the host only or all users?
3) What is the maximum number of users allowed on group video chats, including the host? I've seen various figures from 5 to 25.

Trying to set up group video to include LG smart TV.

Initiate the call by starting a new converstion on a laptop, using Premium account. Add users, including the account on the TV. Click "Video call". Conversation starts, but not everyone can see everyone else. Example:
Master laptop initiates on laptop in same room as TV (or not).
TV is account on TV.
Remote is account on desktop across the hall.
Every device can see its own camera view.
Master laptop can see itself and Remote video.
TV can only see itself.
Remote can see itself and Master laptop video.
Is there something we're doing incorrectly?

Is Skype Premium to tool I need to have group video conferences for multiple offices. I want each office to see all other offices during the conference and I need to control and pay for the entire package from one account. Does it include Skype Manager and is it $9.99 per month for each office location or account. Example if I have 5 offices is it $9.99 per office. All everyone needs is the latest business version of Skype, a laptop and a webcam. Itʼs simple to use, group video calls can be between three or more people (up to a maximum of 10), and at least one person on the call needs a group video calling subscription. For the best quality, we currently recommend video calls with up to five people. For group video calling everyone on the call needs the latest version of Skype for Windows plus a webcam. You'll also need a high-speed broadband connection (we recommend sustained 512 kbit/s downlink or more) and a computer with a 1 GHz processor (minimum) or Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz (recommended). We also recommend a minimum of 1 GB memory and 2 GB memory for group video calls with up to five participants. I hope this answered your questions. Is it possible to do group video chat in Facetime or does it only have one to one functionality?

Sadly only one to one functionality.
Having group calls would be a brilliant feature on FaceTime but apple haven't included this into there feature

In Serial Element mediaPlayer.bytesLoaded for second video includes first video bytes

I am using SerialElement for displaying ads and then main video so in my player I set my loading of the progress bar using mediaPlayer.bytesLoaded but the problem is that the loaded bar for the second video includes the loaded bytes from the first video also so my loaded bar gets set slightly larger and when I try to seek then actually there are no bytes at the end of loading bar and seek is not possible for the end portion, it gives a very bad user experience. I tried to confirm this behaviour by taking a 20 min video as first video and then main video so when second video started buffering I traced the mediaPlayer.bytesLoaded and I got value around 760sec, and I dont think my bandwidth is so good that it will load 760 sec video in few seconds.
Is this behaviour expected? If this is the case then how can I clear the bytes loaded for the second video?

I've been fixing some bugs in this area, you might want to upgrade to public trunk and see if your problem has been resolved.

Premium, group video, fair use, WHY?

Can someone from Skype please or someone who knows whats what explain WHY we have a LIMIT on group video when it causes no tax on Skype's servers. Its causing a lot of tax on MY computer hardware and my friends hardware.
So where does skype get off saying they have a right to limit how much I can use group video calling?

I'm glad to see it is not just me. I also have been searching desperately for a way to submit a question/call a helpdesk, etc.
In my case, I get an "OOPS! Looks like this feature is not available for your free subscription" message (that was from memory, not verbatim...). The issue is that I started with a free trial about 2 months ago, and then at the start of August I purchased a subscription and have been using it everyday until last week, when it stopped working. I can get the group audio, but not the video. I just renewed my subscription (monthly) and I dropped and re-installed a new version of SKYPe, but no luck so far.

IChat uses better Video Compression than Skype does.
On a top flight Mac you can send a 640 X 480 pixel frame up to 30 frames a sec.
Skype can't match this.
iChat in Video is Peer to Peer. (you can actually Log out of the Buddy list)
Skype seems to borrow something from everyone's bandwidth to make connections.
What do you mean by Business account Tracking ?
iChat Adds (or can add) the First Name, Last Name of your Buddies and create an Address Book Entry
Whether you mark those cards connected with a company is up to you.
(I have heard of issues with earlier version of iChat and the Address Book that "saw" the Company Name as the part of the Name and linking several Screen Names to the one name
Audio on a Mac using Skype tend to be the same as the streaming needs are less.
However you have to rely on any PCs audio abilities from PCs which may not be to the same standard.
Mac to PCs in iChat and AIM can be difficult though. (It should work but it rarely as simple as Plug and go)
Skype may suit your needs better on ocassions.

No. Current Skype enabled TV sets and BluRay players don't support group video calling yet. You can do only 1-on-1 Skype video calls.
