Grainy caused by adjustment brush in LR5(need help)

I just realized when I printed some of my photos that I adjusted in LR5, the pictures looked so grainy.
I notice, the grainy only shows in some part of the pictures (the one that I brushed).
Does anyone experiencing this problem with adjustment brush.
Can someone help me with this? am I doing wrong with LR5?

I know off is supposed to be no color but for some reason it's a faded blue color. The little rectangle next to color that's supposed to have a sort of 'X' from the corners isn't gray, like it's supposed to be, but blue.
As far as I know, I only have 1 catalog. I went to Edit->Preferences->Presets and I do not have "store presets with catalog" checked. I checked it and have now found the presets I asked about. Thanks much.
Still can't figure out the mask overlay thing and it's really annoying to have to keep turning it off.

Issue with Clone Tool and Adjustment Brush in LR5.3

If I export a .TIFF from LR5.3 in which I've used the Clone Tool or Adjustment Brush Tool and then load the .TIFF up in Photoshop CS2 to perform further edits, I can't save the file to a .JPG - I get a '...program error...' message during the save. If I turn off the tool and export the file from LR5 again, I can do the edits in Photoshop and save it as a .jpg. The same thing will happen in Capture NX2 trying to save the LR5 exported .TIFF to .JPG. Has anyone else experienced this and are there any workarounds?

Apparently no one has experienced the issue as I posted above, but in case anyone is interested, I have discovered a workaround. For some reason, the issue manifests itself when I export the TIFF with the option 'Metadata - Include All Metadata'. If I change the Metadata option to the 'Copyright Only' or 'Copyright & Contact Info Only' I am able to open the TIFF in Photoshop, make edits as needed, and then save as a JPG. Apparently LR5 is doing something weird with the Metadata file header that Photoshop and Capture NX2 doesn't like under certain circumstances.

New to the Adjustment Brush Tool...HELP!

Hello! I am fairly new to Lightroom, and the Adjustment Brush tool specifically, and I am having some problems with it! I have watched tons of tutorials on using it, and it seems relatively easy...although when I go into my program and attempt to use it, nothing happens to my photo...say if I wanted to adjust the exposure on the face of an individual, I will go in and select the tool, decrease the exposure, make the brush and feather the size I want it, and when I go to "paint" the area I want altered, nothing happens? The pins appear as if to show me that's where I started, but then no change happens to the area I attempted to paint. Do I need to select something somewhere to be able to actually use the brush to paint? Any help is appreciated!! Thank you!!

First, verify that you have painted something. At the bottom is an option that says "Show Selected Mask Overlay", enable this. It will show the area you have painted so far.
If you see pink appear, this is where you have painted so far. Try changing your adjustments more drastically (i.e. move sliders all the way one direction or another). If you see the effect appear, dial things back until you have what you want.
If you do not see pink appear, make sure your Flow and Density sliders are up. This act like opacity, so if they are too low, you aren't laying down much "paint" with your brush.

Customized Brush...Need help

I made an arrow brush (splatter brush), which I am trying to have follow a circled path with consistent spacing and size, but can not seem to get it right. I attached images to show what I am trying to accomplish. In between the arrows I would like to add a bubble with a blurb. Please help if you can. Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Two identical circles in the same location. One has a Pattern Brush applied. (Pattern Brushes take care of the bending of the arrows, whereas Scatter Brushes do not.) The other is the spine of a Blend between two ellipses. (In order for Illustrator's poorly implemented pathBlend to work right, you have to cut the spine path.)
As you can see, the arrows are uniformly spaced. So are the centers of the ellipses. But because the aspect ratio of the ellipses is not 1:1, there is no way their centers can be uniformly spaced while their distance is also uniform. Simple geometry will not allow that. So a circle of uniformly distributed (by centers) ellipses, aligned to the page (not to the path) is never going to look uniformly distributed.

AD stopped-server caused by permission-issue ... need help

Dear all, I have an AD problem after upgrading to FIM 2010 R2 SP1 and patching the product to 4.1.3599.0. Currently we cannot export to AD because we got stopped-server with following error message in EventLog:

After searching in the FIM DB we have found the mentioned object_id and this is a group. There is permission issue, so the error message.
But the user have all permissions in AD, so it could not be the problem.
After DIDS and one more Export there is no more stopped-server and the error message is now "dn-attributes-failure".
It is also very strange, that we cannot see import updates by doing FI!
We also found that the problem occurs when adding/removing user in an AD security group(add or remove member in the group object).
Does anybody had same/similar problems and knows any solution?

Seen this issue with my step up.
Was done in any other environment ? like test ? or this is test ?
For me , test was fine but issues were in prod and AD was major impact. so comparing all Dlls versions (should be updated to latest).
Found that on prod some of the DLL were not updated to latest FIM version. Replace them with test or install source resolved the issue.

I must admit that I have not fiddled too long with LR 5.0. The reason is quite simple: its extreme slowness, even in comparison with 4.4, which is far from being fast. After slightly retouching some 40 images I fell back to 4.4 and finished testing 5.5 for a while. Anyway, in addition to the speed problem I have collected some - also not too promising - experiences:
After initially retouching the first image I wanted to copy some of its settings into the rest of the photos. Before clicking on the Sync button I had to select all the target files. Probably because of the relatively small number of images, instead of going to the "Edit / Select All" function I used "Shift+Right Arrow" for the selection. LR simply crashed...
In several cases I was not able to re-open and modify formerly 'adjustment-brushed' areas. When I moved the cursor above the relevant white 'knob-shaped' mark, nothing happened. The cursor did not even change to hand form, so the "Effect" panel remained dark and the formerly set parameters did not come up. As I kept the cursor there for ages and the image was not 'over-adjusted' (as also indicated by the small size of the associated XMP file), this failure was surely not a result of the above-referred slowness.
Once I selected an already retouched image, with the Adjustment Brush tool open. The existing adjustment mark came up over a formerly brushed area. Then, without doing anything with the open image, I moved to the next picture. To my surprise, the Adjustment Brush marks of both photos appeared on the last opened image - the one, which belonged to the previous picture and another, associated with the second picture. It goes without saying that I was not able to click on any of the Adjustment Brush marks. Closing and re-opening the Adjustment Brush tool did not help, so I had to restart LR.

I need help with the adjustment brush.

When I first started using Lightroom, the adjustment brush worked fine. Now, I will select the adjustment brush, click on the photo I'm editing, and a red circle will appear depending on the circumference I chose. If I look at the thumbnail in the navigation sidebar to the left, the red circle appears as a black circle in that photo. In addition, none of the sliders will work with the exception of the exposure adjuster. However, the effects of adjusting the exposure only appear in the thumbnail in the navigation sidebar; the main image will stay red in the area selected. Does anybody have a clue how to fix this?

Press the [o] key (overlay) to make the red overlay disappear. The black that appears in your thumbnail is likely caused by a very high negative exposure value for the brush. It also sounds like you have the Adjustment Brush panel partially collapesed. On the same line as the word Effect: on the right side is a small black triangle, click on it to expand. These are the sliders that go with the brush - not hte sliders in the basic panel which I suspect you are using.

LR5 's Adjustment Brush doesn't seem to work-does the New Radial Filter have priority?

So why in the world would I update Lightroom in the middle of a job.?
Before I was able to do in and touch up shadowy areas using (K) adjustment brush, but now it doesn;t seem to work. The radial brush does a good job for a defined area but for SPOT touching I have always used the the adjustment brush?
Is there a setting or am I missing something or is this a bug?

The presence of the Radial Filter in the tool set should have no effect on the Brush. It continues to work just as it always has. In fact, even if the RF is open (I sometimes hit it by mistake when I really want the Brush) and you click on the Brush icon, the RF closes and the Brush opens. If your Brush is not functioning properly, it is very unlikely that the RF is the reason. The usual first aid for any LR misbehavior is to close LR, remove the Preferences file from its folder and relaunch LR, allowing it to make a new preferences file. Not guaranteed to solve the problem, but worth trying.

Adjustment Brush help needed

Is anyone facing the same problem as I am? When I use adjustment brush, and edit, I use to have a button right below the picture that I am editing to click Done, but after a while the Done button is gone and all I can do now is either reset or previous under the develop, any idea? making me crazy, thanks for your answers

Pressing Enter/Return will do the same as clicking done. But I agree with Rikk that Pressing "T" should bring the toolbbar back for you.

Adjustment brush causes Lightroom to quit

I have Lightroom 4 and just updated it to the most recent version last night. I run it on a Mac OSX. Everytime I try to use the adjustment brush, Lightroom unexpectedly quits. I never experienced this problem until today. How do I resolve the issue? And could it be related to updating Lightroom? Thanks!

Adjustment brush causes screen to go black momentarily

On a few, but not all images, my screen goes black for about 5 seconds while I am using the adjustment brush in the Develop module.
I am running LR 4.4 on Windows 7, with I7 CPU and 8GB of RAM. No other apps are running; the resource monitor shows I am using very little CPU and about 50% of memory. I have an Intel HD Graphics 3000 card, and a Sony monitor running native resolution at 1920x1080.
I switched to a different image, of the same subject, and started making lots (about 50) adjustments with the brush, and I did not have any issues. I also exported the 2 images to a new catalog (to make sure I wasn't having a problem with my catalog being too large) and had the same experience.
Has anyone had this experience? Any solutions?

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Need help with adjustment brush in LR3.6, Windows 7

I have a couple questions regarding adjustment brushes in LR 3.6 which I either can't find the answer for or the answer isn't working for me.
1. I recently found out there should be Iris Enhance, Skin Soften, etc. brushes in the presets. I can't find them under the adjustment brush. I've tried going to Edit->Preferences->Presets->Restore Local Adjustment Presets as several others have suggested but it doesn't appear to do anything. I have found these files where I've read they're supposed to be (../AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Lightroom/Local Adjustment Presets) but I can't find them in LR unless they're somewhere other than the Adjustment Brush panel.
2. Also, 'O' turns the mask overlay on and off as it should. I have 'on' set to red but for some reason 'off' is set to blue and I have to desaturate it everytime I turn off the overlay mask. How do I change the "off" state to be no color?
