Grainy photos on I-Pad

photos are sometimes clear, but it seems that "night" photos, even with good lighting, comes out reallly grainy

Not much you can do, it's the camera sensor's limitaions. If it takes good photos outside in daylight the camera is OK, you are not getting the same quality of light at night. The camera has to compensate for the lower light levels by either applying a higher ISO speed and/or a longer shutter speed which will result in grainy and/or blurry photos.

What is a hard boot and will it fix my grainy photos when I take flash photographs with my iPhone 5 in the deep dark?
Someone said a hard boot fixed the problem above .....when I go outside in the dark and take a flash photograph the photograph is all grainy and dark something is wrong is a hard boot where you hold the power and the home button down the same time is that safe will it fix the problem is it a hardware or software issue please help i've had my phone for over year people at the Apple store and other people told me it will be fixed in a software update but now it's getting serious I hope they'll replace my phone if it's a hardware issue something is wrong and I am angry please help if you can

The hard boot that I'm referring to in my case is relating to the iPhone not a Mac… five Years ago with my first iPhone three GS I believe it was someone at the Apple store told me have you tried a hard boot hard boot with my iPhone is where you hold the power button and the home button down at the same time for like 10 seconds or whatever and it shuts the phone off or reboots the phone
let's say you have the phone on and you do that procedure that's what they referred to as a hard boot when it comes to the iPhone and I wanted to know if it was safe for the iPhone five to do a hard boot I did it with my 3GS with no problems
I'm just trying to be able to take a photograph of something in the deep dark from 10 to 15 feet away and have it not look grainy and dark some have said and other discussions that it was a hardware problem and they have their phones replaced other said it was a software problem but you're saying and everyone else saying it's just because the flash and the sensor is too small

  • Grainy photos in DVD

I have a NikonD90 for still photos and a Cannon HD53X for a camcorder.  When I use Adobe Premiere Elements 11 to create a DVD of the combined stills and videos I often (not every time) get grainy photos when I play the DVD on my TV.  I use the same settings to create the DVD.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

This FAQ explains the difference between still photo and video resolution.

  • IPad 2 grainy photos

Finally I can share something!  The grainy photos are a result of noise which can be reduced by a terrific app called Noise Master for $2.99:  I purchased this today and could not be more pleased.  At last, my photos are free of that grainy appearance.

I was going to use Photoshop Express - but when I downloaded the free version, it only would show the picture without noise but indicated to get this result, you would have to upgrade to the full version.  Since I already had three photo enhancement apps, which of course, did not have noise reduction, I just purchased an app for that specific need.  This app is very easy to apply - just move the slider.
I used to make graphics with Paintshop Pro and loved it.  But I share our family computer now with my husband and didn't want to monopolize the computer making graphics.  Too bad there isn't such a fun program like that for the iPad.  Or if there is one, please let me know!

  • Grainy photos/ Laggy Flash timer?

All of a sudden my iphone 4s is taking grainy photos and the flash is getting into the picture. I've restarted my phone and did a soft reset and the problem still exists. Any suggestions?

Don't suppose you have a screen cover, covering up the flash and the camera?
sounds stupid but its all i've got.

  • How do you remove a photo from I pad ?

how do you remove a photo from I Pad ?

Photos synced from a computer can only be deleted via a computer. If you no longer have access to the computer that you originally used then you can sync new photos (or just an empty folder if you want to remove them all) from your new computer which will remove all previously synced photos.
If you want some of them to remain on the iPad you will need to copy them onto your new computer from your backup so that you can re-sync them; if you don't have a backup then there are third-party iPad apps such as Simple Transfer (which has a free lite version called Simple Photo & Video Transfer) which can be used to copy photos off your iPad to a computer via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

  • Is there a fix for grainy photos in Illustrator?

I don't have Photoshop so I'm left to try and solve this problem with Illustrator. Are there any tricks with this software to help disguise grainy photos? They seem to have gotten worse once I imported them into AI and even worse after that once I reduce their size. I found that adding a crosshatch filter effect actually doesnt do a bad job, but does anyone know of any better tricks for this? Or is it only Photoshop that does the job...

You cannot edit pixel images in Illustrator.
That's rather overstated. You can apply Photoshop Effects in Illustrator, rasterize ojects, and create raster-based effects; all of which is, in fact, editing pixel images in Illustrator.
Are there any tricks with this software to help disguise grainy photos?
Generally speaking, reducing grain is  a matter of blurring (averaging color values). Smart Blur is one of the Photoshop filters installed with Illustrator. Disguising grain would be a matter of special effects, and there are dozens of Photoshop filters included with Illustrator for that. You've already tried one: Crosshatch. But beyond just telling you to try them, no one can advise you without seeing the image.
They seem to have gotten worse once I imported them into AI and even worse after that once I reduce their size.
Simply importing a raster image into Illustrator does not degrade it. The on-screen display of the image is poorer than in a proper image editing program when not zoomed/scaled to 1:1. But that doesn't reflect the actual quality of the image. And that's partly why the various raster filter dialogs provide their own previews.
Or is it only Photoshop that does the job...
If you're going to do much at all with raster images, you need at least a basic raster imaging program. Illustrator can't even properly crop a raster image. But Photoshop is certainly not the only program that "does the job." Corel PhotoPaint is a quite capable alternative to Photoshop, and Corel Graphics Studio (Draw, PhotoPaint, more) can be had as a competitive side-grade for much less than Adobe's bundles. Xara Designer Pro is a very versatile illustration program that can do much more image editing than Illustrator, and can be had for significantly less than the price of Illustrator alone. And as someone has already pointed out, there are even open-source image editors that you can download for free.

  • My Ipad is losing its charge and grainy photo quality

When I sent my iPad away to be fixed as it wasn't keeping its charge, it came back not fixed ( so its still losing charge a lot quicker than most I pads) and my photo albums came back with a grainy quality on the photos and blank boxes between them. I don't know wether to send it back again or is this normal?

as far as the battery is concerned you may need to check out your multi tasking by being on the home screen double tapping the home button and then holding down one for the application that shows up in the line in tell it shakes then go ahead and hit the minus sign on all the application. all those programs would still be running on your phone just in the back ground

  • Grainy photos in PrE 11 slideshow when burning to DVD. I have read numerous topics but still problem persists. Please help.

Well, the title pretty much says it all. I have an issue concerning grainy pictures.
First, let me give a brief introduction on what kind of project we are dealing with here. As I have been reading these forums for hours for the past days I already have a good understanding of what is of importance, so further details below.
    Introduction:
Video editing started to become a real hobby. I learned to edit using Pinnacle studio, but the numerous bugs and flows forced me to try something else. Adobe to me is 'the real deal' and you only learn to use a program like PrE by just doing it! So for this project I thought I might give it a go:
I am editing a video of my uncle's funeral. The funeral has been taped for grandchildren-yet-to-come. All (but one clip) has been filmed using the same camera. However, I do not have access to the camera and I am not the camera man. When music was played during the funeral, the camera was not rolling, so I added this music myself and put a slideshow (which was shown on the day itself) during the music.
During the project I made several quick, medium quality renders to show my cousin (who's dad has passed away) the progress I was making. During these renders, I could not note any photo quality issues. Ofcourse also because of the low quality render settings.
Anyway. When I finished editing I was pretty happy with the end result. My cousin approved so I decided to burn it onto a DVD so it could be further distributed to the rest of the family. Burning failed initially, but later after a reboot everything worked fine. Then I played to DVD on my TV and found out that the quality of the pictures used in the slideshows was horrible. I could not even recognise faces, it was that grainy!
    First. The 'specs':
    Camera used: Sony DCR55
Project settings: PAL > Hard disk, flash memory camcorders > Widescreen 48kHz (I live in a PAL region: Netherlands)
UNchecked: Force selected Project Settings on this project
    Then the photos part:
    All photos JPG
So, onto the part of 'what I have already tried' (and failed, otherwise I would not have been typing this)
What I have tried so far after reading dozens of discussions:
    1) Check if the DVD burner was not to blame. So I burned to a folder on my HDD. Similar result as to what I see on my TV when I burn it onto a DVD and play it.
    2) Recheck project settings. Everything seems OK to me. Also when I use right-click on the added clips to check whether settings are still OK. They are. Also for the pictures, which surprised me because the widescreen video clips use non-square pixels and the photos obviously don't. (Thumbs up for Adobe)
    3) Resize pictures to used resolution (720 x 576) before adding them. No improvement, exactly the same.
    4) Turn off 'scale to 'framesize'. No difference.
Finally, I want to address the term 'quality'. Below you will find a scaled down image to the same resolution as mentioned before, compared to a still of the DVD:
Upper pic is rescaled using MS paint. Still looks pretty sharp.
Bottom is a still from the DVD file. Note the 'graining' and the horizontal lines.
This leaves me with 2 questions:
    1) What can I do to get rid of the poor quality pictures
    2) Why do I lose horizontal pixels (as can be seen in the bottom picture)
If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

    Dear ATR,
I apologize for my late response. I was on holiday

Question...Your camera is a miniDV camcorder....what did you capture from it and into what....
Did you do a DV data capture firewire into Premiere Elements Capture Window to get DV.avi Widescreen (any mention of Type 1 or Type 2)
    or
Did you do HDV data capture firewire into Premiere Elements Capture Window to get HDV (MPEG2.mpg)
From your description of your video (720 x 576) it would seem your captures gave you DV AVI Widescreen. Is that correct?
In your run throughs so far, has the video presented as poorly as the jpegs?
Add On...In those last 3 screenshots, what were the resolutions
    Still resized - 1920 x 1080?
    DVD-VIDEO  screen capture of video? - 720 x 576 16:9 which would display after encoding about 1054 x 576
    MP4 - ?
First. The camera is not a miniDV camcorder, but a harddisk recorder, which is why I chose that particular preset (PAL > Hard disk, flash memory camcorders > Widescreen 48kHz). source: http://www.sony.lv/support/en/content/cnt-specs/DCR-SR55E/list
So it's fairly easy. Shoot video's. Connect to PC and just copy paste the video files of the camera onto the computer.
This gives a resolution of 720x576. With a pixel aspect ratio of 1,4587 (as shown by PrE, when I click on a clip > show properties)
The video does not really look that bad. Actually there is hardly any noticeable difference between the original un-editted videos and the edited complete version.
    Concerning the 3 screenshots.
The first is the same as before: a rescaled image using MS Paint. Scaled from original 3264 x 1836 to 1024 x 576
The second is a capture from the DVD file (which was burned to a folder)
The third is a capture from a created MP4 video file
Clearly photo 1 is the best. Photo 3 is still acceptable to me, but photo 2 (DVD) is unacceptable if you ask me.
Hope this new info helps. Thanks for your efforts so far.

  • Grainy Photos in Album Page

    Hi,
I'll start by saying that I've searched discussions and read the tutorials...and I'd prefer to fix this issue without resorting to codes/outside albums.
The photos published in the Album page are quite grainy/pixelated. I really need these to appear as sharp as possible as this is an artist's homepage. Will I need to publish the photos in their original size? I'm using the Leaf Print template and the website (under construction and all) is http://www.raraavisart.com
    Thanks,
    Shanna
BTW, a similar question was asked in an unanswered thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11320137&#11320137

What were the sizes of the original images that were used in the album. It appears that you've set the album to 1 column which will increase the image size of the photo used for that image. This demo page show the different sizes of images used for the different parts of a My Albums page: AlbumImageSize .
Try moving the spacing slider to the left a bit in the Media Index settings pane to reduce the album image size somewhat. The pixelation might be reduced to an acceptable level.

  • Photos from i-Pad to internet

Is there any way to upload photos to the internet from an iPad without using i-tunes or other pc application?  I would love to be able to get my photos to the internet while travelling when I only have my i-Pad with me.

This kb article explains how to delete the backup. The information is at the end of the article.
Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes
You have to start all over again. If you were to keep using the old iPad and wanted to contNiue to backup, you would have to restore as new after you delete the backup. You will not be able to use this backup at all now. So you will have to start all over with the new iPad without using the encrypted backup.

  • How to copy more Microsoft Photo to I-pad mini.

I have yesterday boucht an I-pad mini. I use the latest version of I-Tunes to copy data from my Microsoft computer to the Miini. All worked fine till I started to Synchronise Photo files from my Computer. At first I could make a file and all the Photo's were placed. I selected an other file on the PC and synchronised that one as well. I was confused to see that the file I had copyed was cleand and replaced by the new selected file.
I tried out everything but I can not keep any Photo's on tyhe I-pad. Even when I make a new album and copy by hand copy the synchronised photo's in it, It will clear that album as well as I start to synchronize an other photo file from the PC.
Can anyone help me to keep the albums after synchronizing more than one Album from my pc?

If the option come up to copy, then tap on the word copy and the text or image will be copied to the invisible clipboard on the iPad. You will be able to paste that text or image into a text block, an email or anywhere that text and images can be pasted into.
You have to have a place to paste whatever you copied or what you copied stays in that invisible clipboard until you copy something else which will overwrite the last thing that you copied.

  • Grainy photos in iWeb

I edited some pictures in Photoshop Elements 10. The pics look great in both photoshop and iphoto, but when I go an drag them into iWeb, and then click on the photo, all my pictures are grainy. How do I prevent this from happening?

Where into iWeb are you dragging the photos? Onto a page?  Into an photo page? What's the pixel dimension of the photos that you're adding to the site?
is the site online?  If so what's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?
