Grainy pics in video after burning to dvd

I bought a new computer and now have windows 8. I bought a new premere Elements 11 because my version 9 didn't work. In the past I have done a lot of videos with slide shows and videos on the same dvd. I tryed doing the pictures in organizer and the pics didn't fit. Then when I selected frame fit in video the pictures got very grainy. I then looked into it and it said not to have the frame fit checked so I unchecked it. Then the pictures did not fin in the frame of the video. So then I tryed doing the slide part of the show in Movie maker and save it and re insert it. It looks terrible. I have don't this for years i movie maker and my old elements and the videos with the slide shows looked great once I burned them to a dvd. I don't know where to go to find out how to do this. The slide show looks great on the computer screen but once you burn to a dvd it looks so pixilated and grainy. Help

t us begin.
Given you have Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 8 64 bit.
1. What video, photos, music are going into this project and how do you intend to export your edited content for others to view it....to a file save on your computer hard drive for play back with a computer player or burn to disc DVD, AVCHD, or Blu-ray?
I have several different pictures all jpegs and videos from different cameras all different sizes. I have figured out how to resize thepictures in the CS3 bridge program. I burn them to DVDs for dvd players
We need to know this information so that we can set up the project correctly.
a. What are the pixel dimensions of the photos and how many of them are there? Are these in jpg, .psd, tif, raw, formats.
all different but I did resize them
b. What are your video properties...video and audio compression, frame size, frame rate, aspect ratio 4:3 or 16:9, file extension. If you do not know, you can get that information from a properties readout from the free MediaInfo (tree view)
http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo
this I don't understand and will look at the above link as you suggested
or, if you give me the name of the camera that these videos came from and the setting that you used, I will try to figure out your video properties.
I have cannon camcorder and other videos from friends which I am not sure so I will look at the above link
c. Are you going to use narration, soundtrack in your project.?
yes I add music and some are tracks from audasity that I cut from other videos and some are MP3s and some WMA
Premiere Elements 11 takes over the role of setting the project preset for a project. Sometimes it does it OK, sometimes not. That project preset setting directs the program to set the correct space in the Edit Mode Monitor for your particular video. So, you can see how video properties and project preset settings are so important to setting up the project.
I have issues trying to edit video because it jumps and the sound continues but the video portion stops so that makes it so difficult to try and edit clips
Please indicate if you wish to proceed:
a. Create an Elements Organizer 11 slideshow and transfer it to Premiere Elements 11 for completion
or
b. Use only Premiere Elements 11 workspace to create, edit, and export the project.
Let us start here and expand into a more detailed step by step based on your answers to all of the above.
Along the way, please do not hesitate to ask if you need clarification on anything that I have written.
Thank you.

I am so grateful for your help. Thank you so much

  • Why are my pics mixed up after burning a DVD??

I am new to Mac, and new to burning DVDs on my computer. When I tried to burn a DVD using a burn folder, the pics in various events were completely mixed up, even though I drug the separate event folders from iPhoto to the burn folder. Events, or folders, were eliminated. Every event was "mixed". Next, I tried burning only one event from the "burn command" within iPhoto. Pics within this single event were also completely shuffled...not in their original order. How do I get my pics to copy in their shown order? Also, burning from iPhoto must require me to merge all events? (Can't add other events to the same DVD). Brought back over 300 photos from Puerto Rico. My only "burns" show us crossing the island every which way, back and forth! HELP....

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. When you burn any files to a disk and view them in the finder they will always be listed alphanumerically. So you will have to rename them in iPhoto and export them to the desktop using the title as the new file name. Use the Photos->Batch Change menu option. The will be retitled and eventually renamed when exported to text - 01.jpg, text - 02.jpg, etc. Once renamed they will be listed in that alphanumerical order when viewed by the system on a disk or in a folder.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How do I create Themes/Chapters in my video before burning to DVD so that Scenes can be selected when DVD is loaded to player?

How do I create Themes/Chapters in my video before burning to DVD so that Scenes can be selected using on screen icons when DVD is loaded to player?

"I don't know what you mean by this. There are no chapter markers in FCP." - you puzzle me by this! Yave You ever made some DVDees after editing in FCP 7? Every chapter in the timeline could be transfered to DVD Studio Pro, and then used in DVD navigation. This is very important feature, decause you don't have to lookfor some parts of your video while creating navigation! Less work - more joy! Another downscore of FCPX!

  • Slideshow shaking after burning to DVD

I have created a DVD containing a video and a slideshow. After burning the DVD and dropping it into my DVD player (actually two different DVD players -- different ages / brands), I notice that while the video is steady and plays fine, I am getting shaking of slides in the slideshow. The shaking is slight, but very noticable. In fact, at times the shaking looks more like a slight bounce (up and down) of the slide, almost evenly spaced in time (i.e. every slide gets a slight bounce). I have tried burning another DVD (burn another), and now I'm starting the burning process from the beginning, so that the rendering can happen again.
I am burning off my Powerbook's superdrive. Has anyone experienced this, and/or do you have any ideas why this might be happening?
    Brad

TV - let's talk NTSC - sends one frame of information every 1/30 sec. To minimize flicker, each frame contains two fields of information that are interlaced and transmitted at 1/60 sec. In a moving image this eliminates the 1/30 sec flicker. You will see the interlacing when you make a screen capture of a video image with motion - items in motion will appear as 'teeth on a comb' because the two fields are time separated by 1/60 sec.
Now lets talk your still images. Lets say each image is displayed on your TV screen for 10 seconds. During that ten seconds, your screen is constantly switching back and forth between two separate field images. Every 1/30 sec a field (lets call it the even field) is displayed followed by a different field (lets call it the odd field) 1/60 sec later.
Keep in mind these two fields each represent 1/2 of your original image - or every other line of your image (that's why they are said to be interlaced).
If there in no fine detail, the even and odd fields will be the same - but if there IS fine detail, the two fields will be slightly different. Since they are slightly different (not noticable in area without shap detail) the eye will detect the flicker on a TV set that has interlacing. A computer display (usually) is not an interlaced display, so there is no flicker.
Note that THIS IS NOT A FAULT of iDVD! It's one of the problems of a system like NTSC video that uses interlaced video fields.
I had suggested slightly blurring your image - the point is to make the even and odd fields exactly the same so there will be no flicker.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - it is possible to have a still image that is too sharp on a DVD!
Note that if you eliminate the flicker on a TV set, the image will look slight soft on a computer monitor. Which is important to you - a TV set or a computer monitor?
    very strange.
No, it's not strange when you understand what's going on, is it?
BTW, digital images taken in low light level conditions can have lots of noise (that looks like film grain). This noise can REALLY make a TV image shimmer because there are major differences between the even and odd fields.

  • After burning a DVD one or more of the scenes wont play?

Adobe Premier 11 - After burning a DVD one or more of the scenes wont play, the scene is showing and highlights but wont play...this has only recently just started to happen. I thought it may have been the physical DVD disk issue, but have tried others and same thing is occuring?

Does iTunes let you burn CDs even though you have installed iTunes 8? There are many users - me included - who have lost the ability to burn CDs after we installed iTunes 8. I am curious to learn what may be different about your settings versus those of us who are being adversely impacted. Do you know what the UpperFilters and LowerFilters are in your registry for disc burning?
    Thank you.

  • How to Make a Still from Video and Burning a DVD

    Hello All,
I am using FCP HD and I would like to know how do you make a still photo from video footage?
Also I have to burn an editing project to dvd. I don't know how to use studio pro, but the person said that it needs to be a ntsc full resolution version. I am not sure what that means.
The project is about 10 minutes long and this person had me using the H.264. I have been playing around and I think I not doing something write because when I send the project to compressor it tells me that I have like 200+ hours befoe it outputs.
Could someone give me some simple instructions using the H.264 on how to do a good large size (over 320x240) QT movie to dvd?
    THANKS...

To export a still park the playhead on the image you want, mark IN OUT, go to FILE>EXPORT>QUICKTIME CONVERSION. Click on QUICKTIME MOVIE and In the dropdown choose STILL IMAGE.
You will have to De-Interlace it in Photoshop after you export.
    As for making the DVD:
    Shane's Stock Answer #3:
To export your DV project so there is no loss in quality, simply go to the File Menu and select EXPORT>QUICKTIME MOVIE. Not Quicktime Conversion, fot this will compress the footage. Make sure the settings match your timeline settings, make it self contained and you are set.
Import this into iDVD or DVDSP and burn your DVD. Don't go the h.264 route.

  • Unable to select individual chapters after burning to DVD.

I created a wedding DVD with six different chapters in IDVD. Five are videos and one is a slide show. After burning the disc everything seemed fine except I am unable to select the chapters in my DVD player. Is this because I used a DVD+R DL for the blank media instead of a DVD-R DL? I had to use a DL disc because of the size.

    Hi
You are familiar with the - long going - iDVD BUG !
This been hunting us in several versions - and never been corrected.
To set it of - You make a movie in iMovie or FinalCut - With Chapters
Import it into a new project in iDVD
You see something in need of correcting
    Return to Video-editing program (application)
When back in iDVD - it will notice and ask You to either
    • Up-Date - or
    • Cancel
    NON WILL WORK
    Resulting DVD if made will
    • Play movie OK
    • All Chapters (Sceen Selections) - WILL START AS Chapter ONE !
    Medicine:
    • In iDVD Trash old movie - AND - Clear iDVD Assets - OR -
    • I favor - Create a Brand New iDVD PROJECT - and do not go back if not very important

    the
program i have- Flash to Video Encoder PRO (it's on
    geovid.com), it

  • Shaky Video when Burned to DVD

    Hello all,
Call me an amatuer when it comes to camcorders. I have a Sony DCR-SR40 HDD camcorder and when I take video recorded on this device, transfer to my Mac, and then edit in HD 6, the video (when played back on a DVD) comes out shaky for action video where people are moving. It is almost like there are tracers when they are moving.
When the raw footage is played back in its native mpg format it looks fine, and when it is burned using Sony's "One Touch" DVD burn the video is not shaky or look like it has tracers, it looks fine. I am thinking it has to do with the quality of the image being recorded by the video camera and that when it gets compiled/burned to DVD it causes the shakiness. It has done this in iMovie HD 6 and in Adobe Elements 3.0. Is there a fix for this?
If it is just a camcorder issue, any recommendations for a good quality camcorder to capture sports footage (Football) that would burn great in iMovie and not have that shakiness/tracers?

    >MPEG2 exported from Premeire, to quicktime, to encore
That is, to me, a backwards work flow
Mpeg2 is an output format... but you are using it as your source file in Premiere... what is the source of the file?
Read Bill Hunt on a file type as WRAPPER http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037
    What is a CODEC... a Primer http://forums.adobe.com/thread/546811
What CODEC is INSIDE that file? http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... a screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing
    For PC http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ or http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
    For Mac http://mediainfo.massanti.com/
You are then exporting to Quicktime... which Encore must then encode to MPEG2 to make a DVD (the VOB on a DVD is a renamed MPEG)
You are starting with a compressed file... exporting which may add more compression... and compressing again in Encore... it is no wonder your DVD has lost quality

  • Hello,  I am have problems with coruption of the photos in a slide show after burning the DVD in iDVD.  This coruption does not always appear when you preview the project.  I have slowed down the burn rate to 1X and kept the quality to professional.

I am having a great deal of problems with Data coruption in slide shows after I have burned a DVD in iDVD.  I have changed burn rate from best to 1X with no difference in the coruption.  I have the quality set to professional with no improvement.  The size of the project is near 3.95, so it should fit on a single layer burn.  Should I use either iMovie to create the slide show or "Photo to Movie"?  Also, can anyone comment on how I preserve the highest quality picture resolution with a slide show?  If I do use iMovie or Photo to Movie,  the file size should exceed the 4.2 size so, will I have to buy new DVD's which are capable to handle the double layer burn and upto 8 GB?  What DVD's are recommended?  Any preferred brand?  Are there problems with burning with double layer?  I read on this blog of numerous problems.

DVDs are LOW resolution by today's standards - only about 0.3 megapixels - so there is no way they your images on a TV set will look "High Definition".  See Preparing images for iDVD slideshows at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/6675.html for recommendations on image sizes to use.  Using larger images won't give you better  quality, andf in some cases, will lower you image quality because  the Quicktime resizing that occurs isn't the best.

  • After burning to dvd, using idvd, movie stops on frame but audio continues

After creating imovie which works perfectly, and also after trasferring to idvd works perfectly, i have problems when playing back dvd after burning to disc. The movie stops but the audio continues. I altered the clip but same thing happened in next clip after next burn. I don't think its a corrupt clip, but maybe something to do with WHEN it occurs in the movie. Any suggestions? After 4 goes and many hours burning I am stumped!

    Hi Tomma1
And welcome to apple discussions. It's good you chose to use 16 bit audio for all of your source material. And assuming this is accurate info .... From what I can tell, you are doing nearly everything correctly. However let me ask you a few questions.
    1. Are you using the boot volume (the hard drive where iDvd and Leopard are actually located) to encode your dvd (yes/no)?
    2. More importantly, does the disc image also go out of sync when played thru apple's dvd player app? or does it only happen on the burned dvd-r?
    3. Are you using Verbatim Dvd-R or an alternate brand? if it's the latter, then for troubleshooting purposes while on this forum; please use Verbatim Dvd-R. (it helps us eliminate additional / possible variables). Thereafter feel free to use the media that works best for you and your mac.
    4. Have you tried an alternate encoding setting other than pro quality setting? and do you get the same results?

  • After burning 3 dvds, got error 0x80020022 on MATSHITA DVD-R   UJ-845 Drive. Used 1x speed. iMac G5 PowerPC

    MATSHITA DVD-R   UJ-845:
    Error message: 0x80020022.
Got this after burning 5 other discs. Two of which didn't burn and ejected. When I inserted them again, they did not appear on desktop. Had to use Disc Utility to eject them.   After those two issues, this message showed up when re-trying the burn process.
What must I do to get this drive to burn the discs?

Thanks for the info.  I have another question pertaining to your answer:  "What speed would be best to use so the drive doesn't become HOT--- lowest speed for a longer period of time. . . OR . . . at a faster speed for a lesser time?
Also, I tried using it half-hour later and got same result.  I then waited 1 hour longer and it worked then.
Thanks to all letting me know to cool it off!

  • Ipod touch video to Burn to dvd?

I'm a teacher and I need to use my IPOD touch to video my class. Can I burn such a video to a DVD? and How?

Transfer the video to your computer using the procedure outlined in the iPod touch user's guide. From there you'll need appropriate editing software, if you want to edit the video, and DVD burning software to create the disk. If you have a Mac, it should have come with iMovie for editing and iDVD for creating and burning the DVD. If you have a Windows system, there will be similar software though I can't make specific recommendations.
    Regards.

  • Choppy playback after burning data dvd in toast

Hi Ive just finished burning a copy of various short clips which I exported as a quicktime files from FCP onto my desktop then saved them as quicktime mov. through QT player which was successful enough.I then burned a copy of this QT movie in toast as a data dvd compatible for Mac & PC viewing. When I played the dvd in QT 7.4.5 the playback was choppy but the sound was fine. I then played the same disc on my G5 desktop running panther and QT 7.4.1 and it was absolutely fine.Is this process rather a roundabout way of doing things ? and what could be causing this choppy playback on my laptop?

Data DVD's and regular movie DVD are not read in the same way. A regular movie that is being read by your DVD player app is being stream too...and the player is set up to read from a DVD that way.
On the other hand a data DVD the data is just setting there...The DVD player can't send the video to Quicktime fast enough to play smoothly. That's why you need to copy the data DVD to the hard drive.
It would be if you had a 1gig image on a DVD and tried to edit it with Photoshop from the DVD. Photoshop would constantly bog down trying to read from the DVD while editing the image. Same if you had video files on a DVD tried and to it them from a editing app. The editing app not getting the data fast enough making editing very slow. Sometimes the program that's trying to read the from the DVD will freeze or crash. Best to copy the data from the DVD to the hard drive.
