Grandfathered plan looking for a new phone with sim card

I have a droid x2 which has no sim card. I want to get a new phone, or a used new phone, to not lose my grandfathered plan. All the phones I'm looking at have sim cards, which I've never had in the 15 years I've been with verizon. I want to make sure I go about this in the best way to assure I don't lose my unlimited data.

Very happy after getting it to stop keeping the display lit after charging completes. Battery life blows my Galaxy Nexus out of the water. The GNex was like an electric car with a 30 mile range. Always looking for a charge. The S5's screen is gorgeous. OLED is a must-have for me. Signal strength is better than the GNex and the S5 is XLTE-ready so you can get faster speeds in those markets. I got 69.08/18.95 in Kansas City back in May. Other XLTE areas have had download speeds of high 20s to low 30s. Performance is good. The interface feels smooth and responsive. I even like the look. It's like something out of a 50s diner.
My only real gripe is the storage. 16 gigs is pretty sad these days and only 10 gigs are available. I know you can add a 128 gig card (I have) but few apps load completely to the card. Heck, lots of apps won't put anything on the card. A flagship phone should have 32 and 64 gig options.
I also wish I could just load the bare OS and skip all the bells and whistles that Samsung's added.

Looking for a new phone...

So my phone was stolen and i'm looking to replace it. I don't care for flip phones and i've fallen in love with the touch phones and smart phones, but there is no way i'm going to pay for a data plan when i won't ever use it and if i did, very rarely. ive looked online and found several lists of basic phones and smartphones that do not require a data plan. I love LG phones and have had several over my 10 years of having verizon. I don't have to have a super new phone (although the new iphone looks nice!!) but i would like to have a touch screen phone and a basic smartphone if at all possible. So far i have found a couple different ones i like. The LG Fathom, LG cosmos and LG Phoenix have all caught my eye. Do any of these not require a data package? Also i know someone who has a phone and doesn't pay extra for internet but uses the wifi signals to use the net and app stores. Can any of these phones use free wifi or do they charge extra?

The only Verizon feature/basic phones (meaning no data package required) that I've ever seen with Wi-Fi are the Kin One(m) and Kin Two(m). (The "m" models have software that was modified from when they were originally released as smartphones for a short time.) Anyway, you'd have to buy those models elsewhere, as Verizon no longer sells them.
Otherwise, every device I've seen with Wi-Fi is considered a smartphone and requires a data package. In order to use Wi-Fi, you'd have to buy hardware (phone) that indicates Wi-Fi capabilities in the specs.
If you don't mind a basic phone with no Wi-Fi, the LG Cosmos Touch got pretty good reviews. I believe Amazon still sells it.

Looking For TV through G5 with Tuner Card

Looking for a tuner card to plug n the co axil cable for the cable box to the G5 to have the Tv cable and computer play on one screen, so I can elinimate my physical tv all together. if there is a tuner card i can put into the G5 and plug the cable wire in to the card on the back of the G5 then output to the screen, This solves the problem of needing two screens in the house... Looking for a new PDA/Phone

I'm looking for a new PDA/Phone that is iSync 2.4 compatible for my new AT&T account. I will switch to iPhone early in the new year but need a PDA/Phone now. Appantly AT&T is out of Nokia PDAs' at the moment.

But I can not find a list of compatible devices under 10.6 . Only a 10.5 device list is online.
The 10.6 iSync Compatible devices list is still up-to-date except for the references to Palm devices. Apple has not added any new devices to iSync since Leopard was released in October 2007.
Mobile me and other work arounds are also not an option for me , as I travel allot and the international data roaming charges would easily exceed the price of the iPhone within one month.
MobileMe works over WiFi too, so you could just turn off 3G/GPRS data whilst roaming and sync when connected via WiFi.
So, I am looking for a good / small / stable pda/phone with a good keyboard that can sync Ical / and address book over bluetooth.
Do you mean a you want a physical QWERTY keyboard? That's going to limit your choices considerably, and any Windows Mobile or Blackberry devices will need third-party software to sync with a Mac. Palm's WebOS is not yet syncable with a Mac except for going via Google over-the-air, and the same is true with Android devices.
There are hundreds of Nokia & Sony Ericsson phones that sync via Bluetooth and have POP3/IMAP email clients, but almost all don't have a QWERTY keyboard.
Also, unless you buy the phone unlocked, you'll be even more limited by what your network provider offers.

How do I get the subsidized price for a new phone when I already have a plan?

I have been a Verizon customer since September. I have a dumb phone, and I'm really having trouble keeping up with my life. Now that the Droid 4 is coming out in February I've decided that it's time to upgrade. The Droid is coming out at $199 with a two year contract, I think. My question is, what do I have to do to get the subsidized price for the phone? In my current contract I can't upgrade until 2013. Should I cancel that contract all together and just pay the ETF? Then get a new contract with the new phone? Can I even do that? Also, would there be any way to keep my phone number in this situation?

Actually, if you are not ALREADY on a Family Plan, it WILL end up costing you more than this extra $10/month. For example, if you are on the 450 minute Individual Plan, you are paying $40/month and possibly $20/month for unlimited texting. The smallest Family Plan(700 minutes/month) would put you at $70/month and if you want the same unlimited texting, it would be an additional $30/month. This is $100/month vs $60/month on an Individual Plan which comes out to an additional $40/month x 19 months(24 months - 5 months you have already completed on your original line) = $760 ADDITIONAL you would pay until you could cancel your original line. If you wanted to keep your original #, though, you would instead pay an ADDITIONAL $960($40 x 24 months) until you could cancel your new line. Either way, it would MUCH cheaper to just pay full retail for the new phone.
Remember, this is ONLY if you are currently on an Individual Plan and change to a Family Plan with 2 phones. If you are currently on a Family Plan with others, and have the ability to add an additional line, your additional payments would not be this high.

I have just updated my iPhone 4 with latest IOS 7 and now wi fi greyed out and Bluetooth not working. Tried reset, restore everything - no use. Its out of warranty too. I refuse to pay for a new phone when clearly this is an apple issue not phone issue.

I have not had wifi since November when I upgraded to the newest IOS version. I called the Apple help line and they told me some things to do and I tried them all and they worked for a few hours and then wifi shut off again. I kept doing what they told me and it worked for a couple more days and then I could never turn it on again. My blue tooth doesn't work either. I had to actually increase my data usage with AT&T becuase of this. When I did that in December I went to the Apple store and was told that it is a hardware issue and since my phone is out of warranty I would have to pay for a new phone because they could not fix the issue. My upgrade isn't up until June 2014 so not only do I have to wait for the upgrade and I am not paying for a new phone but I have to pay $10 plus extra a month on my cell phone bill because I was going over on my Data!!! I have been beyond upset about this and Apple is not doing anything about this nor did they offer up some way to resolve the issue because obviously it is not just some rare incident if several people are having this issue. Who knows how many people out there have had this issue and have not said anything about it. Now there is a newer update that I can't do because it requires wifi in order to download.
June can not get here fast enough and I may not go back to Iphone after dealing with this for so long with no help from Apple.

The MacBook Pro with Retina display is worth, but it's limited. Note that you can't upgrade anything after buying it without voiding the warranty. The same happens with the MacBook Air.
Simply, if you have to run heavy applications, buy the MacBook Pro with Retina display. If not, buy the MacBook Air

If I take my Iphone 5c to the apple store to be fixed with the service charge of $269, if they can't fix it do they replace the phone? Or will I have to pay retail price for a new phone?

Looking for an Access Point with 2 Ethernet ports and powered via PoE

Hi Gurus,
I am looking for an Access Point with 2 Ethernet ports and the access point can be powered via PoE. I have been assigned with a requirement where the rooms need to have access point as well as an Ethernet Cable provided from the Access Point as a backup for connectivity.
The room only has one data cable coming from the main IT room as well does not have a spare power socket to power the Access Point. Will be good if it can be centrally controlled or controller based.
Any recommendations?

For the backup plan, the cheapest solution may be to just run a couple new cat5e drops to the room(est cost $250). If not then purchase a small Cisco POE switch for the room(est cost $2k). For wireless I would purchase a POE enabled Cisco AP. But you will need to verify the POE switch/blade you will be connecting the AP to can power the AP you buy. I got burned by that issue when we purchased some Cisco 1251 AP's with dual radios and they needed more power than our 4500 POE blades could handle. We were told we would need to purchase new 48 port 10/100/1000 blades or power injectors. Our Cisco sales vendor took the heat for that mistake.

My 3GS is dying and it's synced to an older computer. I have tons of datafiles as well as apps, music, text messages, etc. that I need to get moved to the new iphone4 I'm getting. Then I need to move the sync to a newer computer so that I can sync the new phone and new computer.
I understand how to get my apps to transfer to a new pc. That's not the issue. It's getting ALL the data from the 3GS to the 4 and then to a new computer.
