Grant Access to folder for everyone - URGENT!!!!

I've created a folder with the "wwsbr_api.add_folder" function, and I want to add privileges to another group or user. The problem arises when a user, different from the one who created the folder, tries to access to the documents contained in that folder. He/she won't be able to access this documents as there is no grant access for them.
Can I give a grant access in that folder to another group or user with another API function?
Version Portal 3.0.9.8.0

Which subsystem to grant access to proxy for executing a TSQL step?

I want to test something while using a credential I setup. I want to simply run a TSQL statement step in a job, and do this as a specific proxy user. Which subsystem do I grant the proxy to have access to?

CAN'T ACCESS SPAM FOLDER FOR MAIL

All of my mail went to the spam fold for the first couple days, I think I got that figured out, but my mail is in a "spam" fold that I can't seem to locate. There are some messages that I need to get to.
If I apple 6 the "junK" fold er isn't acessible.

Make sure your spam filter is set to send email it thinks is spam to a Folder and not to just delete spam. Then you will have the option to check the spam folder.

Disable access to folder where software places logs

Hello, i have this little issue. I use a custom made software which writes logs
to certain directory. The logs are not needed for the software to work, however neither I or someone else can modify the software, but i would like to prevent it from creating logs. The logs are made in .txt . Oh and software/machine are/must be running with
admin privileges (UAC is disabled).
I tried locking the folder with cacls foldertolock /e /p everyone:n , after doing
this i cannot access it via explorer, but the logs keep getting saved in that folder.
I also tried adding +r attribute to the folder, but it didn't affect it in any
way.
Any other things i could try? I would prefer that this could be made remotely via
cmd/registry/whatever.

How is this done - within one file or each second a new file? Which I cannot imagine, this would be very bad programming. How many files are there after lets say an hour?
NTFS: Simply put Access Denied on the folder for Everyone group - or for the user account, in whose context the software is running. (Context menu/properties/security)
Since you are "not techsavy" my hint is still, that you should eventually leave the software alone, since programs, which run into unexpected situations, can become very mad and crash - or even cause the server crashing.
Running something to delete some files every second would put a lot of strain on the machine. So better any automated deletion (which could be done by a batch in a scheduled task) should not happen more often than maybe all 15, 30 or 60 minutes.

Hey, thanks again for the reply. Well it depends what you're doing with the software. It will write everything to one file, once u make some changes i will start writing to another. These logs are most often used to import to postgreSQL and view reports
/ processed logs are moved to another folder after this. Why are you asking though, is it possible to somehow make changes to files instead of folders?
I can 100% confirm that disabling loging will not affect the software.

That's odd. Does this mean that you want to have the request or that you can't see the photos even though you enabled it over the privacy/photos?
If you enable it - it's not necessary to get the request. If you want the request the safest way to get it back is to reset the privacy settings by going to iPad settings/General/Reset/Reset Location & Privacy

Unbootable after Permissions for "Everyone" = "No access"

I may have done something bad. I happened to look at permissions for my main (internal) drive for my iMac, "Macintosh HD." It said that access for "Everyone" was "Read only." I thought to myself, "I don't want everyone able to read everything on my disk." I also vaguely remembered (possibly incorrectly) that I might have changed that myself in the past. So I thought I would try it set at "No access." The first bad symptom was that my laser printer stayed in a state of being paused, regardless of hitting the "Resume printer" button repeatedly. So I thought something was hung up only with printing, and I tried to reboot the computer. Unfortunately, it would not boot back up, getting hung up at the gray screen with Apple logo and “spinning Stonehenge”! It did boot up with the Mac OS X Install DVD, which saw “Macintosh HD,” so I used Disk Utility to repair the drive, which Disk Utility said was OK, and it repaired some corrections (nothing conspicuously about “Macintosh HD” as a drive). Rebooting to “Macintosh HD” still did not work! (For some reason, it would not boot into the recent version of Drive Genius DVD.) It booted into TechTool Pro 6.0.3’s DVD, which made some favorable changes to the volume structure, and it corrected some permissions. Afterward, the iMac still would not boot into “Macintosh HD.” My latest Time Machine backup is a little bit old (a week or two), and I do have newer backups of certain files on an external drive, so I could restore it via Time Machine if necessary. But I suppose I would rather undo what caused this inaccessibility, tentatively my change of the permissions because all of this happened immediately after that change, and have everything as it was yesterday. Any advice and lessons would be appreciated.

Does it matter if the screen at which it is stalled is not blue (which might be the background before Users' accounts appear?)? It is a gray screen with Apple logo. I have also found the following post which gives a different solution: https://discussions.apple.com/message/15469394#15469394 That user described the stall as similar to mine: "the gray screen of death with the perpetual wheel." That solution apparently requires use of Terminal. Can I access that via the Mac OS X Install DVD?

Progress Reporter. I can't access,not granted access for direct login

I am trying to Access to Progress Reporter.
Web Access is running correctly and I got access with "admin" user. But when I am trying to use the admin user for Progress Reporter I got this message:
Logon denied for[admin]. You are not granted access for direct login,please contact your administrator. Please choose 'OK' to make corrections or 'Cancel' to exit tha application.
I don't know how to create user for Progress Report if that is the problem. Please help me......I will appreciate your help a lot.

Task Sequence fails only when acccessing one folder and below steps have been tried.
- Network access account is configured and its working fine for all other secondary site
- NAA is having access to folder.
- NAA is added to Server Local Admin Access Group.
- Deleted folder and Replicated from central
- Granted everyone access to folder.
It works only when other Admin Account is updated in place of existing NAA details on primary server. However the same NAA is working fine on all Primary and Secondary servers. Issue is only with one secondary server.
Its very strange issue!!!

i have created website for intranet and hosted it on server. for that i needed to create login "IIS APPPOOL\hi" in sql server 2008 for my application
to access my "reportdb" database. "IIS APPPOOL\hi" has sysadmin and public server roles in sql server 2008. And i have default login"sa" same
as "IIS APPPOOL\hi". these are working correctly. Now I want these two logins to access"reportdb" for all
operations in database and remaining all logins should be denied to access"reportdb". My Sql Server 2008 is having mixed mode (windows authentication and Sql authentication). plz help me

I think what Tauseef is requesting is to keep access for the 2 sysadmins & deny access to everyone else, correct?
As Uri mentioned, by being part of sysadmin role, “IIS APPPOOL\hi” & “sa” would have access to everything in the server, and nobody else should have access to the DB unless explicitly being granted access.
If you would really deny anyone else access to the database, you can potentially deny connect to public, and only sysadmins (who override permissions) would be able to connect; although I would strongly recommend against such practice.
Something else I would like to recommend against is the usage of sysadmin for what may not be a DBA role (IIS appPool). Following the least-privilege principle, I would recommend having a non-administrator user for applications that has enough capabilities
to perform the tasks needed.
The main risk is that a SQL injection (SQLi) bug in your application would lead to a complete compromise of your SQL server.
If there are app tasks that would require elevated permissions, I would recommend encapsulating the logic in a stored procedure and either use impersonation or digital signatures to accomplish a controlled elevation of privileges instead. If you have any

How do I use iPhoto vs. Pictures folder for organization and viewing?

I have a high level question as to how to use, in general not specific functions, iPhoto on my new iMac. I imported all of my PC files from an external drive into the appropriate Folders (Pictures, Documents, Music, Movies) successfully. So my large collection of photos resides in many sub folders under Pictures (like ‘2012 Mom Visit’ or “Christmas 2008’).
My question is should I be using iPhoto as my primary app for viewing and organizing my full inventory of pictures, along with obviously editing/creating? Or do I use the default Pictures folder, and dig through with Finder or some search mechanisms if I only want to look at a photo and save iPhoto for editing and creating tasks? If iPhoto should be my primary photo browsing and organizing tool, and I hope so because I would like a tool to just organize/view/search all my photos rather than thumbing through the folder structure, how to I “import” or tell iPhoto where all my photos are (there are a lot under a lot of subfolders)? Will iPhoto then keep duplicate copies of these or do all my photo files remain in the Folder structure?
Bottom line: is iPhoto supposed to be my go-to place for all my photo browsing, viewing, searching as well as editing and creating? Should every photo I add to this iMac somehow be linked or imported through iPhoto?
I also have pictures in the cloud and on an iPad (since my PC died I dumped camera photos directly to the ipad) but I’ll deal with these after I understand the appropriate use for iPhoto.

The important thing to remember is there is no "supposed to" or "best way". There's what works for you and you photos. This may be iPhoto or some other app.
Couple of thoughts: iPhoto is not an editor. It's a Manager - like Contacts for your Addresses or iTunes for your Music, it offers powerful and easy to use tools that will help you manage and share your photos in the various ways you might need it. It will also enhance and crop and edit photos as well, but if you're not using it as a manager then forget about it for editing as it will be just too complex. There are loads of editors out there.
If you use iPhoto then it's your "go-to" for anything to do with your Photos. Viewing, Organising, sharing, Uploading, Printing, whatever. All of these things can be done either with or via iPhoto. Put another way, you never access your files via the Finder.

There are two ways to set up your iPhoto Library. Managed and Referenced
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
As you are new to iPhoto I strongly urge you to run a Managed Library. There are many pitfalls with a Referenced one - see here for instance

and for someone new to iPhoto and The Mac you can lose data very easily with a Referenced Library.
However you store the files, importing is the same: easiest way: drag a folder of images to the iPhoto Window and iPhoto will import it and create an Event from it.
If you have a managed library then it will copy the files into its own Library. You filing structure is then pointless. You can trash it - but don't do it immediately. iPhoto is a great app, but it's not necessarily for everyone. When you've lived with it for a few weeks and are sure it's for you, that's when you can trash your own filing structure.
The problem with what you have now - files-in-folders-and-subfolders - is that it is limited. Searching is trcky as you don't have a whole lot of things to search on. I append the following to show you some of the options available in iPhoto.
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums extensively. I title the pics broadly.

What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 44k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
File -> New Smart Album
set it to 'All"
title contains Seattle
keyword is mountain
keyword is snow
rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
New Smart Album
Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.

How can I access a folder on my iMac?

I have an iMac (late 2010) and a new MB Air (late 2011). I have a document folder on my iMac that I would like to either a) be able to remotely access and manipulate from my Air, preferably not by just sharing screens or b) sync the folder onto my MB Air. Within my local home network, it's not an issue, I can use AirDrop, but when I take my Air on the road, it'd be nice to access the folder of frequently edited documents.
Bonus Points:
I also have a first edition iPad running iAnnotate - is there a way to sync the edited documents from iAnnotate to both my iMac folder and MB Air without having to plug my iPad into iTunes and "Save To-ing" then dragging and dropping over AirDrop?
Basically, I have 3 devices which need to share and sync a folder of documents that I variously edit on any of the 3 devices, but would like to have updated access to from any device.

This is only my opinion, but I think the absolutely easiest, fastest, most trouble-free, and least-expensive way to do this is to use Dropbox:

Install the Dropbox on all your devices.
Using your best Mac, put this important "document folder" inside the Dropbox folder that will be created for you in the Finder.
Your Dropbox will automatically copy anything inside it to every other device. Any changes you make on any device will be reflected on all your devices.
The first 2gb of storage are free. You can get more free storage by jumping through some hoops, or you can purchase more through a premium Dropbox account. 2gb is enough for almost everyone.
Because of iOS's sandboxed app environment, not every app can make use of Dropbox (this is not a problem for Macs and PCs - if an app reads and writes files in any "normal" way, it can use the files synced by Dropbox). I'm not familiar with iAnnotate specifically, but many iOS apps have Dropbox sync built in. If this app doesn't, you might want to contact the developer to add Dropbox support.

Issue in granting access to folders in Hyperion Workspace...

We have Hyperion System 9 rel 9.3.1.
I see a strange issue. I have a folder (say Folder A) in Workspace which I want a group (Group A) to see.
I created "Group A" in User Management Console.
I created role named "Group A" and assigned the role of "Content Manager".
I then went to workspace and gave "Group A" View access to "Folder A".
Now when anyone from "Group A", log-in to Workspace, I want them to see only the "Folder A". But they are seeing other folders which belong to other groups or administrator. I tried restricting this by assigning "WORLD" group "No Access" to the folder as default. But after this, the user from Group A is not able to see the folder at all.
Why is this happening? Any fix for this? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the information.
What you said is right. The idea to deny WORLD access was given by a support consultant to another team member of mine.
It didn't make sense logically.
I thought if I create a folder and give access to Group A, only Group A will see it and I didn't have to do anything.
We are having a shared environment where different departments will have different top level folders and will be local administrators for their stuff.
So we need to hide our reports from everyone else and more so since our group is having some confidential reports.
If we have to set No Access to every Group for every folder/object we create, it will be a lot of work. Isn't it supposed to be not visible if access is not set for a group?
Besides, I played around a bit. And when I give "Content Manager" access to the role assigned to our group, it shows all other folders.
If instead, I give the sub roles that come under "Content Manager" then the folders are not visible.
How I isolate the permissions so that only our group can see our stuff? And is there a way to refuse access to the Administrator level users or Admin user access to some folders/reports?
