Grant access to open work book

Hi
i have created new business area and work book. Also created new database user i.e test. I want to give access user test to new work book to access it from discvoer user edition.
I have assigned business area from discover admin. but still when connecting with user test from discover admin,workbook is not displaying.
Please help me to find out reason.

Do you by chance have more than one EUL? Its possible that you are logging in or connecting to the wrong one. If you're using Discoverer Plus make sure you enter the right one when you are connecting.
If you are working with Discoverer Desktop you need to log in, then use Tools | Options and on the EUL tab make sure the default EUL is the same one you used to create the workbook.
Next, let's check the user privileges. Here's the database privileges you should have as a minimum:
grant connect, resource to &&username;
grant execute any procedure to &&username;
grant global query rewrite to &&username;
grant select any table to &&username;
You probably want to get your DBA to make sure the user who cannot see the workbook has the same database privileges as the one who created it.
In the Discoverer Admin edition you need to use Tools | Privileges and make sure the user has the Desktop/Plus main privilege plus you should check as many of the sub-privileges as you can. You might find that the user cannot be granted the schedule workbooks privilege and this is ok - you can ignore that one.
Next thing, are you by chance using E-Business Suite? Its possible that the user is not logging in with an adequate responsibility.
Do as much of the above as you can and get back with me.

Hi Experts,
I need a help in work book auth. Currently we are in BI7. We have created roles and assigned to respective users.Now users are able to access(Open) work books as per their authorization. But they are unable refresh work book and navigate any of the Bex options.When they click on "change variable values ", system saying that No authorization.
Could you please let me know how to enable users to refresh work book( to re-run different selections, perform bex options like swap ,filter..etc)?

Assigning workbook to the user role:
Goto User Role > select Menu tab(Change mode)>Seelct +Report icon -->Select Radio button BW Report --> Enter your workbook technical name here(Ex:4E9QCMIXFMRS71K9Z0TP7F4T7). Finally check it in user role.

Work book taking longer time to open

Hi,
We created a workbook and embedded one input ready query in it. The query when executed separately takes 1 minute to load. But when the work book is opened for the same selections, it takes 3-5 mins.
There is no Macros written in the workbook and no functions are called while loading work book.
What might be the reason for this. Is there any way by which we can improve the performance?
Please suggest.

Hi there,
Open BEx Analyzer.
Click on global settings (before opening the workbook) and mark the option "Repair workbook while running" (option available since BEx Analyzer support package 5 and above)
Now open the workbook (it will still take the 3-5 minutes).
Now save the workbook
Remove the option you have just marked before ("Repair workbook while running").
Close BEx Analyzer and test it again.

Yes, I guess as the new account I had to open and then reassign my reader
to purchase more reading material as the new account id has I guess blocked
my reading of the previously purchased books already saved. Does this make

Work Book is not opening

Hi,
any one encounted this type of situation with Work Books.
I am using BI 7.0, BEx 7.0.
I have a Work Book with 30 sheets each sheet has one query.
Today after saving the work Book ,
Now when i try to open the work Book it is not opening.
I don't no what is the Problem.
When we open the work Book
in status bar i can see BEx Analyzer is Processing then
after some time status is Ready,
But work book is not opening.
I am really wondering the behaviour of BEx,
I saved the Work Book now and it is not opening.
Help me to resolve this issue, sure I will assign points.

i found Function Module RRMX_WORKBOOK_LIST_GET
then I check in system in FM, it is showing the workBook.
but my Problem is how to Open my Work Book ?
any Idea will be appreciated with points.

I had the same problem. I deleted Adobe reader and pdfs now open as before.

I downloaded and re-installed Adobe Digital Editions so that I could get books from the library and read them on my tablet. It is not working and my tablet cannot open the books??

What can I do? I am 68 y/o and not very computer literate. I put an micro SD card in my computer to copy the books (also some ebooks that I bought from a retailer) onto the SD card so that I could read it on my computer or my ereader by puting the card into the reader (tablet or whatever you want to call it).. HELP

Please follow the below steps and check:
1) Right click on the book in library that you want to copy from your computer. Click on the "Show File in Explorer".
2) Copy/Paste the book from this location to your SD card.
3) On your tablet open the book from your SD card in your ereader.
You need to make sure that you authorize your ereader with the same ID with which you authorized your computer. In case you do not remember which ID you used for authorizing your Digital Edition, click Help-> Authorization Information.
Hope this helps. If it doesn't, please specify the ereader that you are using and the exact error message that you are getting. Thanks!

Business Areas, Folders and Work Books

Hi,
We have approximately 20 business areas and around 200 workbooks. We are trying to reduce business areas. We are creating 4 new business areas ,under which I want to import all 20 business areas into 4 new business areas. So I am coying all folders under 20 business areas into 4 new business areas.
I am unable to do the same with workbooks. Now ,when we are trying to open the workbooks, we are having issue in opeing the workbook as workbooks are referring old business area folders. I want to opne the work books refering folders with in the new busiess areas.
Is there any way to do this other than creating workbook again?

Hi,
D4O do not uses any business are as it is used for OLAP reporting. You cannot have an option/prompt to user to select a particular analytic workspace.
If you grant access on AW$<AW Name> object to the user then the user can see everything inside that workspace. If you want the user to see both the workspace then you should grant the select privilege to both AWs.
Suppose the two workspaces are in two diferent schemas i.e. schema1 and schema2 having AW1 and AW2 as the workspace respectively. If you want to grant access to both the above workspaces to user say user1, then you should grant privilege like this
grant select on schema1.aw$AW1 to user1;
grant select on schema2.aw$AW2 to user1;
The above grants ensure that the user1 can see all the cubes in both the workspace. Ensure that the user1 should have D4OPUB and OLAP_USER role granted.

I have installed a trail version of FrameMaker 12 and cannot open the book and chapter files in FrameMaker 8

My colleague and I use FrameMaker 8 but I'm considering whether it would be a good idea to upgrade to FrameMaker 12. So today I installed a trail version of FrameMaker 12.
Before opening a book file in FM12, I copied it to another folder so I wouldn't mess up anything. Unfortunately, I forgot to copy the chapter files so I opened most of them from FM12. As soon as I found out about it, I copied them to the new folder, but too late.
Now I'm not able to open the original files from FM8 (and even worse, neither can my colleague). I read somewhere else, that I should save the book file in the .MIF format (I tried both 12 and 7.0) and then open it from FM8. I tried that, but I still cannot open the chapter files.
I get an error message saying: "Althoug xxx.fm appears to be a FrameMaker document, it can't be opened with this release of the product".
I didn't make any changes to the chapter files when I looked at them in FM 12.
What should I do? I case we decide not to upgrade, we will not be able to access this book which is a big problem. I already have some small changes that have to be made.

Back saving to MIF should work, but it’s probably faster to just retrieve a backup of the FM8 files & books and restore them over your botched FM12 versions. Then take a copy of that backup and put it on the trial machine to play away without impacting anything else.

SCSM View access control not working

I have 15 odd each SCSM Incident and SR roles, one for each support group. Each role contains an AD group, populated with users. No OTB roles contain any users other than the admin role.
Each role is granted access to only the views for SR and IM that they need.
All the views are stored in one MP, that is one top level folder with all the views inside it. So when they expand the folder, they should only see the views assigned to the roles of which they are a member.
However, more and more often, Users are opening their console to find that they see all the views, for all roles.
Sometime if they shut down the console, and restart it, the views will return to normal.
But that is starting not to work anymore as well. And its very odd that it will happen to one user in the role, but not the other users.
Any ideas?

Never mind, I did find that they added a group to an OTB role... Removed, Fixed. Created a new role, and removed the view access....

Unable to open Adobe books

I have 4 books purchased many many years back and the computer I initially had them on long ago died as a XP machine.
I can not access any of the 4 that were purchased and Adobe Digital Editions refuses to open and Acrobat will not open indicating DRM issues.
How can I have this fixed????

When you say ctrl-shift-D didn't work what do you mean?
Do you mean
it didn't have any effect and nothing happened. No prompts asking about confirm remove authorization, no nothing
or do you mean that ctrl-shift-D did do the deregistration,
you went through the complete deregistration/reregistration process,
but the result was the same as before.

Some vendors use the standard Adobe ID, some use their own custom vendor ID.
Maybe the book is one that needs a custom vendor ID?
Check that with the vendor to see what for their ID should take.
I haven't used any such books, the Adobe help (http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/digital-editions/features.html) says
Custom User ID (Vendor ID, Bookseller ID)
When you open a book requiring alternate authentication, you will be prompted to select which ID and provide credentials (user name and password). You may, for example access a book from Google with a Google ID (referred to as a Vendor ID), or a book from Barnes & Noble (referred to as Bookseller ID). This is further described in the Getting Started eBook installed with Adobe Digital Editions.

Problems with opening iBA books after the recent upgrade.

How many folks have had problems opening .iba books after the recent upgrade??
I did ! I completed and delivered a free book which was No: 9 in series - all the others opened OK in iBA after the upgrade except this last one.
I read the forum, none of the offered solutions worked for me.
I contacted support and was eventually asked to upload to there server the original .iba file which I did a few days back.
Today I had a reply to advise they had found and corrected the probem and gave me server access info to download a revised file.
The problem turned out to be the "Intro Media" I had dropped an image and not a video, which I have done before without probelms.
Apple support have removed it and the book file opens OK.
I dont know if this will help others who had problems opening files in iBA after the update.
It does seem as though the delivery of content acceptance critera is getting tighter or maybe its my own fault for doding the requirements!

Its seems like the application load may have not completed properly or there were some issues.
Backup all the data on your device then follow the below articles.

Grant access based on application type?

Is there a way to grant access to just some of the application types attached to a DIR? I would like to limit the users to open the CAD files but they should be able to open the PDF files attached. The idea is to create the PDF file automatically out of the CAD file so I canu2019t put them in different DIRs because that would involve manual work.

Useful information on each DMS authorization object can be found under http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/PLM/AuthorizationObjectsin+DMS.
If no standard authorization object could be useful maybe you can use a BADI like DOCUMENT_AUTH01 or DOCUMENT_MAIN01 to implement an individual check for the application type and so restrict some users to view special applications.
