Graph in OBIEE

Hi,
I am new to OBIEE and this is my first project in OBIEE. I have to create a graph to display total sales for previous fiscal year by week which means i have to display sales data for 52 weeks. It was simple to create but on the graph the week number(horizontal axis) is not in one straight line. The week numbers are divided in to two lines. What graph property do i have to set to get all week numbers display all together on the horizontal axis.

Issue was, Font been defined as 7.5 (may be font size decimal not supported ).the problem solved

We are looking to implement waterfall graph in obiee 11.5 , it looks like it is included in 11.6 (though not supported by oracle), any workaround to implement it in 11.1.1.5 ?

It had sneaked into one of the 11.1.1.6 BP's and unfortunately - for Oracle - people noticed and started blogging the instanceconfig bit above. Oracle had those posts taken down quite quickly, but the info still is out there. Officially, waterfall is only supported as of 11.1.1.7.

Default Colors Limit for Graph in OBIEE 11g

Hi, I'm using OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.6.6)
When I use a graph (either bar or pie), I notice that OBIEE only has 12 default colors to use in the graph. So it starts from blue, red, and so forth, until the 12th color, then for the 13th color it will use the same blue again, and so forth.
The problem is that my column values are more than 12 (it could be 20, it could be 30, etc). So, the repeating colors doesn't make any sense for the graphs.
Could somebody please advise me on how to increase the default number of default colors used by OBIEE (so that it will be like 50 default colors set automatically by OBIEE, just in case)?

type HexaDecimal colors in google you will find n number of colors with the code number, just use this color codes by adding# before every code in the column format properties.
for ex: #ccc99

How hide legends and lines of graph in OBIEE 11 dashboard report

I have an OBIEE 11.1.1.5 dashboard report that contains Time Series Line graph on the basis of some measures. Some measures are contains 0 values for these measures graph lines are drawn at origin 0 and legends of these measures are also shown.
I want to hide such kind of lines and their legends from graph any suggestion
Measures are coming on runtime basis that’s why we are not excluded these measures from table but I only want to hide from graph.

Hiding the legent in your char.
go to measure labels --> under Vary Color By (Horizontal Axis and then uncheck box then the LINE and Legends will be removed from your report.

How to create a trailing 6 months graph in OBIEE dashboard?

Hi,
I'm new to oracle and currently learning new OBIEE application where I'm task with creating a graph trailing 6 months. I did some research and found a solution in this forum but given that my background is not IT so those codes to me is like another language. Basically I need to create a graph where users would select a prompt month like June-14, the graph would should show data for the prior month from May backward to Jan. In my report, I would have 4 column like fiscal year, month, sales, and supplier.
I know how to create the report to pull the data but I'm struggling with where/how to set up filter and prompt and where to apply the appropriate SQL query. Please help! Step by Step instruction would be very helpful.

That filter will not help you ...
You said : users would select a prompt month like June-14
The previous formula work on the current real date, not on a prompt (and why to cast CURRENT_DATE as date? It's a date! And again: DAYOFMONTH(CURRENT_MONTH * (-1) + 1 isn't it easier to just write 1 - DAYOFMONTH(CURRENT_MONTH) ? ...).

I would highly suggest you follow a proper training and/or a good book (please avoid the guy advertising his DVD OBIEE training for few $$) at least you start with good basis on OBIEE and BI / data analysis and reporting in general.
Let's start by your prompt: when you say a month like June-14, do you mean that you really have a month column in your subject area with values like June-14? Do you also have a proper date next to it or anything more "numeric" ? Because otherwise you will need to translate textual months names into real date to be able to easily calculate the previous X months.

Possibility of creating combination chart Barchart/Line graph within OBIEE

Is it possible to create a combination chart within OBIEE as can be done in Excel by changing the chart type on one of the individual series - ie graph multiple series of data as a combination of Barchart & Line series?

The charting can be as dynamic as you like if you willing to pre-configure the required options.
Simply create as many charts as you want from one request, and use a view selector to allow the user to switch between them.
You can use level based measures and any else you want as seperate columns (all in same request) then chart them accordingly.

i have some reports that has graph. in that graphs some graph is coming and some is not coming
and giving error shown below.
Graphing engine is not responding.
A fatal error occurred while processing the request. The server responded with: oracle.bi.nanserver.fwk.exception.BISvsException: java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "05:30".
i have checked the services all are up and running.
please help me to solve the problem.

Issue making graphs in OBIEE 11g

Hi All,
I have requirement to make a line-bar graph in Answers.
metrics that i have to use are Best price, commit price and Close price
so the there would be a three bar showing data for all the the three metric. And there would be a line in the graph that should start from closed price, then go to Closed price + commit Price value and finally end at the value of summation of all three i.e. Commit+ closed+ best. So it would be a 3 bar and a trend line.
To implement that I have tried using union of 3 report and calculated the sum of the required trend line in the reports. So kind of output that i get is :
Closed price     |     Commit Price     |     Best Price     |     Cumulative total.
     1                              2                             3                         1                    (only closed amount)
     1                              2                             3                         3                    (Closed + Commit amount)
     1                              2                             3                         6                    (Closed + commit + Best amount)
so when i draw the Graph, i get the values of the bar correctly. But the value of line instead of coming as trend shows a dot on the graph with value as 1.
I am not really sure if the approach that i am taking is correct or not , so kindly request to please help me to make the trend line on the graph.

How to create static line in line bar graph in obiee 11g?

I have requirement where user wants to see a line in bar graph.
Now the line is just static line, we dont have data field available to draw the line in graph.
is there a way to create a static line in chart and show it in Line bar ombo graph??

e.g. i created the static line '10' in fx and now using this column as line in line bar report , but its not displaying the line at measure of '10' in chart.
Drag the column to measures section of graph (Line - Vertical Axis) to change this static value create an edit box prompt and pass the value to the column using Presentation Variable (as said by Fernando)

Unable to generate graph in OBIEE 11g

Hi All,
I have four columns in the report, one dimension and three fact columns
Dim.Col1
Fact.Col2
Fact.Col3
Fact.Col4
Fact.Col4 is nothing but I am dividing Col2 and Col3 like this, so in the formula for Fact.Col4, I have this
Fact.Col2/Fact.Col3
and these are the settings I have done for Fact.Col4
1. I have overridden the default data format from number to percentage
2. aggregation rule is default
3. have checked "Treat as an attribute column"
So My Fact.col4 has values like this
2.5%
4.5%
6.2%
Now when i am trying to built a graph using the columns dim.Col1 and fact.Col4, then the graph is not getting displayed. It shows me blank. But When I change the data format from percentage to default ( means uncheck the box) then graph comes up. So we can't create a graph on the column for which we have set the data format to percentage.? Can anybody please let me know what am I missing here

Super! It worked. Graph comes back when I select the 1000's separator. But why would that happen? I mean It will be good If I know how did that make any difference. When I selected format to be percentage what is the significance of 1000 separator here? Is that a bug ? Or I am missing anything.

Dynamically changing the Graph in Obiee 11g

Is there a way to reflect the latest data in a graph by clicking any hierarchy level ?
say i have top level company----->>department------->>account.
if i come to department level then the graph should display department data in the graph.But in my case ,the graph always shows company level data.

In Repository File try creating a parent root node called 'All' above the Department in your hierarchy and check it it will work ...
