Graph, Widget @ Lion OS Server

Gents,
Good day
I was very confused to upgrade my Mac mini server from SL server to Lion, so I started with the clients then yesterday I end up upgrading the server to Lion.
I feel the server os is changed completely to client OS plus + server Tool .. not like snow leopard I believe it was a full os server functionality.
My issue now if you connect to server through server tool the state / graph not working nothing show up !! do any one face the same issue ??
Plus the old widget for the server status not working completely !! only the drive size section for the rest info are showing the status unknown !!
your support is highly appreciated
thank you so much in advance

I am having the same issue mac mini server ( new summer 2011 ) with Lion.  My server widget did work and now it is broke.  The other issues they system has are detailed https://discussions.apple.com/message/16014174#16014174 .  Do you experience any of these?

  • Migrate from Exchange Server 2011 to Mac OSX Lion Mail Server

    Hi all,
    I'm looking to migrate from Exchange Server 2011 to Mac OSX Lion Mail Server.  I work for a company with roughly 30 employees and they use exchange for mail, contacts and calendars.  We want to take full advantage of OSX Server and to completly get off of exchange.
    What are the best ways to do this?  Are there any tools available to help this process?

    I agree with the points made by Strontium90. If you have any PCs then Apple's mail/contacts/calendar software is a poor choice. Kerio Connect as a mail/contacts/calendar server would not only support Macs but would also do a good job supporting PCs running Outlook.
    If you are going to become a pure Apple site, then you could use just the Apple software and this would be cheaper than using Kerio. For 30 users this might be a suitable solution, however even in a pure Apple environment many people prefer Kerio. For example I find Kerio much more pleasent when dealing with email addresses across multiple domains, email aliases, email group addresses, and so on. Kerio also has built-in email archiving, that is keeping a record of all emails. Kerio also provides a web-browser client for accessing email, calendar and contacts. It is worth noting that as standard Mountain Lion Server no longer includes a webmail feature. While I personally find the Kerio webclient rather ugly it does work.
    There are some annoyances I have with Kerio, firstly they have always charged a 'maintenance' fee for their software. This provided access to software updates, and in the past also provided access to Kerio technical support. Unfortunately they now only let you make two (2) support cases per year for that cost, and you now have to pay extra for any more cases. Also while they added support for EWS (Exchange Web Service) to allow using Outlook 2011 for Mac as a supported email client, they did a poor job of this so that it does not work properly with any other EWS compatible client. This means it will not work in EWS mode with Apple Mail, nor with Outlook for Windows. While there are other ways to connect these other clients, this seems a foolish move and there have been plenty of requests to fix this.
    Apple's Mail client uses EWS to connect to a 'real' MS Exhange server.

  • Can individual ibooks be managed using OS X Lion MDM server?

    Does the MDM server in Lion's profile manager have the ability to send push notifications with links to download free ibooks in the same way you can send push notifications to distribute enterprise apps?
    Also, will the MDM server allow you to delete existing ibooks?

    Hi Camelot,
    Thank you very much for the quick reply and for the information provided. Most appreciated!  Apologies for the delay to respond.  I have emailed Mailradar the results of the open relay test but I am still waiting on their response.  I have tried another open relay test tool, myDNSTools.info, but it returned the same results as the Mailradar. It looks to me as if it could be a timing issue, for example the Mailradar shows that the response for the MAIL FROM: command (250 2.1.0 Ok) arrived after the RCPT TO: commnad was sent.  Therefore the open relay test assumes that relay is allowed even though the the mail server response is:
    554 5.7.1 <[email protected]>: Relay access denied
    If this is the case, I am not sure if the timing issues is something that I can control here at my end.  I was wondering if this could be caused by the spam filtering rules available in OS X Lion mail server?
    Thanks again,

  • Connecting A Windows Machine to a Remote OS X Lion File Server

    Hi All,
    Can anyone tell me how to connect a Windows 7 machine to my remote OS X Lion File Server? On my macs, it is simple, I go to finder, choose Go -->Connect to Server, and enter my IP address. I can't seem to figure out how to do this on a windows system.
    Thanks!
    Gabriel

    are you saying that even when I have a folder that is configured to only allow access to designated users, it is still vulnerable over the internet to others (strangers)?
    Yes, Absolutely.
    I understand that VPNs provide the most secure transmission of data, but wouldn't someone on the internet need a username and password to access a file on the server?
    Yes, you'd need a username and password to gain access - as long as you've configured the access controls accordingly. But you have to understand that's not enough.
    Do you trust that EVERY account on your server has a STRONG password? It only takes one weak password to compromise the entire system.
    Are you sure your passwords are not vulnerable to brute force attacks? Hint: they pretty much all are!
    Are you watching your logs to detect failed logins (which might indicate a hacker trying to guess a password)?
    Are you prepared to deal with, potentially, thousands, or even millions of hits a day to your server, from people 'knocking on the door'?
    Finally, and here's the kicker - the default Windows sharing protocols are not encrypted. So even if you do check all the above points, your data is still flowing unencrypted over the internet. This allows anyone in the right place to just sniff the traffic off the wire, including the login credentials (there goes the need for a brute-force attack) and the actual data transferred.
    The mere fact that you advertise yourself as running a Windows sharepoint on the internet makes you a target. It doesn't even matter if you have nothing of value to hide/protect, someone's going to see the sharepoint and is going to be curious as to what's behind it. Protect yourself, your company, and your clients by not even letting them know you're holding any cards, let alone showing your hand.

  • OSX Lion Mail Server Junk Mail Filter blocks incoming mail from any Yahoo address

    I have yet to be able to use OSX Lion Mail Server's Junk Mail Filter.  I have several contacts who use (free) Yahoo Mail addresses.  Whenever I turn on Junk Mail Filter, even at the Most Cautious setting, any incoming mail from Yahoo.com addresses do not make it into my inbox.  I was told last year by an Apple Enterprise Tech Support contact that "..we're still having problems with that Junk Mail Filter, sorry, just leave it off for now.."  WTH  In the meantime, the good news is I'm not missing any incoming e-mails; but, I'm having to sort through and delete a few hundred spam messages each day.
    Suggestions?  Thanks in advance

  • Suggestion : Grapher widget

    Hi!
    I don't know where I can add some ideas or feedback for iBooks Author, so I decided to write them here.
    I wondered why there was not a Grapher widget into iBooks Author. It would be very useful. You would have to add your formula, adjust parameters with inspector and that's it. Therefore, we may have 2D but also 3D models that we could move directly on your iPad. I hope you think about all these things which would improve iBooks Author.

    In iBA, the first menu on the left named 'iBooks Author'....drop that down and then select the choice for feedback...

  • What's wrong about  "JSF that emits Ajax-widgets" on the server side?

    Hi,
    I just read this chat about Ajax on the server side and I wonder what this comment bellow means when we are building JSF application with Ajax:
    Another thing to consider is that in a pure Ajax application (i.e. one that's not a hybrid of a server-side technology like JSF that emits Ajax-widgets), the server can pretty much just respond to requests from the Ajax client in a stateless manner, and all of the state gets distributed to the client, greatly reducing the memory resources on the server. I'm working on an app like this for IBM Rational and we're really excited about the *decreased* load on the server by distributing state to clients.
    http://www.devwebsphere.com/devwebsphere/2006/04/ajax_and_its_im.html
    Thanks in advance.

    Just created a half an hour ago application:
    http://jsfbyexamples.com/facesTrace/
    shows that the AJAX request spends less time on the server even it walk though the whole life-cycle. This is a very small page, BTW. On the complicated page, the difference will be more significant. It is about server resources.
    About network traffic: Do you actually believe that sending the whole page produces less traffic than the portion updates? Just mathematically speaking?
    OK, I guess you mean the AJAX application requires traffic comes back and forward to produce the AJAX functionality. Non-AJAX application does not produce the traffic, but it does not produce the functionality you have in the first case.
    People who argue about it just try to compare Something to Nothing. So, where is the point?

  • How do you define what machines will get an IP form your Lion DHCP server?

    I have set up a Mac Mini Lion server for use in my classroom. I currently have 8 macs that are connecting to it. I would like my Lion server to serve IPs to these 8 macs, so I have set up the DHCP server to assign these. When I look at what machines are receiving their IP from my server, I am getting everyones iPods, iPhones and other devices. Basically, my DHCP is assigning IPs to these devices, whereas normally these would be assigned from the main school server (not my Lion server). How do tell my Lion Server to only use the DHCP on my 8 macs, not everyones iDevices and Macs. Thanks.

    There are two aspects to this. First as Stronium90 says it is normally a bad idea, i.e. more trouble than it is worth to have more than one DHCP server on same LAN.
    The first issue you therefore need to address is to ensure that if you have two DHCP servers only one responds to these specific clients. This means you would need to set the Mac DHCP server to only respond to these devices and you would have to set the other DHCP server to respond to all others and ignore these specific devices. To tell the Mac DHCP server to do this you need to add settings manually to the /etc/bootpd.plist file. This is the main configuration file for Apple's DHCP server and is an XML format file. You can find instructions by doing man bootpd in the Terminal.app.
    The second issue is if you want to use static IP addresses then you need to define them in the /etc/bootptab file. As standard this file does not exist but all you need to do is create one and the Mac DHCP server will start using it. The following may be helpful https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages /man5/bootptab.5.html

  • Can't delete a blog comment from Lion Wiki Server 3

    Started the Wiki Server on my Lion Server today and as a test I added a test comment to a blog.  After I saved it I wanted to see if I could edit, change the content or just delete the comment outright.  The answer to all three is that I can't.  I am logged in as the owner the wiki and the administrator for the server.  I looked at the documentation and it appears that I should be able to do all three, but no luck.  Any help would be apprciated.

  • Spry Widget as a Server Side Include

    I am new to using SSI. I guess one question is: does the
    include have to be saved as a .shtm or .shtml file? I am trying to
    take a Spry Navigation bar and use it as an include in a site I am
    building. I have saved it as a .html file and a .shtml file, but
    neither is working. It shows up in design view, but not preview in
    browser view. Here is the code of the SSI:
    <script src="../SpryAssets/SpryMenuBar.js"
    type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="../SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarVertical.css"
    rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <div>
    <ul id="MenuBar1" class="MenuBarHorizontal">
    <li><a href="
    http://www.j-boysentertainment.com">Home</a>
    </li>
    <li><a href="#"
    class="MenuBarItemSubmenu">Projects</a>
    <ul>
    <li><a href="../pamperzpro.html">Pamperz
    Pro</a></li>
    </ul>
    </li>
    <li><a class="MenuBarItemSubmenu"
    href="#">Creative Team</a>

    <li><a href="#">John

    {imgDown:"SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarDownHover.gif",
    imgRight:"SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarRightHover.gif"});
    //-->
    </script>
    Does anyone see what I am doing wrong? Also, when I insert it
    as a SSI, does it matter if it is a file or a virtual?

    Create a page that contains ONLY this -
    <p>woohoo</p>
    and save it as woohoo.monkeybutt.
    Then create another page, click in the Design view, and
    insert a server-side
    include. Browse to and select woohoo.monkeybutt.
    Save this new page as "page.shtml".
    Preview it in the browser (with temp files enabled in your
    PREFERENCES).

  • Custom 404 pages in Lion web server?

    Tried searching this forum on this, and either I get tons of 404 stuff about iWeb (search bar doesn't let you specify a forum) or try to add lion server to the terms and get nothing. So, here goes...
    I just migrated a web site over to my Lion Server system from a paid Linux host.  On that host, my custom 404.shtml file showed properly when I deliberately entered a bad URL for the site. On the Lion Server I just get the default white page.
    Is there a way enable the custom 404 page on the Lion Server Web and, if so, how?
    Many thanks in advance!

    Okay, maybe Lion Server's setup can't handle .shtml page definitions by default.  No problem, I just changed the page to 404.html and redirected to it in the .htaccess file. Not as elegant as before but it works.

  • Ical on machine syncs with Lion ical server erratically

    Hi,
    I'm having a problem which is quite persistent and (even more annoying) even after dumping the respective ical - preferences: ical is supposed to get its content from an ical server (Lion Server)  but it shows very often the following message:
    The server responded with an error.The connection to account “xxx" failed because the network is unreachable.
    The network works properly, both wifi and ethernet connections are working. The funy thing is: On the macmini server itself there is no problem. Just the other machines in my LAN display this odd behaviour and stop syncing the calendar from time to time.
    has anyone an idea where to start to remidy this or is it a bug of the server itself.
    Thank you in advance
    Penta

    I don't have Panther available anymore so I'm shooting in the dark. You might try to stop syncing and then turn syncing back on (the idea is to break the connection and start new) Be sure to have a backup of anything you can't lose.
    You might also try trashing iSync preferences.

    Hi Simon,
    Looking at the exception, it seems the machine is so slow that it could not give enough time for the report engines to start up can also result in this exception.
    Please try the following :
    Increase the callbacktimeout parameter for the report server. In server conf file that increase the callbacktimeout parameter for the report server from 1 minute (60000 milliseconds) to 3 minutes(180000 milliseconds)
    Thanks,
    Vinod.
