Graphic as a document

Hello all,
I am trying to edit layouts for printing CEWB with MS Word. I am trying to create a graphic as a document. I am still finding trouble doing it. Can somebody help me with this? I need to create the document as a PRT and assign it to routing.
How can a graphic be created as a document?
Thanks so much

Other than a PDF, you can't save as an image directly from Pages, but you can do it with the software on your Mac. Export or Print your Pages document as a PDF & open that PDF in Preview. Use the selection tool to select the area you want. You can crop & save as .jpg, but I recommend going to the File menu in Preview & choosing New From Clipboard to make a new file. This is because some programs, Pages in particular, will always "see" the unselected area & paste the whole thing. I also suggest using .png rather than .jpg. .jpg is a "lossy" format, .png will be much clearer. TIFF is also clear but usually a large file.

    An internal error occurred while writing imported graphics in this document. The file has been saved, but has lost some image data. Please report this error to Adobe Technical Support.
    How do i fix this, there are no images in the document

    We are running FM version 7.2b144 on MS Win xp Pro (32 bit), and I did not notice this until service pack 3 was installed. I believe I have found a work around to the situation and another contributing cause. If graphic files are placed directly in an anchored frame instead of importing by reference, the file somehow becomes misplaced. If you right click the graphic and open the Object Properties dialog box, and see the phrase "no referenced file" below Main Editor: Referenced File: in the lower left hand corner, this has happened. I found if I removed all graphics files without references and imported them by reference, the source file may then be properly saved. I am also using a program called CCleaner, which removes cookies, temp files, browsing history and the like from a system. If the program settings are chosen too aggressively, and the application runs when FM has a file open, this same error will occur, even if all files are referenced properly. I don't know if SP3 has some similar application which is now running in the background and causing this.
    To summarize, if you want to retain SP3, I have eliminated this error by confirming the links to referenced graphics files and avoiding using 3rd party "cleaners" while FM is open.

  • Reduce File Size in Acrobat Pro (9.5.5) Corrupts Graphics in PDF Documents - shows up as black image

    Whenever I use Reduce File Size in Acrobat Pro (9.5.5), sometimes some of the images (not all) get corrupted and show up as a black image in the new document.
    Actually, the new reduced document looks okay when viewed in Acrobat, but the problem shows up when viewed in the Preview application on the Mac.
    I'm using Acrobat 9.5.5 with Mac OS 10.8.6
    I've tried re-importing the graphic into a new graphic box, which didn't work.  Thinking there may be some type of corruption with the actual graphic file, I then tried viewing the graphic, then taking a screenshot of it to create a completely new file, and then re-importing the new graphic file into the original document (created in Adobe In Design 5.0.4).  I then export the new document as a pdf, and brought it into Acrobat Pro to do the Reduce File Size.  Same thing happens - black box appears where the graphic was.
    I then tried using the Reduce File Size within the Save As function of the Preview application on the Mac - while the graphic remains intact, many of the other graphics in the document are "reduced" too much, to the point where the image quality is seriously degraded, and therefore not usable.
    Any other ideas?

    Hi Anoop,
    I can share the graphic file, but not the pdf which contains it (as it contains confidential information) - thanks!

  • All graphics in Pages document are now boxes with "?" question marks.  Help!!  Urgent!!

    Created a 150 page document on one computer with Pages 09 and saved to the desktop.  Put onto a flash drive and transferred to another computer.  Opened it with Pages 09, made modifications, and saved back onto the flash drive.  Transferred document to original computer, overwrote original file, and now all the graphics in the document have been replaced with boxes with a question mark inside it.  Went back to the document on the flash drive, it is the same way.  Opened the document on the "other" computer and it is the same way.  Have searched Support and the User Guide to find an answer and cannot.  This is a dissertation that has to mailed out like now.  How do we fix?

    I am just an end user like you so I don't know why. I have not heard about this problem before or I might have when people have tried just save on a server instead of their own computer. The person that just opened the document from the USB stick and saved back on should have first transferred the document to his/hers computer, then worked on it and saved it and THEN copy it over to the stick.
    Use CDs instead for transferring files or emails. That is much safer.
    Another thing some people has to learn it the hard way!

  • Saving compound graphics in structured documents OR how to create a link in a graphic

    Hi all,
    Frame 9 structured.
    We need to make a graphic icon into a link.  In nonstructured documents (we have a different product that is not in structure), we just create a text frame on top of the graphic in the anchored frame, and add a hypertext marker to it.
    But in the structured docs, when you do that, Frame generates a .cgm file since the graphic is compound.  Is there either:
    1. Another way to make a graphic into a link
    2. A way to persist the compound graphic into a file that does not get overwritten with a different name each time and that is also in a .png format.
    We have tried tweaking the R/W rules to have Frame write out a PNG, and so far, this is not working.  Here's the code block we tried:
    element "graphic" {
      is fm Graphic element;
      writer anchored frame  {
        export to file "$(docname).png" as "PNG";
    I can see no verifiable effect from this.  Frame continues to generate a new .cgm file.  And even if it did generate a .png, I assume it would increment the number in the filename.  We have an images directory that contains all the images and we cannot support a bunch of loose images in the document directory, especially ones whose filename change all the time.
    Anyone know if there are workarounds for this?  We are budgeted to move to Frame 11 in 2013, so if there's a fix in that version, it would expedite our migration.
    Thanks very much for any help,

    Shelley,
    If there is more than one item in the anchored frame, I don't think there is any way to change the default behavior, that is, the generation of a CGM composite. Maybe you could through with an import/export API client, but that sounds like an extreme option.
    I would suggest that this is not a bug, though. The possible layout variations in a document are endless and at some point FM just needs to make an assumption. So, I think this behavior is reasonable and not in need of a "fix." Maybe it would be nice if you could control the file format (which is always CGM), but otherwise it makes sense to me.
    In short, if you must embed these hyperlink markers in the anchored frames, I think you'll need to do some programming to roundtrip XML. Even if you could get a PNG generated, you would lose the hyperlinks on the way back in. This begs the question... is it absolutely necessary to have these links? Is it because you need them in a PDF?

  • Placing multiple graphics in a document (VARIABLE DATA)

    Hello All I need your help
    I have a graphic that is setup 9 up on a 12x18,  now these people want 500 with 500 different barcode which was provided in a PDF with 500 pages.
    i need a script that would place those 9 up and create the pages and continue placing it automatically.
    is there such a script or program that can be added on indesign cs5 thank you

    You could probably do this with Data Merge by listing the paths to each barcode in your data file.

  • Place graphic in InDesign document via Excel sheet

    Hi,
    I'm new to scripting in InDesign, but need to work on my skills;)
    In school, I already gathered some basic skills in JavaScript, therefore JavaScript is my choice to write a script for InDesign. Even though the environment is Mac OS X and InDesign CS3, AppleScript might be easier to code in?
    Here is the problem:
    An Excel sheet contains a list of names of .eps files generated from SAP. My goal is to create a script that loads the .eps files in this sheet from the location they're saved into the InDesign document and place them in the designated frames.
    My first question: Is this even possible?
    Currently I'm testing and reading some manuals and refernces, but I would be happy for every tiny bit of hint or help or how to get started, so, thanks a lot for your help in advance!
    Greets,
    Alex

    Thank you for your help!
    After playing around some time, I figured out, it would be easier for me to do an XML Import using a XSLT file.
    Unfortunately the XML file generated by Excel is very complex, so I have some issues to extract the needed content.
    Has anybody experience in handling the Microsoft Excel XML?
    Here is the XML:
    <Row>
    <Cell ss:StyleID="s23">
    <Data ss:Type="String"/>
    <NamedCell ss:Name="DATA1"/>
    <NamedCell ss:Name="TESTKEYS"/>
    <NamedCell ss:Name="TEST0"/>
    </Cell>
    <Cell ss:StyleID="s23">
    <Data ss:Type="String">4</Data>
    <NamedCell ss:Name="DATA2"/>
    <NamedCell ss:Name="TESTKEYS"/>
    <NamedCell ss:Name="TEST0"/>
    </Cell>
    <Cell ss:StyleID="s23">
    <Data ss:Type="String">1</Data>
    <NamedCell ss:Name="TESTKEYS"/>
    <NamedCell ss:Name="DATA3"/>
    <NamedCell ss:Name="TEST0"/>
    </Cell>
    <Cell ss:StyleID="s21">
    <Data ss:Type="String">A63027A01BL</Data>
    <NamedCell ss:Name="DATA4"/>
    <NamedCell ss:Name="TEST0"/>
    </Cell>
    </Row>
    And this is my XSLT, which just generates the complete content:

  • How to change Default document size for CC Library Graphics (InDesign)

    Good morning --
    I have just discovered the amazing uses of the CC Library setup in InDesign and would love to be able to use it as a tool to collaborate template galleries amongst coworkers.
    I work in an industry that offers many different templates for our Marketing pieces available to the sales team. What we have in place right now is about 50+ different templates in their own packaged files. Now, this isn't all that difficult to maneuver around, but the CC Library has made it so I can "drag and drop" templates into place. This drag & drop feature is easy enough for me to grasp, and with the proper training it should be with the rest of the team (should being the keyword). However, in some cases if you double-click on Library graphic it opens the file in it's own editable file with a custom document size of 8.5x11 Portrait (which I imagine to be the internal InDesign preset).
    My questions therefore are when I double click on the library "Graphics" can the document size be anything other than 8.5x11? Can each Graphic have it's own document preset?
    - If I open a file that is set for landscape, all of the "Graphic" falls off of the spread.
    - Some "eblasts" are much longer than 8.5x11 (sometimes as much as 8.5x20), thus knocking some of the "Graphics" into that weird space area.
    Please let me know if I am not being a clear enough.
    Thank you!
    Steve

    @Steve – you are totally clear what you are doing and what you like to do.
    But I fear an automatic setting that is creating the page size according to an asset's size does not exist right now.
    I can change the size of a new document beforehand, if no document is open and create a new size in the document's properties dialog with the keyboard shortcut alt + cmd + p (in my German InDesign on Mac OSX 10.7.5). But you have to know in advance what size that should be.
    Example: If I chose A3 instead of A4 (my default) when no document is open and double click an asset in a CC Library the asset will be placed in a one page document sized A3.
    1. Changing the size (no document is open) in my German UI of InDesign CC-2014.2:
    2. Double click and the result is according to the settings I made:

  • How do I save emails with graphics into documents appear as broken page tried saving as html and all files

    I am using Windows 7, and ISP provider is AOL 9.5 dialup.
    When I attempt to save emails with graphics to My Documents,
    any graphics, usually in body of email as a bitmap or jpeg file, when I reopen email from My Documents, the graphics appear blank, as if a broken/torn page. Is there some settings I need to adjust on Firefox to be able to save complete files.

    I'm not a Mac user, that's my caveat, however there is a button on the ribbon for SharePoint Document Libraries on the Library Tab called Connect To Office.
    If that works with Office 2011 you'll start seeing your SharePoint site as a place where you can store documents in Office.
    Otherwise, you need to click "New" in teh library itself and have SharePoint open Office for you.

  • Maintain Linked Graphics in document files

    I would like to use SharePoint to maintain version control on documents that retain linked graphics.  Does SharePoint have a means to maintain the linking of image files in these type of publications?  Is there a workflow that we can use for
    this purpose?  I'd like to use SharePoint as our main version control application if it has the linking capability.

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to maintain the linking to the image files after you update the documents with graphics linking to SharePoint library.
    Per my knowledge, when you add graphic linking in Word, it causes Word to create an active link between the graphic in your document and the original graphic file. After you upload the document to SharePoint library, if other users view the document in other
    machine, it may not find the path, which fails to display the image.
    As a workaround, you could insert the graphic file to your document, which displays fine in SharePoint library.

  • No all graphics are generated by Blueprint document (tcode SOLAR01)

    Hi,
    I patched SAP Solution Manager to SP15.
    Since that only the first graphic of Blueprint documents is generated from tcode SOLAR01, and not all the graphics of the business processes.
    Does anyone know the appropriate SAP Notes corrections?
    Any helpful information will be appreciated.
    regards
    Thom

    Welcome to the forum.
    You updated the TOC but that does not automatically update
    the TOC you see in the print wizard. If you go into the print
    layout, you will see some books with a turquoise colouring to
    indicate they are in the print layout and some will be white to
    indicate they are not.
    If you want a complete duplicate of the TOC, you simply click
    the left pointing arrow to clear what is there and then click the
    right pointing arrow to insert the whole TOC.
    Show All is simply a means of seeing topics the build
    expression has excluded. You are not using one. In any case, they
    still would not print. It is simply an aid to what could have been
    included but for the expression.
    There's a whole topic on printed documentation on my site.
    Post back to let us know if that fixed it.

  • AppleScript copy alpha channel from one document to a second document

    I have two documents. One with Alpha Channels, the other with none. I am trying to copy the alpha channels from one document into the second.
    When I use the following in PS 6, the action duplicates the channels in the same document, not in the second document. I am using PS 6 with both documents open in tabs. Any help appreciated.
    tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS6"
      set x to document 1
      set y to document 2
      set cc to number of channel of current document
      repeat with i from 5 to cc
      duplicate channel i of x to y
      end repeat
    end tell

    I can now copy-paste text frames and linked graphics from one document to another using snippets, but embedded images still don't work.
    If I embed an image from a pdf file it works but not for jpeg images. When I open the new document (for which I placed the snippet) in InDesign, there is a frame (with a dark grey background and a diagonal cross) shown, but no contents. The place() method did not throw an exception. What am I doing wrong?

  • Color graphic in a PDF generated from a SmartForm causes error

    I have a SmartForm containing a color graphic. It works correctly,
    appears just the way it should in Print Preview, and it prints
    correctly. However, when I generate a PDF file from, Adobe Reader
    complains that the PDF file is corrupt and refuses to print it. If I
    remove the color graphic from the SmartForm and don't make any other
    changes, I get a good PDF file that can be parsed, displayed, and
    printed without any problems.
    Why is the presence of the color graphic in the SmartForm leading to a
    corrupt PDF file? Is there any workaround (short of removing the color
    graphic) that I can use to get a good PDF file?
    Here is a more detailed description of what I am doing.
    1.     Creating the color graphic
         A. I started with a color .TIF file
         B. I went to transaction SE78,
            Form Graphics -> Stored on Document Server ->
              GRAPHICS General Graphics -> BMAP Bitmap Images
         C. Clicked on the "Import" icon
         D. In the "File name" field, navigated to my .TIF file
         E. Typed the name of my graphic in the "Name" field and some
            descriptive text in the "Description" field
         F. Selected the "Color Bitmap Image" radio button
         G. Set the "Print Attributes" as follows:
            Unchecked - Resides in the Printer Memory
            Checked   - Reserve Height Automatically
            Unchecked - Compression
         H. The color graphic seems to upload correctly
         I. When I click on Print Preview, it is displayed perfectly.
         J. When I use the Search Help associated with the name field to
            find the graphic, it is shown with the name and description
            that I gave it, the Object field is displayed as "GRAPHICS",
            the ID field is displayed as "BMAP".
         K. When I select Graphic -> Graphic Information, the Resolution is
            75 DPI and the Size is 26.86 x 8.26 cm. When I use this graphic
            in the SmartForm, I will enter the resolution as 300 DPI - in
            order to get an image whose dimensions are one-quarter of these
            dimensions, but which will have a good resolution for a laser
            printer.
    2.     The use of the color graphic in the SmartForm
         A. It is a "Graphic" node which is the first node on the first
            (and only) page of the SmartForm.
            i.   The Name is the name of the graphic I created
            ii.  Object = "GRAPHICS"
            iii. ID = "BMAP"
            iv.  The "Color Bitmap Image (BCOL)" radio button is selected
            v.   The Resolution = 300 DPI
         B. The position and size are:
            i.   Left Margin = 15.00 MM
            ii.  Width = 69.00 MM
            iii. Upper margin = 15.00 MM
            iv.  Height = 21.77 MM
    3.     The process of producing the PDF file
         A. The function SSF_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME is called to obtain the
            name of the function module associated with the SmartForm.
         B. The function module (whose name was returned by
            SSF_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME) is called with:
            i.   CONTROL_PARAMETERS = a SSFCTRLOP structure with
                 GETOTF = 'X'
                 NO_OPEN = space
                 NO_CLOSE = space
                 NO_DIALOG = 'X'
            ii.  OUTPUT_OPTIONS = a SSFCOMOP structure with:
                 TDPRINTER = 'POST2'
                 TDDEST = space
                 TDNEWID = 'X'
                 TDIMMED = 'X'
                 TDDELETE = space
                 TDCOVER = space
                 TDCOPOES = 1
           iii. JOB_OUTPUT_INFO = a structure of type SSFCRESCL used to
                 receive the OTF file
         C. The function CONVERT_OTF is called with:
            i.   FORMAT parameter = 'PDF'
            ii.  OTF table parameter = the OTFDATA table contained within
                 the JOB_OUTPUT_INFO SSFCRESCL structure returned from the
                 SmartForm function module.
            iii. BIN_FILE parameter = an XSTRING used to receive the PDF
                 file
            iv.  BIN_FILESIZE parameter = an integer used to receive the
                 size of the PDF file.

    Hello David,
    The reason for this problem is probably related to the FlateDecode compression described  in SAP Note 843480 (PDF conversion: Compression of bitmaps and TrueType fonts).
    Try switching off the usage of FlateDecode compression again via report RSTXPDF3 as described in Note #843480.
    It is a little confusing. The option 'FLATE_COMPR_OFF' needs to be set to 'On' to turn off the FlateDecode compression.
    To set this run as follows:
       se38 -> RSTXPDF3 -> enter 'FLATE_COMPR_OFF' in the 'Name' field
             -> Select 'Change Settings' radio button
    You will get a pop-up 'Do not use flat compression'.
    Select the 'on' button.
    After this create a new PDF and check if the problem is resovled.
    Regards,
    Aidan
