Graphic blurry during fade from black?

This is my first post in Final Cut Pro. I just sold my Avid system and have
embraced FCP.
My problem is I'm doing a Cross disolve from a slug to a still image which I saved as a tif. During the transition the still image gets blurry and the once the transition is finished the still image becomes clean. I tried turning off Unlimited RT, but no luck. Is there another setting I'm missing? I'm working DV mode
so there is nothing for me to render, so rendering is not the problem.
I see this blurriness in my Canvas monitor and on my NTSC monitor.
Any thoughts?

I have FCP 5.0.4
The color on the top of the timeline is green.
I did render both, but it seems like there is nothing to render.
My public profile is filled out, here are my specs
Dual 2 Ghz Power PC G5
Operating System: Mac OS X (10.4.6)
Other Info: 4.5 GB DDR2 SDRAM
I tried to do a cross disolve between the still image and a video clip.
After I render the transition it played back fine.
The only time the transition is blurry is at the begining and closing of the sequence, where I fade up and down to the still image.
I tried adding a slug at the beginning and end and this didn't help at all.
Are sure it's not something to do with Unlimited RT or Dynamic mode?

Screen fades from black to grey then into white.

Ive had my iphone for 3 1/2 weeks Out of nowhere my iphone 4s got all weird. My screen fades from black to grey into white. ive tried to reboot it it doesnt work. i also pressed the middle button and the power button for like 10 seconds and nothin happens. it turns off sometimes when i press the two buttons.
Then it just turned on like it supposed to, a few hours later it happened again. it all happened yesterday. then today i got on itunes to restore the phone to see if it works better then then while it was syncrnizing eerything into the phone it happened once again. i really dont know what to do! has anyone had the same or a similar problem? would it work if i just restore it and just make it a "new" phone ?

While in the B/W desktop go to the System/Accessability preference pane and check to see if this checkbox is selected:
If it isn't toggle it on and then off again and see if there's any change.

Can I create a fade from black with Media Encoder?

I am having a problem with Adobe DPS making my videos jump up (shift up a bit) in the first few seconds of the video. As a workaround I want to create a fade-from-black effect to hide the first seconds of the video. Can I create a fade in Media Encoder?

I have a short 3 minute clip in the photo JPEG format. I applied the 480P Apple TV setting to it and hit render. The quality was great except that instead of fading from black at the beginning of the clip and fading to black at the end of the clip, it fades from and to green. In other words, green has replacedblack when fading. This does not happen in Compressor, but the AME produces the same quality image at 1/3 the files size. What am I doing wrong?

I've definitely rendered and it makes a difference. Nevertheless the dissolve is still quite blurry.
Any thoughts?

Audio cuts off during fade to black transition

After completing my movie, I tried to add a simple fade in at the very beginning and a fade out at the end. The video image fades fine but the audio is off altogether during both transitions.
What's weird is that if I look at the audio track in the precision editor, it looks like it fades in and out perfectly with the video.
Please help!

I have a "fade to black" at the end of my movie but I don't want the audio to fade until the end of the clip.

Fade in video from black (2 problems)

I have a timeline containing 2 clips: the 1st clip is a countdown, then goes into the 2nd clip, which is footage fading in from black.
During authoring, when I preview the disc, the second clip plays for about a second -- then suddenly jumps back to the beginning of the 2nd clip, and then plays on through.
During playback in a DVD player, the first clip plays, then seems to skip over frames from the beginning of the second clip (resuming play at the first "bright" frame).
These problems seem to be related. Any tips to solve them?

Just making sure: You are using version 2.0 and not 1.5 or 1.0?

Fade in from black cuts off beginning frames

Hi list...
I have a timeline set as first play where the footage fades in from black. The first few frames are getting cut off, and I suspect it's because Encore sets the first chapter marker automatically to what it thinks is the first fully bright frame. Is this what's happening, and if so, how can I prevent that, and therefore make the disk play from the black beginning?

Encore always sets the first chapter in a timeline at time zero...only the poster frame for the first chapter can ever not be at time zero.
Why you are seeing what you are seeing, I'm not sure. Have you checked it on multiple DVD players? How does it look in a software DVD player?

How do you FADE UP FROM BLACK and FADE OUT TO BLACK in iMovie 11?

With all the silly effects in iMovie 11, I can't figure out how to do a simple FADE UP FROM BLACK or FADE OUT TO BLACK. Anybody know?

Fade to Black does it all. At the beginning of the sequence it fades up from black. Between clips it fades to black and back from black. At the end of the sequence it fades to black.

Hi there did you end up getting this resolved? I have the same exact same issue with my Ipad 4 when updating to 8.1.3....frozen on the apple logo. Tried resetting as advised by other users but just goes back to the same logo. Tried connecting to iTunes but device is not picked up at all. Left it over night to run flat hoping charging might kick start something....but when I put on the charger it shows the battery charge icon but won't actually charge it. It's really doin my head in trying to find a fix - cheers Morgan

Fade in from black (pink flash in-between frames) in premiere pro cc

Hello,
when i fade in from black I get a transparent pink flash in between frames as the effect is happening. The footage has a white background which makes the color very noticeable.
I have tried key framing opacity, and using a levels, and the same result occurs.
Any thoughts?? Thank you all

CC 2014, source is 1080mts and the open CL was on. I believe that was the issue, as well as other things the way the transparency and the blacks were interacting, after turning off mercury playback it fixed the black issues. Havent been on the project in question for a while to check if that fixed the pink bars as well, though.

How can i fix my mac book pro. My safari crashes all the time, my screen will turn black for no reason, My iPhoto crashes during upload from my iPhone, I can't highlight anything and I can't drag anything.

Someone PLEASE help me! I cant figure out what is going on with my computer. I don't install anything weird, but my brother does. He's very good at computer tech stuff and is in I.T, but I cant help but blame him for all the problems my Mac is having. Nothing works like it should. My safari will randomally crash, my screen will randomally turn back, my iphoto will crash during uploading from my iPhone, I cant highlight anything, I can't drag anything. When I want to click on something, I have to click over and over again just for it to even register. I know everything is up to date and recently reset my PRAM. I'm running Lion and have a lot of room on my hardrive. I have an external harddrive and I'm wondering if I should just move all of my important files over to it and completly wipe out my computer's hardrive and start from scratch.

Some folks can't leave well enough alone, and insist on downloading all sorts of additional "stuff" that ends up making their Mac unstable.
Standard Mac OS X on properly-operating Hardware does not crash, unless you start installing too many add-ons.
You can run "just the basics" by holding down the Shift key at Startup. This does one pass of Disk Repair, then loads a minimal set of extensions, and comes up in Safe Mode. If it works OK that way, but crashes in "regular", it's the add-ons.
There ia another layer of add-on junk that can be added to Safari. If the only remaining problem is Safari crashing, those add-ons can be disabled as well.

Why no fade in from black when clip without head handle is adjacent to ...?

There seems to be a lot of workarounds and unintuitive ways of doing things in FCP. I'm trying to understand if it's something I don't know or if the developers of FCP are lazy to make things just work.
I'd like to know the reasoning for not allowing me to drop a Fade In Fade Out Dissolve on the beginning of a clip when the clip does not have a head handle and when the clip is after another clip that does not have a tail handle.
Why does the workaround (of inserting a gap, dropping the transition, and deleting the gap) work, but not the way it should just work?

Are you coming from iMovie? Because iMovie will adjust the clips so that you have handles. It does this because it is consumer software and strict show timing isn't an issue. But if FCP did this, the timing of the cut would change and professionally, that is a BIG no no.
You have to learn about handles and know how to use them and plan for dissolves.

A full 1 second cross fade reaches 15 frames into each clip. So, if you want to change a cut to a cross fade, there has to be at least 15 additional frames of each clip. Say you're trying to cross fade from one clip into the very first frame of a second clip. FCP cannot 'create' 15 more frames of the second clip to do a cross fade. If they're not there, you're out of luck.
What you are running into is that you are marking an out point at the far edges of a clip then adding a cross dissolve, say 30 frames (one second) in duration. Since the dissolve is centered on the cut, it will start 15 frames before the cut, and try to go 15 frames AFTER the cut...which it can't do. What you need to do is plan how long your dissolve will be and back-time your cut so that it works.
You need to make sure that your clips have enough media (called 'handles') at the beginning of the incoming clip and at the end of the outgoing clip for the transition. For example, if you have a 1 second (30 frame) dissolve, your in and out point need to be at least 15 frames from the edge of the clip.

Toshiba Regza fades to black

I have a 42" Toshiba Regza about five years old. Recently, when I turn it on the picture shows for a second and then fades to black. The audio still works during this time. I turn it off and on a few times and finally the picture stays. Anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it? I've unplugged and replugged everything with no luck. Thanks!

I'm not sure what would cause this, but you may want to reset the TV to factory settings if that's an option in the menu. Then (even if it isn't an option), turn the TV off and unplug it from power over night. If the problem persists, it may need servicing.

Fading up from black or fading to black

hi in project on video track 1 i have footage of a presenter in front of a white back drop that covers most of the frame apart from a small area on the left. On Video track 2 I have a cropped white background to fill in the left of frame. At the start of my sequence I want to fade up from black and at the end I want to fade to black. On avid I would collapse the tracks then then fade up or down to black. I have tried nesting the clips in premier and doing this but during the fade I see a line where video track 1 and 2 meet. Does anyone know how to fix this issue. Thanks

What's so strange is that all the replies I have had I had already tried and YES they DO work pre-rendered, but as soon as I render the image it messes up the layers revealing all layers individually. It's becoming VERY annoying:( Sorry for the small picture... you should be able to zoom in on it. This is an example with doing it the keyframe and opacity way. I still get the same problem. It's like the layers are all being faded out at the same time. The only thing that seems to work is fading to white... which is what I don't want to do.

Script causing fade to black

I'm having a weird problem that I can't seem to work around. Here's what I want to do:
I have a bunch of menus that have quiz questions on them (7 quizzes, each with 3-5 questions, 1 menu per question). If the user chooses the correct answer then they go directly to the track that introduces the next question. If they choose the incorrect answer then they jump to a script that adjusts their score and then jumps immediately to the track for the next question (the same one as above).
For the right answers, I get a nice clean fade transition that keeps my background image (which is common to all elements in the quiz). But going to the script first fades it to black before fading back up to the background.
One work-around would be to just make duplicates of the tracks (or of the background alone) to be used for right vs. wrong answers, and use pre-scripts that differ between those tracks to change the GPRM. But I'm up against that incredibly annoying limit of 99 tracks per project (why? why? why would they do that to me?) so I can't make enough extra tracks to solve the problem.
Another work around would be to create two tracks (one for correct and one for incorrect) that each just had 1 second of background and attach a massive pre-script to each that figured out exactly where the user was in the program, made all necessary updates in their scores. But I'm already using each menu twice for different purposes, and am also up against the limit of 99 menus per project (seriously, are they trying to ruin me?) so I can't duplicate those either.
Does anybody know of a way to work around this? Can I freeze the screen during a script or something? Or any brilliant insights into other ways to fix it? I am out of ideas!

I realized two things that helped me to figure out a work-around. First, I was confused about menus being limited to 99 (I was thinking of slideshows). In fact, menus are limited to 10,000. The other piece of information is that a track can go to a script which then goes to a menu and it does not fade to black (whereas the menu to script to track did fade to black). Who knows why. In any case, this allowed me to make things complicated but functional. It's much messier now, but at least it works.
Still, if anybody knows how to prevent the menu --> script --> track from fading out during the script, I'd love to know!
