Graphic display problem

I just woke my MacBook Pro 17 HD screen and got this. The VM had just been down loaded.

Does this look like the symptom of the nvidia graphics card failing...8600nividia
Put the compter back to sleep and it hasn't had this since.

    Graphics display problems Lenovo G50 AMD A6 Win 8.1 Greetings to all. After having spent a number of days trying to find a solution to a display problem, I turn to this forum for help. I own a Lenovo G50 AMD A6 Win 8.1 ever since November 2014, and have had display problems ever since the first day, be it while using internet (Firefox or Explorer) or various software (Text editors, etc.). Many dialog boxes, including colour settings and controls (open, close etc.) either have an inappropriate appearance or even do not appear at all! I manage to "click" on the right places using memory: most areas are INVISIBLE! Another example would be that I do not see any backround colour or image on most webpages such as this one).  Some suggestions included checking for graphics updates (but the drivers used were already up-to-date).  I 'd be most obliged for any new suggestions. Thank you very much. George

    Greetings to all, I finally decided to express my utmost discontent with- the Lenovo G50-45 I bought before Christmas 2014,- the summary response with inappropriate links that I received after exposing  my problem- the fact that I tried to dowload the following graphics driver  (Beema) AMD Driver (VGA, HDAudio, SATA) for Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
    exe
    526 MB
    Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
    VGA V14.502.1002.1002-Logo'd_HDAudio v9.0.0.9905_SATA v1.3.1.220;VGA v13.302.1601.1001_HDAudio v9.0.0.9905_SATA v1.3.1.220
    3/19/2015from here(http://support.lenovo.com/fr/fr/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/g50-45-notebook-lenovo/downloads/DS100174), and after REFUSING to accept cookies and some "Lenovo Service Bridge", finally managed to obtain something  HERE(http://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-IdeaPad-G50-45-Notebook-Review-Update.125641.0.html).  I find it quite disrespectful to NOT provide customers with EASY support, as well as avoiding to  answer their requests for further help when some simplistic "assistance" that one can find almost anywhere on the web leads to no further solution. I shall not repeat the problems I have faced till now: vide supra. The problem, however,  is NOT just with browsers.I simply cannot see any dialog box content and colour in MANY software programs, such as OPEN OFFICE; for instance:  PRESENTATION colour dialog boxes show BLANK squares instead of squares filled with different colours. This has occured AVER SINCE DAY ONE! Finally, a new bug has appeared: Windows 8.1 keeps popping up some email program to which I am invited to register - I never created a Windows email account, and certainly don't intend to do so.NOR shall I accept some "Lenovo Service Bridge", however "discreet and inoffensive" it might be. I don't know if there are any legal grounds for customers to complain for all these problems. I DO know, however, that I shall NEVER buy a LENOVO device ever again. The pricing and processor might be competitive => yet,  the support that ensues is, as far as I'm concerned, LAMENTABLE. To make a presentation, I have to switch to a Samsung R20 using XP..... What is the meaning of all this? George

  • Graphics Display Problem

    Hi,
    I'm having a problem with my mac book pro (early 2008 series). Shortly after I start up the laptop, whether in windows or mac, the display gets messed up and thereafter, it hangs and dies. It's a bit hard to explain so I've attached two pictures to show you what i mean.

    I suspect theres a problem with the graphics card, though I was unable to replicate the error at the apple service center and their diagnostics showed that everything was working fine. Unfortunately, as soon as I got back home, the problem resurfaced again!
    Was wondering if anybody has had such problems before... I'm not so keen on going back to apple service center and pay another $120 for them to tell me there nothing wrong again when there clearly is. Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    It's really important that they actually see the problem at the Apple Store before they can do anything about it. See if you can observe the circumstances where you get this artifact so that you can stand a better chance of reproducing it at the Apple Store. Electronic problems can be intermittent, so it can be difficult to have them occur in front of the tech.
    Heat can often be a factor. Do you get the artifact mostly when the computer has been on a while and is nice and hot? Does it not occur as soon if the computer has been off for a while and is cool? It might be worth doing some observations so you can see what circumstances will trigger the video distortion. When it's actually happening, there will be a far greater chance that Apple's specific NVIDIA test will give the correct error code. If heat does turn out to be a factor, you might want to come in early and do some graphics intensive work on your computer in order to trigger the problem in front of the techs.
    Also, do you get the same thing on an external drive? If you do, it would point towards a problem with the graphics chip itself. If not, there could be a problem with the built in display rather than with the graphics chip.
    Good luck!

  • Motion graphics display problem

    Just finished a project with an opening and closing Motion (3) titles and a FCP movie in between. The movie looks ok but the Motion graphics are a little "liney' is this due to the way its been encoded?
    What the best procedure in this circumstance insofar as I created the opening and closing titles in Motion then exported as a QT movie then placed in the FCP timeline. Do I have to convert or encode out of Motion in a certain way or format that will not affect the final movie project when I export from FCP into Compressor?

    Yeah I converted to QT then placed in the timeline should I of done the .motn route is that where the problem is?
    Thanks
    Could be. But it also could be a number of other things. The design isn't one suited to your Home TV (btw is that a SD interlaced display). The hardware between your computer and the Home TV isn't up to the task. Some setting in Motion of FCP isn't set right.
    One thing that I have always done (for years when interlaced was about the only thing people watch stuff on) is to apply a very slight blur (I'll use a gaussian .5 to 1 depending on the font and size). This will knock down some ringing on the edges.

  • IE6 graphics display problem

    Hi-
    I guess this isn't specifically a Dreamweaver problem, but
    the logo in my site, a transparent .png file displays just fine
    everywhere but in IE6 where it has a light blue background. Part of
    our header is light blue, but it's not the same color as what's
    behind the logo. Here's the link to our page:

    Any ideas what I can do to fix this? It looks fine in
    Firefox, IE7, and Opera. Argh!
    Thanks,
    Dana

    Google "PNG transparency".

  • Graphics display problem need help.

    I have a class called "Window" that obviously sets up my window, I also have a class called "IconGen" that should generate an Icon. Both of the class codes are posted below but for some reason I cannot get the graphic to show up in the frame. Can anyone lend a helping hand??
    Window code:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class Window extends JFrame{
         JPanel jp = new JPanel();
         public void setupJFrame(){
              setBackground(Color.gray);
              setSize(200,200);
              setVisible(true);
              addWindowListener     (new WindowAdapter(){
                   public void windowClosing(WindowEvent e){
                        System.exit(0);
         public void setupJPanel(){
         jp.setBackground(Color.white);
         getContentPane().add(jp);
         setVisible(true);}
         public static void main(String args[]){
              Window w = new Window();
              IconGen i = new IconGen();
              w.setupJFrame();
              w.setupJPanel();
         w.getContentPane().add(i);
    IconGen code:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.geom.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class IconGen extends JComponent{
    private     Color salmon = new Color(255,128,128);
    private     Polygon p = new Polygon();
    public Polygon IconGen(){
                   int[] x = {75,125,75,25};
                   int[] y = {25,75,125,75};
                   int pts = 4;
                   Polygon p = new Polygon(x,y,pts);
         return(p);
    public void paint(Graphics g){
                   super.paint(g);
                   g.setColor(salmon);
                   g.translate(15,15);
                   g.fillPolygon(p);
    }

    Hi the constructor of IconGen looks like a problem, and it should subclass JPanel not JComponent.
    Here's a working example:
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class TestFrame extends javax.swing.JFrame {
    /** Creates new form TestFrame */
    public TestFrame() {
    initComponents();
    this.getContentPane().add(new MyIcon());
    /** This method is called from within the constructor to
    * initialize the form.
    * WARNING: Do NOT modify this code. The content of this method is
    * always regenerated by the Form Editor.
    private void initComponents() {
    addWindowListener(new java.awt.event.WindowAdapter() {
    public void windowClosing(java.awt.event.WindowEvent evt) {
    exitForm(evt);
    pack();
    /** Exit the Application */
    private void exitForm(java.awt.event.WindowEvent evt) {
    System.exit(0);
    * @param args the command line arguments
    public static void main(String args[]) {
    new TestFrame().show();
    // Variables declaration - do not modify
    // End of variables declaration
    class MyIcon extends JPanel{
    Color salmon = new Color(255,128,128);
    int[] x = {75,125,75,25};
    int[] y = {25,75,125,75};
    int pts = 4;
    Polygon p = new Polygon(x,y,pts);
    public void paint(Graphics g){
    g.setColor(salmon);
    g.fillPolygon(p);

  • Graphics display problem after upgrade of HTML DB from 1.5 to 1.6

    I recently installed HTML DB version 1.5 from Companion CD and tested and everything seemed to work. I immediatley applied the 1.6 version upgrade but now no graphics are shown on the HTML DB ADMIN page. I checked the files from the upgrade $ORACLE_HOME/Patch/htmldb/images and the $ORACLE_HOME/CCD/marvel/images and verified the Alias in $ORACLE_HOME/CCD/Apache/modplsql/conf/marvel.conf. Do I need to look elsewhere for the images?

    If that's the case then they made a mistake. If there's not a specific forum for HTMLDB, you could try one of the database groups because I think it ships with the database.

  • Problem with playroll/graphic display

    Hi, this is my first post so bear with me. I'll try to be as explicit as possible.
    So, I'm having an issue on my iMac 24" 2.4 4GB memory. Randomly, after I edit a VST, or add an effect onto a track and playback the audio, the playroll will quit moving and the graphic displays (volume meters, etc) all stop functioning. If I click on the screen, it flashes the playhead and meters for an instant, and then immediately stops. It's kind of strange; the audio all sounds fine. I just like to see the playhead and movement on the display.
    The real strange thing here is, when I restart Logic 8, even with the same effects and everything enabled--exactly the same--the playhead works fine. Then after a few more edits, this same thing happens. Restarting logic immediately fixes the issue.
    Any advice--whether it be altering my buffer settings, etc--would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time!

    Sorry, one thing to add. The things I'm editing are not that crazy--pretty simple stuff, a few filters.

  • Wierd lines on my display and frequent lock-ups w/ and w/o display problems

    When booting I sometimes get weird lines and blocks on my display (the GRAY Apple screen) and then it hangs, other times the computer will boot and run fine for 20-30 minutes and then the display goes wonkers with blocks and lines and the computer does not respond. The only way I can get it to boot is to reset the PRAM by letting it CHIME 3x and then occasionally it will boot without issue and run, while other times I still get the blocks and lines on the display.
    When I am able to get it to recover and re-boot after the lock-up and display problems and occasionally the box in the middle asking me to re-boot similar to a kernel panic the OPS gives me the option to REPORT the error and here is the error for others who would know more...
    Thank you in advance,
    Darren

    Anyone know what is causing my problems? I thought it was heat so I downloaded a CPU and FAN temperature monitor and the CPU was getting VERY HOT at first so I then ramped-up the CPU FAN SPEED to maximum - it turns out the CPU FAN was not rotating well at low speed - since then I have cleaned and checked the fans and they all work as they should and blow on high(er) when the CPU temperature is above a certain level.

    Is there a kb article or something that would illuminate what to look for in these logs, or is it a matter of learning by osmosis?
    Both. I am not skilled in reading logs. It is a very technical and time consuming task for the uninitiated (me!) In scanning a log I look for the backtrace and loading dependencies. The first item in the backtrace is usually the roadblock.

    Hello,
    I am having display problem with my Macbook (Intel) and my 25'' HP 2510i monitor via DVI.. Until last monday I do not have any problems and my monitor was working flawless with my macbook.. Last monday I used the monitor with my HP Notebook to try Windows 8 on large screen. And after that try when I connect the monitor back to Macbook there is no display.. I tried the steps below
    - I connected Macbook to my Phillips Plasma TV and it worked (no error with display card of Macbook or the wire or the adaptor)
    - I connected the monitor back to HP laptop it worked.. (so no error with the monitor)
    - I unplugged monitor to cut electricity and tried.. nope not working
    - I did several tricks with macbook no effect
    - I reinstalled Mountain Lion .. no effect
    - I formatted Macbook, reinstalled Snow Leopard.. Not working.. I installed back Mountain Lion .. not working
    Whatever I tried the HP2510i is not displaying, mirroring my Macbook..

  • Windows 7 64 bit on iMac display problems and instability

    I received my iMac 27" quad core with 8 gig ram & 2 x 1 TB hard drives last Friday. I'm using Boot Camp to run windows 7 64 bit on maximum 2560 x 1440 screen resolution.
    I get intermittent but often display problems in windows 7. I get areas of the screen covered in little yellow dots or blue squares (never red artefacts.) This will happen at random areas of the screen, inside an open window, around borders of windows and so on. Most often the screen will go black and come back with a message in the bottom right corner of the screen saying 'Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered' with the sub message saying 'display driver ATI radeon family stopped....etc'. Sometimes I lose the screen wallpaper. Once I've had the system just shut down, once I've had Photoshop seize up and I had to do a cold reboot. Could this be an overheating problem or resolution too high problem or driver problem? Windows 7 tells me my drivers are up to date. I tried installing the drivers for the card from ATI's website which made no difference
    The reason I bought a Mac is because it's the only effective way to code for the Mac family of OS's in XCode. The reason I didn't just attach a miniMac to my PC monitor was because there's rather a lot of advertising by Apple about the fact that you can use a Mac with a PC OS via Apple's own Boot Camp. Now I have a lot of Windows software (some of which is not available for the Mac or requires buying again) sitting on an unstable system. Any ideas would be much appreciated...

    Sorry, that thread got moved for edit and as a user tip... which I didn't want and won't be doing....
    Here is the post:
    A tip and workaround for how to get ATI mobility/laptop drivers so that Windows no longer thinks the ATI is a desktop card:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11286987
    Summary (my own edit steps):
    1. Install Boot Camp 3.0 and upgrade to 3.1
    2. Uninstall graphic drivers and run Driver Sweeper
    http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/
    instead of:
    removing the crashing driver by going into windows 7 setup via its install cd and deleting the ati driver manaully
    3. Install ATI Mobility (link)
    4. Uninstall ATI (Programs control panel?) Device Manager (rollback; uninstall?)
    5. Device Nanager: update driver and BROWSE BACK to 8.681 (the original apple driver that was causing freezes and purple artifacts) - navigate to /Apple/Drivers/ATI
    (Apple uses) a 4850 card in the iMac, its modified a bit for apple. Enough that desktop drivers don't work, and modded-for-laptop desktop drivers don't work either.
    Now the upshot of using modified drivers is that it FORCES the catalyst control panel to be installed, meaning you get a few more options to mess around with the card.
    I couldn't use the original apple drive, it locks up, the newer one had banding, the newer radeon drivers direct form ATI wouldn't work until they were modded and then they cause black screens.
    SO the solution, as obscure as it was, was to download ACTUAL mobility Radeon drivers - version 10.3 still, but made for laptops.
    http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
    THESE drivers I was able to install - and here is where things changed.
    THIS driver changed they way windows saw the video card in device manager.
    As I mentioned before, its NOT a desktop card, its a modified laptop card, but installing mac drivers makes windows THINK its a full desktop card, and running the original 8.681 driver crashed it.
    Once installed 10.3 LAPTOP driver it now appeared in device manager as a MOBILITY card.
    +These Steps "should" work:+
    delete ATI driver manually
    reinstall apple driver after that and see if that works,
    otherwise try the steps above
    (mod drivers, remove via windows recovery off setup disk, install laptop drivers, reinstall apple driver over it)

  • Display problem (washed out) on MBP 13" late 2011

    I have a Macbook Pro 13" unibody late 2011, i 5 (bought it at 1200 usd). Since last year I have been experiencing an over heating issue and noisy machine or fan (I cant distinguish clearly), even sometimes the machine still works and makes noisy sound when there's no running application.  I am a student and  not using my MBP to do professional work, such as video processing, playing videogame, or any heavy task. What I usually do are writing using Office, listening music and sometimes watching movie. Yet, a week ago my screen suddenly got washed out, like it was faded to white. I brought it to apple asp and they told me that I need to replace my Display (400 usd) and logic board (700 usd). It's totally crazy how in just 2,5 years I need to replace the units that cost me as much as a new MBP!! I bought Apple product bcause of its durability and quality, therefore this news is surely unacceptable esp when I know that I dont use my computer excessively. I tried to search the core issue and found that the 2011 MBP 15" and 17" has problem with its Graphic display and some of the users got a free logic board replacement. However, I was rare to see this goes also to MBP 13"? I really need a suggestion on this issue. Do you guys think that my problem is the same case with the 15" and 17"? And what should I do with this laptop?
    Apple is truly disappoint me. Even a cheaper laptop can last more than 3 years..

    mirapple6611,
    The GPU problems with the 2011 models only show up in the 15" and 17" models, so you've not the same problem that some of us have had.
    A new screen and a logic board replacement would be pretty expensive, I'm guessing? I've no idea why they would suggest a logic board replacement if your machine displays fine on other screens. A logic board replacement just doesn't make sense if that's the case.
    If I were you, I'd get a 'second opinion' from another AASP. Won't hurt and may save you some money in the end.

  • Another dual display problem - GeForce FX 5200

    I've seen lots of questions about dual display problem, situation when trying to connect two non-apple vga displays to your graphic card.
    I have GeForce FX 5200 graphic card, with 2 display output's. And two DELL 17" vga LCD displays.
    I manage to connect 1 display regulary with dvi to vga converter, but for other display I tried several difrent converters ADC to DVI to VGA, and it just did NOT work.
    G5 could see other display in display settings, in arrange option I coud see two identical displays, but I don't get anu picture (desktop) on other display???
    Is it problem with output's on my graphic card (Gforce FX 5200), could it be soloved with some ADC to VGA converter?

  • Ideacentre B320 display problem

    I'm suffering from a display problem, and cannot figure if it's a software or hardware issue... I'm on Win7 64bit. Here are the symptoms:
    1) For a while now, intermittently the screen would go grey (or some sort of a messed up pattern of rgb pixels) and I would have to power down forcefully. The frequency of this has gone up very much in the recent weeks
    2) When the machine freezes, I can still hear the music playing, and Windows continues to do whatever it was doing before
    3) Recently (I'm guessing after a Windows update), I wasn't able to boot into normal mode anymore. It would show the Windows splash screen, then before the login screen appears it would just go black and freeze. Leaving it for a long time doesn't lead to recovery
    4) To try and fix this, I've updated the ATI driver to the latest version, which didn't work so progressively tried every version between the11.6 and 10.3 (4?) which was the default when the machine was purchased. No luck there. I've also flashed the bios and that didn't help either
    5) I can boot into safe mode, so I disabled amdkmdap using sysinternal's autoruns.exe, which meant that I can boot into normal mode, but it woud fall back onto Windows' vga driver (1400x1050 only!)
    6) Now, even in the low res mode, almost daily the grey screen freezing would happen and I would have to reboot. Tapping the power button allows the shutdown dialog to come up (I'm guessing), and pressing enter would shut down the machine then.
    There's an awful lot of posts on the internet regarding people having issues with ATI HD6450 and similar category cards, some of which sound similar to my case. They too experienced the freezing problem and reverting or upgrading the drivers had no effect (many even reinstalled windows completely). It sounds like though, the problem is software in origin at a guess.
    On the other hand, the machine is now 3-4 years old and I could imagine that the GPU or graphics memory might have suffered wear and tear -- emailing Lenovo support took a week to get a response, the only thing they asked was whether my warranty is still active (after that it's been a complete silence) are they usually this terrible?
    The last thing is, when the problem first occurred I booted using a linux live CD and it was all fine, at full resolution graphics. I haven't repeated this experiment since it takes quite a while to boot from a CD... but suggested that the hardware is intact. In fact, by messing about with the drivers I was able to boot into Windows normal mode and operate for 1-2 days, after which the grey freeze happened again. I haven't been able to get back into that since.
    Here is my question: Is there a way to find out whether it's software or hardware that's at fault? If it turns out to be hardware, what are my options at replacements? The GPU is soldered onto the motherboard, so do I have to replace the whole thing? If it's a software issue, would restoring to factory default state fix this issue, given that an unknown update could cause the same issue at any time... This is the last time I will buy an AIO without removable everything.

    Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
    Probably a good test of the hardware is use the Linux Live CD that you used earlier.   If the graphics are still good when using the Live CD then your monitor and GPU are fine.
    If the hardware checks out Ok then I suspect you have a driver problem.  Try using a driver cleaner to fully uninstall the ATI driver since bit and pieces left over from previous driver installs can cause problems.  The link below is for a free and highly recommended utility for cleaning the system of the graphic drivers.  After the clean up I would try installing the original driver that came with your system.

    Hello @Ronny123  welcome to the HP Forums.
    I see that you're having a display problem, that you've spoken to support and they were having you update the drivers. I will try to assist you with this.
    The steps that you were provided are on the correct path, as you ran into an issue with this. Please trying installing the following drivers while in Safe Mode.
    Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver
    NVIDIA Graphics Driver
    Please ensure that you install them in that order.
    If you run into the same problem in Safe Mode, start the computer back up normally and try the steps provided in this document: Display Quality Issues.
    If those both fail, do a system refresh: Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8).
    Let me know if any of the above was able to help you with this issue.
