Graphic Invisible

I just swapped to InDesign CS4. I have a full color document I'm working on with lots of graphics. I just placed another graphic and it's not showing up. The outline is there but the graphic has disappeared. It's a tiff file cmyk. I have my display set at high performance. The transparency is set at 100%. What else could it be?

First off, it's possible the first graphic was really there, but the scaling changed and you only saw a white area, or perhaps it was shifted beyond the bounds of the frame. Look in the links panel and see how many copies there are, then use the "Go to link" button to find each one.
There is a bug in the Windows version of ID that was introduced in CS3. You must press the CTRL key BEFORE you click the mouse in order for it to scale the content of the frame while re-sizing. It's annoying at first, but it becomes a habit pretty quickly.

  • I would like to overlay a graphic on top of an array.

    I have the framework for a front panel control that I would like to use.  The easiest way for me to have a scaleable soloution would be to have a large, 2D boolean control array that I can simply resize for different projects.
    Each boolean control needs to have a different label, so that is making it very hard to just use a simple boolean array.  I have come pretty close to a solution, but I just can't get it working due to the front panel ordering.
    What I would like to do, ideally, is be able to place a transparant overlay on TOP of the the array, sized so that each element in the boolean array has a text label on top.  When I need to use a different sized array, I can just put a different image in and not have to mess with the underlying code.
    I've tried a few things, and everythig ALMOST works.  The overlay looks great on top of the boolean buttons, but the image is on top of the array and blocks the operation of the array control.  If I put the array on top of the transparant graphic, the array hides the graphic.
    I really need to be able to either click through the graphic as if it is not there except for decoration, or make the array control transparant.  The boolean buttons already have a transparant overlay on them already.  If I put transparant buttons alone on top of the overlay, it works great, but I can't put the buttons into an array and still have the transparancy working.
    Is there some way to make the graphic invisible to the mouse and allow me to click buttons underneath?  I'm getting pretty close to just printing out my transparant graphic onto transparancy paper and taping it on top of the monitor...

    You have described a picture control!
    Take a look at the code that was part of the CC & Friends project. THe GUI looks like this;
    In that app we did not know at development time, what the emoticons the end user would include in their collection so a picture control gave us the option to "build the GUI" at run time. When that code loads up, it develops the image the user will see and keeps track of where each emoticon is located in the picture. When a user clicks on an image the coordinates of the click within the picture are used to find which emoticon the user selected.
    So maybe you should concider implementing your GUI using a picture control.

  • 2 questions : How do I know if a video in Flash is streaming? 2nd - how can I make an overlay for video?

    Two questions :
    1) I have created a QT.mov, imported it into Flash, but after
    thinking about it, I want to be sure it is streaming for the web.
    How can I be sure of that? If it is not, what code can I put to
    make sure it is loading?
    2) How can I make an overlay for the video that disappears as
    soon as the user clicks on the play button?

    1. Without a flash ciommunication server for TRUE streaming
    of the file, what you get is called Progressive streaming. This
    means once the video begins to download it can start playing before
    the file has completely downloaded to the user. There are good
    descriptions (including pros and cons) of this here:
    http://www.mediacollege.com/video/streaming/overview.html
    2. If you have the file set to start automatically there will
    be no need for the user to push the play button. You could just put
    a graphic on top of the video component, and use actionscript to
    make the graphic invisible when the play button is pushed.

  • Invisible text in graphics

    When I copy-paste text into Animate graphics, I can't see the actual text until I double-click on the text box ... then I can see the text in editing mode. Anyone else had this problem?

    Invisible text in Flash enabled web pages is a frustrating problem that is affecting Mac Users who play Farm Town (8.5+ million people on FaceBook) and probably many other games too.  See this forum as an example of the problem:  http://slashkey.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2531318
    Before even reading this forum I did everything that appears here with no success and then everything listed in the referenced forum (above) with no success... but the following did fix the invisible text problem and I hope that it will help others too.
    1.  Drag the Font folder from the User directory to the trash  ie. ~/Library/Fonts.  (where ~ is = your User Account Name.)
         Be careful; this is NOT the Font folder in the main library.
    2. Download Font Finagler v1.5 beta for Mac OS 6, and clean the font cashe files following the instructions for this free shareware app.
            http://homepage.mac.com/mdouma46/fontfinagler/
    3. Open the Font Book app which is a new app that is included with the Mac OS Snow Leopard (10.6). (Font Book is in the Applications folder.) Read the Help info for this app and then: Choose "All Fonts" in the left column and then choose "Select Duplicate Fonts" from the Edit menu. Disable or delete all duplicate fonts that this process identifies. After dealing with the duplicate fonts, select "All Fonts" again in the left column and choose "Validate Fonts" from the File Menu.  Deal with the results that it will display using the help file for guidance.  Interestingly, in my case there were no corrupt fonts in my Mac system, but the validation process identified more duplicate fonts that the previous step did not find. Again deal with the findings and disable or delete the duplicate fonts.
    4. Reboot your Mac and get on with using your Flash enabled web pages.  Duplicate fonts seems to be the problem that cause invisible text in Flash enabled web pages.
    Hope this helps you... it worked for me.

  • Missing/Invisible flash library graphics

    Hi,
    I recently got the free trial of Flash CC on my computer at home to work on a few projects that I am working on at my schools computers, which have CS5. Recently when I went onto the schools CS5 Flash, I imported my project which was a Flash CC project onto the computer and all of my library graphics apear to be invisible or maybe missing. All I see on stage is the center point (forgot what the little white circle is called) for each of the assets. I can still see the path of the tweens, the white center point is still there, and each graphic is still in the library, its just no image appears. Note, I have done this before (importing CC files onto CS5) and it has worked just fine.
    Update/Edit: Ive noticed that only the graphics that I made from scene two (edit: two and one) of my three mutliscened project are missing. Meaning, I worked on my Scene 2 at my house and the schools computer, went home and worked on scene 3, and then I went back onto my schools computer and now all of my graphics that I made during Scene 2 are invisible...
    Sorry if this is confusing,
    Thanks for the help.

    Update: I am able to see the graphics that are missing/invisible in the library, but I am not able to access them for what ever reason, meaning when I double click the graphic icon next to the name in the library it doesnt open up a new page for that graphic, and also the preview for the graphic in the top is blank. So its almost like they wern't loaded in.

  • Themes invisible, blank pages, colours not right, looks like a graphic error, but isn't one

    hey there
    Keynote '08 (used on a 10.6.8 Mac OS X) doesn't work anymore. The only thing that works and looks as it should is the window itself with all the buttons and stuff.
    I choose a theme and want to start working and all I can see is a blank page...no background,no letters etc.
    I cannot see what I'm writing (cause everything's in white), only when I mark the letters I can see them. When I start the presentation I can either see nothing at all or a very ugly version of the theme and words, that looks as if the graphic card of my Mac had crashed. I cannot even choose different font colours...everything's just white.
    Some of the themes appear....but a theme that's supposed to be in blue appears green....and so on. It's so strange!
    Already finished keynotes can be opened with the app, but look the same. Everything looks like a graphic error so to speak. Pictures look as if they were a negative of the original picture.
    The only way to look at an existing keynote is by using "preview" in the finder.
    I've already deinstalled the software and put it on again.
    Nothing changed...
    I just don't know what's going on here....
    Any ideas?? :-(

    I have the same issue. Can somebody help, please.

  • Graphical Framework : How to make scale axis invisible

    Hi ,
    I want to make the scale axis invisble.
    How can I achieve this.
    Thanks,

    hi;
    Then you have to create Role Y without workset or Page only with iViews, so no Navigation will be generated. :h1
    But if you habe Workset and Page in your role , just go to all Page and workset and set this properties>navigation>Invisible in Navigation Areas  to false.
    I Hoppe it will help
    Take care

  • In Graphical:  Creates new "invisible" Track

    [If this has already been answered I apologize but I searched, and was unable to find it.]
    When i create a new track in the graphical view, the icon doesn't appear ... Everything appears to be working correctly elsewhere as I do get it in the track editor pull-down. Did I accidentally turn something off? When I create a new menu everything works fine.
    Ideas?

    In the top left hand corner of the graphical viewer, I realized I had accidentally clicked the "hide tracks" button.

  • Making Video Invisible Under Title Graphic

    I'm new to this whole thing, and I'm trying to overlay a graphic and title over the beginning of my video clip. I still want to keep the audio, but just have a graphic logo fade in then fade out--and then a title fade in/fade out and then the remainder of the video will become visible again synced up with the audio.
    Just haven't the slightest idea how to do it!

    Assuming I am understanding what you are trying to accomplish and what you may have done so far....
    Which video track did you put the slug on? Also the slug brings an audio track with it, you need to either delete the audio or turn it off. Bottom line is the slug for video needs to be on a track above the video you want to cover.
    I might also suggest that you spend sometime with a tutorial or a book. FCE is a bit too complicated for a learn as you go approach. You might get by with iMovie that way, but FCE is a different level of editing software.

  • Invisible graphic curbs on my sounds tracks

    Hello,
    I have Premiere CC (with last updates) and now (cause i was on CS6 just before that) on my old and new projects (even those created with CC) i can the see the blocks on my sound tracks but no graphic curbs in it. My sounds (aiif, mp3, wav...) are juste colored blocks with no grpahics in it. I can only see the graphics in ythe preview window but not on the timeline... Does anybody knows how to fix it ?
    thanx
    Julien

    Are you talking about the waveform?  Click the timeline wrench and make sure Show Audio Waveforms is checked.  Also go to Edit>Preferences>Audio and make sure "Automatic peak file generation" is checked.

  • With multiple Office 2013 items opened, Word opens an invisible document

    Using Windows 7 64-bit, 4GB RAM, and Office Plus 2013, fully updated as of 03/31/2015:
    User has multiple Excel windows open, multiple Outlook windows open and multiple Word windows open (4 word docs/windows) -
    When the user opens a 5th Word document, a 5th item appears on the taskbar, but it is invisible (just a document outline).  This happened today as a result of a mail merge.  The merge happened, opened the new resulting doc, but was not visible.
     We hit the red "X" on the taskbar item to which it asked if we wanted to save.  We did, and then opened the saved doc from her docs directory and it opened fine.  Obviously Word is working but just not showing up.  This seems
    to happen only when multiple Office items are open.  Is this an Office bug?  User has about 79% RAM in use at the time of this glitch, but never over-subscribed.

    Hi,
    As far as I know, this issue usually occurs with Windows7 and Office 2013. Please try the below methods:
    File - Options - Advanced - General section - check the box for "ignore other apps that use DDE".
    File - Options- Advanced - Display - uncheck Disable hardware graphics acceleration.
    Update display card driver
    Increase virtual memory (We'd better use more RAM)
    Hope it's helpful.

  • Office 2013 invisible windows

    I have a strange problem that seems to be occurring randomly but regulary on my computer. It also seems to effect some of my collegues but not to the point it does for me.
    The problem is that with my Office 2013 installation I will every once in a while get invisible windows for Office 2013 applications. This means that one or more of my open Office 2013 windows turns invisible and can not be accessed unless first minimized
    by right clicking the taskbar icon and then restored/maximized again. Then the window will turn normal again. A side effect of this is also that sometimes the invisible window is the top window making it impossible to click on whatever window seems to be on
    top (but actually is under the invisible window).
    This applies to all applications in the Office 2013 installation, I have seen the bug for Word, Excel, Outlook (main window, open email conversations, etc), Powerpoint and Access.
    The behaviour is similar to what is described in the following (but closed) thread for the preview version but I am using the latest version with the latest updates from Microsoft Update. The difference is that I do not see any connection to closed windows
    as described in this thread.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/officeitpropreview/thread/fac48ad4-516c-457c-ba89-56f47f465841/
    I am using Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 (Swedish) but I also have Excel 2003/2007/2010 installed. I have never seen this for any of the earlier versions so this is something new for Office 2013.
    Anyone have any solution to this?

    I've experienced this problem since day 1 of installing office 2013. i don't open attachments as often as some folks might, so that's not where i see the problem. usually one of the office 2013 window will just randomly be invisible when i switch to it.
    i'm used to it by now and i know to either alt+space+r or x (resize window, maximize window) and the window will properly repaint/refresh itself. if i know the form is maximized i can also grab the invisible window handle at the top of the screen, drag it
    around, and it repaints itself.
    I would think it's an issue with some new window container system office uses, because i see it on outlook, onenote, excel, practically all of them that i use. i use no third-party plug-ins except lync and live meeting, and since they're microsoft products
    i don't even consider those as third-party. what comes to mind is the cute new 'customize the look of the office windows' system. i picked the geometric pattern (lol is that bad?).
    this is on a dell precision company laptop, windows 7 x64, nvidia graphics card, and office 2013 x32. it may be relevant that dameware is installed and running at all times. i wonder if anyone else with this problem also runs dameware?

  • How do I make a JTextArea invisible to the mouse?

    Consider the applet below. There is a small JTextArea sitting in the glass pane. There are 3 JButtons sitting in a JPanel that is sitting in the content pane. One is completely under the JTextArea, one is half in and half out, & the last is completely outside it (at least I hope thats what it looks like on your machine.) The idea is when you click the disable button the JTextArea is disabled and you can click on the button that's underneath it.
    But it doesn't work that way. even when the JTextArea is disabled the mouse still cant click through it.
    Is there some way to make the JTextArea completely invisible to the mouse so I can click through it? I know setVisible(false) on the glass panel will work but I only want it to be invisible to the mouse, not my eyes.

  • CS5 - Graphic with feathered edge disappears when exported to PDF

    I just ran into an odd problem, and unfortunately the book got printed before we saw the problem … ugh!
    I set up a chapter header for a book. It was a graphic of wood to which I added a 0p9 feathered edge. In a text box on top of this, I put the chapter name in white type. They were both on the same layer, but the text box was on top.
    I didn't notice at the time that when I exported the page to PDF, the graphic disappeared … and since the type was white, the whole chapter header was invisible. If I opened the PDF in Acrobat Pro using Pitstop, I could select a box where it was supposed to be, but couldn't make it show up.
    I tried creating another layer and moving the text up to that; no good. The only way I was eventually able to make that darn wood graphic show up on the PDF was if I shut off the feathered edge.
    Now I know I've used a feathered edge frequently, and have never run into this problem before. Does anyone have any idea why this time should be any different? There's was no color other than black, only one layer, and nothing was set to non-printing. I used the same export settings I always use. Stumped here … and very unhappy that we missed it and printed the book without the headers (my fault for not catching it, but doesn't make me any happier).
    Specs:
    Mac OS 10.5.8
    InDesign CS5 (version 7.0)
    Export setting - set to print to Acrobat 8/9 compatibility (PDF 1.7) with crop marks on
    Hoping someone has some insight here. It's too late for the current job, but I'd like to know why it did it so I can avoid the problem in the future.

    Hi John,
    My InDesign files are too big to upload anywhere, but these two screen shots show an example of this problem.
    This is how the spread looks in InDesign (link and effect info for right image shown):
    ... and this is how the exported PDF spread looks (normal "Press Quality" export setting):
    As you can see, several, but not all, objects with transparent effects have disappeared.

  • TLF 2/2.1/3 Weird behavior with floating graphics?

    Hi guys,
    I'm working on a chat application running on RED5 / AS3 and I'm struggling to get my client "UI" working perfectly.
    My problem is related to the TL Framework, on every version available.
    Basicly, I want to display a picture ( for user messages ) and icons ( for notifications ) on the left side of my lines, like this :
    So, I'v been messing around with "float=start", "float=left" and such, but i'm always encountering weird behaviors whenever I scroll or resize my containerController. It's quite easy to reproduce with the following code :
    public class Main extends Sprite
              private var controller:ContainerController;
              public function Main():void
                        if (stage) init();
                        else addEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, init);
              private function init(e:Event = null):void
                        stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
                        stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;
                        removeEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, init);
                        var holder:Sprite = new Sprite();
                        addChild( holder );
                        var tFlow:TextFlow = new TextFlow();
                        for ( var i:int = 0; i < 50; i++ )
                             tFlow.addChild( createLine() );
                        controller = new ContainerController( holder, 400, stage.stageHeight  );
                        tFlow.flowComposer.addController( controller );
                        tFlow.flowComposer.updateAllControllers();
                        stage.addEventListener( Event.RESIZE, resizeController );
              private function resizeController( e:Event ):void
                        controller.setCompositionSize( 400, stage.stageHeight );
                        controller.textFlow.flowComposer.updateAllControllers();
              public function createLine( ):DivElement
                        var d:DivElement;
                        var p:ParagraphElement;
                        var im:InlineGraphicElement = new InlineGraphicElement();
                        im.source = new Bitmap( new BitmapData( 16, 16, true, 0x30FF0000 ) ); // 0x30 Alpha
                        im.float = "left";

    Basicly, I'm stacking 50 transparent "floating" elements. It works fine most of time, but if I randomly resize my Flash Player Window, I can get the first "invisible" element to overlap the last "visible" :
    It seems to be happening right when the last "floating" element should disappear. Instead, it gets "over" the previous one. It happens upon container resize and scrolls. I'v encountered this issue on lastest 2, 2.1 and 3 TLF builds.
    Beside the visual "bug", it also screws up my container.getContentBounds().height calls - which can make scrolling "trembling", as the height gets reajusted.
    I'm running out of ideas about how to handle this. This bug appears whenever I use "floating" graphics and I can't think of any other way to display graphics on the left side of my chat-lines.
    Maybe someone ran into this very problem and figured out a way to make it work?
    Excuse my english, thanks in advance,
    Lionel.

    Thank you for your report. And I have found the root cause.
    In BaseCompose.as
    protected function composeFloat(elem:InlineGraphicElement, afterLine:Boolean):Boolean
    if (!floatFits && (_curParcel.fitAny || _curParcel.fitsInHeight(totalDepth, int(logicalFloatHeight))) && (!_curLine || _curLine.absoluteStart == floatPosition || afterLine))
                    floatFits = true;
    The condition of if is true, only when the weird behavior happens. We need to discuss about how to fix it.
