Graphic Stuttering, ATI & NEO2

Hey Guys,
A friend of mine with a very similar specs, I have listed them below do not use my sig for reference, Is getting a very consistent stuttering in all games now.  Everything was alright a couple of weeks ago around 64,000 in Aqua and now 35,000.
Games stutter but everything else seems ok.  We did not update anything between now and then.  After the symptoms started I updated the video drivers, turned fast writes on and off, changed memory timings and toyed with the wait for vertical sync.
His Specs:
Socket 939 Athlon 64 3500+
MSI NEO2 Platinum NForce 3, v1.3
Gigabyte ATI x800 XT
Seagate 120 GB 8 MB Cache
2 x 1 GB OCZ, PC3200, Cas Latency: 3-3-3-7
ThermalTake 560 W0023, +3.3V@30A,+5V@40A,+12V@22A
Mine did the same thing when I was using a ATI 9700 PRO on my current rig.  I was never able to fix it, but reinstalling did get me back.  I would like to avoid that with my freind.

This will probably be no help because it sounds like you've been through the BIOS.
My old computer would stutter in all games unless the AGP Aperature was set to 128.
With this K8N Neo2 and 6800GT it seems fine at 256 or 512.
Also after the 1.4 BIOS flash it reset the Primary graphics card to PCI instead of remaining on AGP. Is PCI/VGA Palette Snoop disabled?
Its not an overheating issue I hope. The graphics slot and CPU are too damn close together on this board.
With on-line gaming and WinXP I've had IRQ conflict issues that caused game stuttering.
Maybe someone else will have better ideas.
Later, Conrad

  • I have a problem with Imac mid 2010 graphics card (ATI Radeon 5670 512MB)

I have a problem with Imac mid 2010 graphics card (ATI Radeon 5670 512MB). When I play video formats like xvid, mkv, avi iMac freezes and emits horrible sound,in service said the problem is not overheating. Not a problem with memory or hard disk because I placed second correct parts. The same problem is with OSX 10.6.8 and 10.8.4 and other players.Apple hardware test found no problem and tech tool pro found no fault.
After five days of testing in the service they can not  found fault and it was decided to change the graphics card.
New graphics have been tested for two days but it is not reproduced divx ... but their test software which did not find any fault on the old graphics...
Do I have the right to complain if repair does not fix the problem because I use non apple softwere and video formats.

You could look at the System Profile for the info it presents for the card.  But why wouldn't you think it's not up to date if you have the latest install (according to your sig above)?
What program are you trying to run?  Is there anything in the system log?
I think it's the program that's having the problem and not anything with your video software.

  • Will my graphics card ATI Radeon HD 5000 1024 MB give me the power/speed benefits of Premiere cs6

will my graphics card ATI Radeon HD 5000 1024 MB give me the power/speed benefits of Premiere cs6??

As cc_merchant implied, Premiere Pro CS6 does not support OpenCL at all (in the Windows versions of Premiere) for MPE GPU acceleration. Your system with such a GPU would perform more or less equal to a system that has no discrete GPU at all (one that relies solely on an integrated graphics solution on the CPU or motherboard) because the MPE is permanently locked to the software-only mode. If you do see any tangible increase in the response of your current setup as compared to an otherwise identical system without a discrete GPU at all, it's because your system leaves more system RAM available for Premiere to work with.

  • Help me resolve graphics stuttering

I'm not sure when this started... but it's reached a point where I must do something about it because it's really, really annoying.
I bought my Macbook Pro (Build 10J567) in January 2009. I don't know when exactly this problem started but it's been a few months at least. My MBP has a case of severe graphical stuttering in graphics intensive applications like games.
It's strange.. I know I've played through entire FPS games with a butter smooth frame rate on this very MBP back when I bought it. I just recently got Borderlands GOTY from the Mac App Store and while I know that it is a graphics intensive game, I also know that my system more than meets the hardware requirements and that, at the very least, it should be able to run the game smoothly if I turn ALL graphics options down to low. It, however, does not.
What will happen is that I will have a smooth framerate for about 2 or 3 seconds and then it will stutter at what I guess must be around 10 FPS for about the same amount of time, then pick up again and be smooth, then stutter. Smooth. Stutter. Smooth. Stutter. Every 2 to 3 seconds, always alternating. It's strange, really.
I've tried all the things that come to mind... quitting absolutely all apps before launching a game. Restarting the system and then launching the app. In 99% of similar cases, that would probably solve the problem. Not here.
I don't know what else to try... it could be some app that I use that causes this, though it's hard to imagine that. And even if so, I already tried quitting all apps before.
My next step will be a disk format and a reinstallation of Snow Leopard.
    Some infos about my system:
    Hardware Overview:
    Model Name : MacBook Pro
    Model Identifier : MacBookPro5,1
Processor Name : Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed : 2.53 GHz
    Number Of Processors : 1
Total Number Of Cores : 2
    L2 Cache : 6 MB
    Memory : 4 GB
    Bus Speed : 1.07 GHz
    Boot ROM Version : MBP51.007E.B05
    SMC Version (system) : 1.33f8
Here's what runs when I start my Mac: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/250734/Screenshots/apps%20on%20login.png
A lot of data does move to and from my system. Could be that the disk is quite fragmented... I don't know.
Any ideas? If you need more info about something, just let me know.

Two days ago, I did a complete reinstall of Snow Leopard. Meanwhile, everything is up to date, and I only added a minimal number of crucial apps I use. I don't have pictures/movies/music back on the Mac yet. There are some 282GB of free space and everything is squeaky clean.
And the stuttering in games remains. This helps a lot because it means it wasn't some background app that was causing this. Must be something wrong with the driver or the GFX card itself...

Unfortunately graphic card exchange is not possible.
Every notebook has specific hardware platform and each of them is optimized to work properly (BIOS, cooling system and so on).
So this is definitely not possible.

Can someone help me with this issue?
I have a Toshiba Satellite A210-128 laptop with vista separately on DVD, but it seems that the dvd is damaged and I can not use it any more.
I have installed on my laptop a brand new Vista from the original DVD that Im using it on my desktop, but the problem is that vista can not detect my graphic card hd2600.
So Im stuck...... I tried to install the ati driver from the Toshiba update site but I get a error because ccc can not detect a graphic card ?????/
    What to do????
It is something special with the DVD that i have from Toshiba ?????
    Thank you very much.

    The whole issue is really mysterious. In my opinion there are two options;
Either your have used and tried to install a wrong graphic driver or there is something wrong with your GPU chip.
Are you 100% that you tired an right graphic driver from the Toshiba European driver page?
If yes, then I recommend contacting the ASP in your country because this could be really an hardware issue.
Furthermore I found you second posting in other thread

and I think more and more that this must be an graphic card issue.

  • Wide variety of new graphical problems (ATI 6470m, Catalyst 11.11)

I'm really starting to get annoyed, and I'm hoping somebody figured out what could cause these problems.
This is my setup: I'm on a HP EliteBook 8560p laptop. I have an ATI 6470m graphical card, and since the release of catalyst-11.11 I'm running fglrx. I use awesome as my wm. I'm running the latest stable arch x86_64.
I'm not sure what exactly, but it seems that an update from a few days ago messed up something. The first thing i noticed was horrible flash fullscreen performance (chromium 15.0.874.121-1, flashplugin 11.1.102.55-1). The video was jerky, had tearing and would freeze the video for a couple of seconds really often, but only when ran in fullscreen. After 2 days of googleing and trying EVERY POSSIBLE solution (tried gnash, lightspark, flash beta, played with every option imaginable in /etc/adobe/mms/cfg etc etc) i tried using xcompmgr and lo and behold, flash started to work again normally in fullscreen.
That would be great if xcompmgr wouldn't choke the rest of my system. For example fgl_glxgears usually reports around 1000 FPS on my system, with xcompmgr it's around 250, I can't play any of my favourite humble bundle games, nothing. So I now have to disable xcompmgr whenever I want to use my system for something else than watching fullscreen flash.
Next thing, tearing in smplayer. I installed mplayer-vaapi since I had a nice GPU, and it worked flawlessly, I ran 1080p videos and my cpu usage was 6%. Now I have tearing and jerky video on a normal avi file, tried using every other combination for my output driver instead of vaapi:gl with no luck whatsoever.
Thanks in advance, if you need any command outputs or log sections, let me know.

  • Graphics Card ATI RadeonHD2600XT Mac Pro 3,1

I work on a MacPro 3,1. When I try to select/highlight some text there is NO highlight but the text is selected. If I try to color-code with labels, they are very washed-out looking. Went into displays (I have 2 27" cinema displays circa 2007) to calibrate and the slides were either black or gray, in other words the controls were useless. I don't have any issues with the monitors blinking or flickering. That's why I tend to think it might be a graphics card issue. Can you shed some light on the subject.  I let techtool 6,x run defrag over the weekend. Everything from TechTools point of view seems ok. Video card or graphics card. Either way, I'd appreciate your knowledge. I ran the hardware tools disk from apple and everything checked out fine. My monitors continue to get more and more bleached-out looking no matter what kind of settings I try to use to try and balance the colors and contrast. Should I be seeking a new graphics card? Is there a way that I can definitely tell what is the problem? I switched monitors around as well. We have some extras laying around from artists that were given iMacs for their new machines. But that did nothing. I am totally stumped. I'm afraid it's really something like a motherboard. I don't want to waist any money replacing a graphics card if it's really the motherboard. Thanks for any and all help. Sincerely, Paul

  • Viewing HD online video at 1080P with graphic card ATI x1600

I seem to notice that when I am viewing videos in HD at 1080 the video tends to get choppy but then it start to work again normally, mean while when I go to my new macbook alum it works perfectly fine there is this because ATI x1600 doesn´t support 1080 HD trailer movies at that res, which it ***** because back then it use to work fine at 1080 is this a leopard driver issues or is it that the card is not powerful enough to handle that res, even though I have 256 of ram just as the same as the nvidia 9400m which has shared 256 of ram.

this is the link where my ATI X1600 graphics card with iMac intel duo core 2.0 gigahertz with 2 gigs of ram and my graphics is 256 of vram
has problem viewing smoothly the HD 1080P trailers, but it doesn´t have any problems viewing with the new macbook with the nvidia 9400m graphic cards is this probably because of an encoding issue or codec issues with these HD trailers.

  • Satellite C660-1H6 graphical problems (ATI 5470) white pixels

    Hello everyone,
I apologize for my English. I'm Italian.
My pc has a very annoying flaw... during normal use of the pixels you see crazy. You see the annoying white pixels.
There are not many but especially for graphics work it's badly.
I already restored the PC once installed the ATI driver from the Toshiba official website but the problem continues.
I also tried the drivers from the amd site but the problem persists.
If you can help the problem becomes much more pronounced after the return of the suspension. In this case, the desktop you see really bad with all the pixels in a mess.
If you need additional information or tell me I can do tests as well.
    Thank you.

    Hi
Im not quite sure if its a internal display issue or maybe a graphic card problem
Therefore you should connect and external monitor in order to check whats exactly wrong
Usually the graphic card is affected if the same pixels would appear on the second monitor.
But if the picture on the external monitor would be OK, then the graphic chip should be ok too and in such case the internal notebook display is faulty
But in both cases it would be expensive to fix the notebook because both parts are not cheap.

  • Which graphics card Ati or Nvidia?

I am looking at PrE 9 but don't have a graphics card, only a chipset.
I'm wondering if any current Nvidia card would work with PrE 9? Are Ati cards good or are they less compatible?
Can you recommend one that isn't too expensive?
    Thanks.

Elements does not offer hardware acceleration, so any card will work that will fit your motherboard
ATI costs less than nVidia (in general) and I would recommend at least 512Meg of memory on the card

  • Mac Pro Graphic Card: ATI Radeon 2 x 5770 or 1 x 5870?

    HELP!
OK, So I've just ordered my new Mac Pro for work and here's the spec:
    MAC PRO
    Two 2.66GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory: 12GB (6X2GB)
    2 x ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB Graphic cards

£8,950.00 (ouch!) being made up now, and delivered next week.
What I need to know is would it be better / faster going for 1 x ATI Radeon HD 5870 1 GB or stick with the 2 x HD 5770's graphc cards?
I popped into The Apple store in Regent Street, London  today and as a Joint Venture Business account holder I got to see someone straight away and no one could answer me the question which would be better or faster?
    1 x ATI Radeon HD 5870
    or the
    2 x ATI Radeon HD 5770
I work with extremely High Resoultion Image and design files, so it's imperitive to get the best.
I very much look forward to your valued opiions.

    Hi Bob,
    From Apple's page: http://www.apple.com/macpro/features/graphics.html
Give your graphics a turbo boost.
For even more graphics horsepower, upgrade to the ATI Radeon HD 5870 with 1GB of GDDR5 memory. An ideal choice for the most demanding applications, this card features a wider memory bus and higher-performance GPU, resulting in up to 70 percent faster performance compared with the ATI Radeon HD 5770.
You need the 5870 it is 70% faster, but more importantly you do not want the Apple monitors for critical photography applications.
I would STRONGLY suggest the NEC wide gamut calibration monitors. I use the 30" PA301WBKSV models, but if budget is constrained, they also make a 27" model for about 40% less.
The difference between a wide gamut and a regular (Apple) monitor is startling. You will save time and money due to the accuracy of the color causing fewer reprints. You literally will see colors you have never seen before on a screen.
At the very least, buy one of the wide gamut for adjustment work, and the lesser monitor for the non-critical pallette purposes.
Also, I would not buy either the RAM or SSDs from Apple, as there are better and cheaper alternatives out there. The 480GB Mercury EXTREME™ Pro 6G SSD are less money, double as fast as Apple and have a 5 year warranty.
I would also recommend more RAM, I use 48GB and never run into pageouts. You can buy the 48.0GB OWC Memory (3 x 16.0GB PC10600 DDR3 ECC 1333MHz 240 Pin) for a little more than you are paying Apple for 12GB, and this RAM is a lifetime warranty.
    Hope this helps

  • Is it possible to add an extra Graphics card: ATI X300 SE PCI express

I have a PowerMac G5 with ATI Radeon 9600 XT(AGP) installed. Recently my friend gave me a ATI X300 SE PCI express card and I am wondering whether I can add this card in the G5 and hook up another monitor to it.
The ATI and Apple websites didn't mention this card is supported, so should I just give up this idea? Thanks.

Another reason you can't use the ATI X300 -- it has Windows PC ROM code. You can only use cards in the Power Mac with OS X compatible firmware.
As of this date, the fastest AGP card you can buy to replace your old one is the Mac Edition of the Radeon X800 XT. It runs $399 from various sources (ATI online store, Apple online store, MacSales.com, SmallDog.com, and Buy.com).
