Thanks. I didn't realize that I can get up to a TB! Wow! What type of TB do I buy, any suggestions of specific ones? Is there G5 specific Tb disks to install? Or just any as long as they have the right measurement size? And what size do I need to remain within?

Can one upgrade the graphic card for Imac (intel based)?
can one upgrade the graphic card in an Imac (intel based)?
While anything is theoretically possible, you would need to find another GPU that is compatible with your specific model iMac, and you would need to modify OS X to use a driver appropriate for whatever you propose to install. Future OS X updates would break it in short order. Not only that, you'd void whatever warranty that remains. It's not worth it.

Use Ink and Slide as graphics tablet for PS & LR
I have tried apps that turn my ipad into a wifi touchpad for my PC, and they work quite well. Coupled with an Adobe Ink pen and an app that loads a section of my PC's display (running PS or LR.. or Illustrator too!) and bam, you've got a pressure sensitive pen display you can edit on directly. Without handing a mortgage payment to Wacom. Any thoughts folks?
I kept asking this too and nobody seems to have tried it. I bought the ink and slide and am in process of getting an ipad. I want to use Duet Display ios app which allows you to turn the ipad into an external screen for your mac as a "poor man's" Cintiq display.

Does anyone use a graphic tablet??
Hi all. Just wondering if anyone out there usesd a graphic tablet? I was searching for one, but the biggest issue is finding one that is going to work with Adobe products and not just Windows. Also the prices on these tablets are high, so I wanted to be well informed before I spend that kind of money. Can anyone recommend one? Hopefully one under $100. Thanks for any answers.
Its definitely not cheap, but I still recommend that you purchase something a bit more expensive. These tools are not toys (but you can play with them though), and if you are planning on using them as a professional designer, they will hopefully be worth it in the end.
My recommendation is that you save up to buy a Wacom Cintiq 24HD / 22HD (the 24HD is much more fun). The quality and workspace is just so worth the price, and you will have a graphic tablet for life.
Check out the review at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93DqptUK5Ro if interested, he brings up a lot of ups and downs about the tablet.
I wish you luck! -

The use of a tablet for perfect outlines
1. I need to create coloring pages that contain the same thickness lines throughout the entire image and was hoping to do this in Photoshop. Someone suggested the use of a graphic tablet for this. From my research there is no mention of enabling the same thickness line but rather it appears to be very sensitive to pressure applied and that the lines tend to thicken and thicken according to hand pressure. Can you clarify if my task can indeed be accomplished with the use of a graphic tablet?
2. If so, what will need to be set up for this to happen?
3. Also, I will need to trace a hand-drawn image via the use of the tablet as well. There was mention of some tablets containing a lift up transparent surface for enabling slipping a paper beneath. Is this a usefull and necessary feature for my application?Yes - you can definitely use a pen tablet and have a constant thickness. You'll be able to adjust your brush settings using the Brush panel once your tablet is all set up. (If you can't see it, go to Window > Brush).
You can switch off pen sensitivity by change the Size Jitter Control dropdown to "Off".
A valuable button for you is the button I've highlighted in blue below. Clicking this button will disable using pen pressure with the brush size - when this is off, the size of your stroke will remain the size of the brush you have selected.
I personally create my linework by simply scanning in an image and "tracing" over it on a new layer in Photoshop. I usually drop down the transparency of the original image to make it easier to see my strokes. I have a very basic, cheap tablet and I find this method very easy. -

Installing a Kanvus Virtuoso T5000 graphics tablet on an iMac
On 26 June 2013 I purchased a Kanvus Virtuoso T5000 graphics tablet from Worldstart.com. Unfortunately, it was some time before I was able to try to install and use the item on my iMac, which is running OS-X Version 10.9.1. I now find that attempting to run the driver installation package gives the following error message: The document “PenTabletSetup.mpkg” could not be opened. This is, of course, very disappointing to me; the product looks extremely interesting to me as an artist.
On the Kanvus website, I find that this item has been discontinued. I hope that a reputable and customer-friendly company would continue at least minimal support for a discontinued product, but the website doesn't especially reflect this — or at any rate, I couldn't find it. I would appreciate any help you could offer for installing the Virtuoso T5000 tablet on my iMac, discontinued product or not. Thank you.Currently no such upgrade program has been announced. There has been some rumbling on the web that it might be upgradeable. But Apple has not officially announced a path. Any such upgrades would have to be done out of warranty unless you saw a program on the Do-It-Yourself pages of Apple's support webpage for the iMac.

I have an intuos 2 graphic tablet, incompatible with imac?
My intuos 2 graphic tablet is far from new, but it's worked fine plugged into my custom pc. Well, been staying with my mom a lot lately and decided to hook it up to her imac only to discover that there's no corresponding socket for this plug in the back. Is there some kind of adaptor that would let me utilize one of the usb spots? Pretty sure she has an imac, though not entirely sure. Looks like google images for imac except about an inch thick at the edges. These are the options in the back.
Hi hatchettwit,
I have used a few serial cable only devices with my iMac using the following adapter (I tried other adapters but they failed miserably), compatible up to Mac OSX 10.7 (going by their website):
http://www.tripplite.com/en/products/model.cfm?txtSeriesID=518&txtModelID=3914
I haven't tried it with a tablet yet, but I don't see why it shouldn't work.
I found the product at Amazon at:
http://www.amazon.com/Keyspan-USA-19HS-Hi-Speed-supports-Sequence/dp/B0000VYJRY/ ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&sr=8-1&keywords=KEYSPAN®+Series++USA-19HS
Wacom USB drivers seem to be available for the intuos2 for up to Mac OSX 10.7 at:
http://www.wacom.eu/index2.asp?pid=29&lang=en&send=1&product=PTZ
You can also use the following page by entering your hardware details:

Looking for note taking software to use with a graphics tablet
Hello folks,
I am trying to find a software that would allow me to interchangably use typing and writing/drawing on a graphics tablet smoothly.
I'm looking for something that would essentially provide a 'blank sheet of lined-paper' where i can quickly type what my professors are saying, as well as easily draw whatever they are drawing. Also, since I am studying engineering, I would need something that I can easily write math symbols and equations so I can use it as scratch paper.
At the same time, I am looking to save trees and money, as well as keep organized and simplicity when it comes to archiving.
I have tried Microsoft Word 2008's notebook view, and this is currently the closest thing to what I want, but it favors mostly the text side of what I want (of course), and isn't very good in the drawing part. It also isn't very smooth when I try to do practice math/physics/engineering problems on it, nor is it very good at drawing molecular structures (O-Chem)... but for the most part, it gets the job done. It is also a headache because when you zoom in a lot to make it easier to write (mind you, I am using a tiny macbook screen..), the title bar also zooms in, and ends up taking half of the screen, making zooming in practically useless. (the title bar is also locked, so even as you scroll down, it stays in the top half.)
I have also tried Adobe Acrobat Professional 7, where I simply made a blank notebook from some image online, and I use it as scratch paper. When it comes to drawing, it is very smooth, but it's a headache sometimes, because after writing something and pausing for a second or two, the pen tool automatically becomes a 'selector' tool, and so if i want to draw over what I previously wrote, it changes to selector and instead of writing over, it drags and drops the object around a bit. The tolerance for that is really high too, and i'd have to bring the pointer about half an inch or so before I can start writing something again. I also haven't given the text a try yet, but it lets me make collapseable text boxes, so that is good for further annotating my equations and drawings, but isn't very useful for a full-lecture class (i.e. biology)
I also don't even want to consider photoshop, because it's basically too powerful, and I don't want my laptop fans going off in-class (its SUPER loud when it happens...) and I need it to last the day.
So just a sum up:
I'm looking for a good note-taking software (for mac) that will allow me to smoothly use my graphics tablet AND be able to type.
MS Word '08 and Adobe Acrobat are close... but aren't quite to what I want exactly...
I have a Wacom Bamboo tablet and an '09 Intel-based MacBook.
Thank you in advance!I have had this same issue and found this program called NoteBook that allows you to type, and draw (write) notes on a variety of paper types, (lined, graphing, engineering, etc.) and it uses the .nb file type that allows you to save multiple "pages" inside one file in a sort-of "notebook" if you will. It works great, but has several minor disadvantages. I can't change the ink color, I can't change the tip thickness (other than the pressure sensitive option with my wacom graphics tablet), and it doesn't allow you to open pdfs or other documents to inscribe upon. All around though it has been wonderful. There are really no good note taking apps out there...

Free and safe graphic apps for my iMac?
I am wanting to download free graphic apps for my IMac. How can I trust the appps that are available?
The suggestions below are dependent on your version of OS X — so click on the menu at top left of your screen and choose About This Mac. ...Under OS X, note the version in the form 10.n.n and then see this ASC tutorial:
Update your product list
Some apps downloaded and installed from the Internet could adversely affect your Mac. Gatekeeper helps protect your Mac from such apps. Read this article to learn about Gatekeeper and its options:
OS X: About Gatekeeper
A more trusted alternative to the Internet is Apple's own store:
Mac App Store: Welcome to App Store
...Enter free photo editor in the App Store's search bar and you'll find many apps such as this:
