Graphical teams for solaris 10

hi, i' ve installed the 8/10 version of solaris , do you know if there's some solaris graphical themes, where to download them and how to install?

Any gnome theme for Gnome version 2.6 should work so a web search should turn up something.

    I installed solaris 8 for Intel on a Dell Laptop. I could only get the 16 color option working.
    What drivers or patches can I use and where can I get them????

    Hi,
    I don't know what video card you have, but I just downloaded this porting kit for solaris8 intel. It work perfectly on my desktop Dell 4100. I think it will also work for the dell laptop. The porting kit is NOT XFree86; it only make use of the xfree86 drivers for solaris.

  • Also I need ndiswrapper support for solaris 10

    I have a linksys -G type router and my computer uses a Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter with SpeedBooster
    which works in Linux like mandrake , debian systems like knoppix and kanotix but their are some buggy like debian also that don't let me change the essid in debian but most linux works with the drivers for my card which are
    04/13/2004 10:01 AM 7,870 BCM43XX.CAT
    03/31/2004 08:44 AM 11,960 BCMWL5.INF
    02/19/2004 11:51 AM 300,928 BCMWL5.SYS
    normally you install the drivers with ndiswrapper -i BCMWL5.INF then use -m to add it too the model loader program in linux which adds wlan0 to ifconfig and iwconfig programs
    which also ndiswrapper requires the source code of the kernel to install the ndiswrapper right , it req. it too compile the drivers, and using the linux gui programs to setup essid and key wep info
    also I use a script in kanotix to use /etc/network/interfaces to load the info on bootup etc.. to get my wireless network card up in linux.
    also how the support for soundblaster sound cards in solaris 10, I have not fingured out if theirs sound yet. freebsd 5.4 seemed to be missing the sound support
    one more thing in bootup of the install program for Solaris 10 my geforce 6800 card detected right but my tv output was all wrong in since the picture , was only on the monitor and tv had stange graphics on it which did not look right I hope nvidia drivers fix this problem , Is their any different command needed for clone mode in Solaris 10 then free86 nd xorg scripts use?

    I got the solutiion from Canon Customer Serivce, temporary until the 10.10 download is released.  It works:
    "You can download the latest software updates at this address:
    http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/professional/professional_cameras/eos_digital_slr_cameras/eos_...
    Please select "OS X Mavericks v10.9" using the drop-down menu on the page.  You have to pick the previous version of Mac OS, because the options for OS X 10.10 Yosemite have not yet been populated.  I sincerely apologize for any confusion this may cause.  After selecting OS X 10.9, please click on the red triangle next to the word "Software" to see the software updates available for your computer.  I would recommend updating all of your software including EOS Utility and Digital Photo Professional."
    I never did find the drop-down menu, but I went into the site map and found what I needed.

  • Memory Leak in 8.1.6.0.1 JDBC/OCI for Solaris

    Hello,
    there is a memory leak in the 8.1.6.0.1 JDBC-OCI driver for solaris.
    The leak causes your jvm to eat up all memory
    if you reuse callable statements
    (calling one statement multiple times with
    different values).
    The thin driver has no such problem. Is
    there any fix available ?

    Ok. The code spans multiple classes and
    most of it comes from a customized version
    of the Enhydra Java Application server.
    I have a class called "StandardDBConnection"
    which caches CallableStatements and is a
    wrapperclass for java.sql.DBConnection. The
    interesting method here is "prepareCall":
    * Get a callable statement given an SQL string. If the statement is
    * cached, return that statement, otherwise prepare and save in the
    * cache.
    * @param sql The SQL statement to be called.
    * @return a new CallableStatement object containing the
    * pre-compiled SQL statement.
    * @exception java.sql.SQLException If a database access error occurs
    * statement.
    public synchronized CallableStatement prepareCall(String sql)
    throws SQLException {
    PreparedStatement preparedStmt;
    logDebug ("Prepare call: " + sql);
    validate();
    preparedStmt = (PreparedStatement)preparedStmtCache.get(sql);
    // Check if the object returned by the cache really is a
    // callable statement. if it is not, someone did call first
    // prepareStatement() and now prepareCall() with the same
    // sql. Silently replace the existing cache entry by a
    // callable statement in this case.
    if (preparedStmt instanceof CallableStatement) {
    preparedStmt.clearParameters();
    else {
    // Need to close the old PreparedStatement in case we have to
    // replace it with a CallableStatement
    if (preparedStmt != null) {
    preparedStmt.close();
    else if (preparedStmtCache.size() >= maxPreparedStmts) {
    String key = (String)preparedStmtCache.keys().nextElement();
    ((PreparedStatement) preparedStmtCache.remove(key)).close();
    preparedStmt = connection.prepareCall(sql);
    preparedStmtCache.put(sql, preparedStmt);
    return (CallableStatement)preparedStmt;
    The statements get closed when I close the
    connection:
    boolean closeStmts = true;
    // Close the prepared statements.
    Enumeration e = preparedStmtCache.keys();
    while (e.hasMoreElements() && closeStmts) {
    String key = (String)e.nextElement();
    try {
    ((PreparedStatement)
    preparedStmtCache.remove(key)).close();
    } catch (SQLException except) {
    // Ignore errors, we maybe handling one.
    closeStmts = false;
    log.write(Logger.NOTICE,
    "DBConnection[" + id + "]: " + url +
    "\nUnable to close statements. Continuing....\n");
    In my classes using database queries I just
    use the prepareCall method of DBConnection
    and do not have to care about anything.
    Works perfectly with the thin driver, but
    as soon as I switch to oci... :-|

  • 64-bit WLS 11G for Solaris?

    I can not locate the 64-bit version of WLS 11G for Solaris. When I go to the download page all I see are 32-bit versions (at least they look like 32-bit version as denoted by the filenames such as wls1031_solaris32.bin).
    I have attempted to go through the e-delivery site but do not want to download a 21 part 11Gig file if it is not the correct one.
    I would appreciate any help at all.

    I am pretty confident that you need the 64 bit JVM for your platform, then you need to use the generic installer, this is based on how it has been done in prior releases.
    So you can find the available JVM's for your platform here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/oracle%20fusion%20middleware%2011gr1%20(11%201%201%201%200)%20certification%20matrix.xls
    In this case that would be Sun JVM 1.6.0_11+
    OR
    JRockit 6 Update 5 R27.6.2+
    Then you should be able to run the generic installer here with that downloaded supported JDK:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/wls_main.html
    I was not able to find anything specific on the documentation pages that described this process in detail, but you can always open a support case to get some assistance. I will check with the documentation team to see if that is going to be documented or already is.
    If you look at the 10gR3 releases, it shows how the generic installer is used, for example:

  • X11 driver development for Solaris 8/9

    but it is only for Solaris x86. I'm interested in building framebuffers that will work on

  • SIS 6326 driver for Solaris Intel platform

    Apparently those who used a SiS 6326 chip on the graphics card
    cannot find a proper driver for Solaris 8 Intel.
    I am having the same problem, is there any way of resolve this problem
    so I can make my graphics card work at 100% or does this mean I have to get a different graphics card which is supported by Solaris 8 Intel.

    Do you know if there is any other old SiS drivers for Sun? Maybe we can make it work good (at least 50% fine) using an old driver...
    PS: If you can, please answer to my email: [email protected]

    Hi Shaun,
    I had email contact with sun technicians and they told me that they keep on improving graphics support but that there's no Nvidia driver available by now. No one could tell me when they would start to support GeForce chips but they said it's a good idea to use XFree86 instead which comes with in integrated nvidia driver. Version 4.0.3 worked almost right out of the box, version 4.1.0 caused problems so I reinstalled 4.0.3 again.
    Hope this helps!

  • A locate command for solaris

    Hi all,
    does anyone know any equivalent to the locate command for Solaris?
    Thanks all
    Here I'm helping others to find it faster than me :-)
    locate for solaris
    locate equivalent for solaris
    how to find files in solaris
    how to find directories in solaris
    find filenames quickly

    This would be a good question for one of the forums on opensolaris.org, you might
    get better answers there. If the file you are looking for was installed via packages,
    then you can use the package database to look it up.
    I think you have to be root (which is lame). Here is an example for
    the file "libxil.so.1"

  • Best graphics card for Mac Pro Early 2008?

    I have a Mac Pro Early 2008 with the default graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 2600), and would like to make an upgrade to a better graphics card that will run games smoothly. I'm not an expert with computers at all, but all I know is I would like to buy a graphics card for around $200-$300 (If it's more expensive then that's ok, but preferrably this price range) that will get me the best performance possible. I play games like Minecraft, Skyrim, and Team Fortress 2. Thank you for any help/recommendations you can provide!
    Also, I wasn't sure which section to post this in, but feel free to move this thread.

    Also, to provide more information (not sure if needed), I have dual monitors and the following specs:

  • Graphics Driver for HP Pavilion dv6t-6000 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC for Win 8.1

    Hello Everyone,
    I currently have an HP Pavilion dv6t-6000 Quad Edition with intel i7 and switchable radeon HD graphics card . I have made the jump from Windows 7 to 8.1 as I am a Current University student studying Information technology and have the need to be updated in terms of technology. I found Win 8.1 to run a bit faster on my PC than Win 7. I have ran into a couple of problems when upgrading to 8.1.
    1.) I've been having an issue finding the correct and stable Video Graphics driver for my Radeon HD 6770M switchable graphics. I tried intalling the original Win 7 driver in the HP driver but does not work properly. I have also tried download a generic driver from the AMD Radeon driver website, but the screen is extremly dim when intalled and is almost impossible to use unless I hold a lamp to the LCD screen. The brightness function keys DO get reconized when pressed, but the brighness will not change no matter how high or low the brightness threshold is at.
    2.) It is a bit out of topic, but I have also been having alot of trouble getting the validity fingerprint sensor to work with Win 8.1.
    I would really appreciate if anyone can help me with these issues or point me in the right direction in order to get them fixed. I am an IT student and have done alot of reasearch on these topics but have been unable to get them to work as intented.
    P.S: I have read alot of fixes about brightness using regedit and edditing some values on specific registry entries. I have found them for many other pc manufacturers, but not for HP. Not an expert on registry stuff, but seems like many people get it fixed by doing so. Just an idea.

    Due to the age of this model, HP is only providing drivers for Windows 7. After searching through the HP Forum, I was unable to find a satisfactory solution to your issue.

    Hi, I would like to be guided through the correct driver installation for the in-built integrated graphics driver for my "Dell Latitude D620" Laptop PC which is running Windows 8.1 Pro (32-bit). By default, Windows 8.1 includes ans installs the
    "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter driver" to maintain compatibility with the OS. I would like to install the original and genuine graphics driver supplied by Dell Inc. (not by Microsoft) on Win 8.1, how can I achieve this? please

    Yes, Dell will have better answer for this issue
    Since this PC quite old, I suggest contact Dell

    I am hoping that someone out there can help me with flashing a couple of win pc graphics cards for use in my 2 QS's.
    I have been trying to use graphicelerator and atiacelerator from the known site, but all I get is a copy error -61, followed by Invalid Flasher! Make sure it's not locked or on a locked volume.
    Now having checked my permissions I seem to have read and write on everything, is there anything I can do to prove this.
    I have tried switching between the two machines, so I am remote logging into the other using VNC that all works ok, is there any permissions that need to be set up within the VNC as I checked the permissions on the desktop and it all seems to show read and write permissions?
    I did try it out on a working graphic card for my machine and still got the same result.
    I am now lost

    Maybe someone here can help.
    In spite of the site name, it is a Mac video card site.
