  • Paperq: a tool for managing a reading queue of academic literature

paperq is a command-line tool for managing a reading queue of academic literature.   It's usage is simple: you add files to the queue and then you run it without arguments to open the next file in the queue. The queue part of the code itself is rather simple but paperq also offers some other nice features:
    Add files (-a option)
    Remove a file (-r option)
Display info on a file. Given a BibTeX file,  print the bibliographic information, otherwise print the file location (-i option)
List all files (or bibliographic information) in the queue (-l option)
Create an archive (tar.gz) of the papers in the queue, prepending the file names with the queue position (-z option)
Operate on any file in the queue, instead of the head, via the -n option
Peek at a file (open it, but don't remove it from the queue) via the -p option
    Print a file (-t option)
    Configurable file-opening command (xdg-open %s, by default)
Documentation is available in the README file or on the website (see below). A man page is also included.
I've been using it myself now that I finally stopped using Mendeley. I find it to be quite handy, so I've packaged it up to be shared with others.

I just uploaded version 1.1.1.  I somehow missed a bug in which the first word of the author list was being chopped off. It's fixed.
marttt wrote:Thanks very much for this! I can finally ditch some of my ugly scripts now. Have you considered adding other bibliographic data formats in the future? (Here is an interesting solution with YAML and Pandoc and, correspondingly, proper UTF-8 support.)
Glad to hear it could be of use to you! Honestly, this also just started out as a quick script but little by little I started adding more handy features.
As for other bibliographic formats, it could be possible. I'm mainly familiar with BibTeX, so I would need to see how the other formats look.
In all honesty, the bibliographic info printing could be greatly expanded: only journal articles are supported at the moment, and mathematical expressions in the titles aren't yet supported (i.e. greek characters).  It might be more efficient in the long run to write a dedicated biblio parsing program that loads some pre-written BibTeX-parsing library rather than all the crazy sed work that's going on in there right now. If that's the case, then it's just a  matter of loading some library for a different biblio file format in order to support it.

  • Tool for managing tickets from client

    hi,
My Client has implemented SAP in June 2013.And soon after go live they have outsourced 100% work to some agency.
Now problem is that that agency dont have any tool to manage the requests which they are getting from the cleint to process in SAP.
All the Accounts payable ,Gl enteries,PO,GR,MIRO all these kind of transactions that outourced agency is doing. They are getting emails in oulook from the client saying  "please process PO" with attached details, likewise for all other processes.
Using outlook is littele wierd because its big team of 50 people. If 50 people will use one oulook then that will hamer the efficiency and effect SLA's.
Can anybody suggest some local tool to be used by this agency so that they perform in a better way.
Solution Manager and HPQC are not perfect fir for this kind of scenario.
    Awaiting for the replies.

But ive changed it now and restarted my computer, i have even tried to exclude the lines about LD_LIBRARY_PATH and CLASSPATH (i guess the first errors i posted refer to these paths).
I followed a guide with my friend and his system is fine without the errors, mine isnt. But maybe you know more about the errors i get when starting graphic tools like dbca and netca.

Software uses a "lock" to guard a data structure against concurrent
    modifications, leading to corruption.
A "backtrace" is the trail of how the program reached this point in the code --
sort of like a trail of cookie crumbs in a maze.
Looks like the X-Org stuff Fedora 10 uses improved things so much that legacy
apps have started breaking. I checked the source code for the libxcb RPM. It
    appears that:
    $ export LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK=1
is supposed to avoid crashing but will still report this backtrace. Ultimately,
the application will need to be fixed for libxcb-1.1.91 but until this RPM
version gets used in a supported Oracle environment, a fix may not happen soon.
So, if it ain't crashing then it works :)

  • GUI based tool to manage Dimensions in Oracle 8i

    Hi guys check this out,
Exalt Systems(www.exaltsystems.com) has come up with a tool, Dimension Manager, to manage Oracle relational database Dimensions in Oracle RDBMS 8i and higher. This tool can be used to browse dimensions, create new nodes, move/copy nodes by simple drag-and-drop operations in dimension within same schema and in different schemas.
This is really cool. You can get the demo copy by mailing to [email protected]

  • Can't download graphics tools for Xcode

I've just downloaded Xcode 4.6.1 in hopes of getting Quartz Composer, which I've learned is available in a graphics tools download from the Developer website.  Unfortunately when I look through the downloads available, there is no graphics tools options.  Even when I'm in Xcode and click on "more developer tools", the developer downloads comes up blank.  Can anyone help me figure out how to get it?  Please help, I need the program for a school project.  Thank you!

    Hi all,
I can see a list of packages, totally 108, in the page https://developer.apple.com/downloads. However, when I tried to search for 'Graphics Tools', 'Quartz', etc., nil was returned.
I'm using XCode 4.6.1 and seeking to install Quartz Debugger for verifying the High DPI support of the web application we're developing.
According to p.19 of the release note of XCode 4.6.1 (https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/developertools/Conceptual/ WhatsNewXcode/WhatsNewXcode.pdf) the Graphics Tools shall be availabe from developer.apple.com/downloads. Unfortunately, just can't find them after hours of searching.
    Any advice is much appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • In-Tools Preference Manager

The In-Tools Preference Manager allows you to set preferences across multiple machines and get back up and running after you "trash preferences".  It's a great tool!
I am a photographer using ID for wedding albums.  I help a lot of other photographers set up preferences.  So, I am trying to customize a default file.  I am stuck on the preference that sets Fill Frame Proportionally using Center Reference Point.  I would be so grateful if someone could show me the code for this one.  I've searched up and down the default settings file and the ID object model information.  I found some verbiage but can't implement it.
This is how you do it manually:
Object > Fitting > Frame Fitting Options:
      1.  Select center reference point
      2.  Fitting on Empty Frame > Fitting > Fill Frame Proportionally
Here is the custom file I have created so far:  Album Design
Oh...one more thing...there seems to be a handful of options for default font.  Any idea how to set Helvetica as the default font?
Thanks for any help.  And, if you are not familiar with the script you should download it and give it a try.  It's a great tool.

    Hi Braxton,
I'm glad you like the script!
There's no need to mess with the xml files (unless you like messing with xml).
The script will save any preferences that you set -- provided it's one of the preferences that it deals with.
There's a distinction between preferences and presets in the DOM. The latter is much more difficult to preserve, and the Preference Manager script does not save presets (including the ones for styles and text defaults).
Tackling presets has been on my "to do" list since I created the script, but never quite got down low enough on the list to actually get to it...
Application and document Frame Fitting Options are actually probably a preference, but Preference Manager doesn't currently handle that. I don't remember why. Possibly it was an oversight. I'll try to look at it when I have some time...
Here' my list of what to look at adding:
    displaySettings
    documentPresets
    flattenerPresets
    PDFExportPresets
    PrinterPresets
    characterStyles
    paragraphStyles
    objectStyles
    cellStyles
    tableStyles
    saved search and replaces
    Contents of fonts folder?
    Scripts?
    Workspaces
    Keyboard shortcuts
    Print presets
    Custom dictionary?
Either way, if you come across preferences which are not preserved, please let me know!

  • Download tools to manage this host from

    Hi All,
Recently we got a new SAP Discovery V4 from HP. While starting the server and after login we are getting an error like below,
Download tools to manage this host from:
    http://XX.XXX.XX.XX  (STATIC)
From here, no where its going further. I guess it has to do with ESXi.
Could some one please help me here.
    Best Regards,
    Prasad.

    Hi Prasad,
When you say "http://XX.XXX.XX.XX",  do you mean the IP address of your ESXi server? If yes then this is correct, you would first need to install the VMware VSphere client to be able to start the Linux and Windows server.
You need to follow the Discovery system V4 quick guide to get started with the system. The V4 quick guide is available here: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/discoverysystem-guide
If you continue to experience problems, please open a OSS support message with the component CA-SOA-DS.

I have installed "hp protect tool kit security manager" But I face a problem that when I shut down my system it goes to that point where the windows logon. it does not completely shut down. and when I try to uninstall it demand for pasword, but I didn't gave any password. and when i enter the windows password it gives invalid password error.
kindly give me some. I don't want to refresh windows.

    Hi @Aqeel_Rafique ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your Elitebook and issues with HP ProtectTools Security Manager password. The password could be the one that you use to log onto your Notebook or entered at the BIOS.
You could follow these steps, even though, I don't recommend this as it is Security Tools.
Step 1:Click Start, then "All Programs." Select "HP Protect Tools Security Manager" from the list of programs.
Step 2:Click "Settings." Click the box to the left of the menu. The green check in the box should disappear, which means that the application is disabled.
Step 3:Close the window and restart the computer. Then try to uninstall the software
    Provided by 3rd Party site.
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial Forums.

  • WIN10 issues with HP Protect Tools Security Manager

WIN10 won`t install on PC´s with  HP Protect Tools Security Manager (WIN7), as it is incompatible with WIN10 install. program reuires that HP Protect Tools will be uninstalled before proceeding with installation of WIN10. However, this seems to be quite impossible. Just disabling the program with the stemps described earlier does not work. Has anyone info how to UNINSTALL completely the HP Protect Tools Security Manager? I guess HP will notice this issue soon because there are many HP PC owners with WIN7 (probably even WIN8) that are unable to install WIN10,  and  make steps to create a new with WIN10  compatible version  of the Tools Sec. manager, but it will probably take some time.

Try update your system with HP SoftPaq Download Manager and reinstall Win10.The problem was my old version of HPPTSM. With 8.3.3.... works. My HP 6470b, Win7 64.
