Graphics Acceleration in SL Server.

This may seem silly or noobish so thanks for bearing with me. I am test driving SL Server on a Mac Pro. Eventually I would like to use SLS as a File, VPN, and Internet Gateway <-and roles that support that I.E. firewall or NAT. Only i still like to use it as a personal computer, and I have noticed that running Graphic intensive apps i.e. games or windows VMs struggle in the SLS environment. Is SLS limited in its graphics ability?

This is entirely possible, and supported by the Server Admin user interface for the mail server.
Start with the [Mac OS X Server Mail Services Administration Manual|http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/MailService_Adminv10.6.pdf], page 73
Quoth the Book Of Mail:
A Mail Service Virtual Host
Virtual hosting is a method you can use to host more than one domain name on the same
computer and IP address, with overlapping mail user names.
For example, a mail server can receive mail transfer requests for two domains,
mail.example1.com and mail.example2.com, both of which resolve to the same IP
address. For mail.example1.com, the server delivers mail to “[email protected]
to a user mailbox for “bob,” while it also delivers mail to “[email protected]” to
a different user mailbox. Virtual hosts are essentially the converse of local host aliases.
One subtlety here is that the domains sharing the same mail server and all co-resident on the IP address will all tend to have the same public host name listed as their MX (mail exchange) server of record in the public DNS. This so that forward and reverse DNS and MX server all line up for the mail server for all the domains involved.

  • Hardware Graphics Acceleration

As many users have noticed, there’s a new feature which is introduced in Office 2013 called "Hardware Graphics Acceleration", which sometimes is also called as "GPU rendering". The purpose of course is to improve performance.
As stated in the System Requirements for Office 2013, Graphics hardware acceleration requires a DirectX10 graphics card and a 1024 x 576 or higher resolution monitor.
A graphics processor helps increase the performance of certain features, such as drawing tables in Excel 2013 or transitions, animations, and video integration in PowerPoint 2013. Use of a graphics processor with Office 2013 requires a Microsoft DirectX
10-compliant graphics processor that has 64 MB of video memory. These processors were widely available in 2007. Most computers that are available today include a graphics processor that meets or exceeds this standard. But, if you or your users do not have
a graphics processor, you can still run Office 2013.
The option of hardware graphics acceleration can be found in any Office applications from
    FILE -> Options -> Advanced ->
Display -> Disable hardware graphics acceleration:
This setting can be controlled by the following registry key:
Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure
that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry,

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Graphics
    DWORD: DisableHardwareAcceleration
Value: 1 to disable, 0 to enable
Administrators can deploy this setting using Group Policy as well. Follow the steps below:
Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these
problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
    1. Add the following files to your domain controller: Office15.admx and
Office15.adml files to your domain controller and then
    2. In the Local Group Policy Editor, select the Miscellaneous node of the
Microsoft Office 2013 tree. This setting is shown in the following figure.
For more information about how to use .admx and .adml files for Group Policy administration, go to the following Microsoft TechNet website:
How to manage Group Policy ADMX files
Please note the change is global: Changing this option in a single Office program also applies to other remaining Office programs. So you don't need to follow these steps for all Office programs one by one. If you want to just disable animations in Word
but leave them on in Outlook, no we can’t.
When do we need to disable Hardware Graphics Acceleration?
I’ve seen in some cases users complain that Office Applications are laggy and slow, sometimes even hang/freeze. They have tried many things but couldn’t figure out the root. Actually, the animation sometimes can slow the performance down, once they disable
the Hardware Graphics Acceleration, the problem is gone.
There are also issues like blurred text/font, cursor hangs randomly in Office applications, we can disable this simple option to see if this fixes the problem.
Please note, the Hardware Graphics Acceleration option is not the only option that may cause issues. For example, an user needs to turn off the animation to improve the performance of Excel, but it doesn’t have any effects after disabling Hardware Graphics
Acceleration. Now let’s check this Windows setting:
On the Desktop, right click on This PC(or Computer) icon, select
Properties, then Advanced system settings on the left side, under
Advanced tab, click on the Settings button for
    Performance.
    Now we see this:
Uncheck the box for Animate controls and elements inside windows, click
    OK button.
Now the problem should be gone.
    Another case:
If you have blurred text/font issue in Word, you may consider to disable Hardware Graphics Acceleration. If this doesn’t help, what to do next?
Please go to FILE tab -> Options ->
Advanced -> Under Disable hardware graphics acceleration, there’s a checkbox for
Use Subpixel positioning to smooth fonts on screen, uncheck it and click
OK. The blurred text/font should be gone.
    Summary
In this article I introduced how to configure Hardware Graphics Acceleration from applications, the registry and Group Policy. There are also some issues it may cause and what we should do to resolve them. If you have any ideas about this topic or any other
comment, please feel free to post in the forum, thank you.

  • Acrobat Reader 9 Crashes PC When Opening 2 Documents Simultaneously (2D Graphics Acceleration Relate

    Hey all,
Weird issue. I noticed my Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 crashes when opening two PDF's simultaneously. The first one opens just fine. The second one, a new window opens, but there's only black inside the 2nd Reader window. It finally (after way too long) begins to show the document, and then I get a blue screen of death with a fault in nvlddmkm.sys, the nVidia display driver for my video card. It says it was unable to reset the display drivers, dumps the memory, and reboots. One interesting note is that if I close the "black" window before it blue screens, I can continue using the computer with no crash. It's only if I give it time to try to display.
I already found the temporary fix for this, which is disabling 2D Graphics Acceleration in the Acrobat Reader (Edit -> Preferences -> Page Setup). Fortunately I'm on a fast computer, so this doesn't affect performance much, but it still obviously isn't ideal, and I'd like to see the problem resolved.
I don't experience this problem with any other programs at the moment, so I'm thinking it's an issue with Adobe's product or possibly the nVidia drivers, but thought I should mention it and see if anyone has any other possible fixes where 2D Graphics Acceleration can remain enabled.
    Thanks all!

I am having the exact same issue... it's so frustrating! Does anyone have a solution to this?
Running CS4 on a Core i7 workstation w/ Win 7 64-bit, latest BIOS and video card drivers (ATI Radeon 4890). Acrobat is version 9.3 with all updates. It freezes for 30 seconds just as described, every single time you launch it.

  • Intel Graphics Accelerator Display Driver for Windows 10 - L505-S5984

Mozilla Firefox will not stay, or open up, on my computer, AFTER the Windows 10 upgrade.  An error message, constantly, appears, after my computer screen keep blinking to a black screen, before a BLANK box stay on the black screen ... and FREEZES everything.  The computer curser, also, disappears.  Obviously, this driver was not updated dring the upgrading. "Display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver for Windows 7(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered."  Is there a fix, or Windows 10 driver update, for this?

MissBliss, I just ended up un-installing it, and re-installing it, again; which I will tell you is difficult to get done.  It kept telling me that I already have the most recent one ... where it was installed/updated when my computer was updated to Windows 10.  I, actually, played around with it, for like 2 days, trying to make it happen.  Anyway, only some things seems to be working, now.  I still can't try to open Firefox; without that black/blue screen flashing, and, then, finally, freezing ... my computer crashing.  I, finally, just un-installed Mozilla Firefox on my computer that this keeps happening on.  I still want to return to Windows Home Premium; everything was working so beautifully, when I had it.  Personally, I wished that I have never reserved the Windows 10 app.  They made it sound so great, when promoting it.  I, now, understand that saying 'BEWARE of fox in sheep clothing,' more.  There seems to be NO help from Microsoft; and no willingness to, even, help/solve, by Microsoft.  I will admit that two of my computers that were upgraded seems to be doing okay ... although, the Windows 10 upgrade, did, make ALL but one printer, connected to them, AND the one that I am having problems with, inoperable.  My computers do not, even, recognize them, or their drivers, as being installed.  Everything as working just fine, before Windows 10 came along.  So, this makes me angry, also.  Good Luck with finding/getting an answer, THAT WORKS!  I hope that you have more success, than I did.  Windows 10 is becoming more and more of a disappointment.

  • Graphic accelerator request

Dear, please i want to install bluestacks software on my HPG60-441US (initially it comes with windows vista but i now  upgrade it to windows8) to run my android application on it. When i try, the bluestacks software could not be installed. I asked but the told me i should install a graphic accelerator. please i need url address to download a recent graphic accelerator for my system. thanks

    Hi:
It sounds to me like the Intel graphics driver didn't install on windows 8, so graphics acceleration is disabled.
If you installed W8 64 bit see if this works.
Download and run the W7 64 bit graphics driver from your notebook's support page.
If it installs the graphics driver automatically, you should be good to go.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-75460-2&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
If you get an error (such as incompatible operating system) when you run the driver, do the following...
Go to the device manager and click to expand the display adapters category.
If the graphics driver is not installed, you will see a device labeled Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.
Click on that, and then click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the driver.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp44939.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.
If it does, you should now have graphics acceleration and be able to install your other software.

  • 9500 Graphics Accelerator?

    Hi all,
After installing the 9600 Graphics Accelerator on my 9600 and getting lovely smooth scrolling etc. I need to do the same for my 9500. Are the files on the OS9 CD or do I need to download a 9500 specific driver? Or will the 9600 driver do the job?
    Many thanks!!

I'd recommend pulling the TwinTurbo card, because it's probably a retail Mac version of their card, and not the card that they manufactured for Apple as OEM equipment. Some of their retail cards had a problem related to "Sync-on-Green," which gave the entire screen a green tint. Their driver package provided a software workaround ("Gamma Loader" program), that needed to be placed in the Startup Items folder, which corrected the greenish tint. What you've described are green artifacts, which are an entirely different problem. You can always try removing the TwinTurbo card and use a soft, white eraser to gently clean the gold-plated contacts along both edges of the card, until they have a bright gold appearance. Sometimes, oxidization on the PCI card's contacts can cause strange quirks. Reinstall the card and see if the green artifacts are no longer a problem.
Your 9500 should have no problems booting with either a Rage 128 or a Radeon card installed. A properly-flashed Radeon card is reprogrammed to be a Mac card, and is recognized as such by the system, so that the appropriate drivers included on any OS installer disk are loaded. The flashed Radeon shouldn't require a special/hacked version of the Mac ATI drivers to function properly. Most of my Radeon cards are ATI retail/boxed products that I flashed myself, and I've had no compatibility problems using the standard ATI drivers. The ATI Rage 128 card with 16 MBs of VRAM is also a nice card, and certainly more than enough for everyday use. You can install a pair of either cards, for an extended desktop or desktop mirroring. A Radeon card may draw a little more power from the PCI bus, than the ATI Rage 128 will.

  • Export Graphic w/Transparency, CS6 Server, Fail

I have a script that loops through all graphics inside an adobe indesign document. The script senses what type of graphic file it is (JPEG, TIFF, EPS, PSD, etc), and, based on some simple rules, the graphic will get exported as either a JPEG, or a PNG.
For source graphics that have the POTENTIAL to have transparent pixels in them (TIFF, EPS, et al), the export format is set to PNG. For all others, the export format is set to JPEG.
This has been running quite well for some time now, until I switched over a development server to CS6. It was just discovered, this morning, that graphics w/transparent pixies get exported as a PNG, but, where my transparency USED TO BE, I now see a big ugly piece of white. It's terrible.
I've scoured the documentation looking for an answer. Suprisingly, I see a new batch of PNGExportPreferences that I didn't have available to me in CS5.5, but, none of these seems to do the trick. The one that stands out to me is app.pngExportPreference.transparentBackground = true. The documentation for this property is a bit ambiguous in my particular use-case, and, sadly, doesn't seem to do the trick. I'm still seeing a big ol' white blob where I would expect to see transparency.
The basic syntax for what I'm doing is:
    d.allGraphics.each(function(graphic){
      graphic.exportFile(ExportFormat.PNG_FORMAT, "graphic.png");
    Ideas?

NEVERMIND. I am an idiot. The script is running fine. the .transparentBackground setting IS the trick. I just completely FAILED to remember, until now, that MS's paint program cannot handle transparency. I was viewing the exported graphic in Paint. SUCH an idiot.

  • Audio, Video & Graphic Elements on FC Server...

Can Audio & Graphic Elements also be cataloged within FC Server? We have an Audio/Video/Graphics Department. I'd love for all users to use the FC Server Client to access elements they need. Will our audio users need FC? I'm guessing that no they just need the client, correct?
    Thanks!

    Yes.

  • Accelerator http suppress-server-encoding enabled?

Why would WAAS allow compression for content that rarely changes?  Wouldn't it make more sense to suppress-compression for that content, take advantage of DRE and WAAS ability to cache that content for branch site browsers to consume?  Is there a reason to allow server compression for static content?
    Taken from 4.2.1 release notes
Step 11 Check the Suppress server compression check box to configure the WAE to suppress server compression between the client and the server. The default setting is unchecked.
By checking this box, you are telling the WAE to remove the Accept-Encoding value from HTTP request headers, preventing the web server from compressing HTTP data that it sends to the client. This allows the WAE to apply its own compression to the HTTP data, typically resulting in much better compression than the web server for most files. For some file types that rarely change, such as .css and .js files, this setting is ignored and web server compression is allowed.

    Hi ,
HTTP Metadata Cache feature will able to optimize only the local HTTP 301 , HTTP 401 and HTTP 304 request.
You  can use the HTTP professional software to indentify whether the  accessed website has HTTP header request of ( 301,401 and 304) ,  response time , Request sent, request received and local cache response  time.
If you are accessing the HTTPS website then should also enable HTTPS metadata cache feature.
You should clear your browser temporary files whenever you testing this so that you will able to get a exact output.
I hope below mentioned will give you a better idea.

  • CS4 Graphics accelerator works, but many filters don't work

    I'm using CS4 with a Dell XPS 1710 notebook.
In preferences, performance, I set "enable OpenGL Drawing". It listed my graphics card "Nvidia Corporation GEForce 7900 GTX/PCI/SSE2"
I tried the rotation and zooming features and they worked well.
As soon as I tried to apply a filter, such as 'filter gallery' or liquify, no preview image shows in the filter screen. It is just white. The controls work, showing I am zooming in, but no image"

  • AMD graphics acceleration questions

    Hi!
I'm planing to buy of new laptop. I found some interesting options, but with AMD graphics. I want to stuck with CS6, and I want to know, is there any way to use AMD graphics for Mercury Playback Engine? I hope there's a way...
If I will have to move to CC (that's what I really don't want to do, but...) how can I understand will PP and AE support it or not?
The cards are AMD Radeon HD 7670M and AMD Radeon HD 8670M

I have been looking in to this myself and the conventional knowledge is NVIDIA however on delving a little deeper I have found that is not the case. Admittedly when the Mecury Playback Engine (MPE) was first developed it only supported CUDA which is ofcourse NVIDIA technology however, over the past two years AMD have been working closely with Adobe to get their technology working with Adobe products: And apparently now the MPE supports OpenCL and OpenGL:  http://sites.amd.com/us/business/software-partners/adobe/Pages/adobe-solutions.aspx the opensource answer to CUDA that the whole industry is moving towards.
Finally I looked at some side by side comparisons of the 780Ti and the R9 290X http://www.anandtech.com/show/7492/the-geforce-gtx-780-ti-review/14 and, OK it is in Sony Vegas but, the video render times are significantly faster! Infact the R9 is faster in most catagories. At the moment CUDA support is more mature but I think the future is with OpenCL and OpenGL which is why I plumped for the cheaper R9 290X.

  • Softvare emulation of 3D graphic acceleration

Hi, I´ve just migrated from suse to the arch and this distro is AVESOME! simple & fast - i really like it.
i managed to get everything i vanted working using wiki and this forum, but i didn´t find solutins for two issues
fistly: is there any kind of softvare emulation of 3d video support? I have acer tm230 laptop, i810 video card with shared memory (no 3d). in suse, there was some beta stuff providing this, but i dont really know anything about that (it was just a checkbox in YaST:).
secondly: i have installed pure-ftpd. i have it in daemon section in rc.conf and it´s working (wisible from outside) althought my /etc/hosts.allow is
    sshd: 195.113.32.0/255.255.252.0, 195.113.16.0/255.255.240.0
    and my /etc/hosts.deny is
    ALL: ALL: DENY
    isn´t it weird?
well, i´ve got yet another question. due to some silly reasons, my lan uses 802.1x authentification. so, during instalation of arch, i installed from cd just base + wpa_supplicant, hoping, i´d install rest from ftp. and then i found, that wpa_supplicant included in  instalation cd is compiled without driver ´wired´, that i need to use. so i´d like to suggest, to include wpa compiled with all driwers posible. some users might find it usefull during ftp installation, but i don´t know, where should i sussest it.
    thanx for help

oh i see  , sorry, stupid question. it`s working fine.
    thanks for the help.
