Graphics Card Crashes When I Open Final Cut X
Never happend before, i started a project for a timelapse video and loaded about 3000 photos into final cut, loaded them to the timeline and 10 seconds later my whole computer restarted. I tryed opening again, right when my project opens, my computer restarts again.
I have the imac 27" mid 2011, everything updated, i have 16gb ram with about 600gb free harddrive space.
I know its my graphics card causing the problem for sure knowing by using Pro Maintenance tools. Im using Final Cut X (10.0.6).
What do i do, im stressting out!!!!!
If you're certain it is the graphic card then you're only recourse is to have it repaired by Apple or an Authorized shop.
If you're near an Apple Store then that wil be the quickest solution.

when i open final cut pro x when it starts loding the projects it shows the spining beach ball and is stuck wat can i do?
Possible corrupted project or media fies. Here's what I'd suggest.
First trash preferences. If that doesn't work…
Move your Final Cut Projects folder into a folder named Hidden Folder. See if FCP then launches. If it doesn't hide your Final Cut Events folder. Once FCP launches successfuly, create a test event and project.
To track down the problem, successively move load events and projects from hideen to their proper location and open FCP. When and if you get the crash you have hopefully located the problem.
The easiest way to do this is to purchace Event Manager X ($5).
Good luck.

when i opened final cut pro x, everything was gone.
so this means that all my work isn't completely gone?
Your work will still be there, you just have to go through Updating your older pre 10.1. stuff to the new Library model way of doing things.
Follow Tom's suggestions to the letter and things should go smoothly.

Electrical clicking noise through speakers when I open Final Cut ???
Hi,
When I open Final Cut, as its opening I hear electrical clicking noises coming through my speakers.
Also when I open Log and Capture I hear several electrical clicking noises.
This just started within the past few months, I don't know if Leopard had anything to do with it?
Does anybody have any suggestions?
ThanksWhen FCP launches, it checks out the pathways for the audio and video... like if you've set it to be connected to a DV camera, it looks for it during boot up. If it doesn't find it, it opens a window warning you it's not there.
Just open the apple menu's preferences, and change the setting somehow in the audio control panel there. that will reset it.
The other thing you might try is resetting the PMU or SMU on your machine. These guys reset the power management system wide. Might help, and won't hurt. You need to search the Support area's front page here on "PMU" or SMU to find out how to do this for your particular machine. It's different from one mac to the next... but it's easy to do.

(bootcamp) graphics card crash when playing games
Firstly apologies if I've put this in the wrong section of the forum... this is the most applicable I could find.
Having tried to enquire at the good folks of AMD, they told me I needed to see apple. Finding a support email is nigh on impossile - so either that or advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated!
I have a boot camp partition on a mid 2011 macbook pro - my graphics card is Radeon HD 6750M.
I have recently been experiencing graphics card crashes when playing games.
There is no boot camp update available, so I am forced to update the driver manually. Trying to use the automated detection/installation tool on the ATI site resulted in the error "your computer doesn't have a proper graphics adapter"
When I located and downloaded the mac bootcamp drivers from the ATI site site, and I tried to install these it was unable to detect my existing microsoft C++ distributable or install its own - so the installation failed.
All advice welcome!yeah - it *might* have fixed my issue - or at least it hasn't crashed yet... jynxed it now ofcourse ;p I have acouple of questions though...
Why did this just start happening - I've played other games and this game before without these crashing issues?
I'm worried about configuring this fan thing correctly - lots of 'if your hardware gets damages it's not my problem' warnings on the software site. I know there's only 4 options - how do I ensure I select the right one? ie I thought I had a unibody macbook pro but it can't find the second GPU? -
Graphics card upgrade to go to Final Cut Pro X
I have a ATI Radeon HD 2600 graphics card mac pro 10.5.8
what is the recommended card to go to Final Cut Pro X?
Should I install myself? There are multiple threads every day now about FCP-X
And there is a list of unsupported cards.
10.6.7+ is one item, ATI 5770 would be the other.

Hi Adobe,
I'm experiencing regular graphics card crashes when viewing Molehill demos using the latest FP release 11.0.1.3d.
For instance, these demos cause my entire screen to go black for 5 seconds and crash my whole browser:
http://www.ringo.nl/projects/away3d/broomstick/LoaderOBJTest.html
http://blam3d.com/demos/f16uvtest.html
Any also, I can't watch any videos on Vimeo and half the time, youTube videos won't play for me.
I've lodged bugs for these issues in Jira:
https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-7191
https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-7192
But I'd like to know from Adobe, will these crashes go away when FP11 is released? There are so many different PC/Graphics Card combinations, will Adobe be able to ensure that Molehill applications won't cause crashes?
My team has invested a lot of time in a big app that uses Molehill, but we are getting very nervous seeing so many crashes - please re-assure me and my team that FP11 Molehill will be rock solid at the time of release!obviously its NOT fine, and stability in a handful of other applications means jack.
different applications apply different load in different manners to the hardware.
There is an evident history of improperly configured hardware or actual hardware combinations causing problems in D3D but not in OpenGL, or in OpenGL but not in D3D.
such is the case with a VIA KT600 and an nvidia GFX card at AGP 8x causing graphical corruption and crashes in D3D that never occured in opengl, or an overclocked i7 that absolutely only ever hung in opengl apps but not in direct3d apps(voltage insufficient).
The sooner people stop blinding themselves to the realities of just how much a precise configuration matters, the sooner they'll fix their own problems.
Seriously, if i can deploy flash across a wide assortment of hardware configurations and not get crashes or blackscreens, then its definitely saying about the configurations of the denialists who claim their system is fine. -
I just updated my RAM (replaced the two 2 gig cards with two Corsair 8 gig cards) and I keep getting a crash report. I have a 21.5 Inch mid 2010 imac. I also am experiencing slow load times with Photoshop and when I try to open Final Cut it says that quartz extreme is not compatible and that I have no VRAM even though I do.
Here is the crash report:

The recommendation on here, mostly, is to only buy RAM from macsales.com or crucial.com as they guarantee their modules will work and offer a no quibble lifetime guarantee.
I'd put the original RAM back in, return the Corsair chips for a refund and re-order from one of those two companies.

I have recently update my Final Cut Pro X to Final Cut Pro X 10.1. I downloaded the update from the app store. Now every time I open Final Cut it crashes almost instantly. What can I do?- I really need help!
It sounds as though you have a corrupt project - or possibly a file within an event that is causing the application to crash.
Quit FCP X, then move your projects and events (if you have any) to new folders so that FCP X doesn't find them, then relaunch the application. If it launches OK, there's a very good chance one of your projects or events is causing the problem.
Quit the app again, then move one event or project at a time back to the original folder and launch FCP X again - keep going until you find the cause.

Having trouble opening Final Cut on my Mac and opens only when in the Administrator account and not when in Guest account. anyone know why please? Thanks
Yes... I can confirm this too...
If I load up my clips with no audio into the timeline, stuttering is there immediately.
Then I add an audio track to the timeline and the stutter vanishes.
Then, if I turn down the volume of the audio to zereo or - 46 dB. The stuttering reappears.
If, however, I place the cursor (Skimmer) in a clip prior to hitting play, the stutter vanishes yet again...
I adore FCPx and after getting to know it, there really is NO going back for me. This app is more than a decade ahead of its time and it's new. And still in a sort of beta-phase. At least that is what I tell myself so that I can deal with it ;-)
At least now we know ONE reason why stuttering appears and by identifying the problem, we can solve it ! -
Can't open Final Cut Pro after the migration
I bought a new iMac (21.5 inch: 3.2 GHz) and migrated all the files from my old iMac, which I brought in 2006 or so. When I tried to open Final Cut Pro (Version 5.0.4), an error message shows up and says "Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly" and I can't even open the application. Here are the details. Can anyone help me fix this problem? Thanks.

Never migrate a pro app.
In your case the underlying issue is v5 is not compatible with intel processors
The solution is to purchase the upgrade to the current version, erase your hard drive and install the system and pro apps fresh from the disks

Can anyone help me resolve a problem with opening Final Cut. I get the message "The application Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly". I've tried using the FCP Rescue utility as well as tried to reinstall the software (though setup didn't give me an option to reinstall).
Is there a way I can uninstall the software without losing any files and reinstalling from scratch. Any suggestion would be helpful.
Thanks,
CommaletaMichaelG's question of what shows up on the splash is important... maybe it's trying to load an AE plugin that isn't compatible -- find that one and remove it from the plugin folder...
however -- not sure this helps YOU at THIS time but...
Here's what I like to do (short of a full reinstall) when FCP crashes:
When FCP Quits...
Do these in order and you might not have to do them all:
1) Trash Preferences FCPRescue - http://fcprescue.andersholck.com/
2) Repair Permissions - DiskUtility
3) Type this in your terminal window (without the quotes) and hit enter: "sudo update_prebinding -root / -force"
4) Unplug everything and wait
5) Create New User
Good luck,

Can't open Final Cut Pro anymore. HELP!!!
I can't open my Final Cut Pro. When I click to open it, a message comes up saying, "Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly." It tells me to click reopen to open the application, but every time I click reopen, the same message screen comes back. I can't open Final Cut. I need help.
I am having same exact problem.
It was working fine for years, and all of a sudden, after a Mac Os X Software Update it will NOT open, ( I think this may have caused the problem, however I am not sure)

Safari crashes when I open random pages
So apparently many people are having this problem in different forms or types but my safari browser will crash when I open random pages of the internet. Everything goes smoothly about 90% of the time and then the rest pages will close, specifically ones that have videos on them sometimes. Help!

If that didn't help, try deleting the Cacle.db file.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try a new tab.
If that didn't help, see if you can troubleshoot extensions before Safari crashes.
Go to the menu bar, click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. If there are any installed, swtich to OFF, quit and relaunch Safari and try opening a new tab. If that helped, uninstall one extension at time, quit and relaunch Safari until you find the one tha'ts causing Safari to crash.
If it's not an extension issue, might be a third party plugin...
Back to Safari > Preferences > Security
Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins
Quit and relaunch Safari, try a new tab. If that helped, follow the instructions for troubleshooting plug-ins here. -
I can't open Final Cut because of huge project
Hey everyone,
I'm working on a timelapse project in 10.0.9 on my MacPro5,1 with OSX 10.9 (13A603). I have the OS, final cut and the project and event files running on a 240 solid state SATA drive within the tower. AND lastly I have 16gb of RAM
So basically my problem is that this timelapse project is about 33gb large and when opening Final Cut it lags for anywhere between 2 and 5 hours to open. Once it is open I have to wait for the project to load which takes no time at all (1 minute or so). But when I start playback, pause and then try to play again I get the spinning beach ball of death.
I know my project is immense, but this can't be the biggest project of all time. Especially with the new RED cameras and RAW 4k footage. So what am I doing wrong? I don't want to throw out and start all over, but at the same time I know that that is a possibility that I'm going to have to cope with.
Also I've done the Repair Permissions, Repair disk and cleaned many extra unnecesary files within the computer already. So that's not an issue.
Can anyone help me? I'm supposed to have the project done by this Saturday, November 30th, 2013.
I appreciate any and all help. For a start try trashing the preferences with this free app.
http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
Shut down FCP X, open PreferenceManager and in the window that appears:-
1. Ensure that only FCP X is selected.
2. Click Trash and the job is done.
Perfectly safe as the preferences are separate from the app and when you re-open FCP X it will create new ones.
Many weird things happen as a result of corrupt preferences which can create a vast range of different symptoms, so whenever FCP X stops working properly in any way, trashing the preferences should be the first thing you do.

Hi, Has anyone run into issues with the cisco dynamic configuration tool? I recently noticed I cannot customize the hardware I am trying to configure. This was not like this in the past.
