  • (bootcamp) graphics card crash when playing games

Firstly apologies if I've put this in the wrong section of the forum... this is the most applicable I could find.
Having tried to enquire at the good folks of AMD, they told me I needed to see apple. Finding a support email is nigh on impossile - so either that or advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated!
I have a boot camp partition on a mid 2011 macbook pro - my graphics card is Radeon HD 6750M.
I have recently been experiencing graphics card crashes when playing games.
There is no boot camp update available, so I am forced to update the driver manually. Trying to use the automated detection/installation tool on the ATI site resulted in the error "your computer doesn't have a proper graphics adapter"
When I located and downloaded the mac bootcamp drivers from the ATI site site, and I tried to install these it was unable to detect my existing microsoft C++ distributable or install its own - so the installation failed.
    All advice welcome!

yeah - it *might* have fixed my issue - or at least it hasn't crashed yet... jynxed it now ofcourse ;p I have acouple of questions though...
Why did this just start happening - I've played other games and this game before without these crashing issues?
I'm worried about configuring this fan thing correctly - lots of 'if your hardware gets damages it's not my problem' warnings on the software site. I know there's only 4 options - how do I ensure I select the right one? ie I thought I had a unibody macbook pro but it can't find the second GPU?

  • ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512 MB graphics card has failed?

I think my ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512 MB graphics card has failed...
This is a MacPro 1,1 (2006). We're on our yacht in a French territory, South Pacific, so local support is non-obtainium. I would appreciate any advice on how I can confirm my graphics card is dead.
I have only 23" Apple Cinema Display for testing. The display works great on MBP, so that end is good.
The MacPro seems to boot normally - AFAIK based on startup sounds, fan, RAM LED diagnostic lights.
    Suggestions?

Case A) the screen goes blank at the login screen
invoke Safe Mode (hold down the Shift key at Startup).
This performs a five minutes or so Disk Utility ( Repair Disk) on the boot drive, then demands your userId and password, even if you normally auto-login.
Safe Mode only loads the absolutely essential Drivers, and the graphics drivers are not considered essential. So screen re-draw may be slow, but you can check your email, surf a little, do many operations that do not require graphics acceleration.
    Edit movies? Probably not.
Case B) your screen completely blank
If the power-on light flashes in a pattern, that indicates not enough good RAM to start up.
If no power light flashing, you need some function you can invoke that will show a non-graphics result.
The Caps Lock light on the keyboard is under software Control. If it works, at least the SMC controller that talks to the keyboard is working.
Holding down Control while pressing the Eject key on the keyboard brings up this familiar dialog box, whether you can see it or not:
    any key except:
    R for Restart;
    S for Sleep;
    Esc for cancel;
and return for the default Shut Down
should cause the System Beep sound. S should Sleep it, and the power light should shortly indicate that it is sleeping. Any key will then wake it up.

  • Everytime I start up Photoshop, my graphic card Crashes!

So when I start up Photoshop it starts loading the items and stuff but than I believe it gets to the 3D Stuff or Something when my Graphic Card Crashes. My Graphics Card is an AMD Radeon HD 6410D I've tried to update it but no Updates found for it(It's up to date) So can it not handle this? (The Error message it gives me is The Graphics card has stopped but recovered) Or something like that.

I went to the site, downloaded the installer, Installed it, checked to see if it still crashes and it does. Oh well... I guess I'll just live with it. Do you know anyway to FULLY Disable 3D Graphics because I believe that's what's causing the crashing.

  • IMAC 24Inch with NVidia 256 MB graphics card CRASHED NO SCREEN STARTUP HELP

HI there, wondering if anyone has had their nvidia GT graphics card crash then the screen go black?
I got home tonight, my ali imac 24inch, looks like its off, I turn it on, everything boots up but no
screen. Ive shared the screen through my macbook and look at the system info and it says under graphics displays "No information found" What does this mean? Has my graphics card destroyed itself?
    It better not have! HELP!!!

Actually you may find that you have more success with an AMD\ATI Radeon video card.
I have experienced that with some motherboards, specifically Pegatron motherboards.
The problem is that you are delving into the DIY gaming PC realm and  trying to do it with a prebuilt desktop PC.
Upgrading a prebuilt PC does not always result in a success story. Don't even consider trying to install cutting edge gaming memory modules. That will be a definite disappointment for you.
You may get lucky with an AMD Radeon HD video card.
But...You might just run into the same frustrating scenario you are facing today. I wish I had better news to give you.

  • FP11 - Graphics Card Crashes

    Hi Adobe,
I'm experiencing regular graphics card crashes when viewing Molehill demos using the latest FP release 11.0.1.3d.
For instance, these demos cause my entire screen to go black for 5 seconds and crash my whole browser:
    http://www.ringo.nl/projects/away3d/broomstick/LoaderOBJTest.html
    http://blam3d.com/demos/f16uvtest.html
Any also, I can't watch any videos on Vimeo and half the time, youTube videos won't play for me.
I've lodged bugs for these issues in Jira:
    https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-7191
    https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-7192
But I'd like to know from Adobe, will these crashes go away when FP11 is released? There are so many different PC/Graphics Card combinations, will Adobe be able to ensure that Molehill applications won't cause crashes?
My team has invested a lot of time in a big app that uses Molehill, but we are getting very nervous seeing so many crashes - please re-assure me and my team that FP11 Molehill will be rock solid at the time of release!

obviously its NOT fine, and stability in a handful of other applications means jack.
different applications apply different load in different manners to the hardware.
There is an evident history of improperly configured hardware or actual hardware combinations causing problems in D3D but not in OpenGL, or in OpenGL but not in D3D.
such is the case with a VIA KT600 and an nvidia GFX card at AGP 8x causing graphical corruption and crashes in D3D that never occured in opengl, or an overclocked i7 that absolutely only ever hung in opengl apps but not in direct3d apps(voltage insufficient).
The sooner people stop blinding themselves to the realities of just how much a precise configuration matters, the sooner they'll fix their own problems.
Seriously, if i can deploy flash across a wide assortment of hardware configurations and not get crashes or blackscreens, then its definitely saying about the  configurations of the denialists who claim their system is fine.

  • MSI R9 280X Gaming 6GB Issue

I've purchased this card about a month ago from Newegg and it's been great so far.  The only problem that i have is when navigating through windows.  Maybe it's just from using my browser but I've notice the screen to flicker when i'm in the browser scrolling or watching videos.  I have turned off hardware acceleration, used MSI drivers, beta drivers, and the latest drivers but this still happens from time to time.  I don't think the card is an issue itself because i do not notice this when I'm in game.  I believe the R9 280x 6GB that i have comes with the latest vbios already so i am not too sure if MSI currently has anything to remedy this issue.  Apparently this has been an ongoing issue with R9 cards.  So not sure if it is the R9 line of cards itself, the drivers provided by AMD, or the bios installed on the cards.  RMA won't fix this issue as it is a widely known problem throughout all manufacturers of this line of cards.

Yeah, I got the same issue. Windows 8.1Pro (64bit).  Same card (6GB).
If I'm on the desktop and I leave a game running in the background and sometimes when using the browser displaying videos and/ or flash video ads, I get what looks like a screen shift.  The picture flickers or jars upward/ downward. It reminds me of something you might have seen on an old CRT monitor when you hit the degauss button, but not quite as bad. It's like some kind of vertical screen refresh or something and looks like someone smacking your monitor from the top while you are using it. The only way I know how to fully re-produce it, at will, is by running my Unigine Valley benchmark in the background and then proceeding to do things on the desktop.  It's definitely not heat related because my GPU temp can be at 33c or lower and still doing it. If I leave my Elder Scrolls Online game running in a background, depending on what's happening in the game, it can do it in this scenario too.

Decompress the attached .rar archive with Winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Create a bootable usb stick (https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=165175.0).
Then unpack the previously provided archive (xxx.rar) and put the included file (TVxxxxx.zzz) on that stick.
    Rename TVxxxxx.zzz to zzz.rom.
    Put the atiflash.exe from: https://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2306/atiflash-4-17/
on the USB stick too. Now boot from the stick.
Type atiflash -p -f -noaper 0 zzz.rom [ENTER] and let it flash the vbios.

None of that is a bios version. We need a link to a copy of your vbios saved to file and uploaded to a file hoster to check if there is a newer version. If not allowed to link yet add a break to the link so it is masked being a link.

Others reported that too when using the same card. If unlocking won't work (>>How to use MSI Afterburner<<) contact MSi about it as there seems to be an issue: >>How to contact MSI.<<

UEFI is aGOP compliant vbios that allows to use secureboot/fastboot (Windows 8/8.1). If not using UEFI booting it doesn't matter which you use. Older mainboards with UEFI but not being GOP compliant on the other hand won't work with a GOP vbios and only the legacy vbios allows to use the card.

  • MSI R9 280X GAMING 3G bios

Hello, I've recently bought an MSI R9 280X GAMING 3G video card and so far it works very well without any problems. However, having read some pretty nasty things about it overheating, coil whining, and fans going all wrong, I thought it might be a good idea to update vbios.
According to GPU-Z my current one is 0.15.040.000.003.003435 (113-C3865000-G77)
Is there a later version of bios for my GPU? Because MSI Live Update says no. Thanks in advance

If all is fine there is nothing to do. Either you have problems or not. These issues won't appear suddenly.

That information is useless. We need your card's S/N and a copy of the current vbios. However as said above if everything works don't bother with updating vbios just to update.

    Hi Guys,
I was wondering if there is any hardware difference between the MSI R9 280X GAMING and MSI R9 280X GAMING BF4 edition.
I already have an MSI R9 280X GAMING BF4 edition and I want one more that is identical. However the retail price for the "none BF4" is cheaper.
    Please advice.

    Hi,
There is no difference in hardware. The BF4 version has a code to get a copy/download of BF4

Eventually that is not even needed. it should be possible to switch between two versions with a hardware switch and one should be GOP compliant.
