Graphics card isn't working.

I just purchased the GTX 960 for my computer but it doesn't seem to be working.
System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
Model: h8-1213c
Motherboard: pegatron 2ad5
cpu: i7
Trying to upgrade from: GT 620
Power supply: 460W
Everytime I try installing the new graphics card the computer screen goes to a black screen after the HP splash screen as well as the motherboard making 3 beeps.
I've gone into the BIOS but I don't see an area for detecting graphics cards, I even called in my tech savvy boyfriend to look into the BIOS but he also could not find the graphic card detection.
I've temporarily switched back to the GT 620 card so that I can use my computer for now.
What could be causing the problem and is there a solution?
Thanks so much in advance!

Is there a connector to supply extra power to the graphics card?  My GTX 750 Ti does nothing useful if no power is supplied to its extra  power connector.

  • 2nd graphics card doesn't work after upgrade to 10.6

I ordered my Mac Pro with two ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT graphic cards and they always worked great. After I upgraded to Snow Leopard, it always shows a display connected to the second card even when there isn't. This wasn't an issue until I started having windows displayed on that "ghost" screen that I couldn't see. In the System Profiler, It no longer recognizes the graphics card like it should and reports the wrong amount of memory (1024 instead of 256MB... I wish) and of course reports a "Display" that doesn't exist. Since from time to time I like to connect my TV to my Mac - for movies or whatever else - I connect it to this second graphics card but since 10.6, it hasn't worked.
In short: my second graphics card isn't recognized correctly; it has a ghost display with or without a display connected to it; will not connect to a display.

I'd assume you do have a bad card now. Maybe wait and see if newer ATI cards come out, or opt for 4870 or flash one of the 1GB models that can be flashed, and save couple $100.

  • Mainstage says my MacBook graphics card isn't supported. Huh?

I just installed Logic Studio on my MacBook 2.2 Intel Duo OSX 10.5.5, and Mainstage won't boot. Says my graphics card isn't supported. Logic Pro works fine.
    Any ideas, geniuses?

MainStage has additional requirements beyond those of Logic Pro. Your MacBook uses onboard graphics which don't meet the requirement for the original version of MainStage; some people have gotten it to work by running the current MainStage updater.

I'm not aware of any, not to say that there aren't any issues.
it may have nothing to do with ntpd, there are a lot of things running.
ntpd just happen to make the log entry at the same time as the panic.
I would check to see if there are any updates available for you system.
if this is the first time that this has happened. it may be (pick one):
    cosmic rays
    sun spots
    the trilateral commission
if this happens more frequently and that traces look the same, then
there may be a real problem that needs to be looked into further.

  • Any reason a G5 Graphic card will NOT work in a Mac Pro as a second card

Should I try this?  I don't see any reason why not but would like to make sure
    Thanks

    Should I try this?
    No.
    It won't work.
Any reason a G5 Graphic card will NOT work
As explained, the G5 uses Open Firmware and the Mac Pro uses EFI.
The ROM of the graphics card is completely different for each of the two machines.
    The cards are not interchangeable.

    Hi DevangS,
If you are using GTA 4 then that would actually be the problem. According the PC System Requirements for GTA 4 it is only compatible with Windows Vista and Windows XP. Also the game requires a minimum of a 1.8 GHz processor and your model only has 1.7 GHz. You are trying to run an older game on the wrong operating system with hardware that doesn't meet the requirements for the game. Changing the BIOS or the NET framework isn't going to help with this issue.

    Hi @arkas
Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that you are having some graphic problems. Did you install that ATI driver from the AMD website? If so that is the problem. You have switchable graphics meaning that you have two video cards. The Intel card is designed for your everyday basic graphics processing while the ATI card is designed to handle the heavy lifting. Switchable graphics drivers are configured by the manufacturer of the notebook not the manufacturer of the graphics card.
I would suggest that you install your AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver and your Intel High-Definition Graphics Driver. If you are looking for more information on switchable graphics this HP document Switchable Graphics on Notebooks Configured with Intel and ATI GPUs.

  • Satellite P850-133 - extended graphics card is not working

    Hi!
I just got home my 2 new p850-133 and reinstalled they with a fresh copy of Windows 7, and then the extended graphics card not working, it says "code 10" can't start, what should i do, the integrated intel hd4000 is working really great.

    Hi
The notebook is equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GT630M GPU.
The Toshiba European driver page provides 3 different display drivers!
2 drivers are for nVidia GPU (v296.0 for 3D and v296.01) and one for Intel (v 8.15.10.2712).
You have to install Intel driver and one of the nVidia drivers.

  • Graphics Cards (What will work? - Minimum to Run CS6)

    Hi,
The community has been quite helpful so far, thanks!
I am looking purchase Premiere CS6 and will be running it on a machine with an AMD Phenom II 6 core processor with 8 gigs of ram. The video card is a 2 gig Radeon model, not on the supported list for graphics acceleration. Will it work at all, or do I need to have a new graphics card (I don't care about GPU acceleration)? The rest of my setup meets or exceeds minimum requirements.
Keep in mind that I am not doing much in the way of effects etc, just newsreel type shoots and interviews for my portfolio. CS6 is the only version available at my school at a discount and will be going to the cloud service in May, so I want to act now and secure a copy to use over the next couple years.
    Thanks,
    CM

Your system should work OK but you will be editing at half resolution instead of full resolution when using AVCHD. You might want to watch the video link. An i7 and inexpensive GT 640 would work good for editing native AVCHD but a GTX 650 Ti would be even better.
Both of those GPUs are a bit unbalanced with an i7 CPU, primarily due to their relatively low graphics memory bandwidth: 28.5 GB/s and 86.4 GB/s, respectively. However, there is a new version of the GTX 650 Ti that was just introduced: the GTX 650 Ti Boost (make sure that it specifically says "Boost" after the "GTX 650 Ti"). That GPU has the same 768 CUDA cores as the regular GTX 650 Ti, but with much greater memory bandwidth (144 GB/s versus 86.4 GB/s).
You are incorrect about the GTX 650 Ti. It can play back several layers of track matttes using native AVCHD at full resolution. The GTX 650 Ti GPU is infact bottlenecked by the CPU. The i7 will choke and be 100% after four layers of native AVCHD. The GPU of the GTX 650 Ti could easily play back 8 PIPs of native AVCHD provided the i7 CPU could decode that many layers but it cannot. Keep in mind the original poster of this thread is not going to be doing a lot of fancy effects. Having said that the GT 640 might be a better buy based on the users needs. I agree the GTX 650 Ti Boost would peform better than the standard GTX 650 Ti but the i7 would be the bottle neck not the GTX 650 Ti. I just wanted to correct the miss information.

  • Help: Graphic card don't work properly

    Hi,
I built a new pc with
    MB: MSI H87-G43
    CPU: Intel Core i5-4670
    GPU: MSI N660 TF 2GD5/OC      with  S/N: 602-V287-28SB1307046452
    Sys: Windows 7 64b Ultimate
PSU: Corsair RM650 (650W, gold certified)
My problem is that after initial built I was unable to run pc with N660 in, it would not load at all. After removing it, pc boots and I can work on integrated graphic card. I took the card to my friend where it worked without issue so what we did was to flash it with BIOS update from MSI - N660 TF 2GD5/OC / BIOS. After that card started to show artefacts and ended with blue screen on my friends PC. I took the card, installed it in my pc and it booted, however with artefacts, buti t worked. After installing nvidia drivers I have blue screen as well. Reverted this by going back with integrated graphic and removing drivers.
MOBO updated to BIOS 2.5 via Live Update 5
I also tried my old graphic card which is ASUS GTX295 and it doesn't boot as well (at all).
Any idea? I already ran out of options now...
Update: I used flash for this model, but as I read it needs specific S/N, might be that issue?

This vbios is not for your card. It's NV287MS.2C versions (legacy) or NV287MH.2C (gop) versions.
Attached are NV287MH.2C0 (gop) and NV287MS.2C2 (legacy). Use what you want of these two and retry.

My laptops graphic card is not working

    Hey BCU,
Can you please tell me what operating system you are using? To see which version of Windows you are using click here: Which Windows operating system am I running?
Open Device Manager and click View at the top and then click Show hidden devices. Expand Display adapters and Other devices. Tell me if you can see both graphics cards, if one is missing, or if you have a generic Display adapter listed in Other devices.
You may also need to update the BIOS and chipset drivers for your notebook. You can find them here: HP Pavilion 15-n260tx Notebook PC Drivers.
If this does not work I would suggest a system restore to when it was working properly. You can do this by repeatedly tapping the F11 key while your notebook boots to access the Recovery Manager. Once in there choose system restore and choose a restore date as close to today but still before the issue started.
If that does not work I would suggest a system recovery back to the original factory condition. You can also do this with the F11 boot method.
If that does not work, I would suggest calling HP Phone Support for service options. You can contact HP Technical Support at 1-800-474-6836 in North America. For all other regions click here.
Let me know if this works!

  • NVIDIA Graphic Card doesn't work on T430S with Windows 8

My T430S laptop runs Windows 8 and has a NVIDIA graphic card. Somehow I was never able to enter the NVIDIA control panel and got the error message below. I checked the setting in BIOS and it seems that NIVDIA Optimus mode is not availale on Windows 8. I updated the most recent driver released in Feb 2013 from Lenovo but it didn't solve the problem. I was wondering how I could use the NVIDIA on my compueter.

  • A graphics card that will work with my 23' Apple Cinema Screen?

    Hello all,
My graphics card currently is a Radeon 9700 pro for my g4 - its pretty much about to die on me. I was researching cards and I can't figure out which one performs as well as my radeon 9700 pro OEM apple card and has the 'ADC' connection needed for this large 23' monitor. In most photos of graphics cards in webstores i've seen, they do not have an 'ADC' connection. I need help finding one, anybody have suggestions as to what card I should get and where?
I already tried the ti4600 and there were compatibility issues..

    Hi-
Not quite the same performance level, but not a bad card, the Radeon 9000 Pro will support your ADC monitor. Also available here.
You can replace the 9700 with another 9700.
The NVidia GeForce 4 MX is another option.
This page will allow you to cross reference the Apple part numbers with the appropriate card during your search.
