Graphics crash...
Games crash after a while sometimes immediatly sometimes 3 to 4 minutes and i think this is my system.
Maybe you helpful guys could give me some advice.
My system is:
MSI k7t266 pro2 ru (ms-6380 v2) motherboard
athlon xp1700
512MB ddr pc2100
winfast geforce2 titanium (4x)
The only time the system seems to crash is when im playing a game.
DVDs seem fine.
When it crashes the screen either just goes off (as if its in monitor power saving) or i get a scrambled colour screen.
The only way to get out is to reset or power off.
Any ideas? Is my graphics card knackered?
If you only crash when you are doing something processor/graphic intensive (dont crash if you just stay on the desktop), i would look at several things:
- when did it start? (any recent upgrade? install? change in weather?)
- PSU: if you installed anything new recently, it may have problem to cope
- heat: is your case well ventilated? cooler efficient on the CPU/graphic card?
- software
Try to stress your system and see where it is failing:
- CPU stress test (prime 95, Sandra CPU/multimedia)
- memory test (memtest86)
- graphic + proc (3d mark, divx movie x3, game...)
in order, i would:
- test memory: if it fails, you know why
- test proc: failure could point to the PSU/cooler
- test graphic

Graphics Crashing with Premiere Pro CC after Yosemite Upgrade
Hi There
I am having a lots of graphics crashing since upgrading to Yosemite.

I am running the latest version of all Adobe Apps.
I've attached a screen shot to show an example.
Any help appreciated.

WHen will Adobe address this problem?

Hi,
Ever since I installed the release version of Yosemite I'm having serious problems with graphic crashes. I can be just moving a file and a message appears out of nowhere that there was a serious graphic issue and the GPU is restarting and that a report will be send to Apple.
I participated in the seeds program and never had one problem, it started after I installed the release version. At first it happened every now and than but at the moment it happens 4 to 6 times a day. The last crash turned my screen black and scared the heck out of me.
I finally had a look at the console messages, I normally try to stay away they only confuse me, but there are large kernel data screens. And after the last black screen and reboot I have hundreds of these messages:

Should I be worried? Anything I can do?
I keep getting notifications from the App store to install the newest beta version of Yosemite, I wonder if that would be a fix? Or better stay away from it.
Thanks for reading and I hope someone can enlighten me about what is going on.
ChristineHi Linc,
I'm extremely grateful for your extensive directions and help. I truly appreciate it.
I have CrashPlan running a back-up service so I covered that part.
Did exactly as you wrote and here are the results. It lists Chrome Canary which I stopped using because I thought it was the culprit. Canary runs smoother and better that the regular 32 bits Chrome.
Personally I think Path Finder is the offender. Every time a crash occurred I was using Path Finder (7.0.7 the latest version) moving or copying a file. I love Path Finder. I have turned it off for now until I know what it causing this, but I'm lost without it. I feel awkward using the Finder. ;-) I have been a user of the Finder replacement since day 1.
Thanks so much!
Christine

Satellite P200D-11R sound and graphics crash after waking up from sleep mode
Hi,
I am wondering if anyone here has had similar experiences to mine (below) or can offer any solutions.
I have upgraded my P200D-11R OS to Vista 64 Ultimate to take advantage of the extra performance. I also add that the BIOS has already been updated to version 1.4.
Well, everything works fine with the standard 2Gig of RAM which the laptop was supplied with originally, however, when I upgrade the RAM to 4Gig (2 x 2GB Samsung 667mHz modules), sound and graphics problems appear every time the machine is brought back from sleep mode.
The sound card makes a very laud fuzzy noise every time it wants to play a sound and the graphics produce lots of horizontal lines on the screen. I then just have to restart the machine which means loosing all my unsaved work.
Everything works fine as long as the machine does not enter sleep mode. I have currently disabled the sleep mode to prevent the machine from entering it but I am finding life very hard without it.
I am very surprised and also disappointed at the fact that Toshiba did not test these machines with Vista 64 Ultimate and 4Gig of RAM!
Extra info:
The memory is the same Samsung type as the 1Gig modules supplied by Toshiba originally with the machine, and the part number Toshiba recommends.
I have tried installing other (more recent) device drivers by Realtek and ATI without any improvements.
The memory modules pass all tests and are not defective. They have also been tested on my friends Dell notebook with no problems even in sleep mode.
I have installed my friends Dell 2Gig memory modules in my P200D and they too produce exactly the same results with post-sleep crashes.
My thoughts are that this must be another BIOS issue unless anyone can shed some light on the issue from another angle.
Please help! Many thanks in advance.Hi Sascha
Since you are running a Vista 32bit version, the upper limit of the memory recocnised by the machine is 3.2gb which is the maximum a 32bit operating system can address and use. The diffrence here is that I also upgraded my OS to Vista Ultimate 64bit to get yet better performance out of the 64bit dual AMD processor.
3.2gb of RAM on 32bit OS does not necessarily increase the performance. However, it keeps the performance stable when you open many more programs at the same time since the machine has more RAM to play with before staring to use the much slower hard drive as operating memory (Page File), to keep all thoes open programs running.
A 64bit OS such as Vista Ultimate 64, recognises the whole 4gb of RAM and much more (for instance, 8gb with 2 x 4gb RAM modules). The 64bit OS itself would generally consume more RAM to start with, however, with 4gb I found the general performance to be much better. Going back to the problem however, my P200D-11R with Ultimate 64 and 4gb RAM refuses to wake up from sleep mode gracefully and the graphics and sound crash every time, forcing me to restart.
My feelings at present is that eventhough your machine may be slightly different, I bet if you upgrade your OS to 64bit, the machine will start recognising all of the 4gb of RAM and post-sleep crashes will start to appear! -
Macbook Pro and ATI Graphics crashes in Windows Vista and 7
Hey all, I was wondering if anyone else had been having problems with Windows 7 and Vista having graphics driver crashes. I have been having this problem since the Boot Camp beta, and it has yet to be addressed as far as I can tell.
Basically the problem is that after a few minutes in either Vista or 7(after installing all the boot camp drivers from the Leopard or Snow Leopard disc) the screen graphics will start getting all corrupted. Eventually I will get a message in the taskbar telling me that the ATI driver has crashed and recovered from an error.
I have looked everywhere online I can think of for an answer, but have come up pretty empty thus far. The only thing I remember finding that was a possibility a long time ago was something to do with trying it with 1 stick of ram installed rather than 2, or that my ram could be problematic.
I tried running with just 1 stick, and that didn't help at all. I also tried each stick individually also with no change. I even went as far as running a diagnostic using some kind of memory testing software to see if the ram was bad, but it came back as good.
Also, I have run in XP without any issues whatsoever, so I am assuming it is something Vista and 7 specific. I was thinking it might have something to do with the Aero features as when I disable the ATI driver and run in Windows Basic without Aero enabled, I don't get the graphics glitches. Another clue might be that when the graphics glitch up, if I bring up the ctrlaltdel screen which gives you the option of Task Manager, Log Off, etc. the graphics are NOT glitched on that screen. As soon as you exit that screen however, the glitched screen is immediately back.
Bah, I am at pretty much the end of my sanity trying to figure this out, and was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the older MacBook Pro or is mine just inherently bad? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here is my system info just for extra help possibly?

Apparently, at least on this model of MacBook, Apple has the ATI card underclocked to 310MHz / 278MHz (GPU and RAM respectively) when running normally. However, when running in Windows the ATI driver automatically uses the full clock speed of 470MHz / 470MHz (or something to that effect). The reason that it ends up getting artifacts and driver crashes is because of overheating. Apple has it underclocked because of the way heat is distributed in the system.
Anyway, I found a tool that KIND of works for fixing the issue I believe. It is called ATITool, and allows you to change the clock speed to the 310MHz / 278MHz that works so well in OS X.
It is located at: http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/
One thing though, the newest version 0.27 beta 3 (on mine at least) causes the backlight of the screen to go off when you load it in Windows. If you put the machine into hibernate, then bring it back up it will come back on... but that is annoying. I have found that the version 0.25 beta 13 doesn't have this issue. It is possible some of the other versions prior to 0.27 beta 3 also don't have this issue, but I haven't tested them yet. I will give some of them a try later.
The previous versions can be found here: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/Tweaking/ATITool/
Anyway, if anyone else has luck with other clock speeds or knows of any other solutions please let me know. This way works, but I would like to find a better solution if possible. -
AMD Switchable Graphics crashing Illustrator CC 2014
I have recently updated Illustrator to CC 2014 and I am unable to open any files or create new ones since then.
It says the graphic card is not supported, however, it was supported and fully working in Illustrator CC

Help appreciated!Hi Syed,
Thanks for the crash dump. I analyzed it at my end and it seems that AI CC 2014 goes into non-responding state due to some printer (printer driver) conflict.
Can you try the following two workarounds and let me know the end results:
1) Remove all the connected/installed printers.
2) Update the printer drivers for the connected/installed printers.
With Best Regards,
Raghuveer Singh -
Forms RUN_PRODUCT for Graphics crashes
I have Forms 6.0.5.0.2 and Graphics 6.0.5.8.0 installed.
I have a couple of different charts created in graphics.
When I try to display them on my form, I can display the
chart just fine the first time. I then select a different
parameter to pass to the chart, and that works fine too.
On the third time, it crashes. This is the message I get...
GOBAT60 caused an invalid page fault in
module OG60.DLL at 015f:61e61c3b.

Graphics crashes under Windows XP SP3 with Radeon X1600
Hello
I've been experiencing a lot of problems with my MacBook Pro recently. Everytime I run an application that demands some graphic power from the X1600 GPU, such as games or Photoshop, the computer crashes and gets EXTREMELY hot (so hot I can't even touch it). Sometimes the screen just goes black, or the audio loops endlessly; others (unfortunatley not too frequently) the crash recovers with a "VPU Recover" message, stating the computer lost connection with the GPU. I noticed that the fans are not running either, so I installed InputRemapper and manually controlled them. Even with the fans running at full speed while operating graphic-demanding applications, the crashes continue to happen.
I've already installed the latest drivers for bootcamp from the ATI website and even deleted the bootcamp partition and re-installed windows XP on it. I installed Everest to check on the temperature of the GPU, and just before a crash, it reaches up to 60º Celsius.
This issue, however, is not exclusive to WinXP, as it too happens on Leopard, where the fans also aren't running automatically. I tried an SMC reboot but this didn't work either.
Any suggestions on how to solve this before my old MBP melts on me someday?
Thanks in advance.I ran the hardware test. There were no problems at all. Maybe the MBP cooled down after the restart to make the test, who knows. Still, back on WinXP SP3, I had another crash, although the VPU Recover managed to restart the GPU.
Right now the temps are as follows:
Northbridge: 51ºC
GPU:52ºC
CPU Core #1: 54ºC
CPU Core #2: 50ªC
I even tried underclocking the GPU to reduce the heat generation. I installed ATITool 0.25 beta 13 (reportedly the only version that does actually work with the MacBook Pro) and underclocked the GPU's core to 305.10 MHz and the memory to 274.5 MHz. I stumbled on an article via google that described this procedure to help control the heat generation a few minutes after making my original post here; This caused some drop on the heat readings, but not quite a lot:
Northbridge: 49ºC
GPU: 49ºC
CPU Core #1: 50ºC
CPU Core #2: 47ªC
The fans are running at 6000 RPM right now and it does not get any cooler, plus I'm using a refrigeration base (those thingies with fans underneath the laptop).
Upon reinstalling the drivers back then, i did completley uninstall the prior drivers before installing the new ones (titled on ATI's download site as "Bootcamp drivers" for WinXP). I rebooted the machine, and only then I installed the updated drivers. Same procedure just now, and no effects at all.
Any other thoughts? I've looked around the discussion forums and there were a lot of issues just like this one, still unresolved. Looks to me like this is some GPU firmware/BIOS problem, and though it's well documented here on the forums, I can't find any sollution to it. -
Graphics crash, sorry wrong thread before...
Any ideas? Is my graphics card knackered?never mine what i say .
u got pass 7
if nothing show bad mem, your mem stick is ok :D -
Graphics "crash?" with certain apps?
Since the app store opened, I've found there are some apps that 'garble' the game graphics. The app doesn't 'really' crash, it continues to work, but you can't really see much except for a pixelated mess.
The Apple Texas Hold'em works beautifully,
but other apps like motochaser or enigmo do this every time.
I've tried resetting the phone and deleting the apps and redownloading them from the app store, but nothing seems to work.
Any ideas? What firmware are you running? Things have been updated since AppStore opened.
Also when did you reboot last?
Try a reboot (described below).
Think of it this way, the iPhone is more of a computer than a phone. It suffers from being a new OS and nobody can deny there are not bugs and memory leaks. The longer left running, the more things start to fail or slow down (I have had the iPhone since day one of original phone and I am just speaking from my experience). Thus I equate it to like when Windows95 came out...not sure of your age or if you remember those days...but back then it was a running joke of how many days you can keep Windows 95 running before you had to reboot. I am sorry to say but the iPhone is the same way right now (but getting better with a few hiccups back during the 2.0 release). So for me, I reboot daily when I leave in the morning and take it off the charger. By doing so I rarely see any lag or problems.
A reset/reboot is:
Go to Home Screen
Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.
You may also wish to read this tread about reboots and odd application behavior.

MOVED: K9AGM3-FIH Vista graphics crash issue
This topic has been moved to Vista problems.
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=115951.0Hi Sascha
I have a mid 2010 15" Macbook Pro (with the GT330M). Under OSX, the graphics will crash and the screen will go permanently blank, maybe with some audio glitch. Under windows, the graphics driver will crash and reset, or in some cases hang the entire system. It happens with a variety of applications.
Is it a hardware problem? The bios cannot be set for an option you don't have.
Check you system build configuration for it.

IMac 27" i7 graphic crash overheating slow
iMac 27" i7 models slowly melt down!
Have you ever been wondering why you'r iMac 27" i7 is getting slower and freezing?
Everytime you put the graphics under pressure by gaming or working with hardcore graphics, 3D, etc. for a longer period (like 3-5 hours) you'r iMac 27" i7 gets hot... VERY HOT.
Everytime your iMac gets hot, it makes a small damage to the processor, and the computer gets slower and slower and slower...
It all starts with the graphics getting slower, which make you feel your computer is getting slower!
(if you'r a iMac 27" i7 owner and you'r computer never gets slower, please go to wikipedia and search for MIRACLE)
Then the reboot time gets longer and longer, and sometimes the "killer screen" appears at start-up (screen freeze and turns white or light blue)
Right before your iMac 27" i7 take it's last breath, screen flickering appears on you'r desktop and applications, and finally you got a screen with only stripes or graphic parts or just one color.
From now on you'r iMac will only boot when it's cold and after 15 mins when it get's warm.. gues what?.... FREEEZE #?§!""##
You know the processor is completly dead when you'r not able to reboot anymore, and find yourself on your way to the nearest apple repair store.
Here is what i think...
The big 27" SCREEN, the i7 PROCESSOR and the big GRAPHIC CARD PROCESSOR requires alot of power which heating up the small space alu cabinet.
The fans is factory set to make minimum noise and just barely cool down "normal tasks" like surfing the net, sorting pictures, watching movies, working in numbers and pages and so on...
As soon you start working with more demanding graphic app's or games, the fan does not cool properly, and you get NO warnings that you'r computer is about to get very sick!
I also suspect the heat causes damage to the built in WiFi and CD/DVD drive, since the i7's have alot of problems with lost wifi connections and brooken CD/DVD drives.
I've had all imac 27" i7 models since it first came on the market, and every single one of them ended up with a overheated and smashed processor.
Today my 3rd iMac i7 crashed..
I work with Logic Pro, Final Cut, Photoshop, Illustrator and play Battlefield 3 in Windows 7 on my mac...
WARNING! Windows only speed up the "melt down" process!
Hope it helps you?
ThomasThis is nothing new.
I have been saying what you've been saying since I got my first, uses 2009 iMac almost 9 months, ago.
I have written numerous posts in this forum about this issue.
Sensitive computer electronics do not like heat. Especially too high or unusually high heat like what these newer design iMacs internally generate.
High or excessive heat shortens the life of electronic components. Especially the electronic components in computers and iMacs, specifically.
The design of 2009-2012 iMacs simply are not designed sufficiently to properly exhaust the internal heat build up inside these iMacs. The iMac aluminum backplate enclosure absorbs and holds much more heat on the inside than is convected outward from the outside of the enclosure.
How have I dealt with this.
First, I removed the front glass of the iMac.
This has had two effects. One is that the screen is not as glossy any longer and two, it allows some of the heat, more or less convect out from the front of the iMac more freely.
Third, I run Sofware fan controls for the fans and have ramped them up enough to keep the iMacs internal temps cooler without over revving the fans to cause them to prematurely fail. The iMac is a little noisier, but not annoyingly so.
Fourth, I run a small external fan on the iMac's aluminum backplate/enclosure to cool my iMac from the rear.
I Am hoping all of these things will extend my iMac's life cycle.
Having a Mac burn out within 3-5 years in completely unacceptable to me.
Especially given that I still have an almost 10 year old PowerMac G4 MDD that is going strong that has many, many hours of use and upgrades within it. -

I'm having problems getting my home built system to work. every time I install the drivers for my graphics card the sytem just crashes or halts, I have tried different versions of the drivers and have flashed the bios and got the latest 4IN1 via chip drivers but it still just crashes PLEASE can some one help me ! its driving me crazy ;(
willizThese are pretty basic ideas, but try them anyway.
Go into the BIOS and check that your graphics settings are right in reguards to AGP speed and whether it is an AGP or PCI card. I cannot think of anything else at the moment, but if I think of anything I will post. Good Luck! -
Graphics crashes on Satellite M40-154
I have a problem with my Toshiba M40-154. It has Pentium 1.73Ghz with X600 graphics card. The notebook was marketed as an entertainment machine, but my graphics driver crashes. Every time I am playing any game involving slightest graphics, like unreal tournament 2003 or need for speed most wanted. I have updated all the drivers, bios etc from the website and the problem still persists.
I send it to Toshiba, and they returned it back to me saying they could not find any problem with the machine. The problem is the graphic card crashes at its own will even watching DVDs at times.
Anyone having the same problem and solved it? Can please give me the solution?
Please don't give me solutions like updating my drivers from the Toshiba support website, as I spend half my day on that website, updating my computer, where as I should be working and making better use or my time.
I am sorry to have written so much, but you can understand how much frustrated you will be when you have a problem.
[Edited by: admin on 28-Aug-2006 11:00]Hi there,
When you say crash, do you mean to system spontaneously reboots?
I used to have this problem ALL the time when playing games, like you I thought it was because I had dodgy graphics card drivers so I tried a load of different ones - from official to modded ones.
I then installed a CPU temperature monitor and it was reading 70c just at idle!! So then obviously, I go to run a game like Splinter Cell or HL2 - anything CPU power demanding and hey presto, the temp exceeds 100C and proceeds to just turn itself off.
Also like you, I sent it to service under warranty telling them that my notebook is way too hot, sort it out. They phone me back saying 'We can't find any faults'. This made me quite mad so I tell them to look again and I insisted again and again that it was 70 at idle, and in excess of 100 when I play games.
Then what do you know, a day later I get told they're waiting for a new cooling module to come in so they can fit it. 2 days later I get it back and the problem is gone!
2 things:
1) Don't let them tell you there is no problem, there obviously is.
2) If you are experiencing something along the lines of what I just said, send it back to service and make sure you mention that it crashes when you play games.
Good luck,
Antony
