Graphics Drivers in Windows 7 on Macbook Pro

Hi,
On my shiny new 15 in. MBP, I installed Windows 7 RC x32 using Boot Camp. Once Windows 7 was installed, I put in the Mac OS X CD to get additional drivers after which sound started working and screen resolution became dramatically better (keyboard lighted up as well).
The only problem is that I don't think the graphics/video drivers were properly installed. I can't choose a screen saver and Aero features are working. The only deviation I took from the instructions posted on simplehelp was that I chose "install only required updates" rather than "install required and recommended updates." I tried to fix that by manually installing 8 updates and then turning on automatic update. The only updates I haven't installed that are still sitting there are 31 language files (I don't need Arabic support, so I'll pass).
Any help?? Thank you!

Just found this link for the graphics driver for Windows 7 . I have Aero enabled now but it still has "Desktop performance for Windows Aero" rated as a 1 . Hope this helps. Good luck.

    Doug...
If you don't have it for reference, the manual might come in handy > US/Boot_Camp_Install-Setup.pdf
After it loads, Command + F to find information regarding the drivers.

Dell's drivers are only for Windows. If you can find out who makes the printer and what model it is, then you may be able to find OS X drivers for it. Or you can see how well it works using the Generic driver.

    Yes.
    but
You will have to erase the drive completely and install Windows, you can't achieve it just by deleting OSX
I do not recommend that you do it.

iplz recommend me graphics drivers for windows 7 compatible with hp notebook pc 500

    Hi:
Download and run this driver.  You will probably get an unsupported operating system error.
    http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=447304&swItemId=ob_47264_1&swEnvOid=2096
Close out of any error windows.
Go to the device manager and click on the video controller needing drivers.
Click on the driver tab.  Click on update driver.  Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp34749.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.
Reboot and your graphics should be working normally.
You will not have Windows aero because the Intel GMA 900 graphics adapter is not 100% Vista or W7 capable but at least you will be able to change the screen resolution and have graphics acceleration enabled.

  • How to I get Graphic Drivers for Windows 7 using Bootcamp on my Late 2011 17" MacBook Pro?

I just received my new 17" Late 2011 MacBook Pro to replace my older model MBP.  I had configured the older MBP with two 500Gb SSD drives by replacing the original hard drive and the DVD with 500Gb SSDs.  Works fine.  I then simply installed these two SSDs from the older MBP on the new machine.  OSX works fine, after a few software updates.  Likewise Win 7 Pro is installed on a Boot Camp partition with the drivers from the Mid 2010 MBP.  Windows seems to run fine after the expected reactivation, but the graphics are obviously not running at full resolution, I am certain this is due to the differing graphics card between the Mid 2010 MBP and the Late 2011 MBP.
Apple does not show any drivers download for the new MBP, I am running BootCamp software version 4.0.
Although I could certainly do it, I don't want to spend the time to run a new installation of Windows 7 and reinstall all the myriad windows updates.  It would take hours.
I know that the new installation process takes a step to download the BootCamp drivers, but how can you reinitiate this process after installing BootCamp as I have without progressing through the whole installation process?
    Any help appreciated.....

"At least 16 GB of free space on the disk onto which you’re installing for 32-bit, or 20 GB for 64-bit (for Microsoft Windows and Windows-based applications)."
That's what Apple proposes in here Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows
Personally I would double these amounts and add to that the diskspace needed for your Windows games.

  • How to update graphics card drivers for late 2008 macbook pro with Nvidia 9600m GT?

Can anybody help me update the drivers for my 9600m GT graphics card for my Late 2008 Macbook pro? I am running OS X Lion 10.7.5 with a Windows 7 partition. I have tried finding support on Nvidia's website, but at least for the 9600m GT, it isn't supported for my operating system. Would I have to update it from my Windows side? And if so, would the update apply to my OS X side as well? I have a little computer knowledge, but nothing indepth.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
In OS X, Apple provides the GPU drivers and you cannot update them from NVIDIA. They are updated with each OS X update, so you are running the most recent drivers for your OS X version. OS X Mountain Lion and Mavericks have got more recent GPU drivers, but it's not worth upgrading unless you need newer drivers for an app (I highly doubt this).
However, you can update the GPU drivers in Windows, and you should do it to get the best performance. You can download them from the NVIDIA site > http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us Note that drivers are only applied in the operating system you are installing them, so they will not be installed in OS X

  • Installing windows on macbook pro without bootcamp. Will this allow for switchable graphics?

Hi everyone, I was thinking of buying a new Macbook Pro Retina 15 Inch with the discrete nvidia graphics card inbuilt with it.
I love windows and I am planning on running windows 7/8 on the macbook pro as my primary OS (because of advantages of gaming and being familarized with windows os), however I have heard the issue of running windows on bootcamp severally drains battery life as apple does not allow you to switch the nvidia graphics to the integrated graphics. Is this true? I have heard that running windows 7/8 on bootcamp allows for only around 3:30 hours of battery life, whilst OSX allows for 8+ since it uses the integrated graphics primarily when not running GPU demanding applications.
I am wondering if you can install windows 7 without bootcamp which will wipe apple OS from the laptop completely. Will this allow for the laptop to do switable graphics without problems allowing the laptop to save much needed battery life?
    Thanks in advance.
    Michael

Sorry it seems to have taken so long for you to get an answer on this question!
Your last post was mostly right... It IS a bad idea to go that route!
While it's technically POSSIBLE to get Windows in place without OSX, it's a MAJOR technical hassle and you need to jump through several hoops to get to that point.
In addition to the hassle required, having an OSX partition can be incredibly useful at times - I've had my Windows system break several times in the past where the automated (and even manual) startup-repair process failed to get Windows booting again, but a short boot into OSX later, I have the problem resolved (via OSX) and am able to get back into Windows.
Finally, you need to be aware that the graphics card situation isn't because of the presence of OSX. Just because you get rid of MacOS doesn't mean you suddenly will be able to use either graphics card! The limitation comes into play with the hardware drivers necessary to get all your hardware working in Windows - they just don't have the facility to switch graphics cards built into them.
I'm afraid you're stuck with the NVidia card when using Windows, one way or another!
Bootcamp is a prerequisite BTW. Without it you won't be able to get Windows installed at all (at least not without MAJOR stumbling block, again!), and again, the graphics card limitation isn't due to OSX or Bootcamp.
Also, battery life... Yes. You'll have significantly less in Windows, and this isn't entirely because of the graphics card situation either. MacOS is just built so well, with the limited hardware used by Apple in mind, that power-management when using OSX os significantly better! The legendary battery life of Apple systems is actually primarily due to the operating system, not the batteries themselves!
As a helpful indication: On my 2009 17" MBP I get about 7 hours on the integrated chip in OSX (8 is pusing it, but is possible sometimes); about 5 hours in OSX when using the NVidia; and about 3 and a half when I'm in Windows.
Hope this all helps you. If you have any further questions feel free!
Apologies for the scattered approach to answering your posts - it's LATE where I am and I"m kinda rushing through things... :-)

  • Using Intel graphics in Windows on Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013 ?

I own a Macbook Pro Retina 15" Late 2013 with Nvidia GT750M graphics.
On Windows, the power consumption and heat production is noticeable higher than on OSX.
People said this is due the Nvidia GT750M being constantly used, because there is officially no way to switch to the more power saving Intel Graphics on Windows.
I have found a extremely tricky way to switch the graphics, but unfortunately I have no idea how I do this:

Does someone know a easier way to do it or can explain it step-by-step ?
I'd appreciate this very much if I could have a longer battery life on Windows

  • BSOD when installing windows 7 drivers using bootcamp in macbook pro late 2013

I followed the bootcamp instructions and installed windows 7 in my macbook pro 13 inch late 2013. But when the bootcamp starts to install the required drivers, halfway through the computer goes to BSOD. And after restart windows shows many error messages of "validation error".
I have a student licensed windows 7 professional.

I had the same problem. I  was installing a Debug Build of Windows 7 on MacBook Pro 15" Late 2013 with a student license and it would die with BSOD while running BootCamp at the end of Windows installation. I solved the probelm by downloading a non-Debug version of Windows 7 Professional with Service Pack 1 and re-trying the installation from scratch. That is, I went back to OS X, launched BootCamp Assistant, erased the previous partition of Windows and re-created it again. After that, I installed a fresh copy of the right flavor of WIndows and it worked flawelessly.

  • No Windows 7 drivers avalible for 2011 macbook pro 15" (snow leopard 10.6.8) ?

Im hoping that you guys could help me with this one. I've run into a brick wall.
Trying to use boot camp to partition the hdd install a windows 7 x64, it seems impossible to get ahold of the drivers i need in windows.
The boot camp assistant splashes me with a option to download drivers, but states after some time "that there are no avalible drivers for your system."
Im lacking the original installation dvd, but found a dvd that is for a macbook pro 13". That helped me with everything but the keyboard and multitouchpad.
The functions that im lacking right now that i have found out is that the touchpad wont accept right clicks, no scrolling and no gestures, also the keyboard isnt lit up, and no functionkeys work. (like screen brightness, volume and cd/dvd eject key)
Im guessing that there also might be some other drivers thats missing, like the possibility to explore the osx disk from windows to share documents between the two operating systems.
Are there any other ways to get ahold of these drivers that i need without buying a dvd?
    Best regards
    Johan

How can I install Windows 8 on an eligible computer?
Use the Boot Camp Assistant. The assistant will partition your internal hard drives and install Windows 8. For more information on Windows 8 installation, see the Boot Camp Installation & Setup Guide.
Can I use an upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8?
Yes. Download and install the Boot Camp 5 Support Software before attemping the upgrade by using the Boot Camp Assistant in OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.3. Alternatively, you can manually download the Boot Camp 5 Windows Support Software here.
When I do an upgrade install from Windows 7 to Windows 8, an "Uninstall USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver" message appears. What do I do?
Do not click on Uninstall. Click the back button and Cancel the upgrade. Download the Boot Camp 5 Support Software by using the Boot Camp Assistant in OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.3, or click here to download them. Then, try the upgrade again. See this article for more information.
After upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8, Thunderbolt devices are being recognized when I connect in. How do I fix this?
Disable the Windows 8 Fast Boot feature to allow Thunderbolt devices to be recognized. See Boot Camp: Thunderbolt devices not recognized after Windows 8 upgrade for instructions.
Is there an OS X version requirement to use the Boot Camp Assistant to download Boot Camp 5 Support Software?
You need OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.3 or later installed to download the Boot Camp 5 Support Software (Windows drivers) using the Boot Camp Assistant. After upgrading, click the Go menu and choose Utilities. Then, open Boot Camp Assistant and follow the onscreen instructions. You can download the Boot Camp Installation & Setup Guide.
Is there a download of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software if I'm not using OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.3?
Yes, you can download the Boot Camp 5 Support Software here.
How do I use the Boot Camp 5 Support Software I downloaded from the web page?
The download file is a .zip file. Double click it to uncompress it.
Double-click the Boot Camp disk image.
Copy the Boot Camp and "$WinPEDriver$" folders to the root level of a USB flash drive or hard drive that is formatted with the FAT file system (see question below for steps on how to format).
Install Windows, leaving the flash or hard drive attached to the USB port of your Mac.
Installation of the drivers can take a few minutes. Don't interrupt the installation process. A completion dialog box will appear when everything is installed. Click Finish when the dialog appears.
When your system restarts your Windows 8 installation is done.
Note: If the flash drive or hard drive was not attached when you installed Windows and was inserted after restarting into Windows 8, double-click the Boot Camp folder, then locate and double click the "setup.exe" file to start the installation of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software.  How do I format USB media to the FAT file system?
Use Disk Utility to format a disk to use with a Windows computer. Here's how:
Important: Formatting a disk erases all the files on it. Copy any files you want to save to another disk before formatting the disk.
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the disk you want to format for use with Windows computers.
Click Erase, and choose one of the following from the Format pop-up menu:
If the size of the disk is 32 GB or less, choose MS-DOS (FAT).
If the size of the disk is over 32 GB, choose ExFAT.
Type a name for the disk. The maximum length is 11 characters.
Click the Erase button and then click Erase again.
Which versions of Windows are supported with Boot Camp 5?
64-bit versions of Windows 8 and Windows 7 are supported using the Boot Camp 5 Support Software. If you need to use a 32-bit version, you need to use Boot Camp 4 Support Software, and you must use Windows 7. 32-bit versions of Windows 8 are not supported via Boot Camp. For a complete list of Windows OS support, click here.
    Model-specific Questions
I receive a "Free up space on Drive C" message when I try to do an upgrade install from Windows 7 to Windows 8 on my MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2012).  Why am I seeing this?
There is not enough free space available to do an upgrade install with the 64 GB SSD configuration. Delete the Boot Camp partition and do a full install instead. See this article for more information.
I see a black screen or distortion when I install Windows 8 on a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012). How do I fix this?
The Windows 8 installer does not contain the correct graphics driver for your computer. You'll need to attach the USB media that contains the Boot Camp drivers during installation to address this issue. See this article for more information.
The volume controls keys (F1 and F2) won't work on my iMac (Mid 2011). How do I control the volume?
Use the Settings Charm to control screen brightness. See this article.
My MacBook Air (Mid 2012) will not start Windows 8, or displays VGA graphics when it stats up. How can I fix this?
Your MacBook Air (Mid 2012) needs an EFI Firmware update to address this issue. Download and install the MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 2.6.
I see a "Windows 8 is not supported on this Mac" message on my Mac. Can my Mac run Windows 8?
For a complete list of Mac computers and the Windows operating systems they support, click here.
    Additional Information
For more information about using Boot Camp, please visit www.apple.com/support/bootcamp.
You want to use apps directly for games, excel maybe and don't have enough RAM and processing, run Windows natively. Want to run light weight, use a VM like VirtualBox (free).
Want to do both, dual boot and run Windows as a guest OS, then Parallels or VMware Fusion.
Most do so to run games. Macs and the MacBook Pro line do tend to run hotter under Windows. Fan control is sorely weak to almost not well implemented so use something like AIDA64 and/or other temp sensor monitoring.
