Graphics layer over video Layer problem

Hello!
we are blu-ray applications developers and we have a problem with repainting graphics layer over video layer. In MHP this problem is solved using the method call repaint() to the HScene. This Method remove all graphics and paint again. But in Blu-ray is not work correctly. When you have a graphics over video, this graphics don´t disappear when you paint other graphics, because don´t refresh the HScene and all the containers get painted over the others.
what is the solution of this problem?

As far as I know, targas can only be RGB. I couldn't find a way in Photoshop to work in YCbCr. I have Photoshop CS, so its pretty old, but even on my work computer, which has CS3, I didn't see anything. Next week I'll be installing CS4, so there might be something in that.
I won't be able to test anything until late tonight, but I'll try several formats to see if they make a difference. I'm wondering if there might also be some kind of option in FCE to convert imported graphics to the correct color space.
When keying graphics over video in your projects, how do you save them(formate,color space, etc)? Ever see this issue?

Is it possible to overlay a PNG over video layer?

This process may be strange but there's a reason for this madness. We are taking h.264 .mp4 videos into PowerPoint then using the Acrobat 9 extended pro add-on and converting this file to a .pdf. There's possibly a need to put a watermark over the video. However when we insert a transparent PNG over the video in PowerPoint then convert it to .PDF the video punches through the PNG. It seems like the video layer wants to be the frontmost even if listed as part of the background in Acrobat. We can go back to the video and do it there but we would have to process the video again so we're trying to avoid that. Any ideas?

Blue haze, layer over video content

Hi,
I recently bought a new mac mini server 2,3 Ghz i7 HD Graphics 4000 (brand new) and expanded it with one SSD and 16GB of ram.
The monitor is a Dell monitor U2413
The mini is connected either with HDMI --> HDMI or Thunderbolt --> Displayport.
Both setups give the same problem.
I have not tried the DVI port yet as I don't have a cable.
When a video is played in a browser (Safari or Firefox) within 3 seconds a blue-ish (purple - pink) haze or layer comes over the video image.
When the video is pauzed, the haze is gone, starting the video again and within 3 seconds the haze is back.
This happens when a video is played in a window in the browser and also in full screen mode.
When I hook up my Macbook Pro Retina with the Dell monitor (Thunderbolt --> Displayport) I do not have this issue.
What causes this problem?

Putting an action layer over a layer with a clickTag element

Hello,
I am doing some research on creating clcikTags. I read a few places that the clcikTag should be on the top layer.
That has been fine, but now I want to loop it and I usually put my actions in the top layer. Will this cause a problem? Am I better off just putting my loop action on the last key frame of the clcikTag layer?

Muse tutorial problems; ridged leaf placeholder graphic nonexistent, YouTube video embed problems

I've just started using Muse and it looks pretty great so far. I've been doing the Katie's Cafe tutorial and everything's worked out. However, when I got to "Adding a lightbox feature that displays video hosted on a third-party server" I ran into some trouble. Specifically, the tutorial speaks several times about a "ridged leaf placeholder graphic." Something I just don't see. Beyond that, I'm finding that what it says the Selection Indicator should say, and what it actually says are slightly off. And, finally, I've been unable to paste the YouTube embee code into the right spot, no matter what I do. It really seems like there's some sort of difference bwteen the muse used for this tutorial and the Muse I'm using.

Sorry for the confusion. There appears to be an error in the tutorial. I'll follow-up with the proper people to get the tutorial fixed. The new version of the lightbox composition does not contain those placeholder images.
You should be able to click on the main gray area and paste your embed code. See the screenshot below:

Problem keying graphics over video when exported.

I'm new to FCE, but I work professionally in the television industry doing graphics/compositing/3d.
Outside of work, I mess around with my own movies and hardware.
I'm cutting together a piece shot with my Canon VIXIA HG20 camera. The footage/project is 720p.
My problem is that when I key a graphic over the video, it looks great while working in Final Cut, but when I export a full quality video, the graphics cause the entire screen to shift levels. The saturation drastically changes the instant the graphic begins to fade on. It doesn't shift gradually with the fade. This is only visible after export. The graphic is rendered. The image is a 32-bit Targa. The levels in the graphic are within the NTSC broadcast color range. I prepped it the same as I've done for years professionally.
I don't think this is a compression issue, because the change happens immediately, before the graphic is even barely visible.
I looked around, but couldn't find anyone with similar issues, but hopefully this has already been figured out by someone.
Any answers or suggestions are much appreciated.

EDl Problems again, exporting video layer

hey peeps,
once agian im having trouble with my edl. for some reason the edl for all the video on my second layer of video reads like this:

with the in point reading the same as the out point any ideas how this happend / why this / how to stop it. as i was very embaressed at the online edit today!!!!

EDLs only carry ONE video track. You need to collapse their tracks down to one, or give you multiple EDLs. And, there are only 2 (maybe 4) tracks of audio. Any more must be contained in the comments in the EDL. I don't know if FCP supports that. If there are more than 2 (or maybe 4) audio tracks, the best bet is to generate multiple EDLs. Finally, no graphic files or titling come across in the edl (well, except as a cut to AUX), so those must be brought along manually.
This is no different than if an Avid editor had to generate EDLs for an online session and not some weird variance for FCP.

You updated Quicktime or your Windows Media Architecture, used a different CoDec in your video, use an incompatible Codec to begin with. Furthermore, you could have upgraded your graphics card drivers, messing around with hardware accelerated playback. Really not clear. you need to provide more info about the matter, even more so, as you use non-standard video player software in your demonstration video and it's unclear, if any other tool based on Windows Media Architecture or QT would play the videos without problems. and please, don't use excessive formatting in your posts, it is bad conduct and very impolite to "scream".

Is there a way to view all frame thumbnails in a video layer?

I'm aware of the "frame animation" option, but video layers are much more convenient. Ever since this addition Photoshop is nearly on par with TVPaint for drawn animation, but my only problem is that even when fully zoomed in I can't see my video layer frame by frame. Does anyone know if there is an option, script, or plugin to make this a reality? It's hard to know where to hold, insert, or remove a frame without being able to see the one coming up next, and even if I scrub through to see I constantly find myself second guessing that I'm in the right spot.

You can flatter video into frames but then I do not think they will be playable. Digital Video is not like a frame animation or even like a movie reel of film. There are actually whole frames only every so often. To be able stream video you need to keep the data rate low so video need to be highly compressed. So whole frame are the exception in between frames are partial frames the part that had motion the parts that changed. To give you some idea if the size difference. Animated Gif only support 256 colors. I took a couple seconds from a cilp my wife shot with our canon 1D Mk IV. 1920x1080 with sound I timed it down to two seconds. and rendered it as a h264 mp4 using Photoshop Video Preset High Quality. The mp4 produced was around 6MB is size had beautiful Color and sound. I then flattened the video into frame layers and was able to make a Frame animation. I save the frame animation all 58 frames 1920x1080 as an animated Gif the file was around 24MB the color awful and there was no audio.

This is a bad approach. Consider what will happen to your
careful alignment
if someone resizes their text in their browser. If you must
place text over
an image, the best way to do it is to make the image the
background of some
container, and then use CSS (margins or padding) to nudge the
text into the
desired location location. You will still have the same
problem, though.

That's how absolutely positioned elements work when they are
not within some
other positioned element. The zero coordinates default to the
<body> tag,
i.e., the upper, left-hand corner of the browser viewport.

Certainly, but you will have to understand CSS positioning to
accomplish it.

We prepared simple Word Press web site. We used a Revolution slider plugin with HTML5 video layer. It works properly on Chrome, Safari, older Mozilla FF.
But we had a problem on PC computers with FF 29.0 30.0 – after reinstall of browser everthing seems to be OK. The slider works. Unfortunately even the reinstallation on Mac computers does not help. There is no visible video on Mac FF 30.0.
We are looking for some information what we can do to solve this problem. Could you help?

Video Layer timeline

I need to create an animation sequence in photoshop cs6 longer than 5 seconds. In previous versions the length of each video layer could be extended easily. Now it appears you need to make each video layer a maximum of 5 seconds. Document settings doesn't resolve this problem. I've found out how to extend the timeline but, crucially, not the length of individual video layers beyond 5 seconds. I believe CS5 and previous versions had this enabled. Can you help?

Sorry but I can't seem to drag the edge of the clip to anything beyond 5 seconds. As I said, I can make the document the desired length I want, but not only does CS6 omits document settings it also appears they now restrict the clip length. Please note, I am creating original animation on a blank video layer and not importing clips. I want to make an animation in a blank video layer longer than 5 seconds.

Content Aware Scaling on Video Layer

Hello,
I hope this is possible because it works really well on still frames but how would I go about applying content aware scaling to a video layer inside PS? Basically I'm trying to use this feature to fake an aspect ratio change where by I have a subject surrounded by a relatively uniform background and I would like to be able to create a protection mask as an alpha layer and have photoshop apply the content aware scaling only to the background(to fill in the empty parts of the rescaled video) and leave the subject untouched.
What I've done is opened a video in photoshop as a layer, created an alpha channel to represent the subject(subject is white, background is black on the created alpha channel), changed the canvas size to the new aspect ratio which obviously created a tranparent frame around the original video frame. I then tried to apply content aware scaling to the video, it converted the layer to a smart object then displayed the free transform handles. However, when I selected my alpha channel as the protection area, the content aware scaling seemed to ignore it and went on to distort the entire frame. Now I tried this with still frame from the same video with the same mask/alpha channel and it worked as expected just didn't seem to do it with video.
The idea, if it would be possible to do this in PS, is to rotoscope the subject roughly in AE and generate a matte pass which can then be used as the acompanying alpha layer of the video so then the content aware scaling can be applied to each invidividual frame.
Is this possible??

No that's not what I was trying to do, I mask the central subject of my frame and as I said it was surrounded by a fairly uniform background(main subject is a rock formation in the middle of the ocean) I want to change the aspect ratio of that frame, so I created an alpha mask to cover the main subject, the surrounding background was not covered in this alpha channel mask. This way when I scale using the content aware feature all that happens is the background(the water) is streteched evenly with lesser distorion(than normal scaling) while the masked main subject is "avoided" with completely no distrotion. I think the key point you missed in my description is that I am in fact creating an alpha matte for only my subject not the entire frame and using that in the "protect" option of content aware scaling.
The result is essentially a frame aspect ratio change that does not sacrifice the resolution around the main subject(because the main subject remains of the same size and PS doesn't have to interpolate any pixels...this is obviously is not the same as just resizng and cropping where the subject and background are streched evenly to fill an essentially larger area of the screen causing "softness"). The result using this method is also much more predictable from frame to frame than content aware filling because it's taking information from the current frame and using is to fill the empty background resulting from the aspect ratio change. I know this works because I tried it on individual still frames from the video then compiled them back in on AfterEffects...thats not my problem. My problem is when you try to natively try to do this inside PS on a video layer(rather than a still frame) it doesn't work and I'm not sure if this is a bug or if video content aware streching is just not supported.I have CS6 Production Premium.

Locked a Black Video Layer and Premiere Pro CS5 Hangs Up

Ran into a problem whereby I have on Video Layer 1 a layer of Black Video about 30 minutes long.
I have 2-4 additional video layers above and about 9 audio layers.
When I locked Layer 1 which has nothing more than a premiere pro generated Black Video layer, Premiere Pro CS5 completely froze up, became unresponsiveand not even able to move the CTI, particularly when I tried to zoom in on the layer. However when I locked any of the other video layers, not a problem. Hardly ever lock layers so didn't notice it before.
Filed a bug report but was curious if anyone ran into this problem.

Timeline preset is DVC PRO HD 60. Using
Windows 7,
Intel 960 3.2GHz,
2 disc Raid 1 system drive,
3 disk Raid 5 for media,
2 disc Raid 0 for media previews
