Graphics memory shows 201MB in dxdiag in G50-45 80E300GYIN

Whenever i check my graphics memory, it sets it amounts to 201MB
I can mail you a snapshot of my dxdiag screen, if that helps in helping me finding out what i did wrong

hi scsanty,
If you have the same G50-45 specs like in this item then the 201MB that you're seing is the video shared memory from the Radeon R4 GPU (this is the integrated graphics on the AMD 6310 APU).
The video memory increases overtime (by borrowing it from the RAM) especially when the system's GPU is being utilized (eg. while using gaphics intensive apps like games) . You can simulate this and observe the graphics memory.

  • Qosmio F750 - How to change dedicated graphics memory to 2GB...

In order to get my Qosmio F750 ready to run some games, I have updated all of the drivers on via the toshiba website and NVIDIA website while also downloading the relevant software. This includes updating the BIOS to version 2.00.
According to the [laptop specifications given on the Toshiba website|http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/computers/qosmio/f750/pqf75a-02y00q/specifications],
I should have the following allocation of memory to the graphics:
    "4095MB Total: 2048MB dedicated memory + 2047MB shared memory"
When I go to check the Performance Information and Tools window, I get shown the following information:
    Graphics
Display adapter type Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000
Total available graphics memory: 1696 MB
    Dedicated graphics memory: 64 MB
    Dedicated system memory: 0 MB
    Shared system memory: 1632 MB
    Display adapter driver version: 9.18.13.1422
    Primary monitor resolution: 1366x768
    DirectX version: DirectX 10
Of course, when I look carefully at the laptop specifications, I realize that the current graphics memory allocation corresponds to the Power Saving Mode i.e. graphics allocation when running on battery power
Normally this would be fine, however, I do not see any change in the info displayed even when I am running on AC power.
I have checked all of my power settings but even when everything is set to 'performance mode', the information displayed stays the same.
I try to look in the system bios to manually change the graphics allocation but no such option exists. Rather all options are set to performance mode...
So my ultimate question is, *How can I change the graphics memory allocation to performance mode as indicated in the system specifications?*
Is this something that occurs automatically without changing the displayed info?
Is there a driver that I have forgotten to update? Has a driver update caused this?
Has a BIOS update caused this?
On a side note, when checking the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, I the directx version is displayed as version 11. So I thought the issue was with the displayed information. But even on the Diagnostic Tool gives me the same info.
I would be very grateful if someone could help me out with this.
    Thanks,
    Omair

Okay I think I get it now.
The Performance Info and Tools Window only shows the information on the Intel HD Graphics 3000.
When the specs sheet says power saving mode it means graphics using only the Intel HD Graphics.
However because of Optimus, the notebook can use either the Intel GRaphics card or the nVidia GPU.
The performance mode in the specs sheet refers to when the notebook is using the nVidia GPU.
The integrated gpu and the dedicated gpu do not run at the same time but Optimus switched between the 2 of them whenever the situation requires it. Whatever it switches to decides which 'mode' the notebook is using. The memory allocations for these 'modes' will match those of the specs sheet.
But any information about the graphics memory will not change as it only displays the info on the integrated gpu.
Well, I can finally understand what the previous posts were referring to and why the posts themselves were pretty short (there wasn't any problem needing to be fixed!).
Thank you for all of your help Randy, Akuma and PauPau

  • Strange issue with graphic memory in Satellite Pro 4600

When I try to open two windows at the same time, the operating system seems to fail. Only option is to restart.
For example: find a page on Google, select the page, and use a link at the current page. Display shows two screens, but no action is possible.
    Operating system is Win98SE?
    Can anyone help me?

It may not be the graphic memory because when something is wrong with graphic component you will usually see artifacts such as dots and lines.
You may try to remove one of the main memory first, (not graphic memory it's not possible) and if that doesn't fix it then,
try to install the win98 again and if that still doesn not fix the problem
it could be your motherboard or the graphic card as you mentioned, which means, in either case since the graphic card is stuck on the motherboard, you will need to replace the motherboard.

  • Total available graphics memory not detected

I was trying to connect my notebook to tv useing HDMI cable, got message - no signal, and it said to check my drivers. I checked display adapter and monitor driver, it says they are up to date.
In performance information and tools it says - total available graphics memory not detected.
In control panel/display/advanced settings - graphics card is listed.

    Hi,
The following link shows its specs:
        http://www8.hp.com/emea_africa/en/products/laptops/product-detail.html?oid=7427730#!tab=specs
    It uses:
    Graphics   Integrated:
      Intel® HD Graphics
And information is right with 64MB of VRAM. System will assign available system RAM to graphics up to max allowed when required.  Please try to hit F4 to send signals to monitor.

I recently bought a HP 15-G009ax after one week i checked video drivers theres two drivers in display adapter
    1. AMD Radeon R5
    2. AMD Radeon HD 8500M
so then i checked video memory going in run and typed dxdiag there display tab checked Approx. Total memory is 4073MB
and when i bought this laptop from flipkart there only 2 gb of graphics memory so i want to know what is this and why i cant see 2nd graphics correct name

    @arbaz ,
Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forums.
I am sorry but I am not understanding what you are asking.  If you see two display adapters you are looking at the main graphics adapter and then the GPU.  The GPU is part of the systems CPU.  One is dedicated and the other is part of the CPU.
So getting back to your question what exactly are you asking.

    Nvidia panel displays complete rubbish.
They also count some system memory with the amount of vga memory, which, with dedicated videocards these days, is to no point, since the card will never be able to use it.
Your card has, like Svet already said, 3072MB dedicated videomemory and thats all its gonna utilize, since thats the amount of VRAM on the pcb.
So your buddies with 4+GB VRAM are just showing off stuff they cant use and Nvidia controlpanel shows numbers and amounts of VRAM, you'll never have available, just like that stupid Windows Performance Index shows some numbers about your system that in reallife mean diddlysquad.
Besides, there arent any 580GTX's outthere with more then 3GB VRAM aboard.
Long story short, dont get all hyped up by numbers, you got what you paid for and there's nothing wrong with your amount of memory on that card.
    Edit:
With my system Nvidia says I got 3071MB of video-memory available, but 1280MB is dedicated, dedicated being the true amount the card wil ever use, since my card has only 1280MB and not 3071MB.
Like I said they count some system-memory with it, although the card will never ever be able to use it, its just to screw people over.

  • LENOVO 3000 N200 LAPTOP graphics memory doesn't exceed 128mb on Windows XP

    i have a lenovo 3000 n200 laptop  model 0769-a58
it is equiped with mobile intel gm 965 chipset " X 3100 "
under windows vista the graphics memory reads up to 384 mb with shader v. 3.0
while when i install windows xp the graphics memory doesn't exceed 128 mb with shader v. 2.0
i already tried the latest graphics drivers from intel.com & the latest bios driver from lenovo.com
i even upgraded the RAM to 3 GB
i would be thankfull if anyone answers my problem

My guess is that it IS a Vista problem, since other devices
work, and you have tried your new devices on a different
    system.
Some one else may have a different solution, but that is
where I would concentrate my troubleshooting.

  • PDF file size limited to graphics memory in Reader?

I've created a form (in LiveCycleDS) that allows for an unlimited number of photos to be loaded into it. I put an image into a subform that is duplicated every time a user clicks a button thus creating an unlimited number of images that can hold photos. I then extended it with Reader Extensions.
I'm running into a problem when I try to load a large number of photos into the form.  It gets to about 47MB of images when it locks-up Adobe reader.  I've been able to bring up other applications after the lock-up and when I switch back to Reader the artifacts of the other application are then displayed within Reader.
What is the practical limit to the size of a file created with LiveCycle?  Is it tied to the amount of graphics memory a computer has?  My machine has 2GB of RAM while my video card has only 384MB.  I haven't been able to figure out if there is a file size limitation.

It's entirely normal for file size to increase. PDFs are much more compressed than print streams. For some printers the print size is almost constant (a huge bitmap), for others, it's a collection of graphical items and the size varies enormously. Rarely anything you can do.

  • How to set on-board graphics memory of my macbook?

I've installed Arch Linux in my macbook pro (2011 early 13inch).
I've upgraded RAM from 4G to 8G, and in OS X, this doubled graphics memory from 256MB to 512MB automatically.
However, in Arch Linux, the graphics memory is recognized only as 256MB which is original value before memory upgrading.
I wonder if I can adjust GRAM to expand it.

Hum, interesting. I have Intel HD4000 and 16GB of ram. I should have quite a lot of video ram, like 1GB.
It is very, very possible that we do have more video ram but what we are looking at is not telling us what we think it is. I was fairly sure that Intel Graphics did all it's video ram scaling stuff on it's own.

When I connect my iPod3 to my Imac, the memory shows 13GB or so assigned to "other" (color coded yellow). What is this "other", and can I clear it?

The "Other" section on your iPod consists of several different things including album artwork, files you may or could be storing on it externally when using the iPod as a storage disk, the iPod's software/OS, as well as corrupt files that are leftover from failed sync operations with iTunes or are no longer recognized by the iPod's software or iTunes. The size of other is usually quite minute, around less than a GB, sometimes a little more (depending on the amount of media stored on your iPod).
In order to clear this space out, you'll need to restore your iPod to factory settings in iTunes.

  • MacBook Pro 13,3 and 15,4 : graphic memory

I would like to buy a MacBook Pro but I'm worried about the graphic memory. On the MacBook Pro 13,3 tech specs I can read:
"NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory"
Shared? Does this mean that the video card hasn't got dedicated RAM?
On the other hand in the MacBook Pro 15,4 tech specs I can read:
"NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics processor with 256MB of GDDR3 memory on 2.4GHz; Intel HD Graphics with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory"
Please could you explain me what does they mean with "shared" memory?
How about performance? Usually NB has a lot more video memory such as 1GB...

As I wrote above, I've been doing lots of work in Adobe CS4 applications using the integrated GPU and *its 256MB of "shared" RAM (not really shared, because only the GPU can use it)*. I have 4GB of RAM installed, and I'm getting my work done just fine in 3.75GB of it.
If nothing we can say will reassure you, then you'd better buy some other computer.
Precisely. It appears that the integrated graphics engine has 256MB of dedicated memory available, but it's advertised as "shared" because it comes from the (main) system memory. In reality, it's not the 256MB of graphics memory that's being "shared", it's the 4GB of system RAM that's being shared
And 4GB is plenty of RAM.
Also consider this: the discrete graphic cards available on the 2.4Ghz and 2.53Ghz 15" MBP come with 256MB of dedicated RAM. Only the top two configurations have 512MB of RAM available (the i7 15" and the 17" models).
    You should be fine.

  • Display Driver Error And Less Total Graphical Memory

Hi Guys , Today i have Installed Win 8.1 x64 . Having many Trouble With it , Before I have Win 7 - it Gives Me 1500+MB  of Total Graphical Memory And Have no Problem In Installing Supported Drivers But When I Installed Win 8.1 it Gives Me only 225
MB of Total Graphic memory And Zero Dedicated And System Memory And When I Install A recommended and Supported Graphic Driver It Say me That - "Your PC Does Not reach To Minimum Requirement"
    Guys Please Help Me................!!!

    Hi rdaman,
According to your description, this issue seems to be caused by the wrong graphic driver.
1.Is the driver installed downloaded from the manufacture?
If it`s not the manufacture`s driver, I recommend you to download the driver from the graphic manufacture website and then install the driver manually.
    To install the driver manually:
Open the Device Manager from the startscreen and right click your graphic
Update Driver Software \Browse my computer for Driver Software(navigate to the driver you have downloaded)
2.Meanwhile I recommend you to update the BIOS driver from the machine manufracture.
3.Considering you suffer many troubles with Win8.1, I recommend you to search the model of your machine from the manufracture website and check its compability with Win8.1.
    Best regards

  • 9400 Graphics Memory Allocation

For the GeForce 9400M chip is it possible to increase the graphics memory allocation if I were to upgrade the system memory?
In other words: Does the GeForce 9400M chip and Mac OS Leopard+ support dynamic memory allocation for the graphics memory?
If I increase the system RAM from 2GB to 4GB will the 9400 graphics memory allocation increase from 256MB to 512MB?
(The Intel graphics chipset supported it)

No. The 9400 uses 256 MBs of RAM, no more.

That's almost 880 MB of video ram or almost 1 GB of video RAM, which is normal for that card as it's rated at 1024MB of RAM.
