Graphics not smooth with WinXP upgrade

I just upgraded from win98SE to WinXP. The problem I am having is that I get a stutter when doing 3d graphics, specifically with Counter-strike. Win98 was MUCH smoother. I am running at 100hz refresh, vsync on or off makes no difference. I'm using det 30.82. Are there any tweaks to fix this. It especially happens when going around corners, or just turning around. It looks as if it's dropping frames, but according to netgraph it stays around 99~100. It resembles what happens when there is hdd activity in win98, but here there is no hdd activity when this happens. TIA

Did you disable Antialiasing in your graphics card options?
When you install new drivers it is enabled by default.
Select option, "Manually Select the Antialiasing Mode"
and then tick "off (no antialiasing)"
Also make sure you install the newest chipset drivers for the nFocre v2.29 from MSI.
100 Hz Vertical is too much and will put more stress on your graphics card, 85 Hz is fine.
Since Windows XP in games by default use 60Hz vertical use NVRefresh Tool program to customize your Monitor Refresh.

Go to System Preferences > Universal Access and down in the Display: section make sure that the Enhance contrast: slider is all the way to left to Normal, or more to the right for less Contrast.
Universal Access> may be Accessibility in 10.8.x

Remote not working with WinXP 64

I have a X-FI Platinum card with the front module and remote. Under WinXP Pro everything worked fine. I have since upgraded to WinXP 64 bit Pro and the remote does not work.
I have installed the latest driver for WinXP 64 (At least last weeks driver) which went OK. Soundcard seems to work OK. I have a 5. speaker setup and I get sound from all speakers. Before there was the createi've audio console that was in the system tray, but that doesn't seem to be there with WinXP 64.
Is there another download that I need to do for the Remote to function ? I am not sure whether the remote software gets installed with the 64 bit drivers or not. I know some people have turned to alternate software to control the remote on WinXP 64 bit edition successfully. I am sure you can find out what I mean by searching these forums, I am not allowed to say any more than that. Hope that helps?

I have Norton 360 and it's not compatible with the upgrade to Firefox 4? How do I get Norton activated now for the internet?

I received a notice that I should upgrade to the Firefox 4. After I did the upgrade I then got a notice that Norton wasn't compatible with the the upgrade. How do I go about getting my Norton Security to work with this upgrade. So right now I have nothing in which is protecting my computer while surfing. Nothing against your product BUT I want what I already had/have to be the one protecting my computer. So what needs to be done so I can have my existing computer security to work with this upgrade. Otherwise I'll go back to the previous version which did work with Norton.

Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

Norton Login is not working with the upgrade from firefox. Not too happy about this

I upgraded to the new firefox. I have a lap top with vista windows.
Norton Login does not work with this version. Can you please explain to me how to fix this problem. Much preferred the last version of firefox.

IPod and iTunes not compatible with WinXP

It appears that the iPod (I have a 4GB nano) and iTunes (I tried what was on the CD, as well as the latest download of 6) are not compatible with Windows XP Media Center Edition (patched to the hilt, all the latest updates installed).
Installation works fine but iPod updater does not terminate cleanly and the iPod nano does not get rebooted properly, and although iTunes sees the iPod when it is plugged in, it does not recognize it from plug-in to plug-in (it's supposed to remember the name of the iPod device, and not re-prompt you to register, etc.).
Also, when attempting to copy MP3 files to the iPod, it appears as though they are copying but they do not wind up on the iPod no matter how hard you try.
Windows 2000 SP4, however, does not have any problems with the iTunes or iPod updater software and everything seems to work just fine.
It would behoove Apple to investigate the compatibility problem that their software has with Windows XP Media Center Edition, and fix it as soon as possible.

When i startup itunes it says:
"The software required for communicating with the ipod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall itunes to install the Ipod's software"

When I run the ipod updater it gives me "ipod service error"
What can i do?

both my ipod and itunes software are the Updated September 23, 2005 versions

MBP15 1.83 GHz Will Not Boot With 3GB Upgrade

I'm trying to increase my MBP's ram to the 3GB limit. This is a 1.83 GHz 15" model.
It will not boot with 2GB & 1GB sticks of identical mfg & specs. It will boot with one or the other...
Any ideas?

according to the Apple specs for the 1.83GHz mbp's - 2Gig of memory is the limit......
512MB (single SODIMM) of PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 memory on 1.83GHz configuration; and 1GB (single SODIMM) on 2.0GHz configuration; two SODIMM slots support up to 2GB
Crucial Memory says the same.

When I try to update or install Firefox, I get the error message that the platform 6.0 is not compatible with the upgrade. What gives?

PowerMac G4 (AGP Graphics) not booting after processor upgrade. Help!

I just bought a Encore/ST G4 SG4-1600 1.6 Ghz (Duo) and trying to get my PowerMac G4 (AGP Graphics) (originally 500Mhz) to run with it.
I have upgraded the firm ware to 4.2.8f, and restarted the PMU on the Logic Board.
I have also checked that my logic board is two core compatible.
The computer just sits there after it's been turned on, the the motherboard is lit up and the all the fans are running, but it stops there, no screen, tone, or anything. Will just sit there with out ever spinning a hard drive.
If some one could help me get this going, please help!

This happens everytime I try to run the app. Could it be because it's OS X? I had to intall OS9 to update my firmware.
It says it's made to work on a PMG4 (agp) so I don't understand what's happening.

Java Plug-in not working with WinXP SP2 Registry Key Missing Error Pop-Up

I have WinXp PRO with SP2 and the Oct 12 Security Update Patch for SP2 loaded and I went to my Control Panel and saw that the JavaRuntime Environment 1.4.2_04 icon was missing and when I went to click the Java Plugin icon to Open it, I got the following message in a Error Pop-Up window:
The system cannot find the registry key specified:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java pPlug-in\1.4.2_04\JavaHome
I then went to Chage Access Program Controls and when I clicked on the Change box for the program, it wanted me to re-install the whole environment.
Prior to doing this, and potentially screwing up my MS winXp environment, I went to the Sun support page for Java Plug-in and I did get the dancing elmo appear as they said I would but I noticed that my environment was MS VM, not Java and that I was out of date and a newer update was avaliable.
The downloads page for the plug-in states clearly that it supports WinXp SP1 and NOT SP2.
SO, my question is, do I need to re-install anything or wait till the whole SP2 issue and java with (BITS) issue gets resolved and just use the MS VM engine during my browsing time? Is there a workaround and what impact will this have on my system? I am not developing Java Apps but am a Power user in Windows who is wondering if applets and general browsing might be easier, faster and more fluid if the Java Runtime was enabled as opposed to the MS VM solution?
Any ideas or thoughts on this very timely issue would be greatly appreciated as I see others have tried to post related issues but none that succinctly combines what I have asked for here in this post.

Photoshop mix files not appearing with iPhone upgrade

Hi,
i have a new iPhone and the Photoshop mix files are not showing up with the app. I checked the usage from the old phone to the new one and the data is there. It just isn't being accessed by the app. The phone upgrade went from iOS 7 to 8. Also the app seems to know my login, it just isn't importing my data, which is there.
is there anything I can do?

Unfortunately neither your's or ManiacJoe suggestions worked. Investigating further if I remove all Library Filters it appears amongst all the other photos. However if I then filter by keyword the original file appears but not the amended TIF file. This is despite the fact that the filter tells me that there's 39 photos but there are only 38 showing. Something is not getting updated at the right time.
Any other ideas?

My calendar is syncing fine between my Macbook and MobileMe, but not with my iPhone or WinXP?? Can I manually instruct the iPhone to sync? I have on WinXP.

I have MS Office 2007 ... On the iPhone, by disabling Calendar sync and then enabling it again, the iPhone is now in sync. But the PC isn't. I tried repeating the disabling/re-enabling of Calendar sync on the PC, and closing Outlook.exe in Task Manager, but no luck ... yet.

Hello, My name is Oudom. From Cambodia. I'm using BlackMagic Cinema Camera 2.5k. and my Premiere Pro CC does not seem handle (Playback) the 2.5k Raw file smoothly. m not sure if i miss something installed or my spec doesnt good enough

Sorry for late replied, I'm using Decklink but I didnt use DeckLink to send video out to an external monitor, just using VGA to send video out.
