Graphing colors in Photoshop?

Long time user, first time poster.  I'm curious if there is any way to graph out a series of color swatches in Photoshop? The way you can create a bar graph from a series of columns in a spreadsheet software, for example.  Reason I'm asking, is that lately I'm doing more and more fine tuning of skin colors on photo closeups, and using the color sample tool to measure HSL across skin surfaces.
I've used gradient mapping in some occasions to smooth out color tones in certain areas.  Having some visual tools to graph out things like saturation or luminance across a series of sampled points would be very useful imo.  Sometimes I do this already in a spreadsheet software, but that can get time consuming.
thanks,
-d

Photoshop won't create labelled graphs, but Extended can export histogram data instead of you taking notes while measuring with the eyedropper or color samplers.
Histogram data for each channel of each selected region can be exported to CSV files. There's an optional filter plug-in that converts between RGB, HSB and HSL, putting the HSB or HSL values into RGB channels.

  • Suddenly unable to print in color from photoshop

Just put in new print cartridges (both b&w and color) in my HP officejet printer and I suddenly can't print color from photoshop. I'm using a mac os x 10.8.
I seem to be able to print color from other sources such as directly from the internet, or from preview. When I go to Print in photoshop  if I try to select Color Matching ColorSynch and Vendor Matching are greyed out and unselectable. Not that I ever had to go there before but that seems to be the only difference between the print dialog boxes in photoshop and the other sources.

You should contact Microsoft for Mac Support  and/or post in their forums.

  • Colors in Photoshop all wrong but OK in other apps. (For example "Whites appear yellow.")

Q: The colors in Photoshop are all wrong. They have a neon look or are discolored with a blue, red, green or Yellow cast. I look at the same pictures in other applications and they look just fine. How do I fix this?
A: Recalibrate your monitor using Adobe Gamma (OS9) or the Displays Control in System Preferences (OSX). Photoshop uses your monitor profile to display your images other apps don't. Be sure you start the recalibration using a fresh monitor profile (sRGB or the profile that came with your monitor for example). If you try to recalibrate using the old corrupt profile you will still have a corrupt monitor profile and your color will still be bad. Also, if you are using OS 9 make sure you are using ColorSync 3.0.4. The 3.0.4 patch is available on the Apple web site.
See also support document 319456, "Colors Are Incorrect (For example White Appears Yellow)" at http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/319456.html. The document is for Windows, but it may be useful for Macintosh.

Thanks. But it looks like in all my frustration, I wasn't  sure  my original call for help had posted, so must have  submitted the same question again.
But I just had a new thought on the problem. While reviewing a story I received from another website,  I noticed that the photos attached to the article  looked  a lot like  what I described  in my  message. It made me wonder if I have a software problem at all . . . or if it's the screen on my Mac that needs recalibration!
It only took 2 minutes to find a website that discussed it — with sample screens to help determine if that was what I'm dealing with. Since a screen supposedly showing a mix of numbered, grey boxes looked totally white to me and I could only see the white numbers on a screen that supposedly contained boxes in varying shades of black, I think I might be on the right track. Just not sure, since I had to reach the bottom of the page before spotting the pitch for a product that supposedly will recalibrate  for me. I'm not sure I want to tackle recalibration on my own, but may call the Mac Geniuses at our local mall  and see  if my hunch is right . . .and if so, what they would charge to do it for me.
BTW, if it sounds like a calibration problem, do you think moving my computer  from one desk top another (just 5 feet away) could have caused it? I'm not sure, since it wasn't on my mind at the time, but I think that's roughly when I first started to notice discrepancies in color.

  • Question on scanned images and coloring in Photoshop

I have some sketches from my drawing class that I would like to scan and color in Photoshop. I scan the sketch
but I can't add color. I've tried 'lassoing' a portion of the drawing
but the paint bucket still won't add color.
What am I doing wrong? Please help.
    thanks.

The Paint Bucket tool may be the wrong tool, or at least you may have its Threshold set to a low value, as it replaces pixels only of a similar color to the one you click on.
It may be more direct to just select the Brush tool and set up a large brush to paint solid color in the region you selected.
If you want to get into more advanced functionality, which will allow you to correct mistakes or continue to adjust your colorizing for example, perhaps you will want to create a new layer and paint on that layer.  Without knowing your goals it's hard to advise further, but you might also want to learn more about Layer blending mode "Color" vs. "Normal".

    Michael,
You might also be able to customize the style sheet associated with the report. The TestStand Help provides some information about how to customize ATML or XML style sheets to change report colors based on the status of test steps.

  • How do I print accurate colors with Photoshop CS4 and Yosemite?

I recently upgraded to OS 10.10, Yosemite. I can no longer get accurate colors printed for photos from Photoshop. I have Photoshop CS4 and I use an Epson Stylus Photo R2400 printer. I am able to use Photoshop for everything but printing accurately. I downloaded all recommended drivers for the printer, reloaded profiles for the printer and even tried a trial of Photoshop CC. Nothing resolves the problem. My prints look kind of solarized. Black and white photos have green areas where there should be black. Please help.

I thought my problem could be Lightroom is in ProphotoRGB color space, and my printer is Adobe1998 color space.  To test this, I changed the color space of my patches from prophoto to AdobeRGB. I checked my colors in Photoshop, and made them match the RGB number I specified.  It was interesting to note that (128,128,255) had a noticeable shift to purple.  the other colors shifted slightly.  Now I printed the test page with Lightroom managing color and the printer managing color.  Both images came out similar.
This study came about when I was printing some images, and the sky had a definite purple shift.  So, I took the image into Photoshop and converted the colorspace from prophoto to Adobe.  Printed the image, and the image came out much better.
So the question now is, do I need to convert each image I print in Photoshop, or am I doing something wrong in Lightroom?

  • IGS Pie Graph - colors issue

    Hello all,
I'm displaying an IGS Pie graph in a Web-Dynpro application.
Since in a pie graph the different parts of the pie are of the same series in different elements,
I couldn't find a way to set different colors to them using the chart designer.
When choosing a specific color, all the parts appear in the same color.
When choosing an automatic color, they appear in different color,
but then I don't have control over the color.
Is there a way to define the pie so that every part is of a different series?
Otherwise, Is there a way (by using the chart designer or by code)
To achieve an IGS pie graph with the colors of my choice?
    Thanks ahead for any help,
    Anuj

  • Sudden problems printing in color from photoshop?

I just put in new ink cartridges in my HP officejet printer and suddenly I'm unable to print color from photoshop. I can print color in other programs but just not photoshop. I'm using OS X 10.8 and an old photoshop version CS2. It worked fine until I changed the cartridges.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Okay, that's odd. Well, most of the major things in Photoshop are similar between Mac and Win.
As for the reset, I am wondering if it works with CS2 or not. Edit: yes it does work on CS2. Please try the other Option key on your keyboard. Also, be sure the print menu is the active window.
First try closing print and re-opening while holding the spacebar. Also be sure the printer's drivers are up to date.
The next step is a Photoshop preference reset: Hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Opt+Shift as you initiate Photoshop's startup. Select "yes" when asked if you would like to continue with reset.

  • Windows Vista Photo Gallery displays incorrect colors? Photoshop?

    Hi all
I have two PC's running Windows Vista that I work with and both have photoshop CS3 installed, but for what ever reason on one of the PC's the Windows Photo Gallery application displays really desaturated colors when views jpg's and the like (the other PC's displays them fine).
I've googled and haven't yet found out a quality solution, lots of info on simply combining and replacing drivers and the like and nothing really set in stone from Adobe, or Microsoft etc
    Any help would be great

Are both your monitors hardware calibrated? Is Windows Photo Gallery a fully colour managed application?
If the answer to one or both questions is no then you cannot expect similar results.
If the monitors are calibrated and Photoshop has identical colour settings then the images should appear similar on each computer.

  • Problem with blue color in Photoshop CS4 after calibrating monitor

Hi to all! I would appreciate if someone can help me!
Before some days I calibrated my monitor with Pantone Huey Pro and after that I find out that photoshop doesn't show blue color corectly. I create a blue (0,0,255) page and it looks a bit like violet, while I don't have any problems with red and green (which are perfect), or with other programs (other programs display blue and all colors correctly). But when I save this blue page and open it with a different program I see the real blue color. So the problem is that during editing in Photoshop blue color isn't correct, it's a bit violet.
Can anyone tell me why blue color doesn't behave properly in Photoshop? Is there any setting I should change in Photoshop Color Settings?
I use sRGB on my camera, and sRGB in Photoshop (North America General Purpose 2, sRGB IEC61966-2.1, U.S. Web coated (SWOP) v2, Dot Gain 20%,  Dot Gain 20).
    Thanks for your time!
    George

    Thanks for your quick responce!
I update Huey and Photoshop and did the calibration again but it didn't fix the problem. Is it possible that the calibrator doesn't work properly?
My monitor isn't very new, so I don't think it has wide gamut display.
When you say that "if your display is not truely sRGB" you mean that maybe the profile created Huey isn't correct? I have done many times the calibration and the result is always the same.
I think that Paintshop uses color management, too, shouldn't it display the same wrong blue color if Huey's profile is wrong?
How can I check if Huey works properly? Maybe I should try it on a different PC?
    Thanks for your time!!!
    Best regards,
    George
