Graphite SE 466 firewire display assembly

Hello, I was wondering if anybody knew if the display lid, from a non firewire graphite 300, would work for a graphite firewire se 466?
Graphite G3 (firewire) Mac OS X (10.3.9) I have a crack on my screen from it falling down.
Graphite G3 se (firewire) Mac OS 9.2.x

IMHO you may combine the plastic casing parts as you like, you can build up a multicolored Clamshell.
The only thing that differs: There are two different types of bottom cases for the Firewire and non-Firewire logicboards (an extra hole for the firewire port - the logicboards have the same layout)
Please note that the color of graphite ibook 366MHZ special Edition (non-firewire, Feb 2000)is not identical to the 366MHZ and 466MHZ Second Edition (Firewire, Sept 2000)
The look of the first one is translucent/grey, the second edition is white/grey (They called it "redefined graphite")

  • Graphite Clamshell 466

Hi, I have a Graphite Clamshell 466. I purchased the machine from ebay to replace my bluberry clamshell. The machine powers on, I can tell because I hear the hard drive spinning. Also I can hit the caps lock key and it lights up. The problem is, I have no display & no startup chime. I have pushed the reset button above the keyboard and it didn't help.
    Any suggestions?

Was the laptop sold as "working"? If so, you may want to contact the seller.
As for the problem, the display may be bad. The startup chime will NOT sound if the volume is muted before the computer is turned off - maybe this is the case.
Another thing you may want to try is seeing if there is an extra RAM module installed - if so, it may be bad.

  • Will more recent MacBook Pro 15' Display Assemblies be compatible with my mid 2009 MBP?

My question will be geared towards folks who have experience doing self repairs on their MacBook Pros but I do welcome all helpful input. It breaks my heart to say that my MacBook Pro was dropped and now has a broken LCD/LED screen with a dented Display Housing(Lid) but the Front glass Display is fine. It is currently acting as a desktop with an external monitor. I am looking to do some self repairs as the price they charge at the genius bar isn't worth it for the older model and I am comfortable enough to do the repairs myself. I've been doing some research and it is possible to get the pieces individually(Not through apple directly) but now it becomes a compatibility game. In short, I have a mid 2009 15' 2.53GHz macbook pro but I will post a link to my tech specs.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP544
My two options for self repair are either to
    A) Buy an entire Display Assembly which I can swap out with my broken one      OR
    B) Buy a new LCD/LED screen and Display housing
I am leaning towards option B because the cost to replace the LED display is much cheaper but I am having no luck finding a relatively cheap, non damaged 2009 15' Display Housing. Some online stores that do sell it go for ridiculously high which in the end would make option A cheaper. I don't actually need to replace the Display Housing for the computer to work but I can't stand to look at the dent so I'll be doing the replacement.
So back to my original question. When searching for parts or an entire Display Assembly, would more recent models such as 2010, 2011, 2012 or 2013 parts be compatible with mine? Or were all models created differently and must be replaced with same year/model parts?

Yes.  Any 2.5" 9.5 mm thick SATA HDD, SSHD or SSD will fit and be compatible with your MBP.
    Ciao.

  • Are All PowerBook G4 Display Assemblies swappable?

My PowerBook G4 1.5 Ghz display is cracked and needs to be replaced. I don't want to send it into a shop for the $700+ repair. I would like to attempt replacing my display assembly with a USED display assembly.
Does any one know if i can replace my display assemby with another PowerBook G4 17 such as a 1.0 GHz or the 1.33 or 1.67Ghz?
I plan to buy a brain dead 17" on eBay with a functioning display and swap it out. This is not my main computer and just a hobby project that i plan to give to a friend if I am successfull.

ifixit.com says a screen module will work in any of the 17 inch Powerbooks (except the high-res 1.67ghz one)

  • Are 17" Non-Unibody MacBook Pro display assemblies interchangeable?

    Hi all,
I have a 17" MacBook Pro (A1229) and the steel frame inside the display is bent, so it doesn't open and close reliably. However, I found a 17" display assembly for model A1151 on eBay. Can I use the older display with my newer model?

Good question, but I suspect the model numbers must be consistent.

  • Macbook pro retina a1502 display assembly cost in india

My macbook pro retina a1502 screen broke. It has a small crack on the top right corner. I wanted to replace the screen only but as it is not available I want to buy the display assembly to replace the broken screen. But I don't know how much will it cost in india....please help

Don't worry, there is nothing wrong with your computer. I have the same issue, and it is a bug. Sometimes a restart solves it. Sometimes and if you use subtitles, you will see the first line being displayed but the second one not, etc.
I have reported that to Apple and there is hope for a fix.

  • Problem swapping Display Assembly on HP Pavilion dv6000

I have an HP Pavilion dv6000, Windows Vista.  It has a stuck pixel producing a red line on my screen.  Fortunately, I have another dv6000 with a bad motherboard that I can cannibalize for parts.  Unfortunately, I am stuck on trying to remove the Display Assembly.
Specifically, in the Maintenance and Service Guide, on page 5-34, the book says to remove the two screws holding the display assembly.  The screws are in the corner, so I removed all four screws.  However, the display assembly will not budge from the computer.  Also, on page 5-35, the book says to disconnect the display cable.  I cannot figure out how to do that.  It will not budge.  Further, it says to remove the microphone cable.  The only other cable that is next to the display cable is the cable that was connected to the switch cover.
Can someone give me some guidance on this?  I would really appreciate it.  Thanks!

    Hi:
    1. Install this driver for the coprocessor.  If it does not install the driver automatically, manually install it as follows:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-55781-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
Go to the device manager and click on the coprocessor needing the driver.  Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver.
Select the browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.  That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp37730.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.  Then reboot.
2 & 3. Install this driver for the base system devices (card reader).
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-55777-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
    4. No such thing.  All BIOS flashes must be run in Windows and only with the supported operating system (Vista).
If you make any attempt to flash the BIOS when running any other operating system but Vista, you can take your notebook straight to the trash bin.
    5. Your notebook is not supported by HP for W7, W8 or W8.1, so I imagine there is a driver problem of some kind or another with which I would not be able to help you with as there is probably no solution to it.
You can try manually installing the Vista graphics driver from your notebook's support page in the remote chance that may get the hdmi to work properly.
    6. Video adapter upgrades can't be done.

Will the display assembly for hte A1260 work with a Macbook Pro 15" model A1226?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
The inverter cable controls the backlight and brightness--you might try reseating this cable on the logic board before replacing the display. You could have a bad connection or a bad cable.
Also, be aware that the Model A1226 is one of the ones that has the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT video chip which is covered by this Apple program:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377
You might want to have your Mac tested for this problem before proceeding with a display replacement. If you have this problem, the repair will be free.
What happens on an external display? If you get good video, it isn't the NVIDIA problem, and you can go back to troubleshooting your display and its connections.
    Good luck!

  • Video tutorial for removing entire display assembly with the apple logo on white Macbook?

Hi, my Macbook has a bad display screen and I've been using it hooked to an external monitor for a while. I would like to swap out the display from another parts Macbook. I searched Google and all the videos I saw shows the display assembly already removed and the LCD panel within the assembly being replaced. I need to change the whole assembly though as there is a crack in the plastic near the apple logo. Anyone know of any video tutorials to do this like on Youtube or somewhere else? Thanks

iFixit have good step by step guides with clear photographs, if you follow this link you can select your model of MacBook:

  • 366MHz Graphite iBook (w/ FireWire)... Does it exist?

I've noticed an auction on eBay where the seller listed a 366MHz Graphite Clamshell... with a FireWire port. I, personally, have never heard of this model and, ironically, the one picture that is missing from the auction is a side-shot of the ports to verify the FireWire port's existence. I have the suspicion that the seller may have mis-listed a 366MHz first-generation iBook SE or a 466MHz second-generation SE, but they claim that they are an apple-certified technician and those are the specs, although the unit is in storage so they can't verify them.
So then, my question: Has Apple ever produced the standard second-generation (366MHz, FireWire) iBook in the graphite color?

Before buying from eBay, meet the seller. You never want to get something that expensive sight unscene.

  • Display assembly macbook pro

my macbook pro 15 inch late 2008 display is separating from the back cover assembly-help?
I heard apple is aware of this defect?

My machine isn't under warranty anymore, but at the time I initially came to the store, it was under the 'guide' for consumer law in Holland. It states that you have to notify the dealer with your problem within 2 months of occurance and since I was even in time for the law to apply the first time, Apple cannot claim I have no right to service concerning my problem.
Even so, apart from laws and regulations, which Apple is violating now if they deny my request for help, I think that someone who pays nearly 2000 euro for a computer should get a little more service and can CERTAINLY assume to expect high quality standard for product and service.
I don't think Apple would like to promote themselves as a company that produces goods that will last you 2 years tops. Also, it is rediculous that an Apple dealer claims it will cost nearly half of the original retail price of the computer because it is "nearly half the product we need to replace".

  • Display assembly cracked/broken on my macbook pro

The metal that aparently connects the display to the clamshell hinge on my Macbook Pro 15" (late 2008) has broken after a fall of about 1 foot from a coffee table. The display still works, as does the computer in general. Does anyone have any experience in this area? I have found some directions online about how to replace the display, but am having trouble locating a replacement.

google it, http://www.powerbookmedic.com/MacBook-Pro-15-Display-LCD-Screen-p-16893.html first google hit i got, i think you can find them for even cheaper. supposedly it is not too hard to swap them your self, but i have never done it and i have no guess at your technical abilities vs what is required.

  • IBook 466 SE - FireWire quit working

    Hello,
Well, on an otherwise perfectly funtioning Graphite iBook SE 466, FireWire suddenly quit working. I have run AppleJack, OnyX, 10.4.8 Combo Update, reset nvram and all, zapped the PRAM, and performed a PMU reset. After all this, FireWire drives still don't even show if I boot from my Tiger disc. Any ideas?

I know that in most desktop macs, you can reset the firewire controller when the ports fail. This procedure goes like this:
    a) Shutdown the computer
    b) Unplug everything plugged into the computer including the power cable
    c) Let the Computer sit for about 10min with no power and nothing plugged in
After 10minutes, only plug in the basics, (Keyboard, monitor mouse) and turn on the computer
    d) The firewire controller is now reset.
In an ibook, i'd unplug it, then remove the battery for 10minutes. Since the basics are always connected, just make sure there is nothing connected to your ibook while its off and while its turning on.
    Good Luck

  • IBook graphite 466 SE survived a year in Iraq....

I am a SSgt in the United States Marine Corps and I just recently returned from a 1 year tour in Iraq. I bought my clamshell off ebay and had it shipped to me in Iraq. I then upgraded the ram to 576 and installed OS X tiger on it... I was a military advisor to the Iraqi Army and used the clamshell every day to work on admin issues with them. Last March my hummer hit an IED (Roadside Bomb). The clamshell was inside the hummer in its matching mac case. I was the gunner and sustained minor injuries. The clamshell however survived with only a minor hairline crack above the ethernet port. All the marines could not believe how durable my 6 year old clamshell was. Since then I upgraded to a 120 GB hard drive and it still runs awesome. The clamshell iBooks are DEFINELTY combat proven!!!!!!!!!

Great news! A year is a long time out there. I truly hope it was a Graphite and not a KeyLime; I can't see KeyLime suiting the USMC image.
