Gray border around screen

My dog did a little of the old soft shoe on my keyboard and now I've got a translucent gray border around the edge of my screen. Anything obscured by the border is unclickable. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Check your Expose & Spaces settings..

  • Expand document window to always have Nice Gray border around image

Is there a command, or an Apple Script, or a hack of some sort (which I can assign to a function key) to EXPAND a document window so that I have a 100 pixel (or whatever) gray border around the image itself (not IN the image).
I am processing around 4,000 pictures, and it would save me hand-drag-enlarging Every Single Window, especially as I often miss the grow-tab in the lower-right edge of the window bezel...
    Thanks!

"Just keep pressing the 'F' key..."
Yes, this is what I said above, and if you have multiple documents, it's a REAL PAIN.
Perhaps if the 'F' key had only two modes, instead of four, it would be acceptable.
As it is now, with multiple documents, the 'F' is just as bad as dragging the window enlarge tab.
I've been asking Adobe for this for at least five years now. Given that many tools are best used when started OUTSIDE the image, I cannot understand how they could ignore this request !
(Rant: Unless, of course, if user requests are treated internally as insults by Adobe. It sure feels that way)

  • Black border around screen

Hello, I'm not entirely sure when this started but I have an annoying 1/4" black border around my screen. I think it has to do with scaling, but can't find an option within the integrated Intel HD Graphics to change built-in monitor.  This notebook has Intel HD graphics 4400, and is running the most current Intel Graphics HD and WIndows 8.1. Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

, Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums.  The first step you should try is a system restore back as far as you can go.  This will change your configuration back and remove any updates that may have caused this. HP PCs - Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 10,8) Here are a couple other links that may be of help. HP Notebook PCs - Troubleshooting a Notebook LCD Panel Issue (Windows 8/8.1, 7) And. HP Notebook PCs - Resolving Problems with Notebook Displays (Windows 7 and Windows 8) Please let me know how things go. Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

  • Cracked border around screen.

    Hello,
Due to my carelessness (e.g., constantly carrying around my macbook pro with the screen open), a crack has developed in the lower left hand corner of the border surrounding the screen (not the actual screen itself). Now, every time I open or close the screen, the crack strains and it looks like it is going to snap.
Is this border around the screen just a piece of plastic that has no connection to the screen itself? Either way I am trying to figure out a way to support the crack (other than duct tape?) so it doesn't get strained any further. Hopefully, I have described this problem adequately, any help would be appreciated!

Hello, besides the two screws in the lower corners, that border is just clipped in for cosmetic reasons.

You can see how it connects to the display assembly here.

  • White border around screen after iOS update

    Hi all
I just updated my ipad 3 to the latest version of ios and now i have a faded white border around the whole edge of the screen with the corners being rounded?! I have turned the device on and off and its still there?!? Has anyone else had this problem?!?

I agree with Nickshred. There just appears to be a small blank area all the way around the border now. I would say maybe 1mm area where the screen is no longer stretched all the way to the edges. I am positive it wasn't there before I updated, I would have definately have noticed it. It is really noticable when you are viewing the phone in direct light. When the sun is reflecting off the of phone, you can actually see the main screen is a black background with the icons on top of the black background. Then there is this small one millimeter edge all the way around that basically looks like the color of my LCD monitor when it is powered off. It is now just an unused portion of the screen. I keep wanting to stretch it or adjust it back to the edge.

  • Border Around Screen

So the part around my screen (the black border) isn't totally snapping in place for some reason. It hasn't since I can remember having my macbook. I still have applecare on it. If I take it to the genius bar can they look at it or do they only do hardware / software problems?
Especially in the upper left corner, I can feel it pop in and out of place. If I try to pop it back in place nothing happens and when I try and fix it I just it it constantly clicking.
Does anyone think they would take care of this or at least look into it for me? It takes me about 35 minutes to get to my apple store one way, so I thought I would try and ask here first before taking the trip up. Thanks!

I had the same problem where the case didn't snap shut perfectly. I happened above the screen near the camera and below the my right wrist near the trackpad button.
I didn't take it to a genius bar because it was a thirty minute drive, but I did take it to an authorized Apple Repair Center that was only five minutes away from my home and had no lines or any crowds. It was nice to get away from noise and hubub of the mall and the Apple store.
They fixed it up overnight at no charge. Everything was covered by Applecare!

  • How to get rid of shadowed border around screen on MacBook Pro?

Just wondering if anyone knows how to get rid of this shadowed border on the screen of my macbook pro. I think my young daughter made it appear when she was striking various keys at random on my computer when I was not there. The cursor does not work when its over the shadow (i.e. will not depress the red 'x' button to exit a window and I have to drag window out from under shadow to close it).
It also appears in the middle of screen when airplay is turned on. (See screen shots below)
I have been unable to find any other discussion on this issue.
Above is screen normally and below is when airplay is turned on. Please help, thanks.

    Hi rose_hedley,
I'm wondering if you have restarted your computer by now and if that helped.
That border is from Exposé with Show Desktop enabled (F11).

Need to temporarily clear the clutter? Press F11 and watch all your windows scamper away.

  • Getting rid of gray border around jpeg overlay?

I have an imported jpeg image as my main image. I am overlaying another jpeg image logo. Around the logo is a grey border that is not in the image as it stands alone.  What is that and how do I get rid of it?
    Thanks

If you don't have Photoshop, Preview has an "Instant Alpha" feature... Just press and drag your mouse, then hit delete. Save as a PNG/PSD/TIFF, etc...

  • Gray border/frame around layer when dragging

    Hi all,
i've got a very annoying thing going on here.
And i'm not able to get rid of it.
I use Photoshop CS5 recently and suddenly there is a gray border around my layer when i want to move/drag it.
It doesn't matter if it's a shape, raster layer or any kind.
When i want to move/drag a layer, a gray border/frame appears around the layer. When i stop dragging, the border/frame dissapears again.
In the screenshot you can see what i mean. Thanks, i hoppe someone can help me with this.
For me it's annoying coz i use guides, smart guides as well and  especially when i have layers with gray border effects, this 'feature'  is very disturbing when i align or position the layer.
I tried  everything to get rid of it. Turned Magnetics of, all extras off, all  animated effects in prefferences are off, and still that freaking gray  border around my layers.

  • White Border Around LCD

    Hey guys,
I noticed this a couple weeks ago when I was on vacation. When my iPhone screen has direct sunlight shining on it, it has a white/gray border around the LCD (e.g., when the phone is unlocked on the home screen). I was wondering if this was normal, cause I never really used my iPhone in direct sunlight before. Can anyone test this out to see if their's is the same? Thanks!

Yes, mine is same as yours.
It seems to be the edge/frame portion of the screen that is not usable.
I think it's kind of unique. But not at all odd or bad looking. (This is only noticeable in direct sunlight.)

  • IPhoto adds ugly black border around imported screen grabs

When I grab a picture of an application screen (using cmd + shift + 4 and then hitting the space bar over the application), I get a screen grab that opens fine in Preview, but when I drag/import it to iPhoto, it adds an ugly thick black border around the whole picture. Why? Is there any way to stop this from happening?

Missed the Command....... I have used that command and don't get the border except when viewing the file as an thumbnail in the Finder.
Do you have a MMe account? If so upload the screenshot file to the Pictures folder and use the following code to add it to a post:
You'll get this: Click to View Photo. It's a screenshot of the screenshot and it's presentation in Safari.
So, I can see immediately from the photo in the link above that you have not used the key combi I am talking about - was that intentional?
Anyway, here's the link, and you can quite clearly see the drop shadow.

  • White Border around the screen?  1/2 inch...

I have a white border around the screen, very noticable with any dark background...
    Whats the deal with this?
Could this cause the display brightness to have to be turned up all the way just to get a good solid picture...?
    This is not acceptable?

The lack of information, feedback, confirmation, etc that apple is famous for is exactly why I am deathly afraid of ordering the new 17" mbp. I have been stealing my girlfriends' peecee to catch up on emails and websites since I sold my old 15" mbp a couple months ago.
I was just about to pull the trigger and buy the new 17" mbp until the "delay", again no specific information given out by apple. Some people were charged secondary charges and had ship dates of the day of the announcement of the delay - which would logically dictate that there were plenty of machines that had to be un-packed, cracked open and "updated". So with all the unibody related issues, all the 9600 related issues, and all the screen issues of the 15" led, I am not sure i'll be able to play guinea pig for apple... yet again...

Bottom line, I'm hoping for a C86 or C87 to show up. Maybe that's hoping for too much.

I have an iPhone 5 and just recently when I opened the camera there is a big black border around the screen causing the picture itself frame to be smaller I don't know what I did to cause this or what I can do to make it go away can anyone help/

First off, try a reset of the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, see if the problem persists.
