Grayed out view option

I'm trying to change the color background in my Documents folder from white. I can do this in all my folders and tried using "use as defaults". Even tried from another used account. Opened Documents and choose show view options from the toolbar. The background choices is grayed out only in Documents even though it shows the color I want. This is on the 27inch iMac i5 running 10.7.2. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Well I found a solution. I tried what you suggested and had color background on another user, but didn't when I returned to original user. When I changed the arrange by to none the background selection ceased to be grayed out. If I choose arrange by name (or anything else) it goes back to white background and grayed out option again. Thanks for the input.

Graying out the option INITIAL SCREEN on MFBF transaction -reg

Hi,
We face issues with users keep on changing their initial screen of MFBF transaction where in which they encounter issues .
for example for doing assembly backflush , some times with out knowledge they select component back flush radio button and click on the option initial screen , then for them on MFBF component backflush only selected by default .
with thsi background if they try for processing assembly back flush back ground sessions they encounter error and then we have to analyse and find the problem with screen of MFBF
we would like to take out the option of initial screen setting from the users
we could not do it through any of authorizations
any idea how to deactivate it ?
can it be done user wise or for the whole transaction it has to be done ?

Grayed out "Redirect" option in Mail.app

I am wondering why I can only sometimes redirect messages, as opposed to forwarding.
I have an email sent to me at work and I wish to redirect it, so that the sender and formatting are unchanged but I receive it at home. Sometimes I can, but sometimes I cannot, i.e., "Message --> Redirect" is grayed out. What is the pattern for when "Redirect" is allowed or not?

Aperture Import destination grayed out when importing from iPad

I'm trying to import a bunch of photos from my iPad. I want to dump them all in one project in Aperture, but after selecting the iPad from the import source list, it grays out the options to select the destination. It also grays out the option to uncheck the Autosplit events. I do not want to do this import and then have to go back and merge 20 projects. Any ideas?

Grid View Badges Option Is Grayed Out

I am using LR 4.2 (on Mac) and have been using LR since 2.0. Yesterday all the badges on all my photos disappeared in Grid View. I didn't change any prefernce settings, or update that I am aware of. When I go to View > Grid View Styles> Show Badges, that option is checked, however it is grayed out. On the Mac that usually indicates it is not a viable option.
I've restarted the program but the problem remains. Any suggestions about how to bring back badges?

Go to View Options>Grid View tab.
Ensure "Show Grid Extras" is checked, then select either Compact Cells or Expanded cells.
Ensure you select the items you want to see under "Cell Icons", e.g. Flags, Badges, etc.
Then UNCHECK as many of the boxes as you want under Compact or Expanded Cell Extras, to remove the info top and/or bottom on the grid cells.

View as AVCHD option grayed out in Prelude CC 2014

I'm trying to ingest some C100 footage into Prelude but since it records in AVCHD, I need to use the "View as AVCHD" Option. But it's grayed out. Why ? Help !

I am also having this issue. All "View As" options except "File Directory" are grayed out. I did keep and copy the entirety of the file structure intact.

Where has the "Clean up" "Clean up by" option gone for organizing folders? I just upgraded to OS X Maverick today and noticed it was no longer a option when right clicking; also, it is grayed out in the view tab.

Hi i had this problem myself what you need to do is..
right click and press 'show view options'
then go to the arrange by and sort by options near the top and change them both to none
click save as defult at the bottom
then when you right click the clean up by options will now be there

I have a problem with iPhoto on my iMac. Under the view site, I am unable to get to the photo size function. It is grayed out

There is no way to increase the size of a photo image once it's been scanned/taken. If you want larger images from a scanned image scan it at a higher resolution, dpi.
Additionally, with the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution. We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you mean by "view designation"?
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

Outline and Styles option grayed out when composing message in mail

When composing an email message using mail 6.2,I'm unable to view any styles options under the Format option in the toolbar as it's grayed out along with the Outline option. I do have the rich text button selected in my "New Message" toolbar in Mail and the text I want to apply the style changes to are selected.
I need to be able to use options like outline,superscript,subscript,etc. that are available in other email programs like Thunderbird without having to compose my email in TextEdit first,then copying and pasting it into Mail.Permissions have been repaired,and I have all of the latest Apple updates installed. Attached is a screenshot showing the grayed out areas in Mail.

In the five weeks since I posted the question,yours is the first comment(no comment from Apple).
I was able to find a work around for this issue by scouring the web for ideas,so this wasn't my solution.

While the example they make is for highlighted text,follow the guidelines to create other text styles as well.Once you've done that,they're available in Apple Mail.Just be sure to create a name for the each new style.

After upgrade to 10.6.2 the" entire message" search option grayed out

Just upgraded to t10.6.2 but now in the mail when searching for a mail the entire mail search option is not available anymore it is there but it is grayed out it can not be activated. That was the beauty if mail.
on the other hand the To do button now works again

You have not said, but I would guess you are using an IMAP account? If so, then might it be that the selection in Mail Preferences/Accounts/Advanced has gotten changed to not keep copies of messages (and/or attachments) for Offline Viewing? The Entire Mail search will be grayed out when copies of the messages are not stored locally.

Issue is regarding the issue output option getting grayed out.
unable to view print preview or issue output option as its grayed out in billing document.
can anybody guide to resolve this issue at the earliese.

You can very well see the output
When creating an invoice select goto on menu bar then Header --> output
In output you can either use standard output type for billing that is RD00, or the one you have configured.

View PDF after export - grayed out

I JUST upgraded from CS3 to CS4 and now this box is grayed out in my PDF export options. So I now have to launch the PDF manually instead of it being automatically launched after being created. Am I doing something wrong, or is this option no longer available?

Well, I guess it was Halloween and some ghosts got into my update because now I am able to choose the "View PDF after Export" option. It was not available when I tried to edit the PDF preset but it's available once I actually use the preset to generate a PDF. Go figure.

"Create outlines" grayed out for text-- what is the RIGHT option??

So here's what happened. I created an image for a print template in PS (which I use all the time) and then used file-place to bring the image into the AI version of the template. (I don't use AI very often...) I knew that it might not be a good idea to bring in the text, so I didn't. Instead, I recreated the text in AI, selecting it with the text tool to change font size, etc. Each of the three pieces of text is on a separate outline. The next step is supposed to be to convert the text to outlines, but you guessed it, the "create outlines" option is grayed out.
The text is Titre font (I tried a few others and it didn't seem to make any difference.) The version for both PS and AI is CS5.
I've spent a lot of time searching for the solution online, but the problem is that there seem to be about a gazillion different possible options for what might work. Given the parameters here (created text in AI, selected with text tool, using separate layers), which is actually the RIGHT solution??
This artwork is for prizes for a writing contest (custom mugs), and it's supposed to be in by Wednesday-- HELP is greatly appreciated!!

No, if you have three separate instances of Type, as it seems, for each of these you have to make sure it is selected in its entirety.

IMovie '08 Clipping Options Grayed Out - How Do I "Trim"

I have successfully imported a variety of HD video content / events from my Sony camera. I can view it, select portions of it and drag it into the project window, etc..
However, I've got all this extra content stored in events that I want to delete so it's not taking up space on my hard drive. When I select an clip in the library, the "trim to selection", "split clip", etc. options are all grayed out.
How do I do this very simple task?

OK, I think I figured it out - was not very intuitive though... But I still have a question..
Basically, what it looks like I need to do is to "select a clip in the event section" and then "reject it". I can then "send rejected clips to trash" which I believe deleted the content from my hard drive..
One question about this..
If I "reject" some content, is there any way to "un reject a portion" without using "undo"? For example, say that I select some unwanted content here and some unwanted content there and then decide that I want to keep a sub clip within one of the clips that I rejected. How can I select that clip and "unreject it". I was able to apple-z to undo ALL my rejections, but that's not exactly what I'm trying to do.
Any ideas?

"MS Excel" option is grayed out

Using WebGUI, I need to download report output to excel.
I select the report from a customized report tree, and click execute. I then enter parameters and click continue. At this point, the report's output is displayed. With the output in view, I attempt to use the menu option:
Menu => Extras => Spreadsheet => MS Excel
However, the option "MS Excel" is grayed out, and I can't continue. All office integration is grayed out. Lotus123 is not available, and all options under Menu => Extras => Spreadsheet => Word Processing are not available.
What is causing the MS Excel option to be grayed out? The same functionality works fine from SAPGUI.

Hi Kevin,
there may be other options. If the report is ALV based, you can choose the export button from the ALV toolbar. There you have the options "Local file" and if you are on 6.40 SP 15 or higher "XML export". With "Local file" you can save the report i.e. to a excel file in the file system of your PC. It saves the data but not the visualization. Therefore it might be required to do some tune. The "XML export" option is more sophisticated because it presaves the visualization.
