GRC 10 ALERT MONITOR: FALSE/POSITIVES BIAS CALL TRANSACTION

Hi, everybody. I had an Issue related with GRC AC 10 alert monitor that is reporting that some users triggered SoD risks TR54 , TR01 and TR03 originated by transactions: ML81N - service entry against purchase order and FB05 - post with clearing. Both transactions are not available for those users because they don´t have the authorization profiles in the UMR or available in dialog mode.
Nevertheless we observed that both actions (ML81N and FB05) were invoked by a "CALL TRANSACTION" instruction from another program report.
I believe that this is a false positive alarm that were triggered even though the users have not assigned roles or functions of risk.
I will appreciate your comments.
Best Regards.

IT GRC Manager

1) How do I not alert on first failure but initiate an immediate retry in 30 seconds and if retry fails then alert.  This prevents false positives and is a feature that products such as uptrends performs as default
SCOM has no that kind of feature
2) How do I alert on with just one alert of transaction failure instead of each of the components of the transaction monitor failure.  Example our first failure threw 10 alerts encompassing each part of the transaction
a) Right click web application transaction Monitoring object --> View Management Pack Object --> View Monitors
b) Expanse the web application transaction monitor --> entity Health --> Availability --> Web Application XXXX
c) Open the monitor properties of Request X -XXX and uncheck "Generate alerts for this monitor"
3) How do I create an uptime report to show monthly and quarterly uptime for the website based on the transaction monitoring.
a) go to Monitoring workspace --> Web Application Transaction Monitoring --> Web Application State
b) select the web application transaction entity and click Availability Report task on task pane
c) Select the report period and run

  • False Positives with GRC AC 5.2

    Hi,
I actually have been working with GRC AC 5.2 (Compliance Calibrator) and we encountered several problems with false positives, working in the risk analysis.
¿do anyone knows how to solve this problem? ¿do you have documents or links to help?
    Thanks,
    Ricardo.

    Thank you Alpesh for response.
In fact, i have several problem with false positives, but with transactional level. For example, i have a user with pfcg and su01 transaction. The configutation of profiles in SAP r/3 system do not allow to user involved in this, to execute both transactions in end-to-end process, i mean, the user have a transaction vía s_tcode object, have some other objects related with pfcg and su01 transactions, but he doesn´t have the values that allow to a transactions work properly. Then the Compliance Calibrator informs risks that it doesn´t exists.
It seems that is a ruleset configuration problem in the CC, then my question is, ¿the standard ruleset detects properly these problems?
Let my explain the reason that causes the problem.
We have been working with personalized ruleset, for customer-request. For that reason we look the usobt_c table and we form the ruleset-->functions in CC so that this functions were equal to usobt_c table. We did that because the standard ruleset shows false positives, such as first example of this post.
    Thank you very much,
    RCL.

  • Alert Monitor Issue

    Hi APO Experts,
I have a Planning Book/Data View which has 4 macros generating standard status alerts for the same book/view under different situations. Now when i create an  over profile and an sdp profile for this book/dv and do the redetermine alerts after ruuning those macros in bg. Am not able to see all the alerts listed in the alert monitor even though scenario calls for the alerts to generated.
    PB/DV --XX
    Macro 1-- for KF1
    Macro 2 -- for KF2
    Macro 3--for KF3
    Macro 4--for KF4.
After running the macros in the bg, when i load the selection in the pb, even though i see that for all the kf values populated in the pb should have created the alerts. i am not able to see those in the alert monitor. Please help me , where i am missing the link in setting up the alerts for the same planning book/dv having multiple macros generating the alerts.
Kindly help me, as we r in the testing phase and am not able to find  a fix for this.
    Kind Regards,
    Sanjeev

    Hi,
First of all , Assign the SDP profile in the interactive planning book by the dropdown menu and check by running the macro in interactive planning book that whether the alerts are generated in interactive view.
If the alert are generated in interactive view , then the issue could be due to default macros not included in your backgtround running step. Include the default macros in the background job as the first step.
If the alerts are not generated in the interactive view itself, then check for below points:
    a) If the KF values fits into condition defined in alert macro ?
    b) Are the KF , alert condition and planning book / data view defined inside the alert step same as required. Sometimes if you copy the alert macro from other planning book / DV macro then inside the alert step , the pb/dv remains old.
    c) Are the PB/DV defind in alert profile same as required ? Is there any threshold maintained for alert ? Is the selection profile correctly maintained inside alert profile ?
I hope it should resolve your issue.
Let me know if it helps.
    Regards

  • Middleware Alert Monitor

    Hi,
I have a query about the MW Monitoring Cockpit (SMWP). In the Monitoring Tools section there is an entry called 'Status of CRM Middleware Alert Monitor'. Within that there is tree structure with one entry called:
CRM Middleware BDoc-Msg. in the Flow\...\Status of BDoc Messages
Our system has hundreds of error messages in there for BUPA_MAIN and BUPA_REL. But when I double-click them there are no errors in the BDOC status summary. Can anyone tell me what these errors are? They don't seem to be causing any problems but I would still like to get rid of the 'Red' entries in the cockpit.
    Thanks.

    thanks surya.
But that is kind of the question I am asking. When I go to those transactions everything is green and OK, it's just in the cockpit that these BDOC 'errors' are showing.

  • Alert Monitoring and Notification Mails

I have a requirement to configure CCMS in XI system in such a way that the alerts trigger mails to the outlook users.
This is required in J2EE engine also.
Please tell the T-Codes and Steps.
    Thanks

    Hi Asad,
When your CCMS is not configured you can only do individual monitoring.
To configure the same you must decide which system is to be the central system for the SCR.
To know what SCR is and to know more about it please go through this link.
    https://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/1e/ec9e38f0d92936e10000009b38f8cf/content.htm
After doing the same please follow these steps.
Log on to the system that is to contain the central repository.
    - Choose CCMS ® Configuration ® Alert Monitor, or call transaction RZ21.
    - Choose Technical Infrastructure ® System Repository ® Set Repository Role.
    - The system displays the Set Repository Role in Central System Administration screen. Choose Central Repository.
And also go through the following links. This I guess will help you solve your problem and I guess it answers your question.

  • Questions on Alert monitor

    Hi,
I have few questions on alert monitor.
    1. If we create an alert and have it as default macro, does it display in interactive planning book without a alert profile assignment? or should we assign an alert profile to see alerts in planning book. I remember that we just need alert profile if we need to check the alerts in a separate screen for our convenience.
    2. Is alert profile assignment specific to a user? If that's so, then how we assign different profiles to different users? any transaction? or are they specific to a selection or planning book or version?
    3. In Application specific alert profile, in SDP tab, under "SDP - Database Macro Alerts", I see few alerts types apart from standard ones. These were actually our previous alert macros. How did they get created like a alert type?
    4. I created a simple macro with change color of cell to red if a condition is satisfied. Also raise an alert for that and assigned it to default. When I go back to the SDP94 screen and run the macro, my cells are highlighted as red whenever the condition is satisfied but when I click on the alerts icons, I get a blue information message "No alerts exist for your selection". When I click on the icon, it gives me a window saying " Internal error analyzing SDP alert".
Can somebody help me understand what's going wrong?
    Thanks.

I think you can select that standard type.
However since it was SAP delivered, we chose not to, and instead created more line items in SPRO with text such as "Alert Message 1" etc. We created numbers ranging from 9001 to 9010. While defining the custom alert, under alert type, it showed up these numbers that were setup in SPRO. I would assume that just like you pick up 9001, you should be able to pick up 4100 or 4101 (alert type numbers) which is the standard status alert. If you run out of the numbers, you would definitely need to add more in SPRO settings. Remember the alert text is picked from SPRO, where you can change and make it more meaningful so that users can do sorting on those alerts.

  • How can you distinguish a 'false positive'?

The IPS generated an alert, SMB Remote Registry Access Attempt. How to investigate the alert? I ran a couple of spyware programs on the host and found some cookies-generaly clean. At what point is the alert resigned as a false positive?
“Triggers when a client attempts to access the registry on the Windows server. Microsoft tools like REGEDIT provide the ability to access a servers registry over the network. There are several hacking tools that also provide similar capabilities. Every attempted access will cause an alarm to be sent. An attacker can cause serious damage to a computer system by changing the registry.”
    appInstanceId: 403
signature: description=SMB Remote Registry Access Attempt id=5579 version=S264
    subsigId: 1
    marsCategory: Probe/Host/WinRegistry

You should start by looking for documented benign triggers:
    https://intellishield.cisco.com/security/alertmanager/ipsSignature?signatureId=5579&signatureSubId=0
In this case, the benign triggers should tell you what you need to know.

  • Cellular signal becomes false positive

Everything works fine, except after a while the cellular signal becomes a false positive. By this I mean the upper left corner continue to read "Verizon 4G LTE" with a few bars, but there's actually no signal. All apps that require the Internet doesn't work. It's an easy fix though — in Settings, the Cellular Data has to be turned off, then turned back on. And by "after a while" I mean when it falls into sleep mode after a FaceTime session, then awoken. Not sure exactly how long afterwards. Not sure if it's consistently after one nap or longer. Not sure if running other apps would do the same thing.
    Question is:
    Is this normal?
I can imagine the upside is that you don't waste data in a prepaid data plan like when background apps continue to run.
The dreadful downside, however, is that any incoming FaceTime call cannot get through.
If this is NOT normal, is it a common glitch/bug/quirk? And how to fix it?

You can't begin measuring velocity until it is positive unless you have already been measuring velocity.
The solution is to always do the measurement.  Evaluate it with a >0.  In the true condition, then do whatever it is you want to do.

  • When we have to go for session method, when we have to go for call transact

when we have to go for session method, when we have to go for call transaction method if i have a 3000 records in flat file. which is better? why

    Data Transfer
During the process of data transfer, data is transferred into the SAP R/3 System. This transfer is from an external system to SAP R/3 system. Whenever you transfer data from an external system into an R/3 System, you can use data transfer because it is installed and regularly transfers data from an external system into an R/3 System.
As discussed, with the help of BDC, you can transfer the required data from a non-SAP system to an SAP system. For this kind of data transfer you are required to write an ABAP program. This ABAP program would help to export the concerned data to a sequential dataset file. The data in this file has to be stored. This should be stored in a format, which is acceptable to SAP batch input program. But, to transfer data from a SAP system to another SAP system, you can take the aid of RFC or CPI-C.
SAP application supports the data transfer of numerous SAP business objects. The said data transfer program specifies the data format definition, which is necessary to import the data into the R/3 System. There are three methods available for transferring data:
    Direct Input:
In this method the SAP function modules execute the consistency checks. However, there are other means of checking with the help of screens. The Direct Input Method has considerable performance advantages.
    Call Transaction:
In this method you can check the data consistency with the help of screen logic.
    Batch Input Session:
In this method data consistency is checked with the help of screen logic.
    Direct Input Method
Among the methods of data transfer through BDC, direct input method is the one that is used, especially in case of transferring large amount of data. In order to enhance the batch input procedure, the system offers you with the direct input technique.
There is a distinction between the batch input technique and this technique. Unlike batch input technique, this technique does not create sessions. Instead, it stores the data directly. Moreover, it does not process screens. The data has to be entered directly into the corresponding database tables. The system calls a number of function modules which execute necessary checks, if any required. In the case of errors, the direct input technique has a facility to restart the entire mechanism. However, if you want to restart the entire mechanism in case you faced an error, then direct input programs must be executed in the background only. One has to use program RBMVSHOW or Transaction BMV0 to maintain and start these programs.
    Call Transaction Method
Call Transaction method is another method used for Data Transfer. In this type of method your program will use the ABAP statement CALL TRANSACTION USING in order to run a SAP transaction. In this type external data need not be deposited in a session for being processed later on. Instead, the entire batch input process takes place inline in your program.
Here, the data transfer program must convert the data that has to be transferred into the SAP system. This is as per requirement by the SAP data structure or the transaction which is using it. It is to be remembered that a conversion of the data types may be necessary at different times during the process.
Suppose there is a data type mismatch then you have to convert the data types to type C. In this regard the data transfer program should be capable of exporting the data in SAP format to the sequential file. At the time of uploading the data into the SAP system, the BDC program reads the data from the abovementioned sequential file.
    Batch Input Session Method
This is the third method for data transfer. If you use the batch input method to transfer data, then you should remember that an ABAP program has to read the external data which is to be entered in the R/3 System. Subsequently, it stores the concerned data a "batch input session." The batch Input session records the actions which are required in the process of transferring data into the system. This can be done by using normal SAP transactions.
As soon as the program generates the said session, you will be able to run the session in order to execute the SAP transactions in it. Moreover, you can start the session, and at the same time, can monitor a session with the help of batch input management function. For this you have to choose:
System à Services à Batch input. Moreover, you can have the session run in the background processing.
    Writing a Data Transfer Program
If you want to write a data transfer program, you have to follow the steps mentioned below.
Firstly, you will analyze the structure of the existing data. Subsequently, your job is to specify the conversions, which are essential to fill the SAP data structures.
Secondly, you have to generate the SAP data structure. In case the program is written in ABAP, you will require only the required tables in the concerned program with the help of TABLES statement.
Thirdly, you will have to initialize the SAP data structure.
Fourthly, fill the structure with data, performing any conversions and error checking that are required.
Finally, you will write the sequential file. In the SAP system this sequential file is typically required for making the data available to the batch input program.
    Batch Input Method
Batch input method is a type of data transfer method. It is used for bulk data transfer; it is one of the primary ways by which data can transferred into the R/3 System. This method is not for near real-time data transfers.
There are various typical uses of batch input. One of the ways includes the one-time import of data. This import of data is from a legacy system into a newly installed R/3 System. In addition to it, another typical use is for periodic (i.e. hourly, daily..., and so on) transfers of data. These transfers are from external systems or legacy systems which are still in use into R/3 system where all enterprise data is consolidated.
The R/3 applications deliver different programs for batch input, which are ready to be used. However, in some cases a customer has to write his or her own batch input program. This is required in order to convert the concerned data from a legacy System or from a proprietary format into an R/3 data format.
The process flows for a batch input are discussed below.
Data Transfer Decision-Making: It is with a decision to transfer data from an external source into R/3 that the process of batch input begins. It is probable that the external source may be a legacy system that is being replaced. A one-time bulk data transfer is foreseen in this regard. Alternatively, the external source may be an external system that is to remain in use. In this case, a regularly recurring bulk data transfer is foreseen.
Setting up Batch-Input for Data Transfers: If R/3 standard one-time or regular data transfers are required, then by means of customizing settings in the R/3 Customizing System in SAP ASAP set up will occur. You must set up custom batch input procedures by hand, which means the system administrator must schedule the data conversion program that creates the batch input session. The system administrator and the batch input programmer must determine the following: how frequently data is made available from the external system, how frequently the conversion program should run, and whether the conversion program runs in R/3 (ABAP program) or in a host system (external program).
Processing Batch Input Sessions: When a batch input session is processed, then the actual transfer of data into R/3 takes place. Little attention is required in processing of batch input sessions by the system administrator. Usually, the starting of batch input sessions is automated by the system administrator. If necessary, the administrators can also start batch input session explicitly from transaction SM35.
Checking Batch Input Sessions: For a system administrator the routine activity is to check daily or more frequently in transaction SM35 whether all batch input sessions have been completed successfully. It is the schedule for running batch input sessions on which the schedule for checking sessions depends upon. For doing this check the R/3 System provides easy-to-use batch input management tools.
Analyzing Errors: It is the duty of the system administrator to analyze the problem if one or more transactions in a session end in errors. Usually, the assistance of the affected data entry specialist or department for this analysis will be needed by the system administrator. In the situation where the problem was caused by incorrect data conversion or incorrect generation of the batch input session then the programmer who wrote the data conversion program may also need to be involved.
Error Handling in Batch Input Method
It is found that most problems usually fall into one of the following two categories discussed below.
In this case either required data is missing from the batch-input session or invalid data has been included in the session. Errors in the data conversion program or the presence of unexpected types of data or incorrect data in the legacy database are the possible external causes of this type of problem. Within R/3, the causes for this type of problem include incorrect or incomplete customizing in an application. For example, a legacy data type may not have been foreseen in the check table entries made in application customizing.
This case mainly includes technical/programming problems. The data is entered by a batch input session by running R/3 transactions non-interactively. Therefore, a typical technical or programming problem is the incorrect identification of one of the data fields in a transaction. Thus, the conversion program may not fill a required data field or may have provided invalid values.
    Conclusion
I have gone through the details of batch data communication and various methods used to transfer data. One can make use of BDC to transfer data from a SAP to SAP system. In addition, it can transfer data from a non SAP system to SAP system too. I have discussed the various methods of BDC and the error handling in the respective methods.
    Thanks,
    Shankar

  • Call transaction in update task

  • XI Alert Categories in CCMS alert monitor

We defined an alert category through ALRTCATDEF and we generate alerts using  SALRT_CREATE_LOCAL in the Graphical and Java mapping. We would like these alerts to be visible in CCMS alert monitor in addition to XI alert inbox. We have done config specified in the SAP documentation to get the RWB alerts in CCMS alert monitor, but only the alert categories for which alert rules are defined in RWB are visible, at the moment. IS this because we don’t have an alert rule for the alert categories called by  SALRT_CREATE_LOCAL,we are not able to see them in CCMS? Is there a way to get around this problem and get these alerts also in the CCMS ?

  • ALERT MONITOR

    Hello
I have configured the Alert Monitor, Alert is triggered, the message comes on the external mail.
But I have 2 questions related to the Alert Monitor.
    1) Explain what the appointment of the following fields in the t-code ALRTCATDEF:
alrtcatdef -> Properties -> Max. No. of Dels
alrtcatdef -> Properties -> Expiry Time in Min.
If I understand correctly, these two parameters make it possible to limit the number sent to external e-mail messages to one Alert category for a specified period of time?
If so, I have this option does not work, it is ignored.
That is, point out in t-code ALRTCATDEF: 3 posts in 5 minutes. 10 generating error messages. I get 10 messages per mailbox.
(Error is generated by running a report, calling class PROXY, which obviously causes an error).
How to limit the number of outgoing messages to external mail Alert for one category for a specified period of time?
    2) When an error occurs in the JDBC adapter (eg: "ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into (" PI "." MY_TABLE "." FIELD_1 ")") can not get data from the container (t-code ALRTCATDEF):
    SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT (Data Type - CHAR70)
    SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRLINES (Data Type - ALPF_STRING_TAB)
However, other containers, normally return their contents.
In t-code: alrtcatdef -> Long and Short Text -> Long Text (E-Mail, Fax) wrote the following:
    Error in Adapter Engine: &SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT&.
Full text errors in Adapter Engine: &SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRLINES []&.
How can I put in an error message JDBC adapter?

I know and use, but it has many disadvantages.

The fact that SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRLINES reflects more complete information about the error, I know. But I did not receive any information from SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRTXT, and SXMS_TO_ADAPTER_ERRLINES.
Containers returns NULL, while the RWB in Message Monitoring error is displayed.

  • Simple doubt in BDC  Call Transaction Method

    Hi Friends,
When i try to call vk13 transaction and pass the screen field values for the second screen and execute it it is displaying properly. But when i try to pass the different value in the bcddata internal table it is changing properly but in the screen it not updating that value.Alawly the screen fields are taking the values passed the first time. But in the internal table which we are oassing to the calltransaction it is changing correctly but not in the corresponding screen fields. Why it is happening so. Can any one help me out of this problem.
    Thanks in Advance.

I am not passing through the selection screen . It is like iteractive report. when i select the particular line in the list output then the screen fields should take the values from that selected line. First time when i select the line it is taking properly.
But next time when i select the line the content of the i_bdc_tbl is changing correctly but when it enter in to the transaction it is not taking the values from the i_bdc_tbl. Simply it is displaying the screen fields with the old values. It is not updating the screen fields with the values from the i_bdc_tbl. Why the screen fields are not replaced with the value of i_bdc_tbl? Why it is not getting refreshed with the new values?
Just i am posting the bdc portion of my code here. So you can help me out on this.

  • LMS 4.2.2 DFM still not possible to disable Duplicate IP false positives?

I found one discussion about Cisco Works 2.6 where it is pointed out that duplicate IP alerts cannot be disabled in LMS.
Now I have a installation with 2 core switches, one has all VLAN Interfaces up, the second one the same interfaces with SAME IP addresses in shutdown state.
DFM still recognizes these similar IP configuration on two boxes as duplicate ip situation, but it shouldn't because they are all shutdown.
Is it possible to disable these false positives in DFM?
