GRC 10 Print Version -Export to PDF in User Interface

Hi Experts ,
There is a functionality for getting pdf files generated for most of the reports in GRC 10 user interface elements .but in all the screens while generating the pdf via print version we are getting communication failure  as follows :
Print Version Communication Failure : RFC Destination SALV_WD_EXPORT_PDF does not exist.
What could be the reason, export to MS excel worked fine . We are on NW 7.02 SP08 and GRC SP05.
Cheers ,
Dev. Parab

Dear Parab,
This is a general requirement.The reason why you are getting the communication failure error  is because the print version for generating ABAP ALV is not set-up.
The flow is : The system (GRC here)uses the RFC connection SALV_WD_EXPORT_PDF to call a portal service >the portal service uses Adobe Document Services>the system uses RFC to return the PDF document to the WD ABAP ALV
and displays the document.
For your NW version and SP level , please implement SNOTE  1413938 - WD ABAP ALV -creating print version.
The  Web Service Destination for Adobe Document Services (in SAP NetWeaver
Administrator) needs to be set-up as explained in note.
Also see  IMG > SAP Netweaver >AS> Setup Printing for Web Dynpro ABAP ALV .

    Whenever I print or export to PDF a document with superscripts or subscripts, it deletes them.
    I'm doing a chemistry degree so as you can imagine, there are a lot of missing superscripts or subscripts through my text!
    I just tried updating my iWork suite to newest version but the problem still persists.

    This bug has been around probably since the beginning of Pages 5. Here's one such thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5854946.
    With regard to using MathType with tables in Pages 5+, there's another Pages bug that affects that. Please read our 2 articles about using MathType with Pages (and Keynote, and Numbers):

  • Font is smaller when I print or export to PDF

    Dear all,
    I have a strange problem when I try to print or export to pdf my .pages document.
    I use FontAwesome.otf in order to have some nice icons but when I print the document this icons are smaller then the document.
    I also try to make them bigger but they get reduce anyway.
    Screenshot from the pages document
    Screenshot from the printed or exported pdf
    Any suggestion is more then welcome, thank you!

    To install fontawesome you simply download the kit from this link. Once you unzipped the file you will find the .otf font inside the folder 'font'. Then simply drag and drop the font inside your fontbook.
    To insert an icon in pages you simply copy and paste it from the cheatsheet. Remember to change the font to FontAwesome in the Format > Text panel otherwise you would not see the character.
    Hope it helps!

  • I want to have a unique reference appear on the footer of each printed version of a pdf printed from my website - is this possible?

    I want to have a unique reference appear on the footer of each printed version of a pdf printed from my website - is this possible? If so which version of Adobe do i need?

    If you want it to maybe happen some of the time, if people use the right browser and software and system, you can use JavaScript.
    If you want it to happen reliably, you need server software to add the stamp before the file is served, integrated into your web site's CGI/ASP/PHP or whatever. Probably not an option with shared hosting.

  • Import Pdf (No User Interface)

    Hi All,
    I need a script to import selected pdf in new document.
    I search forum, most of the scripts are done by using user interface or myDialog (i.e., MultiPageImporter2.5-CS5.jsx, PDF Multipage Import.jsx etc...)
    Selected pdf import in 1st page of Indesign files with x axis = 0; y axis = 0
    Trying script is:
    var myFile = File.openDialog("Select the PDF file you want to place","PDF Files (*.pdf):*.pdf");
    if(myFile == null)
        alert("Please select a PDF file and then try again.");
        exit();
    if(myFile != null)
        //Get the Number Of PdfPages.
        var pdfPages = getNumberOfPdfPages(myFile);
    alert(pdfPages)
    function getNumberOfPdfPages(pdfFile){
        pdfFile.resolve();
        pdfFile.open("r", "TEXT", "");
        oneLine = pdfFile.readln();
        while (oneLine.indexOf("/N ") < 0){
            oneLine = pdfFile.readln();
            slashN = oneLine.indexOf("/N ");
            nextSlash = oneLine.indexOf("/" , slashN+1);
            pdfP = oneLine.substring(slashN+3 , nextSlash);
        return(parseInt(pdfP));
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Georg Scholz,
    Thanks for posting here.
    the Server Explorer of Visual Studio 2012 supports connections to SQL Azure Databse servers. But you can also use the free
    SQL Server Express Management Studio 2008 R2 (or newer) to connect to SQL Azure or even use the designer in the SQL Server Management Portal.
    Edit:
    I see you would like to have a designer UI. as far as I know but Visual Studio 2012 does support this feature. If you don't want to switch to VS2012 you still can user the UI from the SQL Azure Management portal.
    Visual Studio 2012
    SQL Azure Management Portal
    Also check out the SSDT (SQL Server Data Tool) which shipped along with SQL Server 2012 and integrated with VS2012. It support GUI for SQL Server as well as SQL Azure.

  • Disable printing when exporting to PDF from Indesign

    Hi  I need to create a T&C form which will be emailed out to clients, the sales team have requested that this should be readable but not printable as a PDF in a small step in saving the environment. I actually achieved this last week and now for the life of me cannot work out how to do it again. Would anyone be able to help?  Many thanks, Claire
    NB: unchecking the 'Print Layer' in the Layer Options box does not work, sadly neither does ticking the 'Nonprinting' option in the Attributes window. I have a feeling it was something in the export dialog box but definitely not a security ermissions option as the PDF I created last week doesn't require a password and yet won't print.

    If you're hoping to prevent a PDF document from printing with sneak-around backdoors, you'll be disappointed.
    Anyone who breaks an expensive scanner platen glass by placing or dropping a CRT monitor on it, when following Eugene's illustrated example, might be permanently dissuaded. Making a screen shot with the computer's own tools, or a camera's phone is easier and safer.
    If your hope is simply to always prompt the user to reconsider killing trees needlessly, it may be possible to intercept a print request made from the Acrobat display software in use at the time (Acrobat, Reader, Web browser window, Mac Preview, etc.) and display an alert to think about printing before proceeding. If this kind of print request can't be intercepted, you could consider creating a button in the document labeled "Print," but which displays an alert and gives the option to proceed or cancel. Perhaps there a script solution for what you need.
    If your hope is to make it as difficult as possible for someone to print a PDF, consider converting text to outlines and/or incorporating a patterned background behind text, to disable easy Optical Character Recognition, and to "contaminate" graphics. However, a clever Photoshop user might be able to minimize the graphic pattern.
    NOTE: Enabling Acrobat's security to disable screen readers does not disable the ability to select and highlight on-screen text, but it does prevent copying the text to the clipboard.

  • Printing and export to PDF

    I am having a problem with my PDF file. When I print from Pages everything looks great. When I either export from pages as a PDF or save as a PDF from the print screen, I am getting extra margins on the top of the page. How can I get exactly what is printing to save as a PDF?

    Hmm ... possibly check Page Setup in case the imageable area has been changed accidentally.

  • InD CS6 doc won't print or export to PDF

    Hi, I'm having a problem with my document:
    304 pages
    Using master frames and master page items (page numbers and running heads, about 25 master spreads in all)
    6 or so pages suddenly had an enormous pasteboard and the text on these pages disappeared (but did not reflow onto the next available page)
    I deleted these affected pages, the text automatically reflowed and I added in new pages at the end of the doc to accommodate the overset text.
    I also deleted the master pages that were assigned to the 6 affected pages and recreated them
    The Indesign doc looks "fixed" but won't print or PDF. The error message is here:
    I sent the file to a colleague and it appeared to work fine on her computer.
    I also copied all the text that was in linked text frames (about 280 pages worth) and copied it into a new document. The new document also has master text frames but no other master page items. The new doc also won't print or PDF.
    Sending the file to my colleague is a work-around that will do for today but I need the file to behave before I send it to the printer.
    Any help?
    Thanks!

    Yup, tried that
    I have found a bit of a work around: I PDF'd the first half with no problem, then I tried to PDF the second half - this failed.
    Then I PDF'd chapter by chapter until I found that chapter 12 was giving the error message, so I copied and pasted the chapter into a new document and PDF'd that.
    The I combined the PDFs into one document in Acrobat.
    It's a solution of sorts but still doesn't completely solve the problem of the original working file.
    Thanks for the help! Happy holidays!

  • ID CS5 Disable background printing when exporting pdf

    Is there a way to disable background printing when exporting to pdf in InDesign CS5?
    I really prefer the way pdf-export has been done in the foreground as it has been since InDesign 1.0.
    An option where you could choose between forground and background printing would be nice since I'm pretty sure there are people out there who want background printing. Why else would Adobe all of a sudden make this, in my opinion, stupid change?

    For the record, exporting PDF has nothing to do with printing from ID. In theory it was made a background task to improve your efficiency and productivity (at the request of users, by the way), since a foregorund export stops you from doing anything else while you wait, but the background export allows you to work on things at the same time.
    Most of the time this actually works well. There was a bug that showed up under certain circumstances (squashed in the last patch), and some reports of export failure with other files as well that are not related to the bug. Though I was one of the first to report a hang during export, I've not seen one in at least six months, maybe longer, and none of the files that originally failed do so now. If the reason you want the foreground export is to see a progress bar, which I miss, you can open Window > Utilities > Background Tasks to see it.
    If you'd like this to be a user preference in a future release, file a request at Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form

  • How to change the default print template for broadcast PDF Export

    Hi,
    I have currently designed a print template for printing purposes and use this as the template for the print button(Export to PDF),if i were to click on this button the output pdf is the desired PDF. But if i were to broadcast the template with output format as PDF it picks the layout of the current template, how do i set broadcast to pick up the print template also???
    Further how to insert a page break in a PDF print template.

    Hi Nagesh,
    These setting are for
    1.Adhoc Template for Queries
    2. Adhoc Template for reports designed through report designer
    3. Template for query precalculation
    4. Template for displaying broadcasting wizard.
    When we use broadcasting from query designer  to email PDF's the system uses 0QUERY_TEMPLATE_BROADCAST_PDF.
    From WAD the system uses the current template layout as PDF Layout.
    P.S: OSS note 1054460 -<b>Depending on the BI object type and possibly other criteria, different Web templates are used in BI broadcasting to generate PDF (and PS or PCL) formats:</b>
    <i>For Web templates: the Web template itself is used</i>

  • Move Print Version and Export of ALV to the right

    Hello online experts,
    Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
    I am working on a webdynpro that displays data in ALV format.
    I now want to move Print Version and Export of ALV to the right side and hide View(Standard View).
    I am able to hide View(Standard View), but the Print Version and Export are automatically moved to the
    left.
    How can I have Print Version and Export on the left side when I hide View(Standard View)?
    Thanks,
    AS.

    Hi Anna,
    For the standard ALV Function ( Print version, Export, View, Filter ) you can only to display or hide them. And unfortunately you can not change their position or their order .

  • I get thick lines from vectors after exporting to PDF. How to keep them thin ?

    I'm exporting vector images to PDF and they are converting to thick lines when zooming out. The problem can by solve by unchecking the box "Enhance line" in properties of PDF reader but every single user have to do this and it's not considerable. How to freeze the lines thickness ?

    I assume you are creating these PDFs from WORD using PDF Maker. I have had similar problems with vector graphics in WORD where dotted and dashed lines because solid in the PDF. When printed to the Adobe PDF printer, the vector graphics came out correctly. You might try that option. If it works for you, but you have other bookmarks and such that you need, then produce the PDF both ways. Then open the PDF Maker PDF and use Replace Pages to put the printed version in the PDF. It will only replace the basic document and leave the markup (bookmarks and such) as they are.

  • Adding a print button, a "download" PDF button and a navigation bar in a SWF created by InDesign

    I can't find a way to add "PDF features" on a SWF file exported from InDesign CS5.5 such as:
    - a print button
    - a download PDF button
    - a navigation bar (outside of the pages)
    edocker provides these features but it is pretty expensive and does not allow a lot of customization.
    Would anyone have an idea of how to do it ?
    Thank you.

    eDocker actually allows you to use all the interactive features you can create in InDesign. It kind of "wraps" your exported SWF into a user interface with all those 3 elements asked + more (zoom for instance)

  • Export to PDF spacing problems w Optima

    I’m helping a friend troubleshoot a really weird problem exporting to PDF from InDesign. In one text block, the tracking/kerning is completely crazy. We’ve made sure that the font is a current version (font version 2.020). Wildly different from the ID document (looks as expected) and PDF (the word “Yellowstone” looks like “Yellows         tone”)
    Somehow, I managed to fix the problem in one version of the file he gave me for testing. Some combination of: setting a style rule, setting the kerning to Optical, removing local style overrides, choosing a different printer before exporting the PDF, or maybe something I forgot I had done messing around trying to figure it out. It’s driving us crazy, it’s for a multi-hundred page catalog. Also, using the Mac OS X PDF workflow or printing to PS and Distilling don’t have the problem, but either workaround is unappealing due to the workflow for output (includes “China” as part of the process).
    Other things that will fix it include copying all the blocks on the bogus page and pasting them into a new document. I have even run “diff” on the idml exports (side note, you can open them with an archive expanding tool, such as The Unarchiver, they turn into folders) and don’t really see huge differences. I have exported the broken docs as idml and imported them, but that alone is not enough.

    How are you viewing the PDF?

  • Export to PDF in landscape orientation

    Some of our discoverer reports have too many row headings so when exporting to PDF the user gets an error message basically saying that at least one data column must be printable on a page.
    We have turned on the Printable Page link and if the user sets orientation to Landscape there, the export works fine (for that session).
    Is there any URL parameter, config file edit, .uix file hack or other we can use to set the PDF orientation to landscape from start (every time)?
    Kind regards
    Tomas Albinsson
    Stockholm, Sweden

    I would look in the documentation under Viewer / Plus for changes that can be made to the configuration files on the server to see if this can be done.
    Admittedly, it doesn't sound like rocket science and I would have thought there'd be a section in one of the server config files to set 'landscape' as default.
    It may even be a setting in a config file on the server where the actual text has to be written in (ie: not already there with a setting of 0 or something), so unless someone knows the answer right away, I'd check the docs on config files.
