GRC Windows 2008 Support

I am preparing a server for a consultant that is coming on site to help install GRC Access Control 5.3.  I want to have the OS installed and the server ready to go when the consultant arrives.  My question is about support for Windows 2008 (64 bit).  The install guide does not list it as a supported OS.  However, if I look at the Product Availability Matrix (pam), I only see supported Web Browsers, nothing is listed about servers.   This makes me think GRC will run on whatever Netweaver 7.0 supports (which does support Windows 2008).
Does anyone know if GRC AC 5.3 is supported on Windows 2008 (64 bit)?   I did a search and found one thread where someone mentions IGS not working.
Thanks for any help!
Andy

Hi,
correct - AC does not have its own OS PAM since it relies on the underlying NetWeaver OS PAM.
So since NetWeaver 7.0 is supported on Windows 2008 Server AC should also run on that - haven't tested it myself yet.
Regarding Win 2008: just watch out for the exact architecture  (x86 etc.) and DB (MSSQL...) to make sure what combination is exactly supported!
Cheers,
Dominic

  • SAP Conversion Agent for PI 7.1 EHP 1 and Windows 2008 Support

    Hello
I have read that some people were able to run SAP Conversion Agent on a PI 7.1 EHP1 Installation on Windows 2008 Sever. But in the Product Availability Matrix there is no support for 2008 yet.
In the SAP Library (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/en/43/fc39c16bfb025ee10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm) under the release notes for SAP Conversion Agent there is still version 8.5, but when I install the actual Support Package I have Conversion Agent 8.6 running and according to information on the informatica.com site this version is running under 2008!
Has anybody clear and actual information about which OS the newest SAP Conversion Agent for PI 7.1 EHP1 supports? Or has anyone experiance on Conversion Agent and Windows 2008 Server?
    Thanks
    Christoph

    Hi Mark
Thanks for your reply! Fact is that in the actual Package (SP06) the version of Conversion Agent Engine supplied is not 8.5.5 as in the SAP Note mentioned, it is version 8.6.0:
    C:\Documents and Settings\pi1adm>CM_console -v
    Engine-Version: 8.6.0(Build:30)
    Engine-Syntaxversion:4.00.10
I will oben a ticket for that ...

Is current version of IOP supported for Windows 2008?

The next version of IOP, which is going to be out over the next couple of months, will support Windows 2008 server on the server side. The current version - 4.0.x - does not do so. It only supports Windows 2003 Server.

If you do this only for cost reasons, you should reconsider.
My guess is this is some managerial directive.I agree with you that any flavour of *nix is better than Windows, but the reality is that there might be situations where a Windows-platform is better.
If the entire server park is Windows, then the delivery will be better with a platform change. It's much likelier that the machine will stand abandoned in a corner, slowly rotting away if nobody really knows how to to manage the beast...
The world isn't black and white, and it isn't always about which is the better technical platform. If it was, the whole world would be using *nix-servers... ;-)

    Hi,
    FMS 3.5.1 supports Windows 2008 R2.
Regarding the error message that you get it can also be caused due to some files getting corrupt in Windows registry.
The corruption in registry can occur due to several reasons such as existense of invalid entries caused due to software you are no longer using, or an improper software installation or removal.
You can try the installation on another machine with a fresh installation of Windows 2008 or re-install the OS if possible. You can also try some registry repair tool in case you don't wish to re-install the OS.
Look into windows 2008 support forums for more information on this error message.

  • Does GRC 5.3 support Windows 2008?

    Dear Experts:
We currently have GRC 5.3 running on Windows 2003 Servers (64bit). They are running fine without any issues. But we are in the process upgrading the servers from Windows 2003 to 2008. I tried to find out if Windows 2008 is supported in GRC 5.3, but in the SAP market place product availability matrix (PAM), only show what browser it will support. No indication for Windows server side. From the installation guide of GRC 5.3, it only listed WIndows 2003, NO 2008 mentioned.
Where I can find the right information on if GRC 5.3 can run on Windows 2008 or not? Are any of you upgraded from 2003 to 2008 for GRC server? Any issues need be aware of?
    Thanks,
    Yujun Ran

    Hi Yujun,
Since GRC relies on the underlying NetWeaver OS PAM, you can install on Windows 2008 Server, if you are successful in installing your Netweaver 7.0. My recommendation would be to look at the compability of database and other supported add-ons too before you actually go with Windows 2008.

  • ADConnector v9.1.1 and Windows 2008 R2 - Supported? (OIM 9.1.0.2)

Below is my question around the OIM AD connector version 9.1.1 and its support with Windows Server 2008 R2.
From the AD Connector Documentation I can see that Active Directory 2008 is a supported target system by the OIM connector v9.1.1. There is no mention of Windows 2008 R2 at all in this document: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11223_01/doc.910/e11197.pdf
My question is: Is Active Directory on Windows Server 2008 R2 supported as a target system by v9.1.1 of the AD User Management Connector. If not what version of the AD User Management connector do we need to upgrade to (9.1.1.4 or 9.1.1.5)?
I am crossing my fingers for the answer to be that v9.1.1 does support Windows Server 2008 R2 to save us the pain of an upgrade.
    Thanks..

It depends on if you mean "officially supported" or "will work".
On the officially supported line AD 2008 R2 is sometimes considered different enough to need a separate certification. Check your connector release notes and if that doesn't include AD 2008 R2 open a support case with Oracle to get the official ceritification schedule.
With 99% likelyhood it will work fine but you may end up in a non supported state which may or may not be acceptable in your organization.

  • Windows 2008 server 32 bit support

Hmm... about what download link are you talking?
The one in the download area here in SDN?
If so, then this is not relevant for SAP customers as they should get all their software via DVD delivery or the Service Marketplace downloads!
In the service marketplace download sections there are no restrictions given, since the Product Availability Matrix (https://service.sap.com/pam) contains all the release/support information.
In general, the PAM is the one single place to check for supported versions.

    Many thanks for help.

    Hello,
Service Pack 1 of Windows 2008 Server Enterprise Edition R2 is not officially supported yet. Reference the readme.
However, I have applied SP1 to my installation of LMS on Windows Server 2008 EE R2 without breaking it. Your mileage may vary.
    Hope this helps.

  • Windows 2008 R2 - snmp 64bit counters support?

    Hi all,
I wonder if Windows 2008 R2 Standard supports 64bit counters from IF-MIB (I mean the '1.3.6.1.2.1.31' OID). I can get the ifName, ifAlias, ifSpeed and several other objects, but the two most important (ifHCInOctets and ifHCOutOctets) are unaccesible (Error
    in packet).
    Thanks!
    R.*

    Hi,
    Thanks for posting here.
Currently, Windows gets it’s interface status from MIB-2. Since these 64bit SNMP counters (ifHCInOctets, ifHCOutOctets, etc.) are defined as
an extension to IF-MIB, Microsoft has not implemented it.
If you want to monitor NIC usage , Microsoft system center might meet your requirement :

  • Windows 2008 R2 domain controllers with Windows 2003 forest functional level Supported after Windows 2003 support ends in July 2015

    Hi
Anyone knows whether Windows 2008 R2 domain controllers with Windows 2003 forest functional level will still be Supported after Windows 2003 support ends in July 2015 ?
    Thanks

When Windows Server 2003 support ends, you should not have a Windows Server 2003 Domain Controller running if you would like to be supported by Microsoft. This means that there will be no reason to have a DFL or FFL that is lower than Windows Server 2008.
So, if you are keeping Windows Server 2003 FFL to keep DCs running Windows Server 2003 then this is not supported.
