Great sale price for Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB

Just a heads up for anyone who didn't already see this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218 Earlier today this drive was selling for $130. Don't know how long this sale will last, but $110 for this drive seems like a pretty good price (free shipping is also available). Bare Feats gave a favorable review of this drive recently. http://www.barefeats.com/harper14.html I took the plunge and ordered four (I just have to hope that newegg packages them well enough so that they actually work when I get them). Hope this helps.

Newegg customers, and Mac Pro owners, have sometimes had trouble with OEM drives they sell though. Just a word of caution.
And yes, handling is one of the largest causes for 'broken egg' syndrome.

When i doing MIGO , i am getting following Error Message .i.e.,
*Sales price for material (NL1S ROH1 ) could not be found*Message no. M7158
    Diagnosis

    Procedure
u2022 If you have a goods receipt for a purchase order or an order, the sales price is taken from the purchase order or the order concerned.
Check the sales price in the purchase order or the order.

    Hello,
    Please check the following:
-check with SE16 at table T001K whether you have sales pricing active for your valuation area, does your material belong to a very special material type
    -Check SAP Note 84480 ,109881
-No sales price exists, no goods movements can be posted for an article subject to value-based inventory management. You must maintain the sales price in all cases.

  • Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB drive - anyone using these in internal bay

Just a side thread to a current discussion I've started (http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1125&start=0) to try to see if anyone can report positive results using a Western Digital Caviar Black in their Mac Pro, especially if they're doing so as the Startup Disk.
I have horrible performance with a new one and want to see if others have had good or bad experience.

    Out of curiosity did you prepare the drive properly? Most new bare drives have not been partitioned for use on the Mac and also are formatted FAT32. Consider doing the following;
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder. If you need to reformat your startup volume, then you must boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the number of partitions from the drop down menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (only required for Intel Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
I have seen elsewhere some mention that WD drives have some configuration jumpers. You might check the information about the drive's configuration at the WD support site to be sure that the drive is correctly configured (if there is a need to do so, that is.)

    My bad?
You're original response was questions/post  about an iMac. Now you've edited it to ask about a Mac Pro?
You can more easily add internal drives in a Mac Pro.
Not too terribly easy to add/replace drives in an iMac.
If younhave questions about a Mac Pro, try posting in the Mac Pro forums.
    Much more knowledgeable users there.

    Hi malthi ,
    welcome to sdn
for material sales area u can look for the validations is table MVKE.
the classification of the conditions is in tables like A901, a902 etc which in my opinion holds the condition types per classification .
put a A* in se11 and this will give the list of tables per classification .
u need to get the conditions as per kschl and dmbtr and
    etc..
    like this ..
Get Condition Values for Material/Plant combination
      IF NOT i_a916[] IS INITIAL.

               kbetr konwa kpein kmein
               INTO TABLE i_konp
               FROM konp
               FOR ALL ENTRIES IN i_a916
               WHERE knumh EQ i_a916-knumh AND
                     kappl EQ i_a916-kappl AND
                     kschl EQ i_a916-kschl AND
                     loevm_ko NE 'X'.
      ENDIF.
    Get Condition Values for Material/Plant/Ordertype/
    Customer combination
      IF NOT i_a925[] IS INITIAL.
        SELECT knumh kappl kschl  krech

  • Multiple sales price for a FG with reference to another FG

    Hi All,
In the following scenario,we need a solution in sales pricing.
    FG Materials: A, B, C
price of A is X when sold independently.
price of A is Y when sold along with B in a sales order
price of A is Z when sold along with C in a sales order
How do you maintain pricing in the above scenario, and how it is determined is sales order?
Pl give your suggestions if you have come across above similar situation.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Prabhu

    Hi Radha Krishna,
    If i understood correctly
    1) price of A is X when sold independently. in this case one material
    2) price of A is Y when sold along with B in a sales order in this case 2 materials A& B
    3) price of A is Z when sold along with C in a sales order in this case 2 materials A & C
If this is the scenario, why don't you go for Higher Level BOM for 2nd ad 3rd cases.
In first case you can maintain price for A material independently
    in 2nd, 3rd cases maintain price for BOM item ( HHHH, LLLL) by combination of A & B ( Create New material with HRH component material as A & B, (LLLL - A & C) ]
I hope your issue may resolve... Pl revert if you have any query other wise if i understand wrongly...

  • Waiting for western digital

    Hi all,
I recently added a 500GB western digital 'my book' to my set up.
The question I want to ask is, why is it that whenever I try to do anything such as opening an app or file I have to wait for the 'my book' to power up before I can get started. It's obviously powered down when not in use but its as though the whole system has to wait until this thing starts up again before responding. I presume I'm using the correct description when saying 'powered down/up'. If its not been running for a while it'll make the noise of a drive starting up anytime there is an activity required, this doesnt mean accessing anything off the drive either. It'll do this if I'm accessing data from one of the partitions too.
I've looked in the startup items to see if theres anything obvious there but cant see anything.
I have had another external hard drive prior to this and that never interfered with the running of my mac. Is it possible something has been installed during the intitial setup. It's connected via firewire BTW

If it has a special driver, it would have been installed by you (running a package or installer program) and you would know about it. A drive cannot automatically install something on your Mac without your knowledge. If something needs to get installed in your System (which would be necessary for a driver to be active), Mac OS X takes the additional precaution of asking for admin user authentication before proceeding.
Take a look at the manual. The drive may have special features that are enabled or disable using switches on the back of the drive.
Another possibility is formatting. If the drive was never re-formatted for use with a Mac, it may be FAT32 format. That could slow things down.

  • Compatible HD Export for Western Digital Live Hub

Need to Export 720 x1280 HDV Clips for Large Format (Life Size) Signage. Just purchased WD TV Live Hub which I thought would work well as an HD  Digital player connected via HDMI to an HD projector. Was working in Pro Res for highest quality but WDTV says incompatible. Have tried numerous compressor settings with no luck - except MPEG4 (which did wok but the quality was way to low.). Need High quality life size image. Western Digital says quicktime, AVC and .mov are compatible.  Anybody know a compressor setting that will work and still give me the 720 x 1280 HD quality I need?
If not, does anyone know of a digital player that will output quicktime HD files?  Thanks so much.

If .mov files are compatible, why not just stay with HDV…or try an H.264 setting @ about 12 Mbps?

  • How SBO handles a Sale Price for a customer?

    Hi,
I know that SBO has list prices, special prices per customer, volume discount prices, season temporary discounts, etc. How these are handled?, I know that first SBO looks for a item special price for the customer,  but after that is not clear to me what SBO does, Does SBO Looks for a volume discount or a Item Group Discount?, What are the priorities?
Does anyone knows where I can find a work flow diagram or a step by step guide that shows the way the sale prices are handled in SBO?
    Thanks

This is from the Help in SBO, hope this explains.
    Automatic Price Calculation
When you enter a business transaction, such as an outgoing invoice or a purchase order, the system calculates the price for an item automatically. The system proceeds as follows here:
The system first checks whether a special price has been defined for the item for this particular business partner. This special price could also be based on a particular date or quantity.
If no special price has been defined, the system checks whether a discount group has been defined for the business partner that can be applied to the item.
If no special price has been defined, the system checks whether a special price has been defined for the item (for the price list entered in the master record of the business partner), which once again can be based on a particular date or quantity.
If no special price has been defined, the system copies the price for the item from the price list entered in the master record of the business partner.
If a discount has been granted because of a special price, the discount is indicated in the detailed information of a line in the purchasing or sales document in the Discount % field.

  • Something to say about Western Digital Caviar 250 Gig?

I want to add a second drive to my 1,8DP G5 (PCI-X) and I can find available locally this disc:
    WESTERN DIGITAL- WD2500JS
Western Digital 250GB SATA II 7200 RPM 8MB
I wanted to check that nobody had problems with this kind of disk. I'll get it from a PC parts supplier and wanted to know if there is something I'd have to switch or configure to make it works fine in Mac.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello all,
I have a Power G5 dual 2Ghz and have recently bought and installed a second HD. It happened to be a WD Caviar 250 GB, SATA-II, 16MB 7200 rpm, and it only lasted one month: it soon started to make metallic noises (as if the head was falling on the disk) and then crashed.
I first thought the disk was defective so I had it replaced with a new one, same model. As soon as I installed it (upper bay) this second disk also started to have the same problems as the first one and crashed after 4 days.
I was wondering if there is any known incompatibility. In particular, the disk is labelled as SATA-II, while the manual I got with my Power G5 talks about SATA disk: are they the same thing? Or do I have to set some jumpers/switches etc.?
I hope someone can help, I am desperate, I dont't know if my Mac has a problem or I'm just not using the right disks or the correct settings.
Any suggestions on some tests or anything I can try?
    Thanks a lot in advance
    /Andrea

  • Western Digital Caviar RE2 or Caviar SE16

These are the 500 g version hard drives. If I wanted to replace the stock 250 g drive, will I need to attach any cables or just unscrew the drive from the bay and put in the new drive and tighten the screws??

The HD sled just pulls right out. Screw in the HD, attach the connector, pop the sled back in. Done. Can't make it too much easier thant that.

  • Western Digital Caviar Drives

I'm looking at WD Caviar drives for my Mac Pro. I think the 640 GB models will be good enough for me, but I'm not sure which to get. Is the "Black" model (XL320M) much better than the older one (SE16 )? I've read a little about each of them, but I'm not sure whether or not there's a substantial difference in performance between the two. I compose/record music using Logic, and would be using this drive for sampler instruments, so it's important that it run pretty smoothly. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the Caviar Black i believe most of them anyways, have 32mb cache so the latency and read/write should be very sufficient.
the SE16's all have 16mb cache which is still good, but 32mb is definitely a boost and helpful for apps like logic and consistent access.
the 640GB is a perfect drive actually in regards to price and performance, operating with 2x320gb platters (2 physical plates inside the drive itself) less seeking, faster performance and less issues.
the 16mb shouldnt be much of an issue with that drive.
but i do believe they make a 32mb version of it aswell.
the 750GB caviar black are phenomenal drives as i recently got into logic and final cut, and with protools they were outstanding.
