Great Service from the Store and Apple

Let me start off by saying I have had my differences with Apple over the years I have been a customer. I have written about 4 letters addressed to Steve himself voicing my displeasure. I don't need to go into those details here, other than to say almost all were properly addressed by Apple.
I bought one of the early iPhones, the 600.00 "version". So I've had it almost a year. A few months ago the silent switch stopped working. I didn't worry over it too much and simply avoided using the switch. I don't have an Apple store near me, so a simple trip there is not an option. But the other day I had the chance to go to one in Tucson, Az. I waited the 30 minutes to see a "genius" and explained my problem.
After a few seconds he was able to see the problem I had. He said they could fix it. I thought great, I'll be without a phone for a few weeks but it'll be fixed. He then asked me if I had recently synced the phone. I had. He then explained that I was going to get a replacement phone. And in a few minutes I was walking out of the store with a shiny "new" iPhone.
I was ecstatic. My "old" used phone that had wear marks on the edges in which the finish had worn off due to being in a non-iphone case for a long time was now replaced with a phone with no wear marks, etc.
So I am very happy with Apple. With so many people posting on these forums with problems, I thought it was worth letting people know that there are a lot of happy customers out there as well.
A note worth mentioning; the phone is either a unused phone with a new battery or a refurbished phone according the the guy at the store.
Also, it does appear to have a louder speaker compared to what I was used to on my first phone.

It is typical that the disgruntled customers will be the most vocal.
Unlike the original poster, I am new to Apple having purchased a Nano a year ago and an Iphone some months ago. No issues with the Nano but I did have a problem with an update on my Iphone. With past phone problems I knew that a trip to my service provider's store meant the phone was going to be sent off for repair. I expected the same with Apple. Not being familiar with the genius bar concept, I walked to the rear of the store where one guy didn't seem busy, handed him the phone and explained the problem. He hooked it up to his computer and in five minutes, probably less, he handed me my phone, up and running, and thanked me for being an Apple customer.
There is no doubt in my mind where I will be buying my next computer.

    Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    (Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

    You're right, it would have been covered under warranty. But because of the user damage, chances are there's a 200-something dollar fee . If you explain to them that it had a defect previously, they might replace it for you at no charge. **MIGHT**. But they would have to believe that it had a defect previously.

    Try the Store tab in iTunes and Check for Downloads.
    If that doesn't work go to the main itunes store screen in itunes and on teh right side under quick links see if you have a purchased secrion - do the tracks appear there for download?

    You are trying to sync to other than the one iTunes library you can sync to. You can copy music from multiple library/computer if you use the manual method of syncing. That method is described here

    If you want to make this computer/iTunes library your syncing computer/library you have to restore the iPod on this computer/library. Restoring erases the iPod.

  • Problem with iTunes purchased track.  I purchased an album from the store and downloaded.  I contacted support as one track was defective and had this one track setup to re-download, which was successful.

    I purchased an album with 11 tracks from the Store.  When the download was complete, I edited the name to make it easier for me to find. I then synced my iPod and iPad with the new album.  However I found that one of the tracks was defective and after writing to the support community, a second download was setup and this fixed the bad track.  I was surprised that when the track downloaded, it went to the track with the new name.  However it works perfectly on my computer.  For some reason, the iPod and iPad have synced a few times but the track for this album on these is the original track with the defect and this has not fixed, though there have been multiple times that it has synced. The laptop with its corrected track works fine.
    The message from support told me to be sure that the software on my laptop was the current version and I did correct this before getting that corrected download.  However I notice that my iPod says that it has the latest version and won't check for an update until 2/24.
    Can you help me figure this out.  I thought if I could delete this track off the iPod and iPad that it would sync the correct version, but I can't see how to delete these.

    Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the problem tracks from your iTunes library, close and then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
    While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
    If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

    when you play the CD in your laptop on your home screen a Cd should pop up under the name of the album. Than when you open itunes it will probly say something like "let this CD download" or something like that. If it doesn't than automaticlly while the CD is importing to your itunes a page will pop up with a progess of the CD download.

    Download the installer file for Lightroom 5 again, using the Mac without a CD drive. Install it, enter your serial number, done.
