Great way to back up music if you cant do it in iTunes

Here is what I found inside the "disk mode" in the iPod.
To see this, make sure you enabled seeing hidden files and folders.
Go to the iPod's disk mode, then there will be a hidden folder called iPod_Control (That's what it says on my windows PC) Inside that folder, there will be a folder called "music." inside that folder there will be a number of folders named "F00," "F01," and so on.
Inside those folders are your music, named with random letters. But these are your songs on your iPod. To back up these files, drag them to a folder of your own.
Great way to back up your files if you are reinstalling iTunes.

Haha thanks! You're the best! I'm planning on sending my broken iPod Nano to Apple for a new one and uncoincidentally my computer is broken too (with iTunes on it) so I couldn't back up my music. But thanks to u I can back up my Nano before sending it away on this computer without the use of iTunes

  • What is the Proper Way to "Sync My Music & Apps to a New Computer Using ITunes"

What is the Proper Way for Me to "Sync My Music, Pictures & Apps to a New Computer Using ITunes"?
I had to buy a New Computer since my other one went out, but when I log into ITunes with the New Computer using My Apple ID "Nothing is there"...
None of My Previously Purchased Music or Apps are in My ITunes Media Library; so, I any not sure how to Properly Proceed with Syncing?
Any Help & Guidance would be Greatly Appreciated!!!
    Thanks,
    Don

Sounds like something might be wrong there. Years ago I set up the playlists to sync to my iPhone and 'Everything' for my iPod and I've never needed to change or even check it since, ever.
However, how and why are you 'restoring' the iPod? This is not something you should ever need to do. If you restore back to original settings, then I guess that would throw away your own settings, but as I said, there should be no need to keep doing that. Or at all in fact.

  • Is there a way to remove existing music and upload new from a new itunes account without loosing previous apps. Itouch 32gb, generation: I don't know, has no camera...

Ok, so. My Uncle recently gave my family an itouch that he had owned previously. Which meant that it came complete with applications and music and such. But as I found out my uncle has a very different taste in music than us, so I am trying to add my music from My itunes account. But he already has 1620 different songs on there, some of which I would like to keep and others not so much. Is there a way to keep the applications, and some of the music, while removing many of the songs???? Feel free to ask anymore clarifying questions.
    Thanks.
    Han

You should restore the iPod to factory settings/new iPod and add/purchase your own media. The media did not transfer with the iPod hardware. Using it would be stealing.

  • I just inherited an iphone 3gs from my dad.  I want to get my music off my ipod and onto my iphone, but now that it is synced with the iphone itunes wants to strip all the info off my ipod.  Is there a way to get my music that is on my ipod onto itunes?

If I try to sync my iPod with iTunes on my laptop, it won't let me - it says it is going to remove all the music on my ipod first!!!  I just want it moved from my iPod to my (new to me) iPhone!

    Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - For other music you need to use a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

  • Why can't I back up music from my ipod to my computer itunes that were burned from CDs?  It will only back up songs purchased from itunes.

I can burn the CDs to my itunes on my lap top but it is about 1000 songs.  Can I do it by synchronizing?  So far I can only get the istore purchsed music to go.

You need a third-party program to do that. Some are discussed here:

  • Backing up music for all computers linked to one itunes account

Okay. So I have four computers that share music on itunes. When I back-up my music on my computer, I am wondering if the other computers libraries get backed up at the same time. The reason I ask is because there is no option in itunes to back-up any of the other computers. So, say I go to my daughter's computer, open itunes and look for the back-up option. It is not listed. This makes me wonder if everytime I back up my library, I am also backing up hers.
    Confused!
    Using Windows Vista

get a sufficiently sized external HD and create four partitions, one for each computer. copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music or media folder) to their respective partition. use SyncToy on each machine to keep both folders in sync.
    SyncToy
SyncToy 2.1 is a free application that synchronizes files and folders between locations. Typical uses include sharing files, such as photos, with other computers and creating backup copies of files and folders.

  • Is anybody out there have iTunes Match problems? Such as: trades your music that you did not purchase from iTunes into edited versions of a song.

This is very annoying and utterly frustrating

At the moment, you have two options as far as I know.
    1. Just live with the issue until Apple resolve it.
    2. Turn off iTunes Match. You can just turn it off on specific devices and sync in the old way via USB.
I'm afraid that is it really.

  • Clean Install on Tiger, correct way to back-up Podcast list, for reinstall?

I need to erase and install my hard drive to reinstall Tiger, I would like to know the correct way to back-up my Podcast list, so when I restore iTunes, all of my Podcast will be there, and all I will need to do is update to get the latest.
    As always thank you,
    Sebastian

I didn't know where the Podcast list was stored, so I did a test.
I copied the 'iTunes Library' file to new user account and launched iTunes for the first time. My library is on an EHD, so I had instant access.
The complete podcast list was present and updating was successful
If you backup the entire iTunes folder in ~/Users/YourUsername/Music, then all data is safe.
To keep all your preferences, including CD-data and iPod settings, backup the next files from ~/Users/YourUsername/Library/Preferences:
    com.apple.iPod.plist
    com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist
    com.apple.iTunes.plist
    com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist
    CD Info.cidb
Before performing a complete re-install, I recommend to de-authorize your computer. If you format the HD, you could have an additional authorization:
About iTunes Music Store authorization and deauthorization
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I get my music off my iPhone and into the iTunes library?

My computer broke down a long time ago and I lost all my music, the only place I have any of it now is on my iPhone. None of my songs were purchases. I haven't updated my phone since I got it a year ago, I deleted and backed up everything on my phone except for my music because I can find no way how, and I still don't have enough space to update. Some of the songs I have on there, I can't get back if I delete now, not anywhere. Why is there not a simple, built in way to back up music??? This has been driving me insane forever, I really just want to get my music back into iTunes again, or get it onto the computer I'm currently using, somewhere, anywhere, at this point. Is there any way to do this without downloading some program that you have to pay for to get to work?

  • Can I transfer my music from my iPod Touch to my iTunes library?

So my computer (and my backup external hard drive) was stolen. With it went all my music. Most of this music was ripped from CD, and I don't have the CDs anymore, so the music is just gone. I still have my whole library on my iPod Touch 4G, so I was hoping there is a good way to transfer my music from the iPod to the new iTunes. The iPod is jailbroken, but I would prefer to use a "legit" method instead of some jailbreak hack. Does anyone know of a good way to transfer my library?
    Thanks!

Oh, never mind...figured out what I needed to know elsewhere. Should have done more research first!

thanks for the reply.  guess i'll have to do that.  apple, not really happy with what you've done with this latest update.  have not been able to enjoy my music in my car since the update.  most of us dont mind changes that progress timely, but this was much more than just a progression.  this was a complete change.  and not a good one, at all.  thanks to the two people that replied.  appreciate it.
