Greek entries in Contacts

I have several contacts entered in Greek on my contacts app.They all appear at the bottom of the list of contacts I would like them to appear either on their own alphabetized list or within the english alphabet. Is there a way to add a Greek alphabet section? Thanks!

Well Linc, I disagree with you. From the way Contacts behaves it has no such capability whatsoever. There is no Alpha, Beta, Gamma, etc tabs that organize entries like A, B, C. Yet the OS includes a mirriad of languages for one to choose from when typing, but Contacts has no accommodation for any of them but english, it seems. The reason it works the way it does is the way binary code inteprets letters. Contacts doesn't know what to do with these lettters just as it can't deal with numbers or symbols and just throws them at the bottom of the list in binary order. I have not dabbled with Cyrillic, Arab, African, or Pictographic languages all of which are even more distant than Greek to latin/english, but I'm sure its even more if not completely impossible to use Contacts for most of those. What I was hoping for was some switch somewhere in contacts that allows for incluson of foreign language tabs. If I had the answer, I would not be posting, would I?
To answer your next to last comment directly, it is possible to envelope Greek into the English tabs by assigning Alpha to A Beta to V, Gamma to G, Delta to D etc. Alternatively there could be a seperate tab system, which would be the cleaner way to do it but neither solution seems to be available.

Can't edit or add entries to Contacts

I am unable to edit any entries in Contacts and cannot add any new contacts in Mavericks. As soon as I click "Done" after an edit, the contact reverts to its original contents, i.e. the edit disappears. If I add a new contact, it also disappears when I click "Done."
Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas about what is going on?

Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Nokia 2323 Contacts: Multiple entries per contact ...

I am planning to buy Nokia 2323 Classic phone. gsmarena informs that it can save 1000 contacts. What I need to know is that does this phone accept multiple entries per contact. For example: Work Phone, Home Phone, Fax, Mobile Phone etc. If yes, then how many entries can each contact take? Also, if we add multiple entries then would it reduce the number of contacts we can save?
I have googled but it doesn't help. Also tried looking at the online user guide of Nokia 2323. It talks about going into Details menu and then entering Add detail but doesn't mention what kind of "details" it takes. I would be really glad if some one who has seen/used the phone could help.

Now that I'm not so sure about. The phone will either have a certain amount of memory put aside for contacts and usually you can't tell how much but you can check how much of it you have used as a percentage or it will let the contacts share the same memory as your messages and everything else and when you check your memory it will just tell you how much the contacts are using. I haven't used that phone but I think the 1st case applies to it

How to change second birthday entry in contacts to be english

I recently noticed that when I attempt to "add" a second birthday entry into my contacts the date options come up in Chinese. If I attempt to change it by clicking on chinese, the only options available are chinese, hebrew and islamic. This does not occur on the first entry of a birthday. The first "add birthday" works as desired given you the month,day, year as you would expect when language is set to English. This occurs regardless of adding a new contact or modifying a current contact. I verified that in "general, settings, mail, contacts, calendars, alternate calendars was indeed "off". I did try toggling off to chinese to off again in the alternate calendars option. I do not believe this was a problem before version 8 as I do not believe you could put in a second birthday. Based on other contacts, I used "other" for the date.
Any information related to this would be helpful.

If you want to clear the value of the second column in the user interface through a ValueChangeListener, do the following:

Duplicate entries in Contacts and iCal

I have Lion on my iMac and IOS 5 on my i Phone 4S. Ever since I set up iCloud, everything in Contacts and on iCal is entered twice. Do I have to do anything with iTunes to stop this? What else if anything do I need to do to stop this?

Actually, we never signed up for iCloud on the 3G iPhone. That said, I followed someone's suggestion in another post on deleted contacts. I clicked the little arrow on a recent number of a friend that had called and then selected 'Add to Existing Contact.' Somehow, with that action, all my contacts reappeared immediately. What an entirely strange glitch.
Still not sure what to do with the duplicate iCal entries but will check out the iCloud settings on the iPhone 4 to see whether that fixes the problem.

Entry in contact list does not show up when you try to edit the list in v4

When clicking the "To" box for a new message I have as the last entry a name in bold that is not something I recognize and when going into my contact list so as to remove it, it does NOT show up.
How do I get rid of it? IE: find it so as to delete it. Search in windows 7 does not locate the file. Below is header when asking for source.

If you created a new AppleID with the new email address, then that is exactly what will happen. Purchases are permanently tied to the AppleID you used when buying them. Anything tied to an old(er) AppleID is forever tied to it and you need that older AppleID's password to update those apps.
Your only option is to buy those apps again, paying a second time, to get them under your new AppleID.
For future reference, if you just wish to change the primary email you are using for your AppleID, you should log in to the "Mange your AppleID" section at https://appleid.apple.com and just edit the primary email address for your existing AppleID.

Every entry on contacts is in there twice. How do I eliminate the second entry? This is on iCloud and iMac.

When I open contacts on the iMac or iCloud or iPhone or my Mac Book Pro every entry is in there twice. I have no idea what caused this and I've done no troubleshoooting because I don't want to screw something up.

Thanks again for the help. I managed to muddle my way through and got to the combine duplicate contacts. My error was that I typed in combine duplicate contacts and it never connected. I then clicked on the button below and voila, there is was. Many thanks.

Duplicate entries for contacts after BB update 10.2.1.2102

Hi,
This is in regards to my boss's blackberry q10.
I recently updated the OS to 10.2.1.2102 (done via phone update not via BB link).
After the update, i noticed that all contacts had a duplicate entry with only one of them containing the proper details while the other was blank. I have uploaded the pics through the dropbox link below.

If i delete the blank contact, it solves the problem but I have to do it individually for each contact.
Is there a better way of doing this? Would really appreciate your help here.

If you open the blank one and go to the bottom and hit "Link" does it show what contact list the blank one is in?
Also, where was the source of the contacts to begin with? Did they come from an Exchange mailbox? Another email account? Wired sync from Link?

Is it possible to automatically add entry to contacts?

Using my iPhone or iPad, I can search for an address using the white and yellow pages app, then just click a button to add that entry to my contacts. Is there a way to do this using a Mac?

I just installed a free app named "Yellow Pages". You can lookup an address, and in one click add it to your contacts. Nice!

Duplicate calendar entries missing contacts etc

Since i downloaded the update to V3 for iPhone i have noticed two calendar lists on the iPhone. One is from My Mac and the other is ****@mac.com. If i select 'all calendar's i get duplicate entries. If i select one or other i only get some entries plus on sync it keeps wanting to add or delete. I have now noticed that while i have all my contacts on the iPhone the majority are missing from the iMac and mobile me. This all started with the V3 download.

Multiple entries in Contacts

I've tried syncing my iPhone with a MacBook several times. At first it worked fine. Then all of a sudden the Phone had FOUR entries for each name in my address book.
I reset the phone, turned on/off iTunes and synched again, to no avail. Nothing on the computer changed and there were still multiple addresses.
I tried checking the box to have the computer overwrite the Phone contacts. Still nothing...
Anyone have a solution or come across this?
Any idea WHY this happened?

Are you limited to a certain amount of entries in the Contacts application for iPad? I've entered 50 so far and I can't enter any more?

Double Entries in Contact List

i keep getting duplicate and sometimes triplicate and even quadruplicate entires in my contact list.when i set up my contact list, i had a single entry for each person ion there. then, i THINK that what happened was that each time i emailed them it added a copy of it [maybe that is bizarre but i cannot think of how they get there] i keep deleting the copies, they are idential and redundant, but i keep getting them over and over again. i KNOW i originally had the problem when linked in mysteriously linked up to my contact list despite selecting the 'please for the love of god don't do that' button, it did it anyway and duplicated every entry.took hours to delete them all. then as i got on with life again the duplicates began appearing again, 'seemingly' when i email people i get a copy of their contact. is this weird or what!?

Same problem here (plus other Contacts nonsense, but I won't hijack this thread with other issues, however much related). No help from BB Support, of course...you go through a million steps only to just get something like "a software update is coming soon and it might take care of this, please be patient, I've logged this into the bugs tracker"....

Facetime has disappeared... & mutiple entries in contacts

I've seen various questions with same query but nothing works. Have restored to factory settings, rebooted and nothing. Under the facetime option on settings it simply says ...waiting to be activated. I have the latest iphone 4 and i have previously used facetime loads of times no problem. It has just gone/disappeared about 3 wks ago - from contacts, everything. On my contacts - there is simply no option at the bottom for face time. I migrated over to icloud recently and have had a few problems since then (missing files etc). Also - why do all my contacts multiply? I have loads of duplicate/triplicate and even more for the same entry. It is driving me mad. Thanks for any help in advance.

Just to say in answer to this that eventually i made a genius appointment in the apple store and they were completely flumoxed too. They tried restore and everything. Eventually disappared with my phone and returned with a new one for me. Face time was restored and everything was ok. All is well. Go to the apple store if you have one near you and let them sort it out. Good luck.
