Greek Text Not Displaying Properly (Characters being replaced with different ones)

Hi,
I am using Adobe Photoshop CS3. I have a spreadsheet of Greek translations. When I copy and paste the text into Photoshop, certain characters are missed out or replaced with an incorrect one. I have tried downloading fonts that support the Greek character set, but still no luck. If I paste this text into any other applications (Word, explorer etc) the text displays properly. I was wandering if there is a setting or anything in photoshop that I need to change? It seems to be an issue with this application only.
Many thanks,

Have you tried to set your system language to a European setting, e.g. Ireland or UK? Seems like an issue with incorrect Unicode conversion. Also turn off OpenType features for automated glyph replacement in the menu of the Character palette...

  • Chinese Characters Not Displayed Properly when iCal sync with Palm T5

    Hi All,

    Hello,
    I assume your flash disk is using FAT16/32...
    You need to specify the character set when mounting it. On the command line...
    # mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/mountpoint -o iocharset=utf8
    To include this option in the default VFAT mount options under GNOME, launch gconf-editor, look for the key: /system/storage/default_options/vfat and add iocharset=utf8 to the list of mount options.

  • Dynamic Text Field is not displaying foreign characters... HELP!

    I have a dynamic text field that is not displaying foreign characters properly. They appear as boxes.
    Here's what I've tried.
    Under properties for the text field, I clicked on the embed characters button. In there, I pasted all the special characters I would need and clicked okay. Shouldn't this be enough for the text to display properly? What am I missing? Please help...

    More info: I'm noticing that in the actual dynamic text field in my .FLA file, if I type a foreign character like é, it pops up as a block. My family font is set to New Caledonia... is it possible that New Caledonia doesn't have those particular glyphs? The thing that doesn't make sense to me though is, last year when I made this card, it worked fine with New Caledonia... Any help is greatly appreciated!!

  • OLE Objects are not displayed properly-overlap characters and empty page

    I'm using CR4E 12 Runtime libraries to load and view reports that are created in CR designer  v10. Some of the OLE Objects (not all) are not displayed properly.
    1) A full page contains terms and conditions as ole object is not at all displayed and just shown as black image.
    2) Some data in a table (OLE Object) shown as overlapped characters.
    Any body know the reason and is there any workaround to solve this issue?
    Thankyou very much for your time.

    Your problem seems to be with the character encoding you are using for your text.  A quick google search for ColdFusion character encoding should turn up the answer.  In case you are interested in learning more:

  • French special characters not displayed properly in discoverer 11g

    Gurus
    We are upgrading to discoverer 11.1.1.3
    I have found that French special characters (letters with accents) are not displayed properly in the discoverer tool menu.
    Example
    Sélectionner is displayed as S?lectionner.
    This doesn't seem to be a server issue as one of the tester (in U.S) is able to see the french characters displayed and ironically it is not the case in France itself where this is required.
    Please help
    Regards
    Ariv

    Pl post details of the two clients being used in this scenario - the exact OS version, browser version, browser language settings, Java version etc
    Since the accented character shows on one client , the issue is with the client or the settings on the client where the accented character is not showing correctly.

  • Unicode Characters not displaying properly after updating to 13.0.1+

    Previously, I had installed the Symbola font because certain symbols were not displaying properly in Firefox (notably on Twitter). Installing the font solved the problem for the most part (the four bit hex characters still didn't show up, but the six bit ones did).
    After updating to 13.0.1 the other day, the six bit hex codes do not show the correct symbol anymore with Symbola still installed. I even deleted Symbola from my fonts, redownloaded it (a newer version, no less), installed it, and opened Firefox, and it did not solve the issue. Like the 50 million other things that Firefox broke with the update to 13. -_-
    EDIT: This issue has since persisted with 14.0.1.

    Try to install the DejaVu font.

  • Pictures and texts are not displayed properly

    Hello Apple users,
    I've the 15 inch Macbook Pro with retina display, running Mountain Lion. I have noticed that when I chat with my friends in Facebook, the texts in the chat window are not displayed properly. This also happens when flipping through photos that were uploaded in Facebook. Also, pictures are not displayed properly in other websites. For example, today I was reading the news in the Guardian when I noticed that the top bar and a picture weren't displayed properly. The top bar should have showed News, Sports, Comment, Culture, Pensions, etc. all in the same line. Also look at the photo titiled "Should building socities do buy-to-let?" I took a screenshot from the guardian and you can see the photo here: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0ByQ7VP0wjFM-U0ZIOXlwMm13Vnc/edit?usp=sharing
    Do you guys have any suggestions how can I fix these issues?
    Thanks for reading and your help

  • Why do pages like natwest and ELC not display properly? It is like their text is too large, yet other pages are fine?

    I have abrand new ASUS notebook with a 11 and a half inch screen. I have up to date Windows system, and am using the latest version of firefox. I have gone through all the tips in the help section of firefox including clearing cache and cookies, and also checking all settings for text, however none of this has corrected the problem. For example when i log into my online banking the text is that big it doesnt fit into the boxes set on natwest screen, so therefore i can view all of the text and it gets jumbled together in some places. With ELC a good example is the menu across the top of the page which gives all of the categories of products they sell for you to click on. As the writing is too large it does not display properly. Im not sure what else to do to crrect this. Can anyone help?

    Try 2 things, if they can help:
    1. on the same window, where you have 1 of above site opened. Do ctrl + F5.
    2. Do Ctrl + shift + P, it will open a new private window and browse any of the above site.

  • Text item of varchar2(2000) with vertical scrollbar not displaying properly

    Hi,
    I have a text item of varchar2(2000) with a vertical scroll bar.
    I am populating data into the text item using a forms procedure.
    (Look at the sample code below)
    The problem is the rpadding is NOT displayed properly. I mean
    the detail records are NOT shown straight below their respective column heading
    in the text item. (BUT if I cut this stuff from the text item and paste it in a
    notepad, then the alignment is correct and the data is shown below their
    respective column headings)
    My code is something like below ...
    CURSOR c_get_lab_client_results
    IS
    SELECT res.lr_id lr_id, org.short_name org_name, TO_CHAR(res.specimen_taken_date,'DD-MON-YYYY') std, substr(res.accession_number,1,20) acc_num, res.lr_type lrtype, res.hdc_id hdcid
    FROM bc_organisations org,
    cq_laboratory_results res
    WHERE cli_id = :clients.cli_id
    AND lr_id = :results.lr_id
    AND res.org_id = org.org_id
    ORDER BY lr_id;
    Begin
    -- Header
    SELECT :TRFRDTLS.TRANSFER_DETAILS||RPAD('ORGANISATION',16,' ')||' '||RPAD('SPECIMEN DATE',15,' ')||' '||RPAD('ACCESSION NUMBER',20)||' '||RPAD('RESULTS',16,' ')||chr(10)||chr(10)
    INTO :TRFRDTLS.TRANSFER_DETAILS FROM DUAL;
    -- Detail
    FOR c1 IN c_get_lab_client_results LOOP
    ls_results := RPAD('XXXX',16,' '); -- Just for example
    SELECT :TRFRDTLS.TRANSFER_DETAILS||RPAD(TO_CHAR(c1.org_name),16,' ')||' '||RPAD(c1.std,15,' ')||' '||RPAD(c1.acc_num,20)||' '||ls_results||chr(10)
    INTO :TRFRDTLS.TRANSFER_DETAILS FROM DUAL;
    END LOOP;
    End;
    Thanks in advance.

    Try using a monospace font such as Courier New for the text item.

  • Servlet output not displayed properly in Internet Explorer

    Hi All,
    I'm developing a servlet which uploads a file. After the servlet parses the request body, it stores the file contents as a binary string in the database. While displaying the contents of the attached file, the IE(Internet Explorer) is ignoring all the newlines and spaces. IThe same uploaded file when viewed through Firefox browser is being displayed properly. I've added some debug statements to print the filecontent before sending it to servlet output stream. They look exactly as they were in the uploaded file. The MIME type is application/octet-stream.
    I've also made the response to accept "ISO-8859-1" and "UTF-8" charsets, yet the IE is not rendering the file contents properly. The code looks like this,
    response.setContentType("text/html; charset= ISO-8859-1, UTF-8");
    byte[] buff = attachment.getAttachObject();
    OutputStream out = response.getOutputStream();
    out.write(buff);
    out.close();
    I've tried using PrintWriter also. I've tried changing the content types, character encodings of request and response objects, still couldn't resolve the issue. What really baffles me is that when it's displaying properly in Firefox, why can't it render properly in IE? I'm using Win XP SP2, and IE version is 6.0.29. The content which is being sent to the output stream contains newline and space characters, but they are not displayed in the browser. Did any one face this sort of issue? Your help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Tarun.

    Hi,
    Thanks for looking into the issue. Let me tell you that I've tried keeping various content-types like text/plain, text/xml etc, but in none of those cases the IE rendered the output properly. But with the same content-type i.e text/html or text/plain, Firefox is able to render the file content properly. I've tried a brutal force approach like below,
    response.setContentType("text/plain");
    PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
    String str = new String(attachment.getAttachObject());
    char[] buff = str.toCharArray();
    for(i=0;i< buff.length; i++)
    int n = (int)buff;
    if(n == 10)
    out.println();
    else
    out.print(buff[i]);
    out.close();
    I was trying to print a newline whenever I find a newline character in the file content. Even this didn't work. Please suggest me some way to get rid of this problem.

  • Text not displaying

    I have been slowly converting an AS3 Flash IDE-based interface to Flash Builder, keeping up with the daily builds (for the most part) and reporting bugs as I go.
    For a long while, things were going great, aside from the several bugs that I reported.  At some point along the way, though, the text in my entire project started not displaying properly.  Certain characters do not display at all.
    It is a Windows standard font, though newer (Calibri), and the entire font set is currently embedded in the project.
    For some reason, most capital letters do not display, nor do certain special characters (underscore, etc)  Some lowercase letters don't display.
    It is always the same letters that don't display.
    I thought this was an issue with the build, but I rolled the SDK back the whole way to 4.0 (the original beta build) and it is happening there as well.  There is no rhyme or reason to it, as far as I can tell.
    Here is a screenshot with the problem:
    The tabs should read:
    Menu
    Important Points
    Glossary
    The menu list should read:
    Pre-Test Pt 1
    4800_020
    Fred Bauer Audio
    Learning Activity
    Learning Activity
    Fred Bauer Audio
    4800_020
    Learning Activity
    Learning Activity
    And the horizontal list at the bottom should read:
    Page 1
    2
    3
    4
    5
    6
    7
    8
    9
    Has anyone else encountered this type of problem? Any workarounds?

    Rich,
    +1 to Alex's simple test case suggestion.

  • Lately pdf files from the Web do not display properly; what is wrong and how can I fix it so I don't have to use IE?

    I am a professor and frequently need to open pdfs of academic journal articles from electronic databases. Within the last two or three weeks, when I try to do this using Firefox, only the first page of the pdf displays and the rest are blank. In addition, a bar appears across the top with the message "This pdf file may not display properly." So I have had to switch to Internet Explorer to open the files and do my research. What is going on and how can I fix it so I can open pdf files from the Web in Firefox and have them display properly?

    My question is simple - why would you put an application in production that has a lot of bugs? To replace a good and steady Adobe product? My customers will believe that I put a pathetic fallible form online. They are not sophisticated on computers so I just tell them to use IE. Ugh
    I must agree with pgwebgirl!
