Green background

Hello.
I want to film a short interview having a green background behind the subject that speaks and replace that by an still image. Is that possible to do in motion ? Is it simple to do or one must have a good experience of the program ? Is it easy afterwards to export from motion a DV video and import in FCP ?

hi,
motion is very capable of all of this, or indeed so is Final Cut pro. The problem you may have is in shooting the green screen in the first place. You must make sure that the screen is light as evenly as you can and that your subject is far enough away from it that you dont get any green light spill onto them.
in theory it is easy to do in motion, but in practice it can be tricky, depending on how well it has been shot. However there are tricks to help, and people here on the forum with experience.
Dont export a dv sequence from motion, instead simply import the motion file itself into fcp and use that.

How do I remove a green background from a pdf text document?

I posted this question yesterday and received one reply. I wanted to respond to the reply, but couldn't find a link or "button" to click on that would enable me to do that, so I'm doing it here. As I'm new to this site, please advise me where the link is, if there is one.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that PDF was proprietary, with one "owner" and that PDF was PDF, so it didn't matter what program you had on your computer because PDF was universal. Second, when I googled Nuance pdf, I was directed to this site, specifically the "Create, Edit and Export PDF's" section. Third, I also have Adobe Acrobat with pdf and a bunch ofother Adobe products on my computer. So, that brings me back to my original question, how do I get rid of a green background on a pdf text document, so I don't use up all my ink when I print it. Thanks for your patience and help.

Only get 1 frame or green background in RAM-Preview AE CS5.5

I've been working with AE for a few years now, and nothing like this has ever happened to me before:
I have a batch of quicktime videos (.mov)(stats are 1080 @24p) that play just fine outside of AE or Premiere. But when I stick them in and do a RAM-Preview, I get only the audio and 1 frame. If I scroll through the video I may get another frame or 2 if i'm lucky, or a dark green background. I have no idea what could possibly be doing this. And it happens in Premeire Pro CS 5.5 as well.
Stats for my mac are 4 gb of RAM and running OSX Mavricks

Codec is AAC, H.264, 2 Channel Audio, etc.
Opening up a file with VLC gives me 516 streams ( ! ) with
Stream 0 having Audio | MPEG AAC Audio (mp4a) | Stereo | 48000 Hz
Stream(s) 1 - 516 having Video | H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10)(avc1) | 1920x1080 | Frame rate of 23.9744...
Some, however, have the (correct) decoding of Planer 4:2:0 YUV, as of which I believe this causes the Purp/Green colors & sometimes dropped frame.

Due note that the movies where recorded as AVCHD, then opened into Quicktime and then saved as a .MOV for greater flexibility with different programs.
Would it be worth it to try and find the .MTS files again, and use those?
Or, if they have gone missing, what would I do anyways?

If you want the whole of the project background to be white, you can change the colour in FCP X preferences.
If you just want white for a section or clip, use a custom Generator from the Generators Library and change it to white in the Inspector.

I can use my ipad to send messages, but it only moniltors the ones i send with the ipad. All the other messages I get on my iphone are missing.

"The bubble in the green background" indicates the message was an SMS (cellular text) message. If the background were blue, it would mean the message was an iMessage.
The difference is important. Your iPad is not a cellular telephone. It cannot send or receive cellular text or MMS messages. It is, however, an Apple device which means it can communicate using Apple's iMessage to/from other Apple devices (typically over WiFi).

Removing green background from videos (Chromakeying)

I am currently trying to use JMF to remove green background from the videos I have recorded. I am trying to merge 2 videos ( 1 video in the background) and (this video w/green bacground removed in the foreground). Does merge.java from JMF do the job for the second part? Please help!!

Merging works only with one video sitting on top of another, but the top video positioned on the top left corner. Is there some way to have the top video positioned in the center? I am using the merge.java file from the JMF solutions. Any way to remove the green/blue background of a video using Java codes? Or is there a freeware tool to do so and then have the java program call it?

Blue object on green background for green screen effect?

Hi. I am inserting an image into my video and need the background to be invisible. I use the green screen/blue screen feature, but it doesn't work because the picture I am using is of a blue object. A blue object on a green background. The green background disappears but the blue object turns brown. Is there any way I can exclude my blue object from the green screen/blue screen effect? maybe, your blue is too greenish… ?
Play with the color-correction tool (red arrows)… maybe you can fix it that way....

Chroma keyer won't select my green background?

so I have my selected clip. I dragged the chroma key onto the clip. Then select the color selector tool and clicked it on the green background.... nothing happens. Infact, if I keep clicking the foreground image I don't want to dissappear starts to checker. Am I missing a step? Is there something that I need to select prior to chroma keying a green screen?

Green background after upgrade

I recently upgraded to 5.1.4 and now find my Viewer and Canvas have a green background even though it is set to black. Have switched this setting around and back to black but to no avail.
How do I get it to be black again?

Is everything else working OK? I've had a situation where the viewer and canvas are green and I'd often get errors when I'd try to load clips or sequences. It seemed to be related to quicktime and firewire. Shutting down, disconnecting everything from the firewire ports, and unplugging the computer for 15 minutes sometimes fixed it. I also found that if a sequence wouldn't load, if I selected it in the browser and changed the codec and then changed the codec back to DV, everything would get back to normal. Post back and give us more details.

Purple Squares and Green background while previewing in Idvd

Video in Quick Time is fine, but when ( put it into iDVD the PREVIEW shows red/purple dots with green background over the video. How can I get rid of this 'glitch'?

Change your computers desktop background to a solid black. When you do this do you see the green and purple dots? I'm guessing the problem could be with your graphics card and not iDVD.

i tried in it adobe after effects but i had to walk through all the frames and color the background to green (and it worked just fine).
but, as you can imagine it tool alon long long time.
is there any optio doing it in motion 5 or final cut?

that is the only way to accomplish that (rotoscoping).
for a (color)key you need a solid colored background, black, white or any color.
I'm using here a 4€ fleece blanket and it (mostly…) works like charme - FCXP/M5 color-keying is very convenient to use.

Since I got my iPhone4 whenever I sent a message the sent message showed up in a box with a green background. Yesterday the background switched from green to blue. Does this signify anything?

Does the background color of the box containing a sent message have any significance? As in, it was green and now it's blue.

Messages sent when blue don't use up your SMS plan with your carrier, purely data through Apple.

Idvd 7.1 wont import 1080i60 1280*720, green background and pink squares appear. If I export h264, it works fine.

This kind of export works fine in idvd 7.0.4 in osx 10.5.8. Did anything change?
It will import a 1080i exported QT, when I don't change the size. The sequence setting is 1440*1080, but when exported at native size the file will not play at 16:9 in dvd player. When I have previoulsy exported 1080i60 1440*1080, with reducing the size to 1280*720, idvd was OK and the DVD looked great (aspect ratio) on both the TV and computer (DVD Player). When I don't change the size, it looks great on a TV but DVDplayer on the computer is forcing 4:3.

I have also been experiencing the problem of green and pink squares in iDVD preview. However, having discovered it does not affect the finial dvd, I have decided not to persue the problem. I have spent many hours on this and also many trips to the Genius Bar and achieved nothing. At the end of the day, it works, so leave well alone.

Subjects are grainy and have less resolution when I key out green background

After I have chosen the color of the green screen to key out and adjusted my 'clip black' and 'clip white' setting, I am still finding that my subjects are grainy and have lost some resolution. Any suggestion on how to fix this?

Hi,
Another tip, is to not allow Keylight to do a "final result" output, rather set it to do a "intermediate result". I dont know if this is a best practice, but I find that AE does some pretty hectic colour correction if allowed to do its own thing. Once I get an intermediate result, I usually add a copy of the "Spill Suppressor" effect.
I find that the final result adds a lot of edge crawl to the key I am pulling (although I am aware that I am still working at getting the correct balance to Screen lighting and Talent lighting)
