Green/black screen

My videos have audio but the screen is green or black. Adobe help says shockwave flash is installed, but I can't find it on my computer.

"Green Screen" is nearly ALWAYS caused by either outdated or corrupted video drivers.
Even if they're showing as fully up to date, they can be "broken".
Update them from the manufacturer, NOT Windows update.

Even if a check says they're up to date, download and install them, you'll usually have an option to "repair" during the process. Choose that if you see it.

  • My iPhone 4 is frozen on a green/black screen and refuses to do anything!!

So I was charging my iPhone 4 on my computer, and I was transferring some concert videos from my iPhone to my cmoputer to create space. Anyway, about half way through the process of pasting my video's to my computer folder, my iPhone decided to 'time out' and turn black for a good 30-40 seconds. I was frantic and pressed my home button repetitively and tapped my screen etc. and nothing would happen. Eventually my screen came back for a split second, before displaying my screen as a lime-y colour with a black glow on screen's sides and corners. Over about an hour, the lime-y colour has decreased, leaving the black corners to increase and now it is almost covering all of my phones screen! I'm unsure about what I should do from here. What caused this 'green screen of death'? How can I prevent this from happening? Do I have to replace my iPhone? Apple must be entitled to replacing my phone without my warranty coming into play? Will this cost? Will my photos and videos be recovered? PLEASE HELP.

    Hey lumpy15,
The following article addresses your issue:

    Display shows a white screen
    1. Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
    2. If the iPhone will not turn off, try to reset it.
    3. If that doesn't work, try restoring the device.
If you are unable to restore your device due to damage, you may need to seek service.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

    short answer:
you're editing in the wrong codec - convert into appleintermediate or proRes BEFORE usage in an editor.
    long answer:
screenshots proof, you don't edit camera material, looks more like screen-recordings. most screen-recorders, encode into h264 - which is not intended for editing, due to its interframe compression. when you edit within a GOP/missing an i-frame on edit, infos gets lost => picture kaputt.
for in-depth info on this issue, wiki yourself
converting material into an intraframe-compressed codec (as AIC or proRes) allows editing with frame-precision without loss of picture content.
    THANK YOU! It worked!
    And
I make my dock blue with dock doctor. Google it its an app that lets you edit your dock and you can get custom skins for it

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Apple TV 1G black screen or green and violet colors please help me

Hi, I have an apple tv 1G and from one day to another is not black screen, the strange thing is that on another monitor "HP w2207" looks good. But I've tested Sony LED TV, LG, .... and does not work in some apple when starting out and color is violet and green and looks bad but does not exit the main menu. I've reinstalled the factory, I tried to change resolution I miss everything but nothing. I'm desperate please help me

I also periodically have this purple/green color showing on the screen when I turn on and sometimes it happens when I turn on Directv so not an Apple TV issue.  I believe in my case it is the HDMI cable/port causing it.  But it corrects and gives normal picture if I turn off the tv and all devices and turn all on again.

  • My Time Capsule backups disappeared (blank black screens) and in trying to set it up again I now find that when TC is plugged in and on (green light) it cancels out wifi reception from my router. I am only using TC as a backup not for wifi. Help!

Sorry, you have lost me since it appears that you have two completely separate issues here.
All that I can suggest is you start over and try to set up the Time Capsule again first...and then, once that is done and the Time Capsule is working correctly on the network....then, try to troubleshoot the separate Time Machine issue.
If you decide that you want to do this, we'll need some basic information:
Make and model number of your modem?
You are using OS X Mavericks (10.9.3), correct?

  • My Macbook air (only 2 months old) has a black screen and I cannot see to get signed on, the keyboard seems to be on as I can see via having put on the Caps key which lights up and also the power cable when connected is at green how do I fix this?

I have been faced with a Black screen this morning when I have gone to sign in/open my Macbook air this morning.  I can see that the keyboard seems to be on as the caps key when pressed is lighting up as is my charger cable link, however have noticed that the apple logo is not lit up.  Any thoughts?

Try resetting SMC and NVRAP and then reboot.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
Try booting the Recovery Partition.  Power off, boot and then hold down the Command and R keys.  Is the screen still black?  If so it is not a software problem so take it in for diagnosis and repairs.  Make a Genius Bar reservation http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/ or find an Apple Authorized Service Provider https://locate.apple.com/country .
If you are running Mavericks try upgrading to 10.9.2.  It has a fix for black screen problems.

  • Ipod touch 4 has a black screen with white and green lines across it and wont turn off

My sons ipod touch has a black screen with sometimes white lines and then flashes to colored lines. Also when i try to turn it off it turns right back on and has the apple symbol but then goes back to black screen with lines. what to do?

    - Try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try again.
    - If still problem time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Green light on during video chat but black screen

When I video chat, I am able to see the other person & my light is on but I only see a black screen. My microphone works. I am able to videochat using googlechat.

First off go to System Preferences and the Display option and check it is set to Millions.
If it is Restart the Mac whilst holding down the AppleALT+PR keys all at the same time until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.
If that does not work do this

  • Black screen and fan running full- bore

Computer was running fine when I closed the lid (no shutdown) to put it to sleep for the night. Next morning as usual I opened the lid but the screen showed no signs of waking up. The battery was apparently dead so I plugged it in. Pushed the power button and the fan came on full-bore and the screen never showed a sign of coming to life. Restart, no help. Attempted to zap the PRAM but no signs that the key commands were recognized. (2 month old keyboard after the computer took a nasty fall and the old one popped out damaging the ribbon cable connector). Inserted a disk I thought would allow the computer to boot off of, it did some spinning but no change in computer's operational status. Eject button or key commands now fail to get the CD out. The only way to restart is to press power button until computer goes off then press again to start. The fan just keeps on running but nothing on the screen.
Connected computer to external monitor, no help, even after restarting. The monitor is connected to a G4 platinum tower so I know it works.
I also don't see a way to eject the inserted CD manually as command E, eject button, won't eject it.
I'm at a loss! First time a Mac has gotten the best of me. None of my years of little trick gathering has helped.

I tried holding down the trackpad button (forever), no help.
Was the computer all the way off (no lights, fan, sounds, etc.)?
Hold down the power button for ten seconds to shut everything off. If that doesn't do the trick, unplug the power adapter and remove the main battery. Then put them back, hold down the trackpad button, and start up. Is your CD ejected this time? If not, shut everything down again.
If it's a bootable CD, try booting to it after resetting the PRAM: hold down the p and r keys while starting up, and keep holding them down until you've heard three or four startup chimes (if you hear any). After the chimes, release those keys and immediately press the c key to force the PB to try to start up from the CD. Any luck? If the CD isn't a bootable one, of course there's no point in trying this step.
I tried restarting in the firmware mode (command, option, O, F), no help.
I don't know anything about that, so I'm no help with it either.
Before the black screen problem I noticed the battery would run down to zero overnight when the lid was closed and computer was sleeping. I'm not sure this is normal.
Definitely NOT normal, and this is undoubtedly a clue to what's wrong. Something is allowing the battery to drain when it shouldn't. (Batteries, actually, since the backup battery will also drain completely within 10-15 minutes after the main battery, if no AC adapter is connected.) This strongly suggests a short circuit to me. But tell me: do you always leave the Powerbook sleeping on battery power overnight, without the AC adapter connected? Or does the battery drain even with the adapter connected? That would point to a fault in the adapter or in the charging circuitry inside the Powerbook.
A short circuit might leave marks on the surfaces that are coming into contact and shouldn't be. Check the inside of the bottom panel, the logic board surface components, the underside of the keyboard, and whatever else you can see for visible signs of shorting. If you can see that something has been shorting against the inside of the bottom panel, as has occasionally been reported here, cover the affected spot with a small piece of electrical tape to insulate it. Tighten all visible screws — you'll need Phillips #0 and Torx #8 drivers. Look for empty screw holes: a screw wandering around loose inside could cause untold damage.
My AC adapter appears to work fine, it, like the battery, is only a couple of months old. Thing ringlight shows normally.
By "normally," do you mean orange while charging, green when the battery is fully charged, and never flashing, red, or off? That's what normal is.
If you haven't tried to recharge your internal backup battery as described in step 6 of the "Testing Backup Battery" article I linked above, do. Of course you won't be able to see or set the date and time or verify that the battery has been charged, but you can at least do what is supposed to charge it and hope for the best. Again, if it is discharged and hasn't been recharged in the course of all your machinations so far, everything else you do is doomed to fail until it gets recharged.
If after that nothing has changed, you might try disconnecting the backup battery from the logic board. Doing so will sometimes allow a PB to start up that has been prevented from doing so by a stone-dead backup battery. Consult the iFixit Guide for your particular Tibook model to find out exactly where the backup battery connector is in it. In my 1GHz Tibook, it's a small white connector under the right-hand Shift key, with red, white and black wires attached.
If none of this helps, I'm afraid you're due for a trip to the repair shop.
