Green Cast in Print

I have exported an image from LR (my display is calibrated and profiled) and sent it to a lab. What came back had a green cast on part of the image (with and without optimization enabled).
I have uploaded the exported image and would appreciate if somebody with a calibrated/profiled display could have a look at it:
I can see 3 main colors in the area of the eruption:
a white center
a yellow band outside of the white
orange/red outside of the yellow band
What came back was quite green where I can see the yellow band. I can see no green at all in this image. Can anybody confirm the me, that the band outside of the white is yellow, and maybe what I should do to avoid the wrong prints?
Thanks

I softproofed your image to the profile of my local Costcos (wholesale chain all through the US) and the yellow center turns greenish upon doing that. My guess is they use similar machines to the Frontiers that costcos uses. The problem is that the yellow center is out of the gamut of such lab printers and that can result in color shifts if they color manage. If the lab you are using supplies profiles, use those to soft proof. You might also have success deleting the profile from your file. This will make their not color manage.

  • Green cast when printing

How can I get rid of the green/yellow cast over my images in the newest Aperture 3.4.5? Photoshop CS5 prints perfectly using the same profile and settings. I have repaired the database. No effect

You marked this as solved but I'm thinking that was a mistake.
Does the image look ok when you view it in Aperture? You say when you print it from CS5 it looks OK. How do you get the image from Aperture to CS5?
You never mentioned your printer. When you print from Aperture you can have Aperture manage the color profile or the printer can manage it. Make sure only one of them is or else you will have troubles.

  • Printed photos have strong green cast

Since I upgraded to Lion all photos I print on my HP PhotoSmart 3310 have a very strong green cast, especially in the shadows.
I have tried printing directly from Aperture and also exporting the image then printing from Preview and it makes no difference. I have also reset the printing system by folowing this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1341
A test page print from my printer looks fine so I don't think it's anything to do with the hardware itself.
Any ideas why this would be happening and any suggestions for further troubleshooting?

  • Green Hue when Printing on Epson Stylus Pro 9600

    I have an iMac
I've just upgraded to Photoshop CS5
I've downloaded the newest drivers for my Epson Printer
I've attempted to print using Adobe 1998, SRGB, and a special ICC profile made just for my printer/type of paper
Each time I print my photos have a green cast over them. Everything looks perfect on the Mac, but when it prints, everything is green. Please help

Okay so it looks like that took the green tinge off the pages and now they are just printing darker than they should, so I cleaned the nozzles, and am messing around with the settings again and hopefully this means I'm on the right track to getting perfectly colored prints again. Thank you very much. I'll call Epson from here with the fine tuning. I can't believe I missed such an easy fix. Well I thought I had it, but didn't double check that it stuck!

  • Magenta cast when printing from any app in Mountain Lion

I get a serious magenta cast when printing from any application using my Epson R3000 inkjet. I am aware of the double profile issue. For example in Photoshop I let it do the color management. ML automatically turns off printer color management. My monitor is calibrated with Xrite Color Munki. I did not have this issue before upgrading to ML 8.2. Is there a driver issue?

In System Preferences->Monitors->color is the correct
    color profile set?
Do you you have the correct profile for the printer
    selected in Photoshop?
Also, are you using Proof Setup in Views?
Need to ask since sometimes a person can stare at
something too long and think it is correct (done it myself often).
It may not be a driver but an issue with color profiles.
It is possible one or more of the color profiles may be corrupted.
Go to Utilities->ColorSync Utility select and run Profile First Aid.
See if problems found in profiles.
Using PS CS6 myself and have not seen any such issues with

  • Sudden green cast on PS7 under XPsp3

Despite not colour profiling my monitor (I am not a pro user), I have never had any colour hassles with PS7.  Until now.  Suddenly everything I look at via PS7  has a green cast.  First noticed it on my summer holiday pix, went aaaghh!, am now troubleshooting.
It's not the camera.  My whole archive has gone greenish, when looked at with PS7.  When looked at with with system browers, and with Windows Picture Viewer, everything looks as normal.
I haven't changed any PS settings, but something has changed and not for the better.  I can colour correct manually, sort of (dialing up cyan, blue, and magenta!), but this is not viable for all my work.
I have tried some obvious colour settings tweaks, like turning colour mgmt on and off, but nothing stops the green.
I suspect that there is some Windows 'update' (which I do automatically) that has fried my ability to use PS 7, and since PS 7 is no longer being updated there won't be a fix for it, from Adobe.
Does anyone have any advice for making PS7 usable again?  I really can't afford to buy CS at the moment.

Hunting around a bit more, looks like it could be my video driver that's gone sour?    More ideas welcome...!

  • Why videos have a green cast and poor picture

All of the sudden videos on my phone have a green cast to them and look like a digital interfearance. It's happening on all videos. Both ones I have taken and ones on you tube. Anyone else have this problem?

You might have a hardware issue, the display might be damaged/going bad. I would try quitting All Apps and then restart the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesn't help, reset your iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
You could try restoring the iPad as well, but I don't know that it would help.

  • Current Lightroom / Camera Raw Camera Profile for Sony ILCE-6000 inaccurate: green cast in shadows! Capture one better! Please fix it!

    Hi folks from Adobe!
Please take note that the current Lightroom / Adobe Camera Raw Camera Profile for the Sony ILCE-6000 is very inaccurate: There is a serious green cast in the shadows!
Capture One Express for Sony (which is free by the way) renders a lot more correctly!
Please correct this, since I'd rather buy the coming LR6 because of keeping my established workflow instead of going the Capture One route.
A good example can be found in the dpreview forum "LR5 A6K shadow pulling, a mess! Adobe LR is broken? "
Or search for Philp Reeves 3 weeks with the Sony A6000 review "3 Wochen mit der a6000", where he compares it to the Sony A7, using both times Lightroom to push the shadows.
The Sony A7 is fine where earth looks like brown earth, the A6000 picture looks like grass instead.
Please fix this! This is a high volume camera frequently bought by enthusiast or as second body for FF photographers. That would be really great!

I am talking about the two raw files linked in the very last post of page 6 of the Reeves comparison thread, not JPGs or screenshots of unknown manipulation.  In LR they both say f/11 and ISO 100 and have a similar tone, but one is shot at twice the shutter speed as the other.  This side-by-side is using Adobe Factory Defaults for each image where the profile is Adobe Standard, the toning sliders are all 0, tone-curve linear, and the Sharpening and Color NR are 25:
However, when I look at the camera-embedded JPGs, side-by-side, the 1/80th image on the left is darker than the 1/40th image on the right, as expected given the reported shutter-speed difference:
And it is indeed the darker image that has more shadow problems, also as expected.
When I do manipulate the darker (a6000) raw file in LR, I do see that the shadows are greenish when brightened unlike most other cameras which usually show magenta, which is the combination of the blue and red sensors showing more noise because there are half-as-many photosites as compared to the green, so I am seeing what people are complaining about and would expect shadow noise to be purple not green, I'm more concerned that these two example raws aren't actually comparable due to apparent differences in exposure.  It is also odd that the lens listed in LR is different than the lens listed in the filename, so either someone has mistakenly or deliberately renamed the file wrong or someone or something has changed the EXIF parameters that LR is reporting to be the same when they're really not.

  • Pink colour cast when printing from iphoto

When I try printing from iPhoto to a Canon MG6150 I get a pink colour cast.  The preview shows correct colour and I'm running out of paper with my attempts to sort it!
What has gone wrong as everything else seems fine?

Do you get the same results if you print the same photos from Preview? If not then it's definitely an iPhoto issue.  If you get the same it's possibly more of a system issue or printer adjustment.
Check the Color Options (Printer)  and Color Matching (iPhoto) settings in the print window. You might try tweeking some of them.
Your print window should have something similar.

  • Strange flickering green cast to screen.

The last I used my Powerbook it seemed to running fine, that was yesterday. This morning I was about to go out and went to unplug it from the AC adapter and noticed the fan running. I thought that was odd since I hadn't been running many apps nor was I asking much of it with heavy graphics. I shut it down and put it away. I booted it and the fan came on right away. As I logged in on my user I noticed green flashes starting to occur, at first they were slight and limited to random parts of the screen. But as those apps in Start Up began to open the flickering became more incessant and covered more of the screen. I powered down and by that point the images on the screen were entirely cast in green.

You MAY have a GPU issue, you can take it to an Apple Genius for a free diagnosis, they will offer options from there.
They have the tools and experience as they do all day/everyday, it will cost you nothing to find out, and then find out what it may cost to "make it right"

  • Strong color cast in prints

I'm printing from Aperture to an Epson R800 and the prints come out with a very strong red/brown color. Its not like a subtle cast from, say a miscalibrated monitor (monitor is a Dell 2407 WFP A02 calibrated with a Huey pro).
I have the following relevant settings:
    Printer profile: SPR800 prem glossy
Media Type: premium lossy photo paper
    Advanced/Best photo/Gloss on.
AFAIK these are the correct settings.
I spoke to Epson who suggest I use colour controls to correct the color cast - what price colour management!

first tested Lightroom 2.1 and it works as it should so does PSE4 but not PSE6
PSE6 Mac Printing Colours darker than PSE4 - Adobe accepts fault
My work requires that when I create prints for artists I must replicate all the prints exactly everytime. It worked perfectly from PSE2, PSE3 and PSE4 but now......

After weeks of discussions phone, email and after testing using their work flow....they came back with some answers.
Finally a couple of replies from Adobe re colour problems and they have accepted that they are double managing the image and that I should use printer management to do the colour conversion.. here are their two replies and the comment that they will now drop me until???????

Thank you for contacting Adobe Technical Support.

After consulting with my colleagues about the issue you raised, I can let you know the following:

The issue is both on our as well as the driver software side and the workaround we have given is the best available at this time. This issue is affecting all printers, not just Epson or Canon.

The soft proofing effect that you are seeing in the print preview is indeed an attempt at soft proofing. However since Photoshop Elements managed prints are incorrectly double colour managed it is not as useful as it was initially designed.

As to the exact details of why this occurred, we have no official information.

We believe that this will resolve the issues you are experiencing, however, should the reply not help solve the problem, please contact us again, quoting the case number given above, and we will re-open the case.

Subject: Re: Adobe TS #180107025 / Mario / PSE6 oversaturated Print (KMM3793441I51L0KM)

Dear Mr. Laugesen,

We have had word back from our engineers regarding your issue.

The Photoshop Elements team are aware of the problem and are working with Apple and the printer manufacturers to get this to work correctly. In the meantime, the only workaround is to switch off colour management in Photoshop Elements and let the printer handle the colour management.

Unfortunately we can not make an estimation as to when a fix will be provided. We will close the case for the time being as there really is nothing more we can do about this issue besides offering the suggested workaround. Closing this case does not mean that the research will stop however and the engineers are working on a solution to this.

  • Color cast when printing from Lightroom with Epson 3880 printer

Just got an epson 3880 printer. Printing on epson paper is fine. But printing on Ilford or Moab or other papers from lightroom and photoshop have a terrible magenta color cast.
WHen I print the same image from Preview, with the same print driver settings, it looks fine. So somehow the adobe apps (or my settings) are messing up the color sync.
I used to have an espon 2400 which worked just fine.
I have Mac OSX-10.9.1. Monitor is calibrated. (Prints to epson paper with their profiles look great...it's just other profiles that are really bad).
    I need help!

Are you using moab icc profiles or are you using one of the epson profiles?
I always use the moab profiles which you can download from their Web site. This way you are matching the specific epson printer with the specific moab paper.
At that point you change the printer manages color to Lightroom manages color and select the specific profile. Very easy to do - they even have instructions on the Moab site for installing the profiles if you haven't done that.
Once installed you can also use them through the system print dialogs in PS but it is really much much easier to use in LR - Since coming on board with LR last summer, I have switched to doing ALL printing from LR. Since you mentioned that you are having the same problem with LR and PS, I'm betting you are using epson profiles and this will solve your problem.
    Hope so
    Tom

  • Colour Casts in Prints From Aperture

    Hello,
I have read reams of material on calibration and profiling -- probably too much, because I'm more confused than I
    was when I started.
    This is my set up:
    Nikon D300.
Mac Pro + GeForce 7300GT + Mac Cinema Display (20 inch).
    Photoshop CS3 + Apple Aperture (2.1)
HP Photosmart 8250 (with HP cartridges)
    This is my general workflow:
Pictures imported from camera into Aperture. Best shots are roundtripped to Photoshop, tweaked and then
re-imported back into Aperture as 16bit tiffs. A lot of these .tiffs are exported from CS3 in Lab Color Mode (I
don't know if this makes any difference -- I'm clutching at straws!)
    This is my problem:
A3 prints of my shots done by a local photography shop look amazing. The colours match the colours I see on my
monitor. They're crisp and bright and everything I could wish for.
However I have tried printing A4 prints locally (from Aperture) on my printer and there are different coloured
    casts that ruin the pictures.
I have tried different Aperture device profiles... including the System Managed profile & the profile for the HP
photo paper that I use and the shots have either a strong yellow cast or a strong pink cast depending upon the
    profile I use.
My set-up hasn't been calibrated, and -- at this point in time -- I can't afford a calibrating device... can
anyone make any suggestions as to how I can get better results printing at home through Aperture, please?
    Thank you very much!
    Adam

I no longer get a colour cast.
I started with 1.5 and had some books printed these were fine. My old Canon 965i was used for printing and I got some casts adn I decided to get the B9180. Just before this I switched to Aperture 2 and now 2.1. Immediately I had colour casts and through this forum I found that I was not alone. The general view at that time was that it was a calibration issue but enough people who knew what they were talking about disproved that. The various options were to print through IPhoto, PS, PSE or some other external soutce. We all to a greater or less degree had some success.
During this time 2.1.1 came out and HP appeared to offer an updated driver.
In my case I re-installed everything, including the printer Firmware and carefully read everything that everybody had to say on the subject, thus in ColrSync I made sure that I had the same paper specified, that I specified it in soft proofing and that I specified it in the print menu and I variously set my Gamma between 1.05 and 1.2. I no longer have the cast but usualyl I have to do some tweaking and use a few sheets. Mostly this is with adjusting the Gamma.
I cannot understand teh attitude of Apple on this topic and some others whereby they have professionals dependent on their product andthey do not, as I woudl expect in a customer support oriented organisation, even acknowledge teh problem, let alone give out any information. I would be happer (if I was a pro) if I heard comforting words like 'We know about this, it seems to be caused by xxx and we are working on a solution but in the meantime try bbbb.'
The principle, in my view, should be 'You be the photographer, we will provide the tools.'
