  • MBP Green Glowing Light in-between F5 & F6 ? ? ?  Could not log in!

Was watching a game (streaming) and put it to sleep, then opened the MAC right back open (about 3 seconds), the wheel never stopped spinning and my F5-F6 keys had a green glowing light underneath it.
What is that? Should I be worried?
    Thanks!

Thanks - wow, well I don't have the warranty and it was in the nice comfy computer bag and it fell off the bed onto carpet - very low fall, hardly made a noise. Was in sleep mode.
So anything weird and I am like freaking out.
Think I will get that 3 year warranty. Just in case.
    Thoughts?

  • Green glow on iPhone 5 unlock screen?

I've had my iPhone 5 for a few days now and I've noticed this issue more and more. Whenever I wake my iPhone there is a split second where a green glow around the edge of the screen is visible. It's a bit like light leakage but its green and only appears for a fraction of a second after you turn on the screen. It is also sometimes activated by using the slide to unlock, which makes it glow brighter.
Does anyone else have this happening with their new iPhone? I don't know if this is the start of a defect or not... I have had very rare graphical flickering and tearing of the keyboard UI, but that's only happened once or twice and only for a second, as soon as I started typing it went away.
It looks like this might turn into a trip to the Apple store, I just wanted to know if anyone else has noticed this weird phenomenon on their new iPhones.

I tried screenshotting it, but its not picking up the green glow in any of the captures (not surprising).
Here is a quick photoshop to give you an idea of what it looks like:

  • IPhone 5 green glow at bottom of screen when 'woken up'

Got my black 16GB iPhone 5 from phones4u on the 17th November 2012. 2 weeks after I had it, I noticed a green glow appear at the bottom of the screen when I pressed one of the buttons to wake it up. This only happened when the phone had been locked for 5 minutes or more. Gradually, it started happening after every time I woke the phone up. I put up with it as I didn't think I'd be able to get it repaired/replaced. On the 20th December, the lock button on top of the phone started to not work on the right hand side, only worked if I pressed the left side of the button. Enough was enough and I made an appointment with a genius at my nearest apple store (Birmingham). I went to my appointment on the 5th January. The genius was really helpful and he replaced my phone there and then. Yesterday I started to notice a slight green glow around the bottom of the screen when it has been 'sleeping' for around 10 minutes. I have had this new phone less than a week and I am pretty hacked off. I don't know whether to go back and explain the problem and how angry I am, as I never had this trouble with my iPhone 4! It's not affecting use of the phone but it's an annoying trait considering the cost of it!
    Is anyone else experiencing this?

i got my 15" i7 HR glossy macbook pro yesterday, just like Webmaestro, i noticed the EXACT screen back-light bleeding behavior on my machine during it's first boot up.
however, beside this back-light bleeding, the screen is beautiful, very bright & crispy color, no yellow tinge , no dead or stuck pixels.
been going through several 27" yellow iMac nightmares in the past few months. right now i am struggling and worry if i'd get a replacement macbook pro which would come up with something even worst than what i am having now.
did some researches on the internet and found this :
    http://www.anandtech.com/Gallery/Album/649#
those images also show some subtle backlight bleeding at the bottom of the 2010 macbook pro screens which makes me think that there's actually no perfect apple laptop screen that ever exist. (…i got a 5 years old dell and a 3 years old sony laptop both are with the same resolution and their screen has zero backlight bleeding, very even back light illumination. )
i am wondering if it is just me being too picky for a perfect apple screen that will never exist?
the apple stores lighting here in ginza is just too bright that i could not check and see if there's any backlight bleeding on those macbook pros on display. Genius are nice but i know what exactly they are going to tell me if i ever ask them if my machine's screen is normal.
maybe there are many many other 2010 macbook pro owners who got the same backlight bleeding screens but they just don't ever care about that much?
if ALL macbook pro has this kind of "subtle" backlight bleeding behavior. i am cool with my machine; but if this problem belongs to the apple QC department, i am not sure if i want to get myself into another never ending replacement/return loop again after the very bad 27"imac experience.
here's the data of my screen: 9CB6, LTN154MT07.
thank you for reading, just wanna share some thoughts…
    cheers.

I just wanted to follow this up by saying that you were entirely correct in your diagnosis of the situation.  My computer did have the faulty part you linked to.  I brought my laptop in and specifically told them to run that test, had it fail and then argued with the person at the genius bar and the manager.  Eventually they offered to have it sent out and have everything replaced for free of charge.  They did so mainly because I had complained about graphical issues almost every other time I had come in with problems and no one ran the test.  They should have caught this problem during my warranty, but they didn't, even though I mentioned the problem.
Anyhow, after having the part replaced, I haven't had my computer crash a single time since, or had many of the issues mentioned above.  I've never had this experience before.  Even brand new, I got occasional crashes.  Hopefully this new trend continues.
I do find that web browsing is still incredibly slow.  Web browsers just chug along at a slow pace, even though I have great internet speed.  Maybe I'll try just deleting my web browsers and reinstalling them...
Anyhow, thank you for your help and knowledge Clinton.

  • IPhone 5 green glow when powering on.

I've got a green glow when powering on my iPhone5. The longer I don't use my iPhone the bigger the glow is. Overtime the glow is getting bigger and bigger and it is now visible in all four corners of my screen. After powering on, the weird green glow fades away. What should I do?

I had the same problem. I called apple suport and got a replacement. TnT came and collected the iPhone and deliverd me a new.

  • Photo Booth - green camera light on - no picture showing

The green camera light fo the iSight camera is lit up. but when i go to Photo Booth, there is only a black screen - no image is showing, Can anyone tell me how to get an image?
    Thank you.
    Anne

    Hello Anne, (joyfulsoul)
Merely restarting you Mac may also fix your problem. If not, disconnect any USB peripherals and restart your Mac to see if the problem was caused by a conflict.
If your problem persists after the restart, try all relevant suggestions from Apple's How to Troubleshoot iSight.
If the reset suggested there does not correct your problem, and if PB is the ONLY app that does NOT work properly with ANY app that uses iSight in ANY user account that you test, quit Photo Booth. Then delete the Photo Booth Preferences file (com.apple.photobooth.plist) from your Home / Library / Preferences folder. Then launch Photo Booth again and see if the problem is corrected.
If none of the above helps and you need to post back for other suggestions, please list EVERY apps that work correctly with your iSight and EVERY one that does not. Also tell us whether the problem is EXACTLY the same in every user account you tested.
If necessary, we will offer specific suggestions based on the details in your response.

  • 3400c will not boot/ green power light remains on

Strange thing happened. We lost power while I was away and when I came back my 3400c was on (the green power light was lit) but it will not boot, shut down or power up. Will not respond to the power button or force quit keys. I tried removing the cd drive, the battery and unplugging but when I reconnect the power all that I get is the green light. No internal noise, won't boot. Also, I tried pressing the reset "button" in the back and the green light will flash but nothing else happens. It hasn't been my main computer for awhile and I no longer have it connected to the internet but it is nice for the kids to run their cd games on it. Anyone have any idea on how I can go about troubleshooting this laptop.

I've done a ton of tinkering with my 3400c, and currently am having fun installing Linux on it. Through my adventures with this thing, I've occasionally seen the stationary green light.
I'd recommend removing what's in the media bay, and any PCMCIA cards, unplugging all components and removing the battery.
Disconnect the unit from power and press the PMU reset button on the back, and hold it for several seconds.
Let the unit sit for about 10 minutes, just to be on the thorough side. Then reconnect the power cable (no battery/media bay necessary). What SHOULD happen is an immediate boot chime.
If the issue persists, you might try booting into open firmware:
Hold down Option + Apple + O + F, and press the power key on upper right of keyboard while holding these keys. Hold them down until you (hopefully) see a grayish-white screen.
If so, type these lines, return after each one:
    init-nvram
    set-defaults
    reset-all
If all goes well, should reboot normally. If not, you may have a hardware issue on your hands. I'd try disassembling it and removing debris, looking for loose components or any point of failure, but if not you may require a new logic board. Luckily, either a 3400c or Kanga G3 board will work with these models if that's the case. (Only caviat is that the ram that originally came with some 3400c models will not work on the Kanga logic boards).

  • One dot not lit in macbook air green isight light

does anyone know what makes up the green isight light in 2012 macbook air?  I notice that one "dot" is not lit.  Not sure if I sure if it's worth taking to store to fix etc. although still under warranty.   Don't want them to open the screen for one tiny LED light. Is it many tiny bulbs or just one?  Would appreciate any info!

As far as I know, it is only one LED.  If the green indicator lights when in use and goes out when not, I don't think anything is wrong.  However, if you want an authoritative answer, contact Apple MacBook Air Support.  They can tell you if a service visit is in order.

  • Green Glow?

What is this green glow I keep reading about with the battery? My battery on the main screen fills with green as it charges and the icon in the corner changes when its full. Can someone fill me in the the glow part?
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Actually PTBoater, there's a bit more to this sadly-obsessive "green glow" yarn... The 411 is, from the "glow initiated crowd", is that you only get the real glow when that last sliver on the right is gone, the whole battery is green and the "charged" plug icon appears in the center of the green battery. At that point, and only at that point, will the green battery glow more brightly than before. Kind of like the most holy of grails. I kid you not...
I tried to convince them that it was only a bug, that didn't actually affect the charge of the iPhone (only the indication on the screen), but they shooed me away for being a non-believer.
...And that's the whole 411 on the infamous green glowing battery.
All you kids to bed now...

  • Dim Green glow on Charger

Hello. I have an issue regarding my Macbook Pro. I've had it since 2011. Not sure if it is early or mid or later but that's the year I've had it. A few months ago, around August, I noticed something peculiar with my charger. One night I got home from work and noticed my charger had a dim green glow on it. I checked my computer and found that it hadn't charged my computer while I was away. However, I simply unplugged it and plugged it back in and it went back to normal and began to charge. I then noticed it did the same thing a few days later and the same fix helped it. I called Apple Care and the guy suggested an SMC reset. I did that but I still noticed the issue, but also found out I can make it go away but moving the charger while it is in its port; almost as if I am realigning it. I called Apple Care again and after telling the guy my whole story, he suggested that it was probably the charger. Now I've looked on the internet and I've seen many people having a similar issue and the usual answer I've read is "The logic board is going bad". But my computer is still working. The keyboard lights up, it still holds a charge, and 99 percent of the time the charger works perfectly. Hearing that they declared "that I would know if the logic board is going bad".
Another representative said the same thing and even suggested that perhaps it might be the charger port in the computer itself. Now I am trying to relax after all this but still the whole thing is making me nervous. Part of me wants to believe them but there is still the part that feels it is something worse. Still Apple seems confident it is the charger and not something internal. At the moment my computer is working fine. Sure it occasionally freezes for a few seconds after I wake it from sleep mode, but otherwise it is pretty reliable. Heck I even drained the battery to zero and the charger brought it back to 100 percent no problem. I guess I'm trying to curb my worries and hopefully get other opinions.
Any thoughts would be appreciated as I don't want to shelve out money for a new computer anytime soon. I also plan to take it to a nearby geek center to try their charger and play around with it so I can determine if it is the charger or the port.

If the 2 computers have the correct cable connections, try the Target Disk Mode. You can copy your data to an external hard drive or make a clone to the external. Then proceed with the repairs.
    Target Disk Mode - Mavericks
Clone  - Carbon Copy Cloner          (Often recommended as it has more features than some others)
    Clone – Data Backup
    Clone – Deja Vu
    Clone  - SuperDuper
    Clone - Synk
