Green light flashing on my power cord

I used my fully charged mac book today for most of the day with having it plugged in.
when it notified me that I was running on the last 10 minutes of battery I went and got my power cable and plugged it in as normal to find that the green light flashed when I plugged in the power cable. When I pull out the power cable it stops flashing and turns to sloid green, not once have I seen it go amber like it should when it is charging.
What does this mean?
I can still turn my mac on but it isn't charging at all and the screen flickers in rhythm with the flashing green light.

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
From the stats you give you should be eligible for a free replacement battery under the following program: http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/
This provides warranty extension if your 1-yr warranty extension has expired. ( I always recommend paying for the Applecare extension for laptops.)
To get this you might need to print this page and take it with you. The program is worldwide. Your dealer should cooperate as should Apple (NZ). Be polite but don't accept 'No' as an answer.
Best of luck.

  • Satellite L500 is OFF and green light flashes if connected to mains

    HELP!!
I have a L500 which does nothing apart from the green light flashes when the power cable is plugged in but does nothing else

    Hi
What indicator do you mean exactly?
The DC indicator (first from left) glows green when the power is being correctly supplied from AC adaptor. If the output voltage is abnormal or if the computers power supply malfunctions this indicator will go OFF.
The other indicator (power led second from left) glows green when the computer is turned on. If you turn the computer off into sleep, this LED starts flashing amber.
Furthermore if there is a memory malfunction the Power LED will repeatedly flash
On for 0.5 sec and off 0.5 sec
If there is an issue with slot A the LED flashes amber twice then green once
If there is an error in slot B, the LED flashes amber once then green twice
If there is error in slot A and B the LED flashes twice amber and green.
But if the power LED flashes only green, I assume there is a motherboard problem.

  • I have macair bought 2009. Bluetooth connect with mouse and keypad not working. It used to work. Batteries are good. Green light flashes on each device, but no connection. Any suggestions to help me here? Thanks.

    Dear Community,
I have a macbook air bought new in 2009. Since 2011 I only use it occasionally as I  now mainly use my iMac. The mouse and keyboard that came with the macbook air used to work fine with bluetooth connection to the macbookair, but now they don't. The batteries are good. The green light flashes showing it is seeking other bluetooth device to connect to. But they wont connect to my macbookair. What could the problem be? Your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for that. Yes I checked that already and BT enabled. Yes, external keyboard. But I just moved the computer to different part of room and bingo the devices paired and connected. So problem now solved. Thanks for offering your help.

  • Extreme Base Station - green lights flashing in back, no light on front

My Apple Extreme Base Station isn't broadcasting a WiFi signal and isn't creating a network for ethernet. The green lights on the back by each port are flashing about every second, but the front indicator doesn't show a light (no green, no amber, no nothin'). The base station doesn't show up on AirPort Utility, even though it's connected via Ethernet cable.
I tried doing a hard reset (turning off station for a couple minutes, holding in reset button - plugging in power - and continuing to hold reset button) but nothing seems to be working.
Is this dead? Or is there another solution to bring it back to life. Thanks if you have a fix!

An internal power supply has failed on the AirPort Extreme. Unfortunately, Apple does not offer repairs or repair parts, so not much that you can do other than replace the device.
The A1143 was discontinued in March 2009, so the device is at least 5+ years old, likely older. Unfortunately, 5 years....on average.....is about all that you can expect from routers designed for home use.

My MacBook do not boot when I press power button. The green light on the side flashes for few secends.

    Dear Apple-Friends! Dear Imola!
Thank you so much for your Memorial Day Super Fast Answer. Nothing has helped though and right now the support line is closed as it is 11:10 p.m. local time. will call them tomorrow morning and see what we can do. But this ***** so much, I waited 2 weeks for the machine to arrive, almost two weeks 'cause I bought it the moment it arrived in the online store.
I called Apple USA but they are closed because of Memorial Day. ;-(
    Tough luck, I guess!
    Cheers,

  • I have the ishuffle 2nd generation. When I plug in, itunes recognizes it but it will not charge. The green light flashes a few times but then goes out. I'm not sure if the battery is dead or if something else can be done. Any advice?

I have the ishuffle 2nd generation. When I plug it it, itunes recognizes it but the light flashes green a few times and then stops. It is not charging. Is the battery dead or can something else be wrong? Any advice??

To rule out a problem with the shuffle's onboard software, I would try a Restore on the shuffle using iTunes.  The Restore button is on the shuffle's Settings screen in iTunes.  This will erase the shuffle, reinstall its software, and set it to default settings.
If that does not help, you should do a test to confirm there is not a problem on the USB port, such as lack of power to operate the iPod and charge it battery.  Shut down (power off) the computer and disconnect all USB devices including hub, except for standard keyboard and mouse (if normally used).  If the computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter (so that it's not running on battery power).  Do this to reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1655
Start up computer, run iTunes, and connect shuffle to a direct USB port on the computer.
If that does not help, it is more likely that the problem is a hardware problem on the shuffle, such as the battery.

  • HT3205 Green light flashing on and off every second

What is indicated by the green light on the charger going off and on every second?

Usually it is a charger or battery issue.
    Try a SMC reset:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT396
Use the method which applies to your Mac, a battery you should remove (most likely)
You can also check the battery status by clicking on the Apple logo and About This Mac, More info or system profile (depending on which oSX you are using as it is not in your profile) Power in the left side bar and check battery health and other stats.

  • Apple Aluminium Wireless Keyboard - Bluetooth setup sees the keyboard but then green light flashes and it won't pair

I am desperately hoping someone can help me out here...
I have a 1st generation aluminium Apple Wireless Keyboard — the one that needs three batteries, as opposed to two — and it refuses to pair with any of my three Macs.
I was originally using it — for a few years — on an old G4 Mac Mini running Tiger then later on, Leopard.
I recently sold the Mini but in the days leading up to the sale some strange things were happening with the keyboard ...the number '7' key became non-responsive 90% of the time and the Keyboard Viewer app showed it as being constantly pressed down. Every other key was working 100% ok.
Fast forward a few days after the sale of my Mini: Now when I try to connect the keyboard to any of my other Macs, the Bluetooth Setup sees the keyboard no problem at all but when I click 'Continue' to go the the pairing stage, the process just keeps failing!
Whenever I turn my keyboard on I get the expected solid green light for two or three seconds, but after that the keyboard's green light keeps repeatedly blinking until I turn the keyboard off again.
I did notice that the Bluetooth Setup will only ever see the keyboard in those first few seconds when the light is a solid green ...if I wait until the lights starts blinking and then start up the Bluetooth Setup, it does not see the keyboard at all.
If anyone can shed any light on this, I would be enternally grateful!!!! ...especially as I was recently made redundant — that's 'Laid-off' for any Americans reading this! — and I would rather not have to buy yet another expensive Apple keyboard when I'm jobless and really should not have to!!!
I read about a lot of people who's Macs sinply don't see their keyboard, but it's extra frustrating for me as my Macs do see the keyboard but won't bloody well pair with it!
Thanks again to anyone taking the time to read this!

The keyboard and mouse should have come from the factory already paired to the Mac. But if it didn't see this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1809

  • USB 6251 Active light flashes once on power up, then no activity

    Hi,
My USB-6251's active light flashes once when turned on, followed by no further activity by either Active or Ready lights (both are off). The computer shows no recognition of the device. This is when plugged into a confirmed operating wall outlet and attached to a computer that previously recognized and used the device. I opened the device and can confirm that the replaceable fuse is not broken. Any ideas?
    Cody

If you have been able to talk to the device before, then I am assuming that something must have gone wrong with the device itself. Best is to call NI's customer services and get the device repaired.

  • HP Monitor L1710 -- power light flashes green when I turn on PC, screen flickers black w/ no image

    Hello,
Last night I turned off my PC w/ a HP Monitor L1710, which I did not turn off. When I turned on my PC this morning the screen does not "turn on" -- the green light next to the power button flashes on and off, and the screen flickers between shades of black, like it's trying to turn of. This PC usually is not turned off at night (this is a work PC, and I just started to working at this desk (almost) never turned the PC off at night, so I wonder if it has something to do with that. I've turned the PC on and off multiple times, unplugged the power cable (for the monitor) and cable that runs from the monitor to the PC. I believe the PC is on (cd drive opens and closes, recognizes my phone when I plug it in to charge), so I don't think that is the problem.
I see a lot online that it may be stuck in power saving mode.
Any thoughts? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated

    Hello @tom_degennaro,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that your monitor is not coming on when you turn on your PC. I am setting out some steps for you to try for you to try below:
Step 1. Unplug the power cord from the monitor and the wall outlet
Step 2. Hold the power button down for one minute
Step 3. Plug the power cord back into the monitor and then the wall outlet (not a powerbar or surge protector)
Step 4. Press the Menu button on the front of the monitor
Step 5. Navigate to the Factory Reset option and select it.
If the issue still persists after the above steps try the monitor on another computer. If the monitor still does not work at that point then, it appears to be a physical issue and I think it would be best if you contact HP Technical Support for repair options.
If however the monitor works on another computer you have an issue with the computer it was originally on. If the computer is an HP computer I would be happy to assist you with, but first I would encourage you to post your product number for the computer. I am linking an HP Support document below that will show you how to find your product number. As well, if you could indicate which operating system you are using. And whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit as with this and the product number I can provide you with accurate information.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Please re-post with the requested information and I would be happy to provide you with assistance. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

    You are very welcome, again.
I have a preference for Corsair Products.  I suggest a PSU of at least 500W; 600 is even better.  Modular is a good way to go in smaller mid-size cases.  You only have to use the cables that are needed to connect a component.  This allows for more space for good airflow.

  • 2011 Macbook Pro 13, green light on magsafe, but not charging, not powering on

Hi there, I have a Macbook Pro 13 early 2011 i5, and it's stoped working, when it's on the charger the green light comes on, when i pres battery indicator on the side of mbp there is only one green light flashing. when i press power button nothing hapends, mbp wont turn on, i have tried to do the reset, did not helped. Maby someone had, the same problem and knows how to fix it, or knows if its completle dead, and not worth to fix. Thanks

Take the machine to an Apple Store or an AASP and have them run diagnostics on it. They will give you a quote on how much it would cost to fix your machine. Then you can decide if it's worth repairing or if its just time to replace it.
I'm assuming that you didn't buy the extended AppleCare warranty? Too bad - if you had the machine would likely be repaired free of charge...

  • What Does Flashing Green Power Cord Light Mean?

Today, my MacBook Pro Retina charging cord started showing a flashing green light on the mag-safe connector.  What does this mean and how can I fix it?

This sounds like some sort of power issue.
Are you using the 3 prong plug or the 2 prong (dusk head)? If you are using the dusk head try the 3 prong.
You can try a SMC reset:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
Also read thru this and check all that it suggests:
    Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters
    Check/clean pins/sockets
If still no joy there may a damaged conductor in the cable/attachment to the brick issue.
You can take it to an Apple Genius bar for a free diagnosis/evaluation, bring both the computer and the power supply.
Make an appointment first, as they can be quite busy:
