Green & orange blinkers!

I returned my shuffle to the apple store where I purchased it 13 months ago. That combination or green/orange blinkings lights did not go over too well. I tried resetting and adding music as suggested by the support page. A few tries later, my PC didn't even recognize the shuffle was plugged in.
The nice gentleman at the apple store said that mine was no longer functional and I would have to purchase a new shuffle. He also asked if I had dropped it in water or if I had sweat on it.
I thought these were made for exercise? I've had other mp3 players that continued to function as the rust accumulated on the usb port.
99 bucks for 13 months...I am not pleased with my first trip to the apple world.
I made a b-line to best buy where I purchased a Samsung for the the same price as the shuffle.
I have had mp3 players since they came out. I have replaced them as newer(smaller) models became available or when they rusted beyond hope...the shuffle lasted the the shorted time span.
is there anything I could have done to keep the thing functional?

Is there a way to add different colors besides the green, orange, and purple if you have more than 3 things going on in a particular day??
    Thanks

The color of an event is dictated by the color of the calendar that it's asigned to.
Click the Calendar button, right click on one of your calendars and choose Get Info.
There you'll find a color drop down menu.  If you don't like any of the default color click, click Other and you'll get access to an infinte number of choices.

  • Green, Orange, Green...

I have a question... My battery is on its 85 cycle, and well, when my battery is charging, every once in while the Light flashes Green, Orange, Green, Orange... and doesn't stop. What does this mean? Do I need a new battery? I have no idea... thanks for your time and help....
    Sincerely,
    Cubo

I was noticing increasing "time until charged" times on my macbook; it also had the symptom of shutting down with no warning when I was sure that there was at least 33% left on the battery, if not more.
Today, I brought it into the Genius Bar and the Tech reset the SMC and it appeared to work there - but he failed to check to see if it would accept a charge from an A/C power supply. I got home and plugged it in and now the light flashes from green to orange and back to green. Additionally, the time until charged has increased from 55 mins when I first plugged it in to 3hr15mins as I write this. It's still holding steady at an 85% charge the whole time.
    Other symptoms:
    * If I unplug the A/C adaptor, the fan calms down.
    * If I use the small adaptor plug (instead of the long cord), it started to charge normally, but now appears to be counting up again in charge time and the flashing is back. Darn.
    * I have two batteries (I bought an extra for long bus rides just a month ago and the other is the replacement I got from the original silent recall). For both batteries, the "time until charged" increases after being connected to A/C power. It looks like it flashes from orange to green for one of them (the elder) and not the other.
My guess is that the A/C adaptor is kaput. I'll take it in tomorrow and update the thread with any progress.

  • Green-orange-orange-orange

got the dreaded green-orange-orange-orange lights when trying to use the ipod. went through the recommended trouble shooting and got nowhere. downloaded the reset utility from apple. it's been sitting there blinking for 40 minutes now.
    i'm on a g5 mac, latest updates.
the computer really hates restarting with the ipod plugged in.
can play music off the ipod through itunes on the computer. so at least part of it still works.
i'd take it to the apple store, but they're going to be busy dealing with **** off iphone customers for the next week or so.

  • Green orange green orange green orange . no sound?

Ok so shuffle appears ok in itunes. Seemingly can add and remove tracks. Turn shuffle on and shows green. Press play and get green orange green orange green orange (always 3 times alternate) then no light and no sound?
Trying to restore as a starter and chapter 5 page 26 of the manual says go to source (devices?) then settings and and i should then be able to see a versions section and be able to hit a restore but all i can see is playing randomly/autofilling and reserving space for disc usage options.
Anyone now what the issue is or how i can restore factory settings as a starter?

This happens when you load the shuffle with Podcasts, which by default are set to "Skip when shuffling" and you also have the shuffle set to Shuffle, therefore the 'pod has no media it can play and it 'freaks out'. Check to see whether this matches your situation. If so, switch from 'shuffle' to 'continuous play' or load music instead of podcasts onto the 'pod.

  • Macbook pro is not getting turn on and further when i press power button the green orange light suddenly changes to green again, moreover battery meter is not working

    Hi
Last night my macbook pro gets off automatically when battery gets empty and in the morning it isn't turning on. When i connect the charger, the light on the charger turns green to orange (showing that it is charging) but when i press the power button it suddenly changes to green again. I thought there must not be any connection between the charger light and the power button. And battery meter was running fine.
When it tried this again and again the charger light disappear and battery meter also stops working, when i clearly observe it there is a very dim green light in the charger (not observable in the light) and the laptop is still not showing any change.
    please help!

  • Alternating Green / Orange Light - Charging and On Battery

I am seeing the battery charge status alternating from charging to not charging and at the same time the adapter ring is from Orange to Green on a random basis. It is almost like the power adapter is loose, but I tried 2 seperate adapters and the same thing happens. Now, once the powerbook is fully charged the problems seem to vanish unless you actually wiggle the cord.
I have tried resetting the power management with holding down the power button after unplugging and removing battery. I also have tried the COMMAND-OPTION-P-R keypress on startup. The battery has 300 cycles.
Does anyone have any ideas that I can try or is this a DC Board that needs to be replaced?
    Powerbook G4 - Alumn. 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Just a follow-up for anyone else having this problem.
After a very unsatisfactory issue with AppleCare I went into the local Apple store and waited for 2 hours to see a Genious. He was helpful and noticed the cord was loose (great observation since I had told him that) and he gave me a new power supply. I have to say, he tried to help. Got the powerbook home, plugged in with the new power supply and guess what? Same issue again. I was so impressed. Anyways, a few weeks ago when the problem started I had orderd a new DC board from powerbookmedic.com (I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE DOING THIS!!!!) and followed some directions, took it apart and changed the board. Guess what, problem solved.
I am writing some letters over the next few days to Apple. They need to train their techs on the phone to LISTEN to the customer. Every contact I have had was to try and NOT do anything. It is totally unsatisfactory.

  • Power Adapter Ring alternating Green/Orange

The LED on my PB power adapter keeps alternating between green for about 2 seconds and then orange for about a second. This happens continuously. I've tried 2 different adapters.
    Any ideas?

I also have similar problems. My machine is not so far gone. The battery works normally and seems to have a proper charge life. The problem for me is during recharging. Like so many other people on this forum, my mac's ac adaptor light alternates from green to orange while trying to charge. the icon alternates from a percentage charging to a frustrating 'no batteries available' message. I have 2 bateries, both seem fine. The amount of users with similar problems confirms this. I have tried every possible angle, including a drastic zeroing of the hard disk and fresh install of the system and my software. I updated to 10.4.6 right away, not making the connection that it may be the cause. I tried resets to the PMU, I bought a secong power adaptor.
    ATTENTION APPLE MODERATORS -
Please help us and respond to this! Please have a look at how many similar posts there are with no real solutions. The recent batter update did not address this problem.

  • My notebook blacked out & Charger keeps Turing green & orange & laptop won't turn on

My notebook blacked out & Charger keeps Turing green & orange & laptop won't turn on , I need your help.

Which model MBP do you have (15" late 2011, for example).
There are a number of things you could try - restarting in Safe Mode (start up with teh Shift key held down), resetting the SMC, etc., but I don't really think that those 'quick fixes' are going to help.
If I were you, I would just take the machine into your local Apple Store and have them run diagnostics on the unit. If it's out of warranty, they'll give you an estimate for repair and will charge you nothing for the diagnosis and estimate.
Sounds as if you've a hardware issue... maybe try running the Apple Hardware Test and see if you've any errors?
    Good luck,

  • Apples green/orange blinky solution?

I spoke with apple tech today about my 512 ipod problem, and they claim the shuffle is blinking and cannot be updated by my mac because it is a hardware problem and not a software update issue, and the only solution is to buy the extended warranty for $59.95. I ask them if they read this forum and noticed the thousands of complaints with all the same issue and the response was-"hey we have sold millions of shuffles and a few thousand complaints is less than 1%"
The tech even stated that he would not recommend buying a refurbished 512 from Apple's site for $49.00, buying a new ipod is the best purchase.
So is the solution to my shuffle problem, to just keep buying new ones for $69.00, and another $59.95 for the warranty and keep in swapin' with apple for three years, or is there a better product out there?

  • A FIX FOR THE GREEN-ORANGE-GREEN GOBLIN!!!!!!!!!

Is it the software version of ITUNES? Has anyone thought of this? Has anyone else tried uninstalling the latest version of Itunes, 6.0.4.2 and replaced it with an earlier version like 6.0.2.23? I did this and now my "dead" IPOD (that could not be fixed) was suddenly resurrected.

PROBABLY ANOTHER SOLUTION. Same problem, my trackpad and keyboard used to freeze 3 to 4 times every day. I think I found a solution that is working for me. If you take the battery out you will see the connectors for the keyboard and the trackpad. It seems like there is a hardware problem with these connections which do not work properly due to warming conditions coming from the battery or there is some kind of contact between these connections and the battery due to the connections are a little loose. So I placed a plastic film between the battery and these connectors and the problem disappeared for 2 days now. In my case I used one of those films used to protect ipod screed from scratches.

  • Getting the green/orange/green/orange/green/orange flashers

I have just got a new shuffle and when I plug it into my computer I see it and I am able to load music onto it and itunes validates that there is music there. I have FULLY charged it and now when I try to listen to music it gives me the "error no music loaded" set of blinking lights.
    help!
what simple thing have I not done or done wrong?

I was having the same Windows 2000 issue after I downloaded the new version and did the 5 R's on their website. That didn't work - so, I called Apple this morning and was told shuffles were not compatible with Windows 2000. However, after explaining that my shuffle had worked until I downloaded that version, and much complaining, Apple agreed to send me a new Ipod. Keep in mind, my Ipod was still under warranty. The new Ipod is supposed to sync with the existing program and as long as I do not upload the new version - all should be just fine and the new Ipod will work....I got my new IPOD in 2 days and it works fine now - just don't say yes to the message about downloading the new version - which you will get once you connect the new IPOD for the first time.
