Green Screen appears when trying to boot into windows7 64bit using bootcamp

I sometimes get a GREEN SCREEN appearing when i try to boot into windows7 64bit using bootcamp. The computer freezes on this green screen and i have to power down the computer and restart it sometimes twice before it will load windows. Any suggestions on how to correct this problem???
Computer specs: 15" macbook pro, i7 processor, 4GB RAM, 512MB nividia GT330M graphics,
Bootcamp version 3.0.2, Windows7 64bit ultimate installed on a 100GB partition.

Thanks for responding. I'm actually trying to set up the Mac mii as my VMware ESXi 5 server (per Paraguin software guide, see http://paraguin.com/2012/01/10/the-mac-mini-vmware-esxi-5-server-part-2-installa tion/
Nobody following their procedures and posting on their site has had any (reported) video issues, but that was my guess, that somehow video drivers are not being loaded.
BTW, did you mean "hold the option key" at bootup cause my mac keyboard doesn't have an alt key?
Thanks. Still looking for other options.

  • Green screen appearing when trying to play back videos

    Hi everyone.
I tried to play some of my videos today and for some of my videos (I downloaded from Itunes a few months ago), a green screen appears and then it goes black and all I can hear is audio. Anyone have this problem and found a way to correct this? My only other option would be to repurchase these videos, which is something I don't want to do. Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Black screen when trying to boot into Windows 7

    Hello everyone.
Today we've encountered an issue with one of our MacBook Pros with Windows 7 installed. The computer was booted into Windows 7 (it's strictly used as a Windows machine by this particular user) and after a time of inactivity it went to sleep. It wouldn't wake up from it's sleep so we tried a hard boot. At that point we would get the grey screen, the Apple tone wouldn't sound off and it would just go to a black screen (by default we have it booting to windows). So then we reset the PRAM. Now, we get the apple tone and we can boot into the Mac side. But when we try and boot into Windows, we get a blank screen.
What's even more interesting, if I try and boot into a Windows install disk to do a boot repair, it gives me a black screen. If I even try to boot from a live Linux cd, I get a blank screen! When important thing I then noticed was that the cd spinned for a couple minutes, then stopped. So I began to wonder if it was still loading the OS like expected, but just wasn't displaying it.
So I booted into Windows, got the blank black screen. Then I went into another computer, fired up remote desktop and voila! I'm in the machine!
So the problem is this: When booting into ANYTHING other than OS X, the display turns off.
    What can we do?

    Hello there,
I have a similar problem! Windows 7 shutdown unexpectedly and since that I can not reboot in windows anymore only with safe mode where everything is a mess.
Also when it's trying to reboot in windows a blue window appears, says something about drivers  and it is counting something (79.78...till100)but  I m not able to read it cause it disappears immidiately and then black screen and then it turns to reboot in mac which works fine.
I m sorry if I confused you with my english...
    If anyone knows please help!
    Thanks

  • Keyboard doesn't appear when trying to type into Numbers cell

I'm having a strange problem trying to use the latest Numbers app on my iPad 2,.
I opened a new spreadsheet but the virtual keyboard doesn't appear when I try to enter text in a cell.  I can only get the "Paste" option.  When I hit that, it enters text I'd cut and pasted from a NY Times article into a Facebook post two days ago.  I thought that I'd just paste it then delete that column later but when I move to the next column, the same "Paste" option appears.
I can title the spreadsheet; I just can't type into the body of the spreadsheet.  The spreadsheet and cells aren't locked.
I've been using the latest version of Numbers on my desktop with no issues at all.  I have no idea why this is happening.  Any suggestions?  Thanx.

    Hi William,
Things are working the way the were intended to. A single tap on a cell brings up the Cut/Copy/Paste/Delete/Fill/Comment menu. A double tap brings up the input screen. If the cell is formatted as text you will get the text keyboard right away. If formatted as a date or number then those screens show. You are given the option to change the data type here. If you are in a form you will be ruled by the format and unable to change it there.

  • Green Screen shows when trying to play videos?

Since downloading itunes 8, all of my videos don't work. When you click on them to play, a green screen shows up, and nothing else. And, if I try to play them on Quicktime Player, it doesn't work, either. I tried to enable the Direct3D video acceleration like it said in an article I found, but again, it didn't work.
I'm sure this topic has been brought up before, but if someone would help, that would be great!
    Thanks

  • Is it possible to bypass the number of partitions limitation (no more than 2) when trying to boot into windows by not using boot camp assistant, and instead just partitioning the drive manually?

I can't find a specific answer to this question.
I did have a functioning Windows 8 installation on my MacBook Pro previously. I tried to make a third exFAT partition so as to have a drive mutually readable/writable to both operating systems. This made it so I could no longer boot into my Windows installation.
I know I'll need the boot camp drivers installed on the Windows installation after the fact, but would manually creating a partition and installing the OS without Boot Camp Assistant work? And would I be able to boot from it while having a total of 3 partitions?

    That's the spirit!
Just be sure to have your OS X junk safe in a tested backup, in case the whole thing craps out and you end up having to do a low-level partition and erase of the entire drive.
And like I said, the problem is not OS X. I've set up mine at least once with 4 partitions holding as many flavors of OS X as can run on the hardware, all perfectly bootable on demand.

  • Common 'Green Screen" problem when trying to view videos in iTunes

I love the show "Surface" on NBC so I decided to download the first pilot episode #101 to iTunes for Windows on my computer. When I go to "full screen" mode to watch the program it goes to a "green screen" washout that is common when Quicktime is installed whether the version 1.68 alternative or the Apple Quicktime. How do I solve this common known problem?

Anyone have any ideas or need more info, if so please let me know. This is very frustrating.

  • Green screen appears when I freeze frame chroma key video footage

I need to create a jpg/still image of the video I am producing. The video was shot with a green screen and edited with the chroma key effect and looks fine - but when I "Make a Freeze Frame" the green screen reappears in the image. Help!?

    That should not happen.
Even if your sequence is unrendered or the clip wth the chroma key is selected on the timeline, it will normally export correctly.
    Next step...
    Deleting FCP Preferences:
Open a Finder window. Set the view mode to columns:
Click the house icon that has your name next to it.
Click the folder "Library" in the next column.
Find and click the folder "Preferences" in the next column.
Find and click the folder "Final Cut Pro User Data" in the next column.
Move the files "Final Cut Pro 6.0 Prefs", "Final Cut Pro Obj Cache" and "Final Cut Pro Prof Cache" to the Trash and empty it.
When you have a stable set of preference files, download [Preference Manager|http://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm] to back them up.

  • The Tale of the Beeping Macbook - AKA- My Macbook Pro keeps beeping when trying to boot into Snow Leopard Disc's disk utility

Quick back story:  about a month ago my macbook was falling and I caught it quickly, I had a game controller in my hand and it lightly hit it whilst I was catching it; the laptop made no contact with the floor, couch etc.  Upon reveling in my epic matrix esque catch I noticed it was beeping and the screen was completely black - Horrified I held down the power button for a forced power down and then turned it back on to see that it was fine, along with no visible scars, dents etc to the chassis.  Now flash forward to present day, and the macbook pro is only two months old (bought may 4th 2011) and I notice it's got some slightly irregular slow loading points when loading a browser, photoshop, etc.  I do the standard disk utility to verify the disc and it says
    "Checking volume bitmap.
    Checking volume information.
    Invalid volume file count
(It should be 537095 instead of 537096)
    Invalid volume directory count
(It should be 161641 instead of 161640)
The volume Macintosh HD was found corrupt and needs to be repaired.
Error: This disk needs to be repaired. Start up your computer with another disk (such as your Mac OS X installation disc), and then use Disk Utility to repair this disk."
So I put in the snow leopard disc to go to the disk utility within, reboot the laptop, and it goes to the gray boot screen with the dark gray apple logo and stays there whilst doing the aforementioned beep from my spider-sense catch.  Does anyone happen to know what is wrong?  Would that tiny tap from my controller when catching it have caused this problem I have now?  Is there anything I can do at home to fix this since I can't get to the disk utility on the snow leopard disk?  Will Batman ever get out of the Joker's trap?  Or am I better off just making a genius bar appointment?  Thanks in advance.
    -ZRS

Are you using the Snow Leopard disc that came with that Mac?  A gray disc that came with a different Mac won't boot yours, and a Retail (white) disc with a version of OSX earlier than the one your Mac came with won't boot it, either.
If you don't have the right disc, do you have an external HD, or can you borrow one?
(By the way, your post shows you're running Tiger; you might want to update that.)

  • I get an error message when trying to sign into the support community with another Apple id. On the pick a username screen I get "an account utilizing this address already exists...." despite trying a few usernames. Anyone know how I can resolve this?

I get an error message when trying to sign into the support community with another Apple id. On the <pick a username> screen I get "an account utilizing this address already exists.Only one account per email address is allowed on the Apple Support Communities" despite trying a few usernames. Anyone know how I can resolve this?

This problem has been driving me demented. The instructions that Ivan gives have partially worked for me. By following his link
"How to find out if you have multiple Apple IDs" I was able to identify that yes I did have two apple accounts using the same e mail address. One was very old that I used to use for the forum boards and one is my much more recent ID that I use for everything these days. So I changed the e mail address for the old account which is associated with these discussion boards and that's the account that I am now posting this from. However even though the two accounts now have different e mail addresses when I try to log onto the boards with my more recent main apple ID I still get all the same errors as described at the start of this thread by rodgers_j. And of course that's the one I want to use so that I only have one itunes account for everything.
So if anyone has any more hints I'd be very grateful.

  • HT204408 When trying to log into face time I get the registering device does not have appropriate credentials, I have OSX 10.8.4 on my Mac Pro. I can log in using my IPAD

When trying to log into face time I get the registering device does not have appropriate credentials after I sign in, I have OSX 10.8.4 on my Mac Pro. I can log into face time without a problem using my IPAD.>

Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the issue is reolved. If there's no resolution after Step 3, post your results.
    Step 1
Sign out of iMessage in the Accounts tab of the preferences dialog, then sign back in.
    Step 2
Log out of your user account and log back in.
    Step 3
Boot in safe mode and test, then reboot as usual and test again.
Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.

  • When trying to sign into facebook in settings for ios6, I get an error that says "You cannot sign in from your iPhone since you have opted out of Facebook Platform." What gives?

When trying to sign into facebook in settings for ios6, I get an error that says "You cannot sign in from your iPhone since you have opted out of Facebook Platform." What gives?
More info: I've combed through the settings in facebook and there is nothing that shows I'm blocking anything from accessing it.

Sure sounds like a Facebook setting. When you look at your Privacy Settings in Facebook (on facebook.com), you should see something under "Apps you use" that says
Turn off your ability to use apps, plugins, and websites on and off Facebook. After you turn this off, we will not store information about you when you use apps or websites off Facebook.
The "Turn off" is a hyperlink that shuts down the Facebook platform. If you don't see this, or if the wording is different, you may have (inadvertently?) shut this off, and should be able to turn it back on.
Edit: The sequence to that screen on facebook.com is: Privacy Settings (from the upper right dropdown), then "Ads, Apps and Websites" will have an "Edit settings" link to the right. This is where you'll see the "Apps you use" screen.

So I tried Windows XP on boot camp and ofcourse it says it's not installed when it clearly is >_>
So I restored and when I boot up it tries to boot into windows, when it loads it says Disk Error insert boot disk. When I hold alt it only shows Macinstosh HD.

The last line in your post says "I've just re-partitioned and restored to Mac full partition again so I need to reboot and see if that works"
Rebooting should take you to OSX provided you removed the BC partition correctly (using Boot Camp Assistant)
I am not sure what you mean by the rest of the post "So I restored" restored what?
It sounds as though XP was either not installed or not installed correctly, what happens now when you reboot?

  • Apple logo (reboot screen) appears when iPad left charging

    Hi there,
Recently when I leave my iPad connected to my Mac Mini via the USB sync/charge cable, after a number of hours the "reboot screen" (Apple logo on black background) appears overlaid with the spinning progress wheel icon (see photo below) until I disconnect the iPad from the cable, at which time the regular unlock screen appears and everything behaves normally. I'm using a 3rd-party USB docking stand - could this be the problem?
You can see some photos of this strange behaviour at:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/310720/IMG_0497.jpg
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/310720/IMG_0495.jpg
    Thanks in advance,
    Greg

It seems possible that the docking stand could be the culprit. If you try charging by plugging the supplied power adapter that came with your iPad into a wall socket and your iPad doesn't display that screen, I think that will answer your question.
If you reach a certain lower battery level on the iPad, it is not uncommon for the iPad to reboot - if it has been powered off - when you plug the supplied USB cable into a wall socket in order to recharge. However it will fully reboot and the spinning wheel will not be there.
