Green Screen Malfunction

I just figured out how to use the green screen feature in iMovie but the green screen is the same thing with a blur around it. I know there is supposed to be a blur around it but there is nothing inside. What can I do?

GPU is failing, or bad cable or bad connection.
In your case it seems possible it is a bad connection to LCD screen.

  • Green screen and video freezing while maximizing videos playing in iTunes?

After a year-and-a-half of seamless operation, iTunes started malfunctioning yesterday. When trying to play a video (either a TV show or a music video), the video will often freeze when I hit command-F to maximize. The audio keeps playing just fine. Sometimes I'm able to get the video running again by hitting escape and command-F a few times, and by hitting space bar repeatedly to pause and unpause. Before starting to work, iTunes displays a green screen for a half-second.
My system is at 10.5.8 and my iTunes is fully updated. My computer is an aluminum-unibody MacBook Pro 15".
I have tried turning the computer off for a while, reinstalling iTunes, and switching from discrete graphics to integrated graphics, all without any improvement. I doesn't happen every time I play a video or a TV show, but it does happen a majority of the time, and it often takes 10-20 seconds of fiddling to get the video to play.
    Any ideas? I'm stumped.

I've been having the same problem as you Mitlov. This is one of the reasons I always get a bit leery about updating my current version of iTunes, iPhone, or iPod. Something always stops working amongst one or more of them. Two years ago I updated iPod and I remember it took a month before I could get the iPod to work again. If you hear about a fix for this problem (besides just buying Snow Leopard) please post it back in the discussions. There are a lot of people who will benefit from it!

  • Green screen on videos

I just purchased a HP Pavillion 23 64 bit 8.1 System and have had nothing but problems. Never have had these problems with any other pc I have purchased in past 20+ years. I thought I would come here before go and try to return the **bleep** thing.
One of the problems I am having is green screens appear when I try to play a video. I have googled and tried various suggested solutions with limited success. Please advise. thank you

    Hello @jims12345,
I understand that you are having issues with getting a green screen when you are trying to watch videos on your HP Pavilion 23 All-in-One Desktop PC running Windows 8.1. This problem could be caused due to problems with hardware and devices with a new unit this is not likey, but better to check and be sure then assume. Below are the steps to use Windows Troubleshooter to diagnose the problem.
    Step 1. Press Windows Key + F
Step 2. Start Screen will open with Search feature
Step 3. Type “Troubleshooting” in the Search Box
Step 4. Click the Search icon
Step 5. Open it from the Search Results page
Step 6. Click “View all” link
Step 7. The tool will provide a list of possible issues that can be fixed with the troubleshooter. Click “Hardware and devices” item
Step 8. Hardware and Devices wizard will open. Click “Advanced” and make sure “Apply repairs automatically” checkbox is checked
Step 9. Click Next button and follow the on-screen prompts
If no problems were detected with the troubleshooting wizard most probably green screen error is caused due to malfunctioning or incompatible device driver. Any recently installed device drivers need to be uninstalled.
    Step 1. Press Windows Key + X
    Step 2. Click “Device Manager”
Step 3. Expand the top level entry and then the recently installed driver name
Step 4. Right-click the relevant driver and select Uninstall option
    Step 5. Reboot your computer
Next, lets try to restore Default CMOS SettingsGo to the CMOS settings page and restore the default settings & values. Some recent changes in the CMOS settings might have caused this issue.
    Step 1. Press Windows Key + C
Step 2. The Charms Bar will appear on the right side of your screen
Step 3. Click the Settings icon
Step 4. Click Power | Restart
Step 5. The computer will shut down and restart
Step 6. Press F10 or Delete key repeatedly as the case may be
Step 7. Click Apply default and Exit
Next, we will try to turn off the Video Acceleration setting which is found in the Windows Media Player. Fix Green Screen Errors in Windows 8/8.1 by disabling the video acceleration feature.
Step 1. Press Windows Key, open Windows Media Player from the Start Screen
Step 2. Click the Play tab on the right side panel
step 3. Press Alt key of your keyboard
Step 4. Click Tools | Options
Step 5. Options dialog will open
Step 6. Click the Performance tab
Step 7. Uncheck the box named “Turn on DirectX video acceleration for WMV files”
Step 8. Click Apply, and then OK
Step 9. Exit and re-open the application
Lastly, lets try to disable all plug-ins, extensions that are part of your web browser. The actual steps are given as under:
    Step 1. Press Windows Key + R
Step 2. Type “inetcpl.cpl” in the Open textbox, click OK
Step 3. Internet Options dialog will open with default General tab
Step 4. Replace the text specified in the Home Page
Step 5. Under “Startup” category select “Start with home page”
Step 6. Click the Tabs button
Step 7. Click “Restore defaults” button
Step 8. Under “When a new tab is opened, open:” drop down box select “A blank page” option
    Step 9. Click OK
Step 10. Click Apply and then OK

  • How do i use my own image with keying (or green screen)

how do i use my own image witrh keying (or green screen)

Put your sky clip on a layer below the clip you want to key. One or the other will be a connected clip. Apply  the Keying filter to foreground clip (the one with the green screen). The green will be seen as transparent and the sky will show through as the BG. Adjust as necessary in the Inspector.
    Good luck.

  • Please answer once and for all the boot green screen

I have searched everywhere for an answer since my issue.
    Relevant info:
    iPhone 3GS.
    iTunes version 10.7.0.21 (2012-09-12).
Doesn't matter what system I have since this is related to an iPhone device.
Fully charged battery before proceeding with the update.
Updated the iOS 5.1.1 of the iPhone to iOS 6.0 through required update recommendation of iTunes.
Never been abused, jailbroken, serviced or dropped. (never had issues until the update)
Once completed the updated process of iTunes and iPhone was done with the internal installation, the iPhone rebooted with a green screen/hue and the apple logo was still original color "silver". It loaded up to the iPhone Configure screen still with green color screen/hue.
I pressed on the power button for 5 seconds and slide "slide to power off" and the iPhone turned off. I waited about 15 seconds and pressed on the power button to turn the iPhone back on, hoping no more green screen/hue and the apple logo was still original color "silver" but returned to the original green screen/hue and the apple logo was still original color "silver".
    Failed!
It still showed green screen/hue and the apple logo was still original color "silver" and booted to the iPhone Configure screen still with green color screen/hue.
Remedies tried after searching the internet:
    Hard Restart/Reset.
DFU Mode. (even tried a restore process with iTunes again *so much time wasted to obtain the iOS download again*
Recovery Mode (even tried a restore process with iTunes again *so much time wasted to obtain the iOS download again*
Recovery from Backup is denied because previous version was iOS 5.1.1 and iTunes refuses the process so (even tried a restore process with iTunes again *so much time wasted to obtain the iOS download again*
Left the iPhone at the Configure screen until battery drained and then plugged it back into the USB port of system until it charged long enough for the iPhone to boot yet again green screen/hue and the apple logo was still original color "silver". It booted to the iPhone Configure screen which is still the green screen/hue and I left it charging until battery icon top right showed full.
Now, can someone give a straight answer while staying on this topic about this issue, please?
*I can understand if the apple logo was green then it could be a screen issue but it is not the case.
All help is greatly appreciated even if you took the time to read all of this but did not answer.
    Thank you!

    At first I had troubles similar to what you describe;
initially, part of the problem was that my hosting company had not
yet upgraded to CF 7.02. One other thing I had to correct: when you
upload to your server, upload the entire ‘bin’ (or
whatever your output folder is) minus the debug SWF.

  • HDCam to DVCPro HD Green screen---best way to go?

Green screen shoot on HDCam 29.97p. No have HDCam ability. Should I:
-send out for dub to DVCPro HD and then either
-capture by firewire from 1200A Panny deck
    or
-from AJA card by HD SDI?
    Will either give acceptable results?
Or gonna have to bite the bullet and send tape and a hard drive
somewhere and have HDCam captured to get acceptable
    stuff to composite with?
    Thanks in advance.
    p2

If you dub it to DVCPROHD, that's where the "damage" is done... so won't make any difference capturing thru HD SDI or FireWire quality wise... But stay at 1080... don't go down to 720... as long as that machine of yours plays back 1080... better look into that for sure.
It should still be OK though as far as the green screening ability because it's still in a 4:2:2 colorspace.
That said, If you could capture from the HDCAM via SDI and go to ProRes... you'd be better off in theory.

  • Green screen, downlading files and updating programs often stuck at 99%.

Okey so I have got this problem for a 20 days, since I build my own computer. Some videos on youtube and other video stream sites bug out in the way that the video just goes green, and starts fast forwarding. Then I think streams on twitch.tv for example, I cant watch a stream for longer than 20 second and the video gets frozen and the stream needs to be refreshed. And updating games, downloading files often gets stuck at very end of the progress, and it wont succesfully download or update. Im not sure is it about Flash Player/Shockwave Player but if there doesnt come example green screen it may show something like you are missing add-on Flashplayer but when i refresh the page it may run the video fine for some time.
The problem rarely happens at youtube but heres one where it happened Crs Piglet (Vayne) first ever NA Penta - YouTube
Heres video where the video didnt start at all and aswell when it did the screen gone green again and fast forward. (contains adds) http://www.thevideo.me/kmqcwhblzheh
Heres screenshots and one bad quality phone photo album of these problems, green screens, videos stuck, downloading stuck and updating stuck 99-100%. Imgur
    Heres my computer specs:
My operating system is:          Microsoft Windows:  8.1 Pro, 64-bit
    Processor:                             Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz
Graphic card:                         Nvidia GeForce GTX 760     Driver updated to: Geforce Game Ready Driver 347.52.
    Memory (ram):                       8GB
    Motherboard:                         MAXIMUS VII RANGER
Dont know what else info I could put on about my computer really... I have tried to find answer, like disabling hardware acceleration, deleting flashplayer memory file, safe modes and all kind of tips I as able to find from internet.
And I use mozilla firefox (36.0), but the problems happens aswell in Internet Explorer. I have updated Flash Player (16,0,0,305), my drivers (Geforce Game Ready Driver 347.52), all windows updates, java(1.8.0?), but still cant find the answer why watching videos/streams work well.
Im sorry if I missed some info but ask if theres something.

The green screen means that hardware decoding has failed.  It's probably a subtle, intermittent driver bug.
You can disable hardware acceleration in Flash to avoid this while you wait for updated drivers to become available:

  • Green Screen Problems, Please Help!

I'm experiencing problems with the greenscreen effects of iMovie 09. I really need help. What happens is when I drag the clip ontop of the other clip, I click green screen. Then play the clip and see just a few reen dots, not the green screen footage. If you need a link to the footage its http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAFMRKsoX5E. the material you're linking to is in a .flv container (and downloading it violates the ToU of YouTube, just to mention that )
after re-wrapping it into a suitable format, works like charme:

how or into what did you convert the t-rex.flv?

  • Why do I get a green screen on all of my videos in Mozilla (YouTube, Facebook, etc.)

I have read the forums regarding this issue on Internet Explorer, but I do not know how to fix the issue on Firefox, which is my preferred browser.  All videos have audio but there is no video, just a green screen.  :-(  Also, is there a different fix for IE other than disabling hardware acceleration?  The videos are so blurry with that fix.  Thanks for the help!

  • Can I use two different greens for green screening and keep one without it being keyed out?

I am using a green screen which is your standard light green fabric.
I am also wearing a bottle green cape.
I want to key out the standard green which is no problem. However it also takes out the bottle green on my cape.
Is there a way on either Premiere Pro or After Effects to ensure the bottle green stays as it is without being automatically keyed out?
    Many thanks.

There's your answer, most likely.  I can think of a few methods you might try, but they're going to be labor intensive, and likely involve some roto.
Most keyers have a threshold setting that determines what colors stay and which ones go.  You could keep tweaking that setting in very small increments, and if you get lucky, it might discriminate between two green values.
You might be able to precomp in Ae and use the Change Color plug to shift one of them to a more contrasty green or different hue altogether and create a luma matte.
But, you failed green screen 101, and you gotta' go to detention.
robodog, you're being a bit harsh on Jimmy Simon.  He said "Might be worth a reshoot...."  I can't disagree.  Depending on arahman's situation, a reshoot might be easier and quicker.  You never know.

  • How do you use green screen and picture in picture in iMoive at the same scene?

I understand how to do green screen and picture and picture... but how do you do it in the same sequence.. so when you are speaking with a background picture and you want to add a picture or a story within that picture... there has to be a way to do that..

That is a great idea! So I just do everything to the clip involving the green screen. Export it to, say my desktop. Then import it back into iMovie. Then I will be able to add a picture in picture? Fantastic! Thanks so much!

  • Video card for HD and green screen

I use a windows XP64 based machine with a quad core I7 920 processor and 12 gigs of RAM with nVidia 260 card. I use CS3. Right now I am having severe crash issues in Premeire CS3.
I do HD 1080i video editing with up to 4 layers of green screen. I currently use Adobe AE Keylight2 for my greenscreen work. I bring the files into Premeire with "Dynamic Link". I crash, and crash, and crash. What is my best option to prevent crashing. A Quadro video card? which one? . Or, Matrox Max. My budget is somewhat limited. I can't get both. I want to upgrade to CS5 but need to fix this problem, now.
Sincere thanx to anyone who can help

I appreciate the quick answer and am considering moving to Windows

  • Can't figure out why green screen is pixelating!

I had terrible problems with square pixelating on my production.
any ideas on what caused this... we played with saturations all day with no effect. I did have a empty green "last frame". It seemed nothing we could do would help!
I filmed with a Sony DCR-SR68 HandyCam in the highest quality and the background I chose from a Free Use source for greenscreen back grounds online.
I hope you can give me some insight here...every tutorial i have watched made green screen in iMovie look very simple... and yet we could not figure out why this pixelation was occurring!
    reasons i wondered about:
    green screen is too light?
...however i have seen screens look a lot worse and work
something to do with how i am filming?
...i realized that "facial recognition" was turned on which caused the camera shot
to move a little as i moved
am i too close to screen?
...i was about a foot away from screen (but no shadows) and camera was about a yard in front of
    me
if anyone wants same rendering or screen shots let me know and I can email some!
Let me know what you think and if you need anymore info!
