  • Marking green screen video to know where to place background images

My students want to create short green screen movies using a number of background photos that will change as they talk about their topic. How can they mark their green screen video so they will know where to place each photo?  We are using iMovie 11.  Thanks

If that's the case.  You don't need green screen at all.
You can shoot the students framed in such a way as to allow room for the photos and then use Picture in Picture.
Here's a how-to from the MacMost site.  It's for iMovie '09 but is essentially the same for iMovie '11.

  • Green screen videos in PowerPoint

is there any way to work with green screen videos in PP2010 or 13?
like make background transparent or replace with static image etc?

    Hi,
Do you want to use the green screen videos as background for your slides? If it is, please do the following:
1.In Normal view, click the slide in which you want to embed a video.
2.On the Insert tab, in the Media group, click the arrow under Video, and then click Video from file.
3.In the Insert Video dialog box, locate and click the video that you want to embed, and then click Insert.
4.On the slide, select the corner sizing handles of the video frame, and then drag each so that you cover the slide with the video frame.

  • Best settings for Green Screen Video with Canon Mark iii

    HI
What are the ideal camera settings for Green screen video.
    Iso?
    aperature?
Depth of field settings (best to have the green screen a bit out of focus?)
Any other camera settings would be helpful.
    Thanks
    Rowby

    Hi Rowby!
Thanks so much for writing in about green screen shooting with the EOS 5D Mark III camera.  Green screen shooting can come down to some crucial elements and how well you handle the camera and the lighting.
Arguably the most important thing is to have excellent lighting on the screen.  Without this, the keys used to replace the green screen will not be accurate.  So hopefully you have a good set of lights you will be using to actually light the physical screen.
With regards to ISO, shoot as low as possible.  We suggest that you stick in the ISO 200-400 range where possible.  With good, high key, proper lighting on the screen this shouldn't be an issue.
Aperture should actually be in the higher end of the range, you would want to stick to apertures around f/8 and above.  Again, with adequate lighting this shouldn't be out of reach.  This is so the green screen is more in focus, versus having it out of focus, which would not yield successful results.
Use an appropriate lens to the subject, for example if you are doing wide shots- use only the focal length needed for the shoot and no wider.  For head shots, close ups- use a lens that will get you close.
Following these suggestions should give you some pretty good results.  Remember, if this is your first attempt don't be discouraged, green screen shooting can be difficult to accomplish.
We wish you the best of luck in your endeavor!

  • Green screen video resizing/moving up/down/left /right on background shot

When using green screen in Imovie is it possible to re position your green screen footage on the background ie:- up/down/left/right and also resize ?
many thanks for any help on this.

I haven't found any, though one can use crop or ken burns effects. I am sure there is a trick, like exporting the green screen video into keynote or something, but I haven't found a way in iMovie.

  • How do I superimpose graphic in EDITED green screen video?

I know that I can throw a graphic in my project and then take a video from the event library and drop it over, choosing green screen in contextual menu. What I'm having a MAJOR issue with is how do it with an EDITED video. It appears that once I combine the graphic and unedited video, I can no longer cut/edit it once it's added in the project and I obiously can't do that in the event library either, so what are my options?
Essentially I have two projects saved (neither avaible in the event library because the video has been edited and the graphic cannot exist in the event library). IS IT POSSIBLE to combine the two so that the graphic becomes the green screen background? Because if it is, I can't figure it out and so far, from my online search, neither can anyone else.

  • Green Screen Video not working audio working

Hey everyone I just installed imovie 09 and I'm having issues with the green screen effect. I know it's probably one button that I can't find, but never the less I need some help. I followed the instructions to the T to use the effect and I even made a green back drop. The problem is when I overlay that clip on top of the background clip the video goes bye bye, but I can still hear all the audio from the clip. Can someone help?

Have you turned on Advanced Tools in iMovie Preferences?
When you drag and drop your greenscreen footage onto your background video (or photo), do you get a pop-up contextual menu that lets you choose green screen?

  • Compositing, green screen, cameras, codecs, tigers, bears, oh my...

I currently have a Canon HV30. From what I understand it records onto tape with 4:2:0 compression. I like to (try) to do keying work with it, but in all honesty the keys never come out all that great.... OK, but not great. I understand the reasons why (compression onto tape, 4:2:0 loses a lot of chroma data in compression, imprefect lighting conditions, etc.) but am wondering if the newer camcorders are any better.
I know that camcorders such as mine can record 4:2:2 if using an HDMI cable to record to an Intensity card, but I wonder if any current solid-state memory camcorders with large storage (and comsumer-level price tags) can record internally with 4:2:2 compression?
For the moment I capture to tape on my camera, transfer it to FCP my computer, then use Compressor to get it to the Prorez 422 codec. Is this the best method currently available to me for green screen and keying work (in fact, is changing it to Prorez 422 helping me at all), or am I going about this all wrong?

The only solid state cameras that record 4:2:2 compression are P2 cameras. And they start at about $5200. No consumer level camera records 4:2:2. HDV, AVCHD...those are 4:2:0. DVCPRO HD, AVCIntra...those are 4:2:2.
You can also look at getting external recording devices like the AJA Ki Pro, that records directly to ProRes via SDI, HDMI, component. No lugging the computer to the set. And you can use what you already have. No, there is no consumer level price tag on this.
If you insist on consumer level pricing, you'll get consumer level results.

  • Green screen video work flow. Premiere or AE?

Hi all. I have a TON of green screen footage that i need to slice together in quick cuts between one clip to the next. but I want to animate the transitions, have one green screen shot fly in from the back, and the next fly in from the top, etc.
I haven't managed to figure out the best work flow for this - should I clip the footage in Premiere first, then export every single clip to AE? Or does AE have some trimming abilities?
Thanks in advance for your help

  • Can Final Cut Express 3.5 work with green screen video?

Forgive my lack of technical terms but I am interested in my next FCE project being a bit more technical with some animations done in front of a green screen. Can FCE "erase" the green so I can overlay it to another background and or movie?

    Hi Lori.
In case you need some more practical advice:-
FCE has several different filters built in for Green and Blue Screen work.
FCE can also be used for animation and compositing.

  • Batch processing green screen videos

    Hi,
I'm working on a project where I will need to automate the processing of 1 min videos shot in front of the same greenscreen in a video booth.
Is it posable to automate actions in AE like you can in photoshop?
What I'd like to automate is
    1. open a file
    2. apply a greenscreen effect
    3. insert a image or as a layer below it for a background
    4. then set it to encode as an mp4
If AE can't do this do you know of any other program that can. I've tried to play around with doing it in Photoshop CS3 extended, but I'm not having a lot of luck

  • Green Screen on all online video's including dwnloading BBC Iplayer videos

I have a HP 15-g094sa Notebook PC with an AMD Radeon(TM) R5 Graphics card. I am finding i cant wach any videos online or watch downloads from BBC Iplayer. I have clicked on the settings, advanced and accelaerated graphics and it makes no difference what so ever. If i had known i'd have this problem i would never have bought a HP laptop.
Im also finding that when i type the laptop is unable to keep up with what i type and missing letters or symbols regularly this is also very annoying especially as someone who can type at a reasonable speed. I shouldnt have to stop to read it just to make sure the letters are al typing.
I would like solutions to both these problems please.

  • How can I put transitions btw clips that both use green screen?

Seems that when I drop the transition between the clips (between the backgrounds -- it won't let me drop the transition between the videos shot with the green screen), it then pushes the green screened video clips together, and the transition doesn't play at all!

iMovie does all rendering in one pass. This effect would require a nested render, which FCP excels at.
If you want to do this in iMovie, do the first green screen clip. Share it using Export Using QuickTime in Apple Intermediatae Codec. Do the same with the second green screen clip. Then import both clips into an iMovie event. Now you can drag both these clips into a project and put a transition between them.

  • Green screen, downlading files and updating programs often stuck at 99%.

Okey so I have got this problem for a 20 days, since I build my own computer. Some videos on youtube and other video stream sites bug out in the way that the video just goes green, and starts fast forwarding. Then I think streams on twitch.tv for example, I cant watch a stream for longer than 20 second and the video gets frozen and the stream needs to be refreshed. And updating games, downloading files often gets stuck at very end of the progress, and it wont succesfully download or update. Im not sure is it about Flash Player/Shockwave Player but if there doesnt come example green screen it may show something like you are missing add-on Flashplayer but when i refresh the page it may run the video fine for some time.
The problem rarely happens at youtube but heres one where it happened Crs Piglet (Vayne) first ever NA Penta - YouTube
Heres video where the video didnt start at all and aswell when it did the screen gone green again and fast forward. (contains adds) http://www.thevideo.me/kmqcwhblzheh
Heres screenshots and one bad quality phone photo album of these problems, green screens, videos stuck, downloading stuck and updating stuck 99-100%. Imgur
    Heres my computer specs:
My operating system is:          Microsoft Windows:  8.1 Pro, 64-bit
    Processor:                             Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz
Graphic card:                         Nvidia GeForce GTX 760     Driver updated to: Geforce Game Ready Driver 347.52.
    Memory (ram):                       8GB
    Motherboard:                         MAXIMUS VII RANGER
Dont know what else info I could put on about my computer really... I have tried to find answer, like disabling hardware acceleration, deleting flashplayer memory file, safe modes and all kind of tips I as able to find from internet.
And I use mozilla firefox (36.0), but the problems happens aswell in Internet Explorer. I have updated Flash Player (16,0,0,305), my drivers (Geforce Game Ready Driver 347.52), all windows updates, java(1.8.0?), but still cant find the answer why watching videos/streams work well.
Im sorry if I missed some info but ask if theres something.

The green screen means that hardware decoding has failed.  It's probably a subtle, intermittent driver bug.
You can disable hardware acceleration in Flash to avoid this while you wait for updated drivers to become available:
