Green screen when playing any Quicktime movie within a browser

With all the latest Apple updates installed, I now see only a blank green screen when playing any Quicktime movie within any browser, Safari or Firefox. Audio is fine, but the video shows just a key frame initially then goes blank green when it starts playing. If I download the movie, it will play fine in Quicktime Player. This applies to any Quicktime movie, on the Apple site or any other site. But, streaming movies that are .wmv files play fine, thru the Flip4Mac plug-in. On my older G4 Powerbook, with 10.5.7 and the latest Safari and Quicktime. there are no problems. And until recently the Intel Macbook was fine, too. But something that was installed has messed up Quicktime in some fashion so it no longer plays streaming Quicktime movies in a browser. Do I need to remove and re-install some component? Downgrade to an earlier version? I recently installed CS4 and the latest Canon digital imaging software that comes with their cameras. Might any of these have messed up how Quicktime works? -- Alan

I logged out then back in a Guest User with minimal access, ran Safari and streaming movies still would NOT play in browsers.
I then logged back in as me, with Admin access, and ran Disk Utility to first: Verify the Disk -- all was OK.
Then did a Permissions repair. And these were the permissions needing repair, below: A lot of them! And many pertaining to Quicktime. Unfortunately, doing this made no effect. Still no improvement. And running the Permissions Repair again produced the identical list of repairs. It says they have been repaired but not so, apparently.
I thought this must be the issue. But then I did the same thing with my older G4 Laptop (but also has the latest OS 10.5.7, Safari 4.02 and Quicktime 7.6.2 and other Apple updates, albeit for Powermacs not Intel), and which has minimal applications on it (it serves as a media server for the stereo) and it plays movies fine. But ... doing a Permissions Repair on it produced a similar list and they also would not repair (doing a Repair again a second time produced the same list). Yet it plays movies fine. So I'm stumped.
a) why are the laptops refusing to repair their permissions?
b) and might this be the problem on the Intel machine.
Is the answer removing Safari and installing an earlier version (I have a stand-along installer for v.4) and/or doing the same with Quicktime (I have 7.6).

Adobe flash player green screen when playing videos

Hello,
I get this green screen when I play videos on my IE9 browser on a Win 7 (64-bit) desktop computer. This green screen appears when playing a video which uses the Adobe flash player (version 11.5.502.146) but happens only after the an initial portion of the video (entire video is loaded already) is played and the rest of the video is green screen and is played at accelerated rates, as if it was being fast forwarded. The audio from the video is also affected as it plays static of different frequencies.
The videos I've been watching are from http://xin.msn.com/ and http://www.youtube.com/. I've also tried to solve this with disabling hardware acceleration from the flash player's menu, and uninstalling and reinstalling and then rebooting the computer, both of which are different attempts which did not resolve the issue.
Help to fix this issue on hand will be greatly appreciated.

IDVD '08: Burnt Project Produces Green Screen When Played

Hello,
I'm trying to burn a movie with iDVD. It's not too large, about a Gig. The file specs pulled from QuickTime are: DX50, 704x396 Millions MPEG Layer 3, Stereo, 48000 kHz.
I have no problem adding the file in iDVD, previewing the movie within the program works fine as well. However, once the DVD is burnt, all that works properly is my menu. I've only tested this from my computer so far, but once I select the movie from the menu and it plays, all that is seen is a green screen and the audio is practically inexistent with only small choppy sections coming through. It's most likely in the encoding process, but I'm not sure. Can iDVD handle burning MPEG Layer 3 AVIs?

PAL should be 720x576 and NTSC should be 720x480 so your frame size is off. In addition, iDVD doesn't seem to like mpg-3 multiplexed audio.

Satellite U500-1F5 gets a green screen when playing 720p/hd vids

when I tried to play a 720p video with using vlc Video player with my Toshiba Satellite U500-1F5, it just shows a green screen but the audio is playing, I even tried playing other 720p vids of mine just to check if its only my video that might have a problem, I got lucky one of the videos work but the prob it becomes pixelated but when I put on full screen it becomes clearer.

I guess you can watch original DVD movies without any big problems? Right?
Well, in my opinion its matter of video codec.
Possibly the player you are using does not support the codec used by the movie or such codec fail.
Try to install the full K-Lite Codec Pack. This pack contains big collection of different audio and video codec.

Try the following.
Right click on the video ( green screen ) and select Settings.
Remove the tick from the box next to 'Enable Hardware Acceleration' and then click close.
Refresh the current page and see if the video now plays Ok.

I cannot play any Quicktime movies on the Internet Explorer. What can I do?

Hi, I always check in the movie trailer page on apple to enjoy some movie trailers, but, since a time ago, I cannot see any movie trailer on the internet explorer, when I got into the movie's trailer, it show a white question mark (?) above the Quicktime simbol (Q)and the trailer won't show, I uninstalled and reinstalled again the quicktime 7, but I still cannot see anything.
Can anyone help me to solve this??? There are now like a thousand trailer I haven't see because of this!! lol

I've posted this elsewhere, but I wasn't sure how to link your question to the other one....
I had the exact same problem and came across some instructions that helped me, so you might give these a try yourself:
1) open QuickTime Preferences
2) click the Browser tab
3) click the MIME Settings
4) select Miscellaneous - Miscellaneous file formats
5) uncheck Flash media (if it's already unchecked, then click the Use Defaults button at the bottom)
If that still doesn't fix the problem, continue with this:
1) within QuickTime Preferences, click the File Types tab
2) select Misceelaneous - Miscellaneous file formats
3) uncheck Flash media (or Use Defaults button if necessary)
For some reason, these two lists aren't linked to each other. So when you change one, it won't change the other automatically. There might be a feature to link the two, but I'm not aware of it at this time.
Also, be sure you have the latest Macromedia Flash Player (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash)

Also when it's trying to reboot in windows a blue window appears,says something about drivers and it is counting something (79.78...till100)but I m not able to read it cause it disappears immidiately and then black screen and then it turns to reboot in mac which works fine.

Playing a Quicktime Movie Then Jumping to a Marker

Hi
Can someone please tell me how to do the following...
I want to play a Quicktime movie then have it jump to a frame
when complete.
Please see the attached code.
Any help much appreciated.

Why do I get "not connected to Internet " when I try to move within a website?

I am using Verizon hotspot to connect my laptop with internet. Never had problems until IOS 8 came out. My laptop is XP but I don't want a new computer yet! Since I downloaded 8 on my phone my laptop does not work properly! I can get on various websites, but when I try to move within the website I receive on a large screen "no internet connection" but I am still connected to the internet. When I use my computer on a free wifi service I don't have this problem. What is going on? Help Me Please!!!

Y do I have a Green screen when attempting 2 playback downloaded podcast???

Why do I have a green screen when attempting to playback my downloaded Podcast?
1. I can still download the podcast into Itunes
2. I can still here the audio with no problems
3. The primary issue is that I can not see the video footage, only a green hue.
If you have a rememdy for this issue, please assist with the quick fix.

I am not sure about podcasts, but for similar symptoms playing videos - try disabling Direct3D acceleration in Quicktime.
